sim pin?
When asking something like this you should provide a keystroke-by-keystroke guide to replicate the event exactly, because its not till its replicated that troubleshooting can begin in general.
i'm going to assume its the general lock screen pin thing:
winmo start button -> settings -> personal tab -> lock

He means typing your password to unlock it in general. It's not a problem, just annoying. I completely agree. I thought I saw video of someone using 6.5 and they didn't have to type their password. I've searched and I couldn't find an answer.

Yes, S2U2 is a great alternative. I use it, and love how it allows you to see your email, sms, appointments, and battery level all without unlocking.

yea sorry, i meant when the phone goes to sleep or not used...or active sync..it doesn't go away because it's a security prompt. i installed throttlelock and apparently the security prompt came on after soft reset, and i couldn't by pass it because it didn't recognize my pin, i then had to hard reset the whole phone because after six attempts everything got wiped out...
i'm not sure if s2u2 will do the same..meaning, install, then soft reset, and the pin prompt comes back on to finish booting the phone...

S2U2 doesn't use a pin. You just slide your finger to unlock the phone. It's not so much about security as it is about protecting your phone from being used accidentally... like a typical key lock.

for some reason i installed s2u2, but when charging, i get the s2u2 slide lock and also the pin lock prompt again...any idea how to get rid of the pin lock prompt when charging the phone?

Disable lock/slide screen? Is there a way?

OK...
The locks on my phone are very redundant to say the least.
In order to get to my home screen I have to do the following:
1. Press the button on top of the phone.
2. Slide the first lock down.
3. Draw in my security code to get past the lock out.
Step 3 can be shut on and off but I like this security so people can't mess with my phone. However considering I have to do step 1 before and step two also, it seems a tad over kill.
Can I disable step 2, the slide down lock screen?
Basically when I press the button on the top of the phone I want to be RIGHT at the screen where I draw in my lock pattern and or hit emergency call. I was unable to find anything in the settings. Did I miss it or is it really not there? If it's not there is there any other way to do it?
I'll fully rooted if that helps.
Try "No Lock" in the Market. It gets rid of the lock screen (and has a toggle widget). Not sure the effect on the security though.
No Lock gets rid of both the slide to unlock and the security passcode entry. Very handy if you don't care about security, but you get your mail from an Exchange server and they force you to have a security password.
Don't know how to just get rid of the slide to unlock.
i have a droid incredible with the same setup..sorta...i am running virtuous2.7
have u found a way to do this without No Lock?

To verify my understanding, the OP wants to, on his Evo, disable the Sense drag/slide-down screen lock, and only use the pattern lock.
The problem is that the Sense lock remains even when the pattern lock is enabled. (Unlike the Nexus 1, the AOSP screen lock is automatically disabled when pattern lock is enabled).
Are you indicating that Switch Pro Widget will DISABLE the Sense slide-down lock while maintaining the pattern lock?

Would like to know, as my buddy was asking me about this.

If you use cyanogen rom, add power control widget and add the lockscreen option. Any time that widget is off when you hit the power button to unlock the phone you will go straight to pattern lock or home screen if you don't have one.

I would pay for an app/widget that handled this...
delete the sense lockscreen from the phone, it's just a file you can remove. Once you do that the system reverts to the standard aosp lock screen (or the pattern if you have security set).

I'm aware of this mod. People should be aware that you will need root access to delete the file. At the same time, I read that even with the AOSP/standard/vanilla lock screen, it (the standard lock screen) does NOT go away when the pattern lock is ENABLED.
For the Nexus 1, the standard lock DOES go away when pattern is ON, but it does not seem so with the Evo.
Can someone verify/dispute?
Thanks.
I can verify that after deleting the HTClockscreen.apk from my phone Vanilla lock appeared after a reboot. I then enabled a pattern lock only to find the Vanilla lock still necesary before getting to the pattern lock screen.

Thanks. 1st post for CzarMat!!! Exactly my point--we need to find a way to make the Vanilla lock go away when pattern lock is enabled. But how??
This is all a bit redundant if the OP has Exchange security enabled on his device, which he has yet to clarify (unless I missed something).
I'd like an answer to this also...
Post 2.2, I was able to use No-Lock from the market to do exactly what the OP is asking. I have an Exchange account with a Security Policy (PIN) in place and have since upgraded to 2.2. It's a little redundant that I have to hit power, slide to unlock, then enter pin.
My workaround, for now, is setting the PIN lock screen to enable after 5 minutes, however I still have to slide regardless - UGHH, annoying.
I just want it to work the way I had it before with 2.1
is there any way to edit or app that enables a longer time period before the lock pattern screen comes up? LIke i think the max is like 15min
I want to be able to at least set the lock pattern screen to a 1hr interval, maybe 2hr
is this possible somehow?
Well, you can hit the "menu" capacitive button instead of sliding for a quicker unlock to the pattern security screen. That's what I normally do since it's a bit of finger acrobactics from the power button->aosp slide unlock->pattern screen.

I agree. Apparently this is possible, I'm working on a solution right now. Perhaps an app I can release to the market. It will essentially unlock the phone for you - you may see a bit of the lock the second you unlock the phone, but if things go according to plan it will automatically bypass the slide lock for you.
[edit:] Sorry for the zombie thread revival - Still trying to find a solution for this problem.

Excellent news! Still looking for a solution. I think simulating a "menu" press will unlock the screen. Looking foward to it. Thanks!!
anyone come up with a solution for this?

[Q] Starburst Rom lockscreen issue.

I've recently bought the 4g touch and installed the starburst rom and I've found that if I have any kind of security setup (pin, password) that none of the lockscreens seem to be enabled. As soon as I wake the phone up it throws me straight into the pin/password screen. Has anyone else ran into this type of issue before and have a fix? Any help would be appreciated because I'm at a loss for solution and even google isn't helping me unfortunately.

I am not sure if this is how it is supposed to function or not, but I can confirm that this is the same behavior I experience. If you select "None", then the pin lock doesn't even come up. I have to select sgs2 and it will then show my lock screen... but yeah, if you select anything else with a lock setup it does not show that lockmod. -Grand
this is the expected behavior. otherwise you'd have to unlock the phone twice everytime once for the pin then once for the normal lockscreen.
i've never used a pin on any of my phones is the dual unlock normal/what you were expecting ?

My previous two phones, HTC Hero and Evo 4g both had the lockscreen show up, swipe to unlock, and the pass/pin screen show up. I suppose I figured that was default behavior for most phones. To me it makes the most sense to me to have the lockscreen, swipe to unlock, then show pin/pass screen since it would allow flexibility of music controls/phone/sound without having to log into the phone and provide some basic security.

[Q] Disabling ring swipe unlock

Guys, have a new One X. Am gonna leave it on the stock rom for a few weeks.
How in the name of god do you disable the ring swipe unlock screen?
Even when I put in none, it's still there. When I put in PIN unlock, I have to swipe the ring first, then put in my PIN. It's seems pointless
Thanks
just unlock it, you will get much better performance using arhd rom and do things like adfree (remove ads from free aps) and reset minfree values for multi tasking, etc.
let me put it mildly, the stock rom sucks,
You're confusing device lock with screen lock. If you only had a pin (device lock, for security) you would be forever unlocking and entering the wrong pin while in your pocket.
The ring part (screen unlock, to prevent unwanted input) can't be removed without modification.
Thanks. Looks like customised rom it is so!

Right, I unlocked it and stuck Android Rev. HD on it. So far so good. Seem like a nice ROM, even for the lack of bloatware coming from the stock ROM.
I can't find this customization. Does it exist? Am I stuck the ring unlock?
Thanks
I for one would also like to disable the ring lock seems like overkill as you still have to press the volume button to activate the phone
so these are the precautionary steps:
1. Power button
2. Swipe Ring
3. Security feature (Facial Recognition, Pin, Pattern)
I think as @flanobrian stated we want to cut out part 2 of the process
its just abit of overkill that I would like to control
Yes, the problem is, I've the phone set up for Microsoft Exchange for my work emails, which requires me to also put in a 5 digit pin. It's a pain in the ass have to swipe the ring and also do the pin.
Android always has a lockscreen so you will always have to unlock it and then enter your pin, regardless of Android version

My previous Galaxy S didn't have that. All I had to do was hit the home button and the enter the PIN?
i dont know if this is what you want but try this to get rid of (ring unlock) go into settings - personalize - then lock screen styles and go to the last one it is called
No Lock Screen and apply
i did this and now no longer have to use the ring just power button and im in
hopefully i read this right and
hope this is what you wanted

[Q] My screen locks too often (requiring pattern or pin very often). Why?

I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue. I have to enable a PIN or pattern lock to allow a corporate secure wifi network setting to be saved and for something else (I think for my bank app). From the G4 settings it seems like you can set it to NOT lock when turning off with power button (last option), and a 30 minute timeout before it auto-locks. Yet despite that, mine still seems to lock requiring a pattern input and not just a swipe if I leave it on the table for just a minute. What am I missing?
Thanks all!

These settings are under Lockscreen. Right at the end. It should work, unless you have another app controlling locking.
Exactly.. it "should work"... but it isn't. It insist on locking all the time.. Could the fact that I"m connected to said secure WIFI cause that?? (vs just having an entry for it)
You could try going under the setting for Security - Phone administrators. Look if there is something that is controlling phone lock.
I know for my example, I must enable PIN locking, but my phone administrator for that account enables up to 30 minutes before forcing lock. So as long as I uncheck the setting for "Lock phone immediately on power button," my phone will immediately be unlocked within a 30 minute window where I don't need to enter my PIN.

Right, that's what I'm going for / expecting. I have 3 in there, Android Device Manager, Support & Protection (Verizon thing it looks like) and AirDroid. Only Android Device Managers is checked ON. ADM can obviously affect the lock screen and can change the lock password, but I don't see anything else which would affect this timeout being ignored. hmmmm
(Thanks, BTW!)
I was looking at my Smart Lock section and read the blurb about On-body detection, which was the only Smart Lock I had enabled. It says "Just unlock once and your device stays unlocked as long as you keep holding your device or carry it on you." .... "Your device will lock when it detects that it's been set down"..!! So, I've now turned on-body detection OFF as, in this case, it's working against me. Seems it's not too well integrated with the other options (ignores the Security Lock Timer).
If I don't post back, it's probably working as hoped.
Disabling on-body detection has definitely solved my issue with the G4 locking shortly after setting it down on the desk.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 ONE UI PIE 9 Pattern Unlock Issue!

Hi i was rooted on Oreo 8.1 everything was fine, i just updated to ONE UI PIE 9 it updated fine and it booted up fine..
