I was wondering if anyone with a Touch Pro2 could confirm functionality of a piece of software for me.
I wanted to know if binding Keyboard keys in the buttons configuration menu of Gnuboy Pocket and Pocket GBA emulators worked at all.
This is the real deal breaker for me as I use my phone, currently HTC Touch, alot for hand held gaming while im on the bus or skytrain. But ive grown sick of touch screen only for normal phone functions(also Touch can be a laggy biotch at times). the lack of a directional pad on the touch pro2's face means ill be using keyboard keys to play instead so need to know if they'll even bind
incase you are too lazy to google to check

Hi Friend,
Sounds like you have the T-moblie stock rom to me!!
and yes, your questions has many times on this forum, but to answer your question; get registry editor & pre-pare edit the following:
Locate this path;
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
Now your going to edit and remove eT9 in both files below to:
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
Now you edit any key for emulation!
thanks for the reply but I dont own an HTC Touch Pro2 yet.
I have an HTC Touch Elfin from Singapore lol
your registry edit is it needed in order to make keyboard keys usable with the gameboy emulators?
I use pocket Gnuboy and the keyboard mapping works absolutely fine

yea, the mapping works all fine.. but i can't get any of these emulators to proparly stay landscape AND have the keys workm it's always one or the other.
thanks for the responses guys.
if HTC doesnt release a new winmo with QWERTY and android still has crap emulators by February ill be getting one of these
@Taurmindo
On pocket gnuboy go to preferences and then uncheck 'Draw with GAPI'. Map your keys as normal and you should have both.

according to the leaked 2010 roadmap, there is another landscape qwerty coming out, but it's 3" and wQvga, so... If you were hoping for a better device, it wasn't on that release.
Frankly I'm surprised there hasn't been a snapdragon landscape qwerty leaked. I guess they want to finish milking the TP2 first.
It works
I've already got Gnuboy working, and Morphgear, the SNES module so far. the key mapping problem can be fixed with a cab, dutty xt9 fix or something, it's on this forum, I can't remember where I found it.
hey anyone konws what are the original values?i sort of screwed up my phone!

yes it works perfectly. ive been using it since yesterday and its definitely much better than the pre-installed default keyboard. i especially like the way it auto-corrects my frequent typo's

What, the link is down?
Did it get xda'd? lol
Been using it for a few weeks.. Skinable and very easy to type with. In fact you can just slide your finger around and let go when you see the key you are looking for highlited..
Another thing you should look into is PocketCM...

CONTACTS replacement!!! I like this even more then their keyboard solution.. Imagine the iPhone contacts slide you see everywhere, and you have pocketCM. One of the best features is the A-Z on the left side to quick jump.

How do you install this on hermes w/WM6? When I go into settings / input and change to PCM keyboard it says " Pocket CM keyboard has to be the current sip in order to configure it? what do I do?
Just click the little triangle beside your keyboard icon (bottom middle of bar) and select PCM Keyboard. That should do it...
i have been using the pocket CM k/b since yesterday and ts a quantum leap forward from any other k/b that is available. Its a must have for any Windows mobile user. It works on all PPC phones!
There is also a contact manager from the same author. You can use your fingers to scroll through and select contacts. I use that as well. It works great! It is called pocketCM. URL: http://www.pocketcm.com/index.php
I've installed it and it shows up in the list of available input devices but selecting it does nothing at all. The keyboard doesn't change visually onscreen and if I check the current input device it still shows the standard keyboard.
I can go into it's options and play around with things but if I change the Input Method to PCM Keyboard and click OK, it still doesn't switch over.
Running Schap's WM6 Pro 3.60a ROM.
Tried soft resets, tried installing to main memory and to storage.
Running 0.6 version.

What a bummer.
Too bad the Hermes doesn't have either a slide out keyboard, Block Recognizer, Letter Recognizer or Transcriber.

I don't think sarcasm is called for; this looks like a neat keyboard that works better than the stock one for those times that you dont want to slide out or use the stylus.

Strange, I installed it on my 8525 (see sig for ROM info), and it worked fine. Of course my fat fingers don't let me use it all too well... But then again, I have the same problems with an iPhone and even the slide-out keyboard on the Hermes. I actually find the Letter Recognizer to work quite well for me, but it's a matter of personal preference (I was a big fan of Graffiti on the Palm, but Graffiti 2 was abysmal.)

Is there anyway to make this the default keyboard? When i reset my phone, it goes back to the standard keyboard
I'm in love with this keyboard! I had downloaded and installed the first version a couple weeks ago and liked it enough to use occaisonally. I felt like it had great potential and just needed a little polishing. But this new version, .6, is awesome! Perfect. I'm gonna use it all the time except when typing sms with the palm threaded app. I'll slide out the hardware keyboard on my hermes for that.
As soon as someone fixes the palm threaded app so that the SIP keyboard doesn't cover up the text you're inputting, I'll use this new PCMkeyboard there, too. And I'll send a hefty donation to that person that fixes the palm app.
donation on the way to this PCM guy, too.
Does anyone know if this keyboard supports other languages' input methods?
Under the options, there's a select box for "Keyboard layout" which includes:

English
Francais
German

hi there
i wondered if someone can make some virtual buttons and nav pad at the bottom of screen so that we can use it in games and other programs
cause all u know that the devise realy lacks the d-pad!!
(something like what HD has in its standard keyboard but more applicable)
for example make a virtual input keyboard but without any alphabetic buttons! instead only nav and some big usefull buttons!
it would make a real change in hd's programing and gameing!!!
thanx in advance
i put some pics for an idea !! sorry for bad quality
thats no problem... emulators have that. problem is that the touch hd don't have multitouch... you have the choice... move ... or jump! that means no jumping forward with sonic or mario...
navigationkeyboard is already integrated in touchpal 3.5.
Ohhh, and this whole time I thought the only thing stopping people from playing games which require hardware input was the lack of a decent software input! Does this mean that the HD will never be able to play games which require more than one input at the same time e.g. racing games (accelerate and steering for example)?
That is such a shame
volume up = speed
volume down = break
virtual touch pad = driving around
See this thread for a great work-in-progress to address this issue

Never thought of that! Does that mean you could run a game at VGA resolution with the virtual D-Pad at the bottom of the screen (480x160 pixels)?

The Touch HD won't fit in that chainpus gamepad unless you chop it apart and mod it to extend further. I saw a thread somewhere else where someone did that, but that's way beyond my ability. I'm considering a Wii controller. Would just need some way to attach it. Maybe just a small clipboard to rest them both on or something.

No and no.
It is a problem. It is in emulators (i have myself draw dpad in morphgear) but it doesnt exist for normal VGA games.
and you are wrong about that multitouch problem. There can be place between up arrow and right arrow which will work as right up button. Also if you click on 2 places on HD, it will touch the centre of the points you touched, so it is basically multitouch
Well maybe with the increasing number of these devices having larger screens and no physical buttons someone will start coming out with more controllers.
What about an analogue slider input, like the joystick on the PSP? IMO that would be really cool.
INTRO
I've started this thread to port the EzInput Keyboard to QVGA resolution. The keyboard is now fully functional yet still has a couple of small glitches to be fixed in portrait mode.
I am doing all the testing on my elfin, so I cannot assure that it will work on other devices so you'll have to test it yourselves!

KNOWN BUGS
XT9 is not currently working: the keyboard seems to get the coordinates (size and position) of the VGA keys. E.g.: if you press "q", "a" or "w" the keyboard will write "q" on the screen, since the three letters are in the area of the "q" key in a VGA screen (double size).
Any help on this matter would be really appreciated!!!
XT9 UPDATE 05/01/2009:
I´ve managed to get XT9 working by replacing the xT9ime.dll of the EzInput 2 with the EzInput 1.5 dll supplied with the ROM I am using. The problem now is that I cannot change XT9 mode back to normal mode .
Anyway I encourage you to test this and see if we can get a solution to the XT9 issues.
To test it, just go to the windows directory, rename eT9ime.dll to something else (e.g. eT9ime.dll.OLD) and reset your device (this should restore the dll supplied with your ROM).
I´m waiting for your comments!!!!
VIBRATION/XT9 UPDATE 05/13/2009:
I managed to get vibration to work a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to fix the T9 mode before releasing a new version.
I´ve been working on T9 and have not been able to find where the code responsible for calculating the key pressed (based on the coordinates) is.
OPTION A: If anyone is able to find such place in the code or just point me in the right direction, I´ll find the time to patch et9Ime.dll so that QVGA users can enjoy T9 in this keyboard.
OPTION B: Another possible option would be to patch the et9Ime.dll from ezinput 1.5, but the mappings of some important keys seem to be different (XT9/ABC switch for example), and also different registry keys need to be updated so that everything works as it should.
Sorry for the lack of feedback, but I need more time for fixing these issues since this is the first time I am dealing with SIP/IME/IMM and stuff and I´ve found it a little bit more complex than I thought it would be.
HOWTO
Additionally, I'm planning on writing a very simple "howto" to explain people what they can do to adjust/fix/change the layout of the keyboard.
PS: I cannot post any screenshot now, so if anyone of you can upload one I'd be grateful.
problem on XT9 mode, maybe is the key mapping, i dunno that
for example type q,w,a,s the result is --> qqqq
type e,r,d ---> www
thanks for your hard working
T9 issue
You're right (i did not test the XT9 )
I'll have a look at it.
Thanks
Nice
Just 2 questions :
- vibrate when keys are pressed : Don t work normal maybe ...
- Is there a way to change language to french? i see 40C file ...
ty
looks great, good to finally have EZInput for QVGA.
major bug I noticed it messes up the keyboard mapping..for example Caps does not function, nor does the light, just flickers on then off when caps is hit, I believe to turn caps on and off (at least for me) I would have to use function, which also works for function (if that makes sense) lol
also the function keys got incorrectly mapped, I will try the tilt keyboard fix, hopefully that will work, and you can post that Cab.
Minor Issue: no SIP image to open the keyboard on the phone. its a black square, hit the square to active SIP. Would be nice to get a cool new icon though ;P
other then that, I will continue to test this, because the spacing between the keys and the skin is very nice
Thanks for your hard work and the post
I installed this new version and the only major thing I see compared to all the rest of the one you have posted is that the SIP Icon for the Keyboard that shows between the softkeys is missing, if you press the empty space the Keyboard still pops up and is functional but the icon is gone.
thanks man. Work great
So I don't have the phone keypad...is this just a problem with me or does anyone else have this problem?
XT9 is off, but that's fine cause I don't find a need for xt9 on a full keyboard anyways. Though like I said in the other thread I wish there was compact qwerty, or at least I could have the compact qwerty from my other keyboard as well.
Thanks a lot! Im at school now, but as soon as I get home, I'll install this on my phone.
- Thanks, your job is really appreciated.
Great !!!
I've been waiting for this for sometime now and just say thanks for the Qvga version Just wondering if anyone is working on the xt9 bug, i have gotten accustom to using that but if not no worries still a great keyboard !!!
Well, this full qwerty is a huge improvement over the EZ-Input one. I installed the keyboard and used the full qwerty without any problems. HOWEVER, does the Compact QWERTY mode not work with this? Thanks.
Thank you man, you are awesome !
I don't have any problems with it, except the reported bug of the SIP Icon.
But the keyboard on my Elf is a bit slow without O/C. (WM 6.5)
I love this keyboard !
XT9 bug
I've been looking at the XML files, the kdb files and the ldb files and I still cannot figure out the place where the XT9 keys size/position (x,y,h,w) is defined.
Does anyone know whether it's hardcoded in a PE module or it can be configured anywhere?
BTW, I'm afraid Compact QWERTY is not possible for the time being...
Sorry if I'm repeating. If I switch to numeric and press a key and then go back to ABC then all the keys are screwed up and when I press them I get the wrong keys. Do others have the same problem?
littld, i'm not experiencing that behaviour, sorry

I have been trying to find this out too, I have looked everywhere and can't find the positions for XT9.
Side note, on all 3 previous versions you could use XT9 in ABC and it worked perfectly, but in the new version it just types normally in ABC and XT9 is still broke.

Yes, all 3 you posted in that thread. If set to XT9 all key mapping was off as I had posted in that thread and others. But ABC worked as XT9 without a problem. It was weird. But I am running the last posted version which I downloaded from sendspace and it works as described above. When I installed the one when you opened this thread also from sendspace XT9 key mapping is still the same, totally off and ABC just functions as it should, regular typing with no text prediction.
Hope that makes sense?

Not really...
Anyway I'll play around a bit with the different modules to see what I can get.
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a tweak that lets you use the keyboard on games and emulators such as Morphgear or other apps to simulate hard keys. I had a look on the Touch Pro forum and came across a nice program that enables you to use certain keys for Morphgear, the downside is that some of the keys get a little mixed up which I assume is a compatibility problem or hardware difference. But the concept is there. It's just that with the lack of a D-Pad making use of the keyboard for things other than typing would be really useful. If there isn't one out yet, do you think someone will come up with one in time.
Link to the Touch Pro tweak - I've tested it and other than than the keys get a bit mixed up it works

Hi, when you tested the kfortouchpro app on your Rhodium was it playable?
disable eT9 and it works
Hi,
disable eT9 and it works:
You want to disable eT9. Go into the registry and change to this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409]
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
then soft reset. that disables eT9 and leaves you with the windows mobile standard IME.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469486
Than you can remap buttons with ae button.
I had the same problem, my first solution was described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531823
with the ability to kept eT9, but it wont work with emulators like Gen PPC.
Hope it helps you.
I downloaded KforTP (do a search, can't remember where from). You can select the kb setting you want without having to soft reset. Works perfectly for me when using the smartgear emulator.
Thanks Bub3D. I tried your first solution and it worked, at least in morphgear - genpp doesn't seem to recognise the keys on one side of the keyboard.. Just out of interest, have I actually disabled anything that I might use? Everything seems to work, but what does eT9 do?
I have tried GenPP unsuccessfully. Morphgear SNES works but not the genesis module. Anyone any ideas? It seems to load up games but then black screen when it gets past the title screens. Also crashes the device sometimes when doing this.
I'd happily pay good money for a decent genesis emulator on the TP2 if anyone knows of any.
I'm looking into a new phone and one thing I would really like is the ability to play old games such as those found on MAME, SNES, and GBC. Unfortunately, the state of Windows Mobile game emulation has not progressed much in the past two years. With many phones now abandoning the D pad and screen resolution now higher than what some emulators can manage, programs that worked marginally for my 8125 are reported not working on newer devices. As WM moves on to WM7, I left wondering if any emulators will be left. I noticed that the Iphone and Android phones have emulation development ongoing. Perhaps it is the challenge of getting something to work on something new. I have no programming skills whatsoever so I'm left tapping away on a keyboard lamenting the fact that my next probable phone won't be as fun as I had hoped (since other phones do not suit my productivity needs or exceed my budget for overall cost of ownership). Hopefully, some of these tweaks listed above will work for the TP2 for AT&T's version.
kfortouchpro is NOT needed on this device for morphgear...
in morphgear:
o go to any button config screen
o when assigning the buttons hold down CONTROL while hitting the key
o go to global options menu
o enable 'polling' method
o enjoy!
SmartGear also works without any special tricks at all.

I've got a question. I'm using Morphgear, but I can't play some games, because I don't have multitouch on my phone. That's why I can't do, for example, uppercut in Mortal Kombat, which requires two buttons pressed at the same time. I would like to map some button to the buttons on my phone - for example red headphone, green headphone, the volume buttons, etc. It would be great. I tried some applications like AE Button or Dred Sensor, they work with typical using the phone, but not in Morphgear. When I try to map the keys in options, it looks like the are mapped, but they don't work in any game. Is it possible to do that? I don't want to buy external bluetooth controller, I want to use the buttons on my phone.

to get mine to work i simply mapped the keys using the on screen(pop-up form the bottom) keyboard rather than the physical keyboard. it then worked on the physical keyboard. I got this method somewhere on the forums not sure where.
So, you mapped the keys to the keyboard and then you were able to use for example volume buttons on the phone to control the game? That's what I want to do.
So I was playing I love katamari on my xperian play. It was a Samsung exclusive so its tilt control only. Its a pretty sweet port not quite psp but kinda close, and would be great xperia optimized.
Would it be possible to somehow map the tilt axis to a dpad input. Like tilt foward= DPAD_up
Would root be required for something like that?
Would make it work pretty well just with that setting, you still have to touch screen to sidestep. But even that could possibly be mapped.
Does something like this exist?
Edit: found this but im pretty sure you cant map tilt to a button, can anyone confirm before I drop the money
