facts.
US tmobile rom.
100 % battery at 8am from overnight charge.
used config 3.3 for all advized power savings.
no push internet, or anythign like that..weather etc..all basicaly stock.
no running programs..
connected on the EDGE network.
downloaded 5 emails, responded to 1
browsed opera for 5 minutes
used built in youtube to watch a 5 minute vid clip.
youtube vid clip took 30 minutes to download (due to edge speed)
back of phone very warm as if it were ON a charger
now i am at 75% bat life.
info says
0 standby time
0 talk
1 hour 20 min device usage (of which was only what i had above.)
can i get an opinion? or better yet, can someone do the EXACT same thing and if your at 75% after doing what i did?
i just dont feel right about it...it seems yesterday before i got advice about using my wireless... i tried edge today... and it seems to be identical as yesterday... maybe i feel this way because last week i noticed when i was charging in the car and at work via laptop... the charge light kept going out after 10 seconds and flickering even though it was around 70% full...kind of like i feel that i have 25% dead cells or something...
Hi there,
You might want to try this as i remeber reading this in a thread about the battery life of the tp 2. With adv config do not put the power saving settings on for the memory card as for some reason it uses more power.
However if you are not using a mem card then I am not sure.
Hope that helps
yes i did see that, treid both ways.. no change.
I spoke to tmobile yesterday and they are sending me a new battery.
today i turned the phone on at 100% and seen it drop 3 percent in 15 minutes reading 1 text message....
ill know if this is all solved possbily friday, if i get my new battery.
Hi again,
If it helps, still on stock Rom, not used advanced config to configure any power settings, prefer the manual approach of use the reg for anything I feel the need to change.
Been a slow day today with the Rhodium, but here's my stats for you.
Battery currently at 80%, not using the 1% tweak either.
9hrs 38 mins standby since last full charge (left in docking bay overnight)
6 minutes talk time
37 minutes device usage
16GB Sandisk card, HSPL, Stock Rom, Stock Radio, Tmob UK
Bluetooth allways on, though not always connected (Mainly HFP and A2DP usage for in car)
my advice, as posted before, do a hard reset, don't apply any tweaks at all and see how it goes.
I have installed a great deal of apps and quite a few reg enhancements (See my tweaks thread 90% of them are on my device)
manually set to GSM (constant bouncing from HSPDA in my location if not forced, which hammers my charge)
Installed apps,
SPB Mobile Shell & TF3D for UI
Exchange push mail active
TT7, Coreplayer, Skype, TCPMP, FMRadio, DOTFred Taskmanager,MAXTTM TF3D Config, WKTask, PIMBackup, PowerRadio, SPB Radio, SPB TV, MP3 Trimmer, MP3 Alarm, Beastmaster, VoiceCommand, and a *** load of games.
Are you using a wall charger to charge in the evenings or only USB?
How low do you let the device get before charging again.
Normally I would charge whenever possible, charges in the car cradle, charges when docked in the office.
However today I've let stay uncharged all day to monitor just for you mate
Cheers,
Beasty
THANKS.. that does give me some info..
im definatly going to get a new battery..
i will hard reset tonight...
you mention you dont use config 3 for your tweaks, you just go into the reg...
i was thinking that too.. this all seemed to start around the time i installed that program....( i did check the memory card powersave option)
tonight i will hard reset...and try what you do...
appreciate your help...
quick question, since im doing a hard reset and reloading my tmo rom back in to stock.... i read a post where someone said that if you cancle the "extra" instalations during this time, it wont load in the extra tmobile bloatware...
are you familiar with this?
I have also noticed if the notification lights goes blinking or maybe flickers, the battery is consumed more than its usual when it stays off. I do not know why....

Yes,
You used to be able to soft reset during auto config, however I had heard reports that this no longers works on the Rhodium.
Cheers,
Beasty
I noticed that processor intensive stuff like watching videos drains the battery quite fast. I was watching a 2 hour movie and the battery was down by about 50%. So battery killers I noticed so far are:
- Surfing on mobile data connection (just keeping it online but without data transfer seems to have little impact on battery life, so things like push mail or push internet shouldn't drain the battery that much).
- GPS
- Anything CPU / Graphic intensive like Videos, Navigation system.
No surprises here, actually. Apart from that, i have very decent battery life of about 3 days normal usage (little surfing, push mail, push internet, 10 minutes of calls per day and using a few apps (task tracker and a few games .
heres an update...
last night i did what beasty recomended... i hard reset.. installed only icons etc...stopped push internet...opera..etc...
the only thing i DIDNT reinstall was System congif 3.3..
i immediatly noticed a difference in LESS battery drain....
so far, i am leanign towards System config program does something that increases battery drain...
althogh there are a few settings in that program i would like to use, i am very hesitant on reinstalling it as it might cause a problem again...
heres a couple questions for all..
is there any way i can copy MY rom with all the settings programs icons, etc etc.to be able to flash my stuff back? Not just back up my stuff.. but everything i done..so if i ever had to hard reset, i would be hard reseting to MY settings and rom and not factory tmo rom?
also, if i were to install system config, and it changes settings...if i were to UNINSTALL sys config, do all the settings now go back to what they were before i installed it?
i would like to try and confirm it was sys config causing problems, but dont want to have to hard reset all over again...
Uninstalling Advanced Config will NOT revert settings.
Look into UC, most cooked Roms are UC compliant now thanks to Sleuth's code, see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337
and
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=AutoRun
Once you understand UC, you can create your own customisations, apps list to install etc etc, this way each time you flash a Rom, or hardreset all your apps and configs are applied automatically by UC.
Hope that helps,
ps, advanced config is not currently listed as supporting the Rhodium
Cheers,
Beasty
yes that helps ALOT!
thank you..
i will see if i can understand UC... maybe if so then it would help me greatly...
i will stay away from advance config...
thanks for all your help... im currently learning about my TP2 while learning how to rebuild my clutch on my Ninja...lol...

Enjoy,
Rebuilding the clutch on a Ninja........ easy job too
Rebuilt many a bike, I think every rider should, gives you a much better understanding and appreciation for your machine, especially when your getting close too the 200MPH mark round the track, who better to trust than yourslef, knowing that you put every single nut and bolt in there.
Great fun, I once burnt a whole through two pistons at 180 (fortunately down the straight)
Seems we share a few similar hobbies mate, good luck with both.
The Wiki is always a good place to start on here when learning things.

both are a great help from people like you... i just finished replacing my fork seal... but its still leaking.. ill have to look very close on second repair.. must be some sort of scratch... the best was when i using my TP2 to view the repair manual as i was working on it!!
I have updated my tp2 with the official dutch 6.5 rom.
But my battery is eating in a day !! with use.
and no I have no push internet ,wheater or stocks updates automaticly on !!
While with winmobile 6.1 2 days battery time with verry often internet use !
Sometimes its fully loaded en after 1 night ( 8 hours the phone is completely empty on standby !!! en the device is turned off because the battery is completely empty.
How can a phone eating the battery on standby ? doing nothing
sometimes when I locked the phone I see for 1 second a red underlined box but
its gone before I can read the message.
The redunderlined box seems to be identical to the box : cant get "connection" wich you can get when the phone has not a connection.
Please help !
6.5 has a better internet experience.
but the the wheater or stocks tab update sometimes get out of connection even the internet has sometime this problem.
The 6.5 sometimes freezes for 3-4 seconds when locking the phone.
But Overal I must say I want to keep the 6.5 I like it !!
NOW ONLY SOLVING THE BATTERY EATING !!
Has someone the solution or same problems ?
same problem here...
I might have an Idea about the problem
Before the TP II I had the Tytn II. I've updated that phone with manila, and that also drownes my battery. A while later I updated my RADIO, to an older version, and the problems were gone.
So my guess is here:
The standard Radio with the dutch TP2 WM6.1 ROM is not suitable for WM6.5 somehow it drowns the battery very fast.
question is: where to find a (good) ROM?

I've opened another topic with the same question. Please concentrate all reply's to 1 topic.

hi one thing to do flash a custom rom sergio cell pro 5.5 rom is good for battery speed stable or any of the ohter roms ngrz fusion shadowline ark try a few custom roms out and see what you like stock rom sucks remember to use hard spl and follow the steps theres a styki thread in rom section how to do this
grtz weesje
Yes ok but I do not want to use hardspell because I lose the garanty from my new phone.
besides that.
HTC is delivering an update for their own product. Don't they have an obligation to make sure that even the battery stays okay?
I don't want custom roms (though I appreciate the work done on Cust.Roms by the XDA users!) because of my guaranty!
but 12 hours with 1 battery is also NOT an option!
Don't know yet if my battery is suffering under WinMo 6.5, but what I do know is that 6.5 uses a lot more RAM than 6.1. You've already disabled pushinternet and here is what youi can do to release even more RAM:
" Trying to relase even more RAM, my search ended at pocketnow.com with an article regarding your cab and they also suggested to perform another registry tweak (via PPCGeeks) to release even more memory. The suggested reg tweak is: “go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\ResProxy” using a registry editor and change “ShareMemSize” to 0" (on my TP2 it says 391891).
After a soft reste my TP2 starts with 41% of RAM usage instead of 55%. That should save battery life.

Can i have the s/n of someone who has a WWE English phone?
I have a dutch version also..
But i dont want the phone in Dutch..
want to keep it english..
Thnx..
p.s. maybe also the solution to the battery drain?

Have you done a hard reset? My Tilt 2 will last almost 2 days in standby with my normal set of programs running, S2U2, cellid (uploads CID every N minutes if changed), aebattery, using Pocket Plus for today screen with Pocket Weather running inside it, etc.
If I enable FlexMail with 2 online IMAP mailboxes and 6 periodically synced boxes, it drops down to 19 hours or so.
Your situation is not normal.
hard reset who knows the buttons I must press ?
volume up - volume down en power button ?
something like that ?
there is another possibility to perform a hard reset (only works as long as you can access your phone):
go to settings - system - (and because your have a Dutch ROM) - go to the item "opslag wissen" (erase everything). This returns the phone to the factory settings, e.g hard reset. It will ask you to enter the password to perform that action: this is 1234.
Some of my battery data for you to compare with your own TP2:
I'm running stock WinMo 6.5.
battery data:
standby time: 22,5 hours
talking time: 3 mins
device usage: 2 hours
remaining battery: 72%
RAM usage: 43%
Hard reset did the job.
pressing green-red-power button and read the message.
pres only volume up and device resetting.
after that I had 30 hours batt life en stil 2 stripe on batt indicator
Oh backup your device before hard resetting !!
maybe I was to fast reacting before ...
I've recharged my battery again. Now, after 30 hours and 31 minutes, I still have 51% battery life left. (with 20% drowning last 3 hours...)
so there's hope!

No SPB here, but Settings -> System is where I looked, perhaps not in my ROM. No biggie.
hi all
ive been having major difficulties controlling batt drain and 100% cpu usage after rooting and then flashing a custom firmware.
it usually...almost always..in fact- happens when i switch on wifi together with auto-sync data.
so i thought it must be one of the sync accounts, plus I'd read a bit about htc sync accounts sucking batt. So I disabled most...and there was improvement. but then it still does happen once in a while..once or twice in the middle of the night, meaning i woke to a dead phone in the morning. every time it gets so bad that I just have to reboot the phone.
when the slow down happens, i open up osmonitor, watched Android's own process log or the HTC launcher's log and i'd usually see a million of these:
gc_for_malloc freed xxxx objects / xxxx bytes in xxx ms
but am unable to troubleshoot further because it seems to be nothing meaningful.
anyone got any ideas?

I have the same problem just like yours!
I don't know how it happens?
But I founded a way to solve it temply.
when you saw the CPU load are 100% and system runs lagging.
First, launch the "set CPU" if you had installed.
Than you'll see the frq. Goes to 245 Mhz if you're set profile to "ondemand"
don't need doing anything, At least, you can see that CPU load are back to 5%~15%
As normalized. I don't know how it works? But it works everytime.
I'm using coredroid v3.2 and O/C 1.2G Hz, desire hd.
Can anyone who can tell us how it happend?
I've read that this is a common problem with many custom ROMs. If I remember correctly it had something to do with a file being constantly read. So you have to set permissions for that file which forbid reading. The trouble is that the system changes permissions again, and you have to constantly change the permissions using a sheduled script. It works but doesn't really solve the problem. The solution is to flash a custom ROM which has this fixed. Android Revolution HD 3.2 is one of them. With 3.1 I had this issue, now with 3.2 it's gone for good.
haha i don't know how you managed to get to setcpu..
mine is a near-freeze most of the time and would probably take forever to get there
but if i do get the chance i'll give it a try, thanks.
thanks, am indeed running on 3.0 so i'll give 3.2 a try.
Ok so I bought this phone on Monday. The very first day it gave me a mammoth battery life. I mean a ridiculous OST of 5h 45m 9s and still 7% juice left (screenshots attached in 2nd post).
And then the very next day issues started. First the Android OS... I charged my phone 100% and slept. Woke up and saw it at around 61%.. Shocked and unhappy. Googled a bit and by Noon I stopped a lot of Samsung **** going on at the back. Android OS became normal but MEDIA started to show its baddd side..
And just try to see in the screenshots, it shows the WIFI was on all time/all the time. However I never turned it on. It was off all night.
Screenshots are attached below. Would love some help/guidance here.
And one more thing. All of a sudden the Lock Screen's funky wallpaper has changed into a blue screen wallpaper that has some weird shortcuts ! Why is it happening. Restating the device brings back the same funky paint color wallpaper but then within minutes its back to the same sh*t.
First day usage SCs
do you have any screenshot(s) of the blue screen wallpaper with the weird shortcuts? I'm not experiencing any issues like this.
Don't you think you've touched it unconsciously while you're asleep with parts of your body that toggled the wifi and other stuff?
Try a factory reset

Oh factory reset sucks lol. By the way, I was reading from somewhere (android central forum i think) that to kill Android OS frome ating up all battery, install some CLEAR RAM app to clear your RAM.. which I did. And yesternight I figured out that this clear ram app changed my lockscreen itself..without asking me. So i deleted. Also, I deleted everything on SD Card and removed it. Now I dont know whats keeping the Android OS and MEDIA up all the time. The apps I have installed so far are:
skype, whatsapp, viber, sacebook and temple run. They were installed from day 1 so if they are creating problems, why didnt they create any impact on Day 1? And these are pretty normal apps which I dont think should create any problem.
Plus, wifi always on issue is resolved to by unchecking some option in wifi menu.

first l sympatise with you. There is no problem on Unrooted phone that factory reset cannot Solve except it is factory fault issue, but this is not factory Cos it was ok on day 1.
Your instant messager like Skype and BBM are mainly the applications that hog battery.
Ensure you did not restrict background processes in Developers option.
Ensure your wifi 'and GPS are off when you don't need them.
Don't install any process killer.
Stop auto update
put your phone in battery saving mode.
check to see If there is downloading process going on at background
Also see if there is live streaming (MEDIA SERVER) going on sites you visited like Youtube.
check the running processes in application manager in setting and check if any is constantly RESTARTING. Look for a way to stop such .
Above all try to wait for the research l did on BATTERY POWER AND DATA MANAGEMENT which I will post soon.
Good Luck

When I record a video, the phone goes up to 45 degrees and it overheats not only in video but even in normal usage.I stopped playing games thanks to this phone. Definately, not only you brother.
During video recording it gets overheated... But normal usage, I think not that much! try stopping background unnecessary applications - that are running, even when you don't need them.
Try to stop auto launch for not needed applications.
If your processor takes less stress, it will not be that much overheated.

I'm already doing what you said bro, it's been 2 months since I bought the phone, there is almost nothing on the phone, the memory is empty, there are very few applications, the application running in the background is very little, the ram is usually 7 gb free.I don't understand what's the problem, it automatically turns off many features when it gets hot
