Is there a application/registry key/log file that I can read my unique device ID from?
I had a poke around the system information to no avail. It must be hidden in there somewhere.
this is quite odd...its easy to find on my mda, but not on the tp2...the only thing i could find, and this may be wrong, was: settings > connections > domain enroll > device name.
Also, i you can set up a unique name when setting up active sync w/ your comp for the 1st time.
Start> Settings> System> About> Device ID Tab. That should do it for ya.

To enable this, your smartphone must be application unlocked! (i.e. modify the registration settings)
First setup a comm port for your Bluetooth GPS devices as usual:
Start/Settings/Connections/Bluetooth.
Make sure Bluetooth is set to "On".

Select your GPS device from the list and press Next.
Enter the passkey for the Bluetooth GPS.

You should get a message box saying "Your Smartphone has connected".
NOTE: It is important to remember the name of you Bluetooth GPS receiver that was added. Let’s call this variable GPSNAME.

This is so much clearer and easier to follow than the original post. A great first post. Thank you.
Oh, and welcome to XDA-Dev!
For those unsure about playing in the registry, you can use this utility to easily configure the GPS Intermediate Driver after setting up the bluetooth comm port as described above
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293397
Just select the Bluetooth port you set up, save and restart.
First off... I did search all the threads and could not find any relevant information for the dash. I have the WM 6.1 ROM by Kavana.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Excalibur_WM61tzones
I tried following the instructions in that wiki to configure my MMS settings for T-mobile but when it says:
# Scroll to MMS
# Menu > Settings > Menu > MMSC Settings
I do not have menu item "settings" listed in my mms menu... I set it up before on my other phone but I cannot get to the page where I input that configuration info. Someone please help?
Thanks.
My apologies... the menu directory structure was not stated correctly in the wiki, i found the submenu which you can input the information. Mods, you may delete this thread if you wish.
hmm... it still says error synrchonising when i try to send/receive... i must be doing something wrong still...
put a "." in your username and password it will still say error but you will get your MMS's working
Hey hope this isnt too much of a noobie question, but how do i sort stuff by first name. Seems like everything throughout the OS sorts by last name. I hate it. Please advise
Thanks!!!
In the contacts view, you can edit an entry and then edit the specific persons name. Below the place you enter the name you can find a "file as" entry and choose first last or last, first. I am not sure if it is just in the rom I am using or in all of them, but it is a place to start looking.
All People -> "Select contact person" -> More (See more information) -> Menu -> Edit -> File as: -> "select first & last name"
Contact changer: http://www.shubaroo.com/index.php?module=contact
haha thats all i had to do?!
thanks that worked perfectly!
ok probably simple but how can you rename the phone ID, my previous phones lg, sony e etc could be renamed to my screen user id " houdini" but i cant find the settings for this on my desire & would appreciate any help on if it can be done.
Settings > Wireless and Networks > Bluetooth Settings > Device Name
and Bob should now be your uncle!
thanks for that, how did not realise noob lol.
Sir, I am new here, so I don't know where to post. My question is that can I view my wifi password in any file of my computer. I have connected my computer to wifi few times but accidentally I have forgotten my wifi password. So can you tell me how to review this password in my computer?
Sent from my Computer Windows 7 using xda app-developers app
WRONG FORUM SECTION! You are offering neither development nor a hack. This belongs in General.
It's not in any "file" per se - it's stored, encrypted, in the registry - but recovery is possible. On Win7 it was even very easy; they changed it in Win8 but I think it's still pretty easy.
Note: working from memory here, as I'm on my WiFi-less desktop.
* Open the WiFi list (you can do this from the Settings charm or by clicking the WiFi button on the taskbar).
* Right-click the network you want to view the password for (you can do this with touch by pressing-and-holding for about a second).
* Choose "Properties" (or whatever has "Properties" in the option).
* If it doesn't open to the Security tab, go to the Security tab.
* Check the "Show characters" button under the password field. May require Admin access.
Alternatively, you can just go to your router's configuration page (usually http://<YOUR_GATEWAY_HERE>/, so for example http://192.168.0.1/) and look it up in there... assuming you haven't forgotten your router password too!
To add to that, if you havent changed the password (which you should), its usually written on the router itself somewhere.
