Changing phone carriers? help - HTC Excalibur

I have a T-mobile dash on a pay as go plan. I unlocked my phone and I am switching to iwireless Megatalk text phone and web.
My issue is that I can't get the internet to work with iwireless. I am guessing it is because T-mobile has some sort of lock with the internet home screen. How can I map the internet to the new carrier iwireless? Do I need to bypass the internet home screen some how? I think iwireless uses the EDGE newtwork the same as T-Mobile? What settings do I need to change and or do I need some sort of login into iwireless internet server? The phone I have is not a iwireless phone but I wouldn't think that it really doesn't matter. iwireless sales HTC phones with WM 6.1 so you would think that it is just a setting.
I think I still have WM 6.0 on my phone, I didn't want to upgrade because I was playing ROM's on my phone, DONKEY KONG....cool stuff....
Thanks,
Captain

Just search for the connection settings online and input into Settings\Connection\GPRS "not sure exact location but sure you can find" you will also want MMS & MMSC

Got help with my carrier
Just called iwireless and they helped me. No biggie took a few minutes.
Thanks,
Captain

WM6 -Simultaneous GPRS+ Connections

(I apologize ahead if this may be "common knowledge" for WM-I'm on a huge catch up on the WM platform and still learning)
For the past few weeks I've gone through Exchange mail hell and various e-mail services and eventually settled on BlackBerry Connect. One of the issues I run into on various cooked ROMs is whether it's hex edited to CE 5.1 (a many thanks JJ on BE) but this is easy to work with. The major problem is a good portion of my 8525 is accessing cingular's APN and not Blackberry's.
The question is is WM capable of simultaneious data connections to both APNs: cingular (US) and blackberry.net or is there a software solution to do this?
There was one case that I've found throughout searching a few too many threads where the member claimed to be able to surf the internet and check e-mail on WMXL .20 but I had no luck on it.
Thanks to everyone.
I am using the BB connect and have had both APN showing up in the "bubble". I wanted to find out if I could surf using the BB APN only as is done on say the Pearl. Or would I need the APN from the cell provider as well. Presently both are on the Sim so I cannot chk.
Want to remove the GPRS APN that I used initially. Will I be able to surf the net using the BB APN.
Interesting that you were able to get both connections in the "bubble" but are you able to use data from the carrier APN while still tranferring data from BB's APN and you're curious on whether we can cut our data plans and move to BIS and be ok? I was wondering the same if so and if I knew that BIS on a non BlackBerry device would work, I'd just tell Cingular that I've got an 8800 and need BIS. Then the 8525 could access both internet and e-mail on one connection.
The thought does come up of whether 2G or 3G/HSDPA would still come in ok on a BIS plan on a 3G device but I would imagine that the speeds are independent of data plans and dependent on hardware only.

Touch Pro 2 Network Freakout.

Ok, heres the skinny. My Fiancee got a US Cellular Touch Pro 2 off Craigslist, I flashed it and made it work on AT&T. It was working wonderfully on AT&T for a few months now, but just a few days ago, it started to freak out. It of course worked fine when I was around, but as soon as she left, it started to not work. This is exactly what she told me is happening:
"As for my phone, it still completely works except for not getting a signal. Or something. It technically says it has several bars, but it also says "Digital Roaming" where it used to say AT&T. Now that I think about it, it did say U.S. Cellular when the problem first started. When I try to send a text it just says "SMS Error" and it can't be sent. Before about an hour ago, when I tried to call someone, it just said it couldn't go through, but now it's saying crazy things like it can't connect to Verizon Wireless and I should contact my phone provider. Then there are the icons. Where usually just the notification icon pops up are now two new symbols. One of them is a tall, skinny triangle and the other is a box with a 1X in it. I can't click on them so I have no idea what they mean. Also, about half the time where the signal symbol is, instead of the regular symbol, it has the bars but also two arrows going in opposite directions."
I hope thats enough information for someone to help me (and her) out here. I rock a HTC Incredible so Windows Mobile is a whole other planet for me.
Have you tried to set it to connect to AT&T only? I've had it swap to T-Mobile (roaming) once, but that's because I forgot to set GSM Network selection to Manual.
(Slide all the way to the Settings Tab -> Wireless controls -> Phone -> Network)
It seems that you will need to set up a new modem connection for the phone to work on the AT&T network. She may have actually been using the US Cellular network all along, up until now and they have most likely caught on to it and she is now being blocked. You will have to set the handset up to use AT&T MediaNET by going into the settings and creating a new modem connection with AT&T's network name, proxy server and DNS settings for it to work right.
I know this because I have just changed one of my handsets over to SimpleMobile from AT&T and I had to set all of this up for my device to work on SimpleMobile's network.
Google around and you should be able to find the information you need to get this problem resolved, ie: network settings for MediaNET, internet and MMS.
Have fun, I know I sure did. lol

Here's some information I got straight from the HTC support site, hopefully they will get you started in the right direction but it does look as though you/she will have to contact AT&T support to get the internet set up since the MediaNET settings are hard set and non-editable. I was going to get them for you from my device but it will not even let me open the settings up to look at them.
What are the Data Network settings for my device using the AT&T Network?
The GPRS settings can be found by going to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections and then Manage my Existing Connections.
The AT&T MEdia Net settings cannot be edited.
For further assistance, contact AT&T.
What are the MMS Settings for my device using the AT&T Network?
The MMS Settings can be accessed on the device by going to Messages Tab>All Messages>Menu>MMS Options>Servers Tab. Tap on AT&T MMS or select New. Server Name: AT&T MMS
Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
Port Number: 80
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via MEdia Net
Send Limit: 600K
For further assistance, contact AT&T

Have an unlocked HD7 running on Att..no mms

i talked to ATT..no help there so i found an APN online and i can use the internet etc.
but my phone will not send or recieve MMS messages
the only info i can enter on the APN is APN, username, and password
there are no editing proxy etc...
can anybody help me with this??
Go to the HTC section of the market and download the connection manager/connection wizard/network profile. I'm not sure what its called but you'll know when you see it. Run the app, select att, enjoy.
thanks! seems to be working...
funny cuz when i opened it up it already said ATT...so i just hit the check mark and it works
Tmobile and ATT both require data connections to send MMS. Since Tmobile and ATT 3g are not compatible, it'll send over EDGE.

It's my understanding there is a method of changing the frequencies of the HD7 to be compatible with the AT&T data service. But you have to contact AT&T for the needed info.
I *seriously* doubt that is true.
TMOUS HD7 --> never get 3G on AT&T.

[Q] ROGERS I747M. Rooted. Travelling in US, NO CONNECTION.

Hey xda-dev.
I recently rooted my phone and did a carrier unlock through the dial code method.
I'm currently in the US travelling, and even though I paid for a unlimited text/call US and Canada, I get a "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY" and now, there's just a circle with a line through it at the top where the signal bars should be.
I will be in the US for another 4 days or so, and I need a way to get my phone to start working because I need to get ahold of friends and people at home while I'm travelling.
Is there any way to reset to default on the service menu? What is wrong with this even? I have no idea how to troubleshoot this whatsoever.
There is nothing wrong with your phone. Who is your carrier? It's probably the fact your carrier does not have any roaming agreement in place where you are.

You'd have to allow roaming. You can call Rogers about it, one thing though, unlimited text/call US & Canada can mean from your city. Once in the US, you're not on Rogers towers anymore, therefor, you get roaming fees.

It's not your service, It's your phone. I noticed this the other day when I went to the states too, but I forgot to make sure that I automatically roamed to the right network.
Try this.... Go to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks -> Network Operators | Searching | -> Automatic
As soon as you go into the Network Ops it will start to search to see what's available around you. Make sure after you've searched its set to Automatic. That way when you are out and about, It will go to whatever network the sim card is in your phone it will choose that one first, but if it can't find that one it will go to the next best thing.
I did the same thing myself when I moved to Vegas for 2 months... I unlocked my sim and put in a T-Mobile card in...
If that doesn't solve the problem, then your phone wasn't unlocked fully. Reason why I say this is I work for Rogers/Fido and have seen this issue a few times other than doing it personally myself.

notifications and default network mode

Hello all,
With this new tmobil global data plan that rolled out, it is really not good in south Texas area. Live on the border and work in Mexico. Cannot get the data from the mexican providers. Called tmobil and said sorry, its you area.
What I am looking to see is:
1. Is there a way to get the mobile network default setup to stick in manual after a re-boot. It always defaults to automatic. I need it on manual because I can still get tmobil in Mexico. It goes in and out but I get it. Otherwise it changes over to moviestar and I will get charged for messaging. Since I have no data connection, I cant use 3rd party apps.
2. Remove or supress the searching for networks popups asking to search for available networks.
If someone can come up with a way to do these, i think it would benefit more people than just me.
Thanks for reading!!
Bob
