WM 6.5 now has Checkboxes, Push Button, Radio boxes, etc. like WM 6.5.x - Windows Mobile Software Development

Am not sure if this has been introduced or not, but fir the first time since wm6.5.x, i have used a wm 6.5 build and have found this trick on trial.
For many of us using the WM 6.5 is just like WM 6.1 with minor updates, but using WM 6.5.x steps ahead in Graphical User Interface. Well now it possible to have WM 6.5 to have similar Graphic Customizations that you see in WM 6.5.x such as, Check Boxes, Push Buttons, Radio Boxes, etc. Have a look at the screens below, the top images are default WM 6.5 looking but the bottom images are Graphically customized like in latest WM 6.5.x Builds.

^^ wow nice, have u a cab?

Long long time to search this. Thanks man.

nice find....gud for 6.1 users...

what cool thing is that the push buttons never showed up at all places in wm6.5.x but in wm6.5, using the same resources, the push buttons show everywhere. will be working on finding what makes them not work in wm6.5.x. if any1 has an addon then sure let me know.

Isn't this already widely known? I used a 6.5 EnergyROM that had them skinned like that.

am not sure. cud be possible. but it was 1st time i tried wm6.5 build since 6.5.x was launched and found this. it wasnt mentioned anywhere so i posted. does ny1 has a reqson y those push buttons show on 6.5 but not on 6.5.x??

You just need the proper GWES.EXE file. I think 23047 had the best GWES file.... It went away for a while and I just reused my 23047 version.
I'm pretty sure it is standard in later builds because I don't think I still use it. But aside from requiring the graphics, you need the GWES.EXE file.
From the article, it appears that the later WM6.5 GWES.EXE supports the themes but the files are missing (basically). So you just need the image files and a theme that calls to them.

true. but has anyone tried a wm 6.5 gwes.exe on 6.5.3?? i'll do that as soon as i get free this weekend. but if any1 knows it then let us know.

Checkboxes look bad as they are the same size as the text next to them. This was fixed a long ago in 6.5.3, but in 6.5 it is still present.
I am using 21882. Can anyone confirm that on 21888 (or 21889) it was fixed?

And YES, works great also using 21884 build

I use it since 21869
I noticed the following problems:
1) checkboxes appear stretched vertically, if text consist multiple lines
2) In some older programs skins buttons overlap pop-up
But in general looks very good

Very nice work! I've had a test 21202 WWE build to see if the mouse bug persisted - and yes, it's still there.. even with IB1 OEM.. were it not for this bug I would jump over to WM65 no doubt

Mainly I post this treads because many people curious about it... I think it's not for daily use (yet...)... I really hope that someone find a fix for this...
I got the 21202 build yesterday... haven't touch it yet though... got other things to do... maybe soon I'll post it...
I really like this ROM !!!!! I'm going to cook in the old mouse driver, but i really like this rom !! Very fast anda stable on my i780
Very nice and smooth. Love the graphics and finger frendly scroll in Mail, Contacts and Programs.
Just only fixing up the phonebook scrolling it would be perfect.
Good, I go to try it and tell what's wrong on this rom
can just remove the mouse driver at all ? since it's not working properly we might as well remove it
very nice look, I test wifi, install WLM and go to test Garmin mobile XT tomorrow with my car.
WLM 10.6.0034.0800 work nice on wifi and gprs. but there are lot screen bug, when you go to in the menu and select a program, the program name stay on the screen.
at last...... i thought it will never come out.... i am going to update my device later... cool thanks...

We already have some progress on Hi PDA (A Chinese forum):
http://www.hi-pda.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=471061&extra=page%3D1
I also test 21202 with IB1 OEM, the mouse bug still there, and I did dump some Omina 6.5 ROM and found that seems Omina do not have the mouse driver settings on HKLM/System/BuiltIn/Drivers. It's soooo strange... because Omina do have mouse.
Since I donot use mouse ever, I disabled the mouse feature by default in registry and on startup folder, i put two shortcut of chgFingerMouse.exe to enable then disable mouse. it will not fix the mouse issue, but at least there will no render issue on the center of screen.
Keren jow!
Cuma karena blum ada yang stabil bgt, gw masih ragu buat upgrade ke WM65
tapi gw bakal terus pantau nih...
Looks Cool Man!
But i still reluctanct to move to WM 65...
Looking forward for your update though
i am trying to download it but the file is not downloading it fully... or it give an error file is not availeble...
Just installed it on my i780! Looks and feels great! Great work, thanks for sharing.

For the mouse rendering issue, no. But we have a walk around to avoid the rending issue when mouse is disabled.
Enable & Disable the mouse will fix the rending issue. So I put two shortcuts on windows/startup folder of chgFigureMouse.exe to enable & disable the mouse once.
Since i am in company now and cannot upload files, but i think you should have chgFigureMouse.exe.

how hard is it to uninstall if needbe? can you just uninstall it from add/remove programs?
also, have you got the specs for plugins? or is that a feature to yet be built?
You can disable it through the today screen config in your settings, just like you do any other today screen app.
The SDK for plugins will be released shortly. This weekend I am shooting for. And support for draggable and moveable plugins and program shortcuts is the very next thing to be implemented, that will be coming in the next week.

It's BsB 6.5.1E ROM from Diamond section.
I tried this out on my Elfin (6.5 23009). It seems really nice but obviously needs more widgets. The functionality seems limited and also customization needs to expanded. I bet everyone has mentioned that several times by now though...
It seemed to want to choke up on my device. Especially the pictures and calendar widgets. The rest of it was smooth. It'd be nicer if I had a faster cpu to run it on.
It is beautiful and simple. Nice!

Remove horizontal dividers from WM6.1 Today

Hello,
I hope I am writing this to the correct forum.
I would like to remove horizontal dividers (lines) from Today screen of WM6.1
Have tried to search the net, bud I haven't found any clues whether it is even possible or not.
If not, is it possible to at least change the colour/transparency in registry?
Or size?
Thanks in forward for any answers!
I searched the forum and got this immediately:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475040
Thanks!
I must be completely blind...
>>>
Unfortunately, this does not work for me.
The registry entry writes OK, but with no result after soft reset.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today]
"HidePluginSeparators"=dword:1
Anyone has any other solution?
That registry value only works in Windows Mobile 6.5. AFAIK there is no way to remove them in the old 6.1 versions. What we we used to do back then was to tweak the colors of the lines to match the wallpaper or use a plugin like RlToday or Ultimate Launch to host your other plugins.
PS,
Next time try the Q&A forum. You'll find more help in there.
Thanks for the answer.
One more question - where can I find colour settings for the separators?
You can use ThemeGenCE to change the color from a desktop PC and then copy the .tsk to your phone, or use UITweaker in your phone. It has many settings so you'll have to play with it.

Con: This is a VGA based application, pictures loaded within a *.tsk does not look well on WVGA
Thus personally I do not use pictures within *.tsk files, just alter the overall settings, then use s-k-tools to fine tune it and add a picture when the *.tsk is running
You know what? That second application mentioned there 'MSCEInf' is neat for xda-developers (us)
Q: Why?
A: Rename the *.tsk to *.cab and drop it on MSCEInf
TiP: When a theme has a *.cab extension, do not install it; just rename it to *.tsk
Note: Both applications have their own kernel! Just Awesome!
There is an application capable of changing the Today Screen though its not free ware called S-K-Tools : :
Have fun with both (maybe triple if you buy s-k-tools ) applications xda-developer! know I sure did ,

No need to rename *.tsk to *.cab to drop it on MSCEInf ! MSCEInf accept natively tsk extension.

[REQ] Naked, barebones WM 6.5.3 ROM.

To any active Hermes ROM cookers. Could you please do a naked, barebones, WM 6.5.3 ROM and just concentrate on having as much free RAM as possible.
No front end like Sense, SPB, PointUI. Doesn't even need Office. All these things can be added. Just the basic functions like SMS, Bluetooth, need to be stable.
If there are any cookers still left out there this is what the remaining users REALLY need and want.
You will have the undying gratitude of people from disparate parts of this world.
I need something like that too. Most recent OS with working camera, bluetooth and infrared. No need for programs like office or messenger. If I need them I will install them later.
Yeah, that would be great!
ok will do..
I agree with all this...And i don't even need wm 6.5.3, maybe a good 6.1 and 6.5 Hybrid
would do the work, as long as it has 28MB or more ram...All of the other things are
installable so we can have what we want...And yes there should be .net CF
I don't have a wm6.1 kitchen yet
It's ok man...You do your work just fine I just made suggestion because it is noticeable
that with wm 6.1 Hermes works better and all applications work (like pim organizer and
morphgear emulator) and i think with wm 6.1 there could be a way to get more ram...
Only thing with wm 6.1 is that it's not so finger friendly so if some features from 6.5 roms
(like finger scroll and larger menus) could be implemented in 6.1 it would be the best! This is
just my opinion...
Well, I'm trying to cook half-naked 6.5 (NOT 6.5.3, the large menu are useless on 2.8") with the basic things directly in the ROM (the really usefull things will probably install itself via PreConfig and will be uninstallable/upgradeable) - I want as much RAM as possible and stability. This "model" worked for me perfectly on 6.1
But I can't cook much in the week (school). And few things in the kitchen I use (SJK) is are broken ... maybe I'll try to fix it myself, we'll see.
But I can share with rest of you, when I complete it. But I'll be cooking it for myself, so it will be under No Whining "licence".

I see where you're coming from. Though in some sense we have a naked 6.1 ROM with CRC's, though this still gives me problems.
It is true that some things I like to use just don't work with 6.5.x but there has always been a severe lack of vanilla 6.5 ROMS and before all the Hermes ROM cookers go to that great ROM cookers place in the sky, it would be nice to have a one.
Have you tried "Darkvisions final" on 1st boot it provides around 28MB RAM, I use SPB Mobile Shell and still have 22-23MB free and still has many extra's installed

I used Dark Visions 5.0 final when it first came out and tried it again later but always ran into terminal problems i.e with the bluetooth.
I was hoping he would release a Dark Visions 6.0 that he mentioned he had finished but it looks like he's also gone to the Great Rom Cookers resting place.
I am just about to try out the one kindly done by MrDSL to see if this meets the criteria...

I haven't tried it but i am having a thought on doing that because crc's 13.5
rom is giving me a bit trouble last few days...It is one of the best rom there is
blazing fast and pretty good on ram, but i had a few phone freeze (not whole
phone but some of the graphics frozen and i could still receive calls and so).
But i wonder if things like pim organizer (very useful tool) and Morphgear still
works on Darkvisions v5.0?

It's not clearly labeled on XDARoms.com because I can not see any of the ROM you mentioned.

dump crc's 13.5 with the ervius kitchen and you have an awesome 6.1 base! I dummped both his naked and full, then used the naked as my base, and added the things I wanted.

I underline your posting and your wish. I've the same idea. DarkVision goes in that direction.
And for more finger friendlyness, exists a great "old" tool FTouchflo - since the days of the great GERMAN ROMs of Schap... :

Thanks to all the cookers, the last weeks is more "action" here, many new Roms to play with it.
Maybe, one day, I cook my own german mixed ROM... if I've the time, to give my Hermes to my mother, who isn't an english-speaker...
You can use V29 23060 lite http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461680
Thanks keraunos, I'll try this, maybe again, I've forgotten how this ROM was, and if I can open Opera without problems or memory shortings, like in the big Manila 2D Versions. I don't like Versions, where the Manila every time starts again, when I switch from another opened program.
Better perfomance in 6.5 oder 6.1+6.5 mixed Roms has the SPB Mobileshell GUI, or others.
But I like trial and error in testing roms. I think it's a good idea, to write down, which I've tested, and wich was fine for me, cause my brain memory is obviously full...
For me is the best rom until other beter will be release.

Ok. In that case, I think we will have to wait for htc to release wm6.5.5 for hd2 with the Sense lock screen
not so fast:
Can anyone share the package?
Thanks

HTC Build 23101
Usually SenseUI replace only system softkeys with its softkeys. Maybe the new SenseUI replace all the bar and not only the keys.

Great, how did you tell wm to launch the OEM lockscreen?
Bump how do I get this to work? I moved everything in the package to windows folder, yet not working?

+1 on this... i dont know why i cant get most OEM stuff to work with the newer builds on WinMo.. Ex. HTC Volume Control, this lockscreen, menu enhancement.. etc.. Is there an EXT that these OEM packages depend on? (Most of my roms are bare bones for speed)
I would like to see if i can help with this, but since i cant even get the LS to launch, its tough to test.
I think that you need to put the reg filer in the registery. Going to try that now
EDIT: Didn't work, weird.
but why is the customlockscreen.dll a folder on my computer?
There are a few requirements for this...
One is that you have all the files and registry settings (that makes WM launch it).
Another possible requirement (I have no idea if this is right or not) is that some branches won't have the custom-lockscreen support, as it was probably requested only by HTC.
The issue with this package generally, is that it's hard coded for HVGA.
that was build 28232, with a lot of new Leo 2.10 packages, just not Sense. All I did was cook in the package and hit the lock button on the start menu.
it's worth noting that when i adjust the sizes of the images, they are only rendered in the HVGA size box as seen in the screenshot. i think modifying the dll is beyond my scope, but i'll keep digging.

I will dig around the DLL, but i am using 23541 and custom lockscreen/volume control/menu enhancment DLL's refuse to load or do anything.. ohh well...
If i find something in the DLL, i will pass it on for further testing.

one workaround is to rename customlockscreen.dll to lockscreen.dll (which essentially replaces the default lockscreen.dll). there's a registry entry to move the black slider curtain up or down, but other coordinates seem to be hard coded into the dll. it doesn't seem to have landscape support (eventhough there are landscape grafix) and the PIN input screen seems broken (can't input any valid PIN and may need to hard reset).
that particular volume control package may only work on photon (and similar) hardware. it's the same case for the newer volume control packages that will only work on rhodium/topaz and not older devices. i got the menu enhancement package working, but there are some graphical glitches. it doesn't look like it's positioned correctly for wm6.5.x yet.
i'd wait for a stable/shipped package before trying to disect it further.
