am i asking to much for better performance:)

i have a TP2 on TMo and i am just not seeing why things have to be so difficult to take care of basic stuff. i have had my TP2 for a few 3 weeks and am not liking how the wifi, touch sensitivity, and browser function. I got my hands on a iphone 3gs 32gb and used it for the last week. There are HUGE differences between the phone and am amazed that there is. I was using their "safari" brower here on my wifi home network and it was flying and screens formed fast for being a hand held device. I switch back to the TP2 and it was about a third of the speed. WHY!!!! I have skyfire and opera on the phone and they both acted the same way. what is so annoying is when you go to scroll a page it has no clue how to remember how the page looks and does the little grey and white checker board.
I don't understand why the touch is sooooo much better on the iphone than the TP2. i could actually type somewhat normal better on the iphone than on the TP2. it reads the touch great and with very few errors. when i go to the contacts i can flick up or down and it actually scrolls. i do the same action on the TP2 and most of the time it dials the number at where i tried to flick the list.
why are they such differences in performance and how to i correct these differences.

There's no way to "correct" the differences.
What you are experiencing regarding the touch sensitivity is a capacitive screen versus a resistive screen. If you understand how a resistive screen works, and adjust accordingly, then scrolling is just as smooth. Just apply a bit of pressure.
Safari browser is indeed fast. But Opera is not too shabby. Consider this. Opera does real-time text reflow. I'm almost positive that this is one of the factors that hinders the performance. However, I'd still rather have real-time text reflow. It's better than on the Safari where you have to pan horizontally and vertically if you zoom in to the text.
If you understand the differences and you still can't live with them, then this device is probably not for you. Better return/exchange it while you can.

With resistive touch like on the TP2 you have to apply a little bit of pressure. I have a friend who just got the iPhone 3GS and I don't see/feel much difference between he's capacitive screen and my resistive screen. It's all about feeling and technique, seriously.

Resistive
A resistive touchscreen panel is composed of several layers, the most important of which are two thin, metallic, electrically conductive layers separated by a narrow gap. When an object, such as a finger, presses down on a point on the panel's outer surface the two metallic layers become connected at that point: the panel then behaves as a pair of voltage dividers with connected outputs. This causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touch event and sent to the controller for processing.

It should give you a good idea of how the two types of screens work and why you have to use different methods in order to get most out of resistive screens.

I have to agree, the iPhone's touch screen is flawless in operation.

it was so sweet playing with one for the week. now i understand the difference and it will run the phone accordingly.
is there a way to make the keypad for the dialer full screen so typing numbers will be easier and faster?
how do i move icons around to different pages. i hate i cannot just hit one button to get to the dialer. i have to do 3 steps to get to the dialer and it is stupid since this is a PHONE to make calls.

Sounds like iDialer is what you're looking for if you want a full screen keypad.
What 3 steps are you taking to get to the dialer? Just press the call button? Also the left soft key on the home tab of also gets you to the dialer.

From my vantage point I see 5 issues:
1. As stated above, you need to learn the differences between the screen technologies.
2. You need to use the TP2's hardware keyboard. No onscreen keyboard can compare.
3. If you want a hamstrung, entertainment device, feel free to migrate to an iphone. If you want a relatively open device with depth and breadth, take the time to learn the Win Os. It does take some time to learn, but once you do, you realize how much of a toy many other devices are.
4. You don't seem to be aware that ATT's network has been optimized for and gives preference to iphones. Not to mention that many sites have special pages cleverly and clandestinely optimized for the iphone. They look in many ways like the real thing and you think that you are getting the "full web," but alot of functionality is missing.
5. Most important, and no disrespect to all the chef out there, you are using a cooked rom. These roms promise a great deal, but in the long run most fail to deliver because they introduce more problems than they solve.
I have handled the iphone fairly extensively and it is a good device in its own right. I has a really easy and intuitive interface but it is in a different and lower class than the TP2. It is meant for casual users who use their phones primarily for entertainment. It is really a dressed up feature phone and not a true smartphone.
I use my smartphone (TMobile TP2) for entertainment and for business from VPN client to Wifi internet access router to remote desktop to watching movies to email to GPS to document creation (incl. powerpoint slideshows and spreadsheets) to games (incl. many kinds of emulators), all with free software! Nowadays, I hardly ever have to pull out my netbook. My phone is nimble and loads web pages incredibly fast. At home in VA, I get between 500-600 kbps on avge, up to about 900kbps on a good day. I was in NYC this weekend and got 1260kbps fairly consistently. How's that for performance? Can an iphone do all that?
Bottom Line: Learn Win Os or even Android, you'll be more satisfied in the long run and at the very least you won't be captive to Steve "Jesus" Jobs whims.

my last phone was a G1 with droid and it was neat on the web pages. what browser are you using which you are getting lightning speed. i have an N router at home on cable internet. I wifi to it and it is the lowest loading pages i have ever seen on a phone. My G1 outran it and the iphone just smoked all above. i have opera, skyfire, and IE on the phone...what do you suggest to get the most out of it?
and yes i agree i have to learn the phone and all the info on this post has been extremely helpful and gave me a HUGE understanding of what i am running.

I find Opera Mobile 9.5 and 9.7 performance to be underwhelming at first. But I find that disabling java-script helps significantly. Most sites that I visit don't need java-script for me to see the content anyway. And disabling it, means I block a lot of ads from loading.
You can also try Opera Mobile 10 which is in beta right now. It's pretty quick in my experience. But I personally settled back for 9.7 because of it's flexibility in terms of zooming in and out of pages.

Troubleshooting Internet Speed
1. Make sure the rom/you are not running any memory hogs. Push Internet is a notorious memory-sucking monster: disable it. Ideally, your TP2 should have under 50% ram usage when you boot up and ensure you refresh the memory every few hours. CleanRam does this beautifully and automagically.
2. Double-check that you are in fact getting a 3G signal and operating at 3G speeds. Use mobilespeedtest.com or dslreports.com/mspeed to test. Anything less than 500 mbps might indicate a problem.
3. How many bars do you have? 3G requires a strong, quality signal. You might want to contact ATT to ensure that you have the correct sim and provisioning for your line and for this particular phone. (This last point is based on my experiences with ATT in the past. My phone, for some unknown reason, was ignoring the tower nearby. This may be a long shot but might be worth it.)
4.Consider flashing back to a stock ROM to see if anything improves.
5. Make sure you are using the latest versions of the various browsers. Have you tried the latest opera mini, opera mobile, or skyfire browsers? Stay away from IE; it really stinks! I get terrific results using skyfire because of the fact that it is essentially a thin client where all the necessary processing is done server-side.
6. When using opera mobile check its settings via opera:config or opera:about to make sure it is not searching for a proxy server.
7. If you are close to a major metropolitan area, use google's dns servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This is a long shot, but when I was in NYC I did see an overall improvement of latency.
8. Check to see if wifi improves the problem. If not, check router settings. Have you tried optimizing for performance rather than for battery/neutral in wifi settings on the phone? The TP2 can only connect to g and b networks. A or n are irrelevant to its operation.
9. What sites are you trying to access? Websites do have special scaled down pages for the iphone and increasingly for android phones. You might want to spoof the user agent on your device. Essentially, this makes the website "think" that you are using a different device. The upside about using the user agent settings as is is that you do get more of the internet the way you would experience it on a desktop. That's also its downside. By trying to eat too much of the internet, the browser can choke the system. Remember, the TP2 has a 528 MHz processor and memory in the MBs, not GBs.
10. Make sure the cache, history, and cookies are cleared before testing. Corruption in any of these three areas can compromise page rendering.
I've been watching youtube videos via the app and skyfire and video news from AP.org via skyfire and have not had a hiccup. So I know this device has a sufficiently good internet capabilities.

11. Check to make sure you are using the correct APN. Some APN's have known speed and port limitations. Get that info from your carrier.

Need some suggestions for my Tilt 2

I'm 25, a business guy (though I use my phone for personal use only) and have been looking over the forums for the best way to get the most use out of my phone. Right now I've just got the stock rom with only a couple of cabs installed. I've got my e-mail set up on it (though I have some issues with the send/receive not occurring when it's supposed to) and installed a few games. What I really want to be able to do with my phone is web surfing. There's some website I like to frequent.. a lot.. but it seems with the stock settings the internet is pretty slow. I do a lot of texting and e-mail replies as well. A few free games here and there would be nice too. I'm in a pretty stable 3G area, don't have any bluetooth devices hooked up nor do I use the wi-fi (haven't found a reason to use this really yet)
Looking through the forums I've gotten somewhat overloaded as to what I should get for my phone in terms of performance enhancements. Any suggestions to help with the above would be great.
note: I've never messed with my phone's registry or have flashed a rom, but would be willing to do so if the information could be provided.

E-mails:
I really really really like seven beta for e-mails. I've posted the CAB here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634213
Internet:
TP2 has a feature called push internet, basically you can set websites to be automatically updated so the next load will be much faster. Browse to the internet tab in sense and set up the websites you frequent most often. I've heard it wastes battery life so I do not use it.
In terms of internet speed, I actually think we aren't full 3g on TP2 network. Here are the specs of the TP2 and a phone with full 3g. As you can see under data the tp2 is not the fastest available device:

Flashing rom/registry
Based on the overview you have given I would say registry tweaks and flashing a custom ROM isn't needed, although I love Mighty Mikes 6.5 much better than VZWs.

Thanks for those links. I installed Seven and love the push feature that it gives for my e-mail. It works like a charm, however there's an issue I'm running into. It seems that in order for Seven to work it needs to stay running constantly, and it won't let me close it. I'm also now having issues closing any other app that I run by holding down the "X". Between these two issues, and my phone not going into sleep mode as much as it should be my battery is already down to 30% (and it's not even 5pm yet =/)

I've heard push internet can really tax on the phones battery life, not sure if you are using that feature though.
Seven works perfectly fine for me having it running all day...I went a full 24 hours and was at 30%, I have 4 e-mail accounts synced through Seven.
Do you know what your phone RAM idles at? Try downloading and installing SSK TP2 Dynamic Resource proxy, it may help out with some of your problems.
I'm not sure what the closing issue is...could just be that your phone is using too much RAM, which the SSK cab should fix.

SPB mobile shell 3.5 is the best program for nonROM Cookers. Here is the link. Download the trial and PM me.
I use it the backup and various other things I found on here.
The SMS notification is a major annoyance so download the cab to disable it.
After you use your phone for a while- trust me, XDA will become a favorite to find tweaks to make your phone seem new again.

Demonic, based on the fact that you like to use the internet a lot I would highly recommend moving to a cooked rom when you feel comfortable. At&t doesn't open up the phones true potential with their "stock" rom. It's locked to 3G and a cooked rom will activate HSDPA which will double or triple 3G speeds. I can sustain download speeds over 2000kbps. Also the whole phone will be much more responsive.
There's a bit of reading needed and a learning curve but I'm sure you can handle it. I'd never even knew what flashing was in the fall of 08' and a year later I had flash my Fuze at least a 500 times. I've had the Tilt2 since Nov and it's been flashed over 50 times already

Its a great product with many intuitive features...for me it required a restart everyday though....which wasn't acceptable.

So now I'm having some issues with Seven... I have a good 3G signal, have restarted the phone multiple times, but it will only stay connect for a short time. When I go into the Seven settings I'm seeing a yellow broken symbol for the connection. I have to manually refresh all the data for the e-mail account in order for it to update. Some times it works great, others.. not so much.

I had the spb mobile shell on my old phone (Epix) and loved it. But I don't think I could spend the money to put the newer version on my Tilt2. =/

No, most ROMs will be fairly similar, with minor visual changes, some feature changes, and different programs installed by default (usually the chefs favorite programs)

With Seven, make sure you don't have quite time on. In seven, hit the Menu soft key (bottom right) and click general settings. Then click the quiet time option and set the hours you do not wish to receive messages.
I think if you paid for the old version of Mobile Shell you can get the new version as well, try e-mailing one of the devs over there to help you out.

I have all of the quiet times turned off except for when roaming or low battery. When I unplugged my phone from the charger this morning it updated my e-mails like it normally does. I checked my phone again around 9:30 and the Seven settings said that it was last connected at 8:30 this morning and showed the "not connected" symbol. I had to manually refresh all data in order for it to re-connect.

If your mailserver supports IMAP I would try Schedhandler made by Camro on these forums it does IMAP IDLE great and doesn't hardly use any battery.

So I noticed Seven losing the connection again today. I then went to my connection settings and attempted to disable Data Connection. When I attempt to do this it automatically connects again. When I then go back to Seven it shows that it's trying to re-establish a connection and MAY connect.
Does anyone know why my e-mail will sometimes stay connected and then drop off irregularly?

I've tried many different settings (POP3 and IMAP4) using the basic MMS functions with windows 6.5 but have had issues receiving e-mails on a regular update basis. I had the same isssue with 6.1. Some times e-mails will work properly, other times I have to reboot my phone, or pray for my e-mails to receive. Even after doing a Send/Receive I still won't get e-mails on my phone at times.
I'm using sbcglobal for my e-mail, but if this keeps up I'm thinking of switching back to hotmail or gmail =/

Actually, I'm really surprised no one's been able to do a registry hack in terms of the HSDPA function.
And yeah, I agree...there's some really good chef's with cooked ROMs that blow the Death Star's crap and crippleware laden ROM to "Hades in a Longaberger". Unfortunately I've not had my phone 30 days yet, so I'm a little hesitant to flash yet. (even though I flashed my Kaiser/Tilt quite regularly once it was out of warranty)
As soon as the 30 days expire though...you bet it's gonna get flashed.

Go to your browser and type "about:config".
Find your connections and up them, the stock is like 4 connections and 6 max. I changed them both to 128 and change the page update delay to 0.

See if another email provider has this problem. I currently am connecting to the following and have experienced no errors since install:
Exchange Server
Y! Mail
gmail
POP3
Seems to be sbc related as both seven and your normal mail have issues connecting.

Sorry for the late response. SchedHandler seems to handle misconfigured or poorly configured IMAP servers very well you might want to give it a shot on your SBC account. And the author of the program is very active and makes changes sometimes daily.

Browser - max 4 pages open

My browser will only let me open 4 pages. Why is this, any ideas? To prevent excessive memory usage?

I remember reading somewhere that it has something to do with how thumbnails are displayed.
The only way around it is installing an alternative browser like Opera Mini, Dolphin, Steel, etc.
Though I don't see why would you need more that a couple of tabs open on a phone.

Well I do seem to need more than 4 tabs open, just habit I suppose...
I have used Steel and Dolphin before, but I'm really liking the built-in browser, apart from a couple of niggles - the second one being that when long-pressing a link (to bring up the "open in new window" menu), half the time it launches the text highlighting tool :-(
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Might want to calibrate the screen?

I'm also finding that after browsing for a while, the browser will refuse to open a new page at all, it seems to start loading the new page, then stops loading part-way through.

This problem is now starting to really bug me.
I'm browsing for half an hour or so, and then the browser will just freeze up, and refuse to completely load the current page, links won't work, bookmarks won't open. Clearing the cache doesn't fix the problem, and since there's no way to exit the browser then I'm having to reboot the phone.
Anyone else suffering this way?

I have the similar issue, but it appears only when I switch from Wifi to mobile connection. The only solution I've found is kill browser. Can you please check if it's the same at your side ? if yes it's propably bug in web browser app, because market and everything else is working fine.

No, it's happening to me whether I'm on wifi or 3G (and not switching between the two). I don't have a task manager installed to kill the browser, so I'm having to reboot. Very annoying.
Also another persistent problem is that sometimes the browser will just quit with no warning, when clicking links. It's happened about 6 or 7 times, during (estimated) 4 or 5hrs browsing. When you restart the browser any open windows you had are gone.
I'm not at all impressed with the lack of stability of this browser. I know I could use Steel or Dolphin (with no Flash) instead.
I'm getting a replacement tomorrow, due to the "pink screen" issue, so I'm hoping this handset I have now is just a lemon.
Sadly, I'm thinking maybe they will all be the same. These issues, along with the poor calibration/recognition of where my finger is on the touchscreen sometimes, and the lack of a physical keyboard, are starting to make me re-think my decision about getting this phone.
Even more sadly, my friend's iPhones are looking increasingly more and more attractive :-(

If you don't mind for not having Flash (like iPhone), then you can download "Opera Mini 5" from the Market.
It is much faster and probably will give you better browsing experience.
I am using it for my WM device for years and cannot live without it.
The speed is just so damn fast!

My 1st Impressions of NoDo

It is in general alot smother, and I have not had it crash once!
The Marketplace is much better, no crashing, its always slick, doesnt hang while loading more apps in the list, and the new way of searching is much better.
(However I cannot find a few apps, I assume they have been removed from the marketplace, for example MusicShark?)
Copy and Paste works quite well, took me a few tries to realise the paste section is where the text correction area is.
Faults I have noted so far are...
1. Not sure if it is just me because I have only tried once so far, but after pairing with my car headunit. My car headunit no longer detects the HD7 as a bluetooth audio streaming device, and only as a handsfree device. Which is very annoying.
2.When pressing search in internet explorer, it no longer loads a web page, but loads the bing application.
Overall, it makes the phone even nicer to use, it just feels that bit more responsive, and it way more stable!
Has anyone else used NoDo, who can confirm the above faults?
I am running it on an O2 UK HD7 with 32gb.

Im finding reception better, battery seems to be a bit better too. Still not had one thing crash on me.
Bluetooth audio streaming does work, however its still low quality like it was in 7004/7008, so I cant wait to unlock it again so I can change the registry entry.
Audio streaming still does not work for playing videos.
Push notification seem to work fine all the time now too, I had problems initially getting them to work on some applications (they would work after trying a few times/restarting) but now they just work.
I havent had chance to check for hidden wireless networks yet, the WiFi menu seems identical though (There is nothing to manually type in any settings.)
Overall, it feels now like how I would have expected the phone to feel when I first got it. Everything it does, it does it really well, and it is a pleasure to use.

That's how it's supposed to be.
I can remember a branded T-Mobile ROM where you've been redirected to a stupid search website after pressing the search-button but the standard action is opening BING.

We have three devices in this house hold, a HD7, 7 Mozart and a HD2 with Windows Phone 7, obiously the HD2 hasn't been released yet but the other two are much more reliable. I haven't had a single screen tearing on the HD7 since the update and both phones are much more responsive especially within internet explorer where I used to have numerous crashes.
Copy and paste works lovely although on occasion I have to tap a couple of times for it to pop up the option to copy.
Marketplace is more reliable and stable than the original RTM build and the search changes are greatly welcomed.
I haven't really noticed a change in speed loading application, although the only program I have ever had issues with is Bejewelled Live which takes quite a while to load even after the update.
All running nice and smoothly, just missing having Chevron WP7 to copy over my ringtones.

Just tried Bluetooth again, it works fine
I'm glad it shows the bing app instead of Yahoo search like it did before. Its just I expected it to load the bing web page
So all in all I find it perfect now, just need some sideloading back

You Guys receive the Official NoDo update or did you Flash the leak ROM. I'm Glad to hear that its a STABLE Update & Didn't cause any problem, otherwise this general form will be flooded w/ cry babies.

Good call - and not just watching video through the headset but using the headset's button to initiate Voice Commands and the headset's microphone to talk the command into.

I am using the non-goldcard flashed method of getting NoDo, it was nice and easy to do

After almost half year and MS still can't get this obvious bug to fix. The next update (Mango) will take another half year, and MS is totally silenced when it will get resolve (and who knows if that would be delay too base on MS's current pace). I am totally sick of it and finally have to leave the MS mobile camp after 10+ yrs relationship with MS (my 1st PPC device is iPaq 2210 and my last would be Samsung Focus).

I have to say one thing, some apps really do load faster!! Max and the magic marker used to take an age to load. Now it seems to load in less than half the time.
I wonder if the delays to the update were due to manufactures including bug fixs for specific phones, which means following updates shouldn't be delayed

Not really, I feel like it might have improved slightly... but that might just be because I want it to feel faster lol

i also had some first Impressions of my new nodo
new voice command sound, also understands me very good now.
new htc theme color (nice green)
mozart camera has autofous now (kinda annoying does anyone else have sound feedback, like clicky sound?)
but it does great pictures now, 2 shoots, both perfect, maybe it was luck but it seems it working way better now..
autofocus in video has improoved alot, also recording quallity has greatly improoved in low light and its more stable it seems! yay!

Where were you when Apple and Apple fanboys were bashing MS non stop. Nowhere. And now all you do is complain.
You should have been more supportive of MS before. You should have help defend then and spread the word.

The reason some third party apps lag is because they're badly coded, so no OS update in the world will fix this.

WP7 smooth but slow?

I've been using all kind of apps in my WP7, and I noticed this:
Using 2G/Edge connection, all apps are extremely slow. And much more susceptible to force closes;
Comparing to Android and iPhones, both using the same Edge network, WP7 is much worse handling with this kind of connection then iPhone or Android is. I don't know if the problem is the App, or the whole system. But open the Facebook app for Android and open the Facebook app for WP7. It takes forever using edge. And the app is laggy. But this I think it's not really WP7 fault.
The same with Twitter. It takes about 3~4 the time the iPhone takes to refresh timeline. (Yes, I removed from background before open it in iPhone)
Using 3G or Wifi it gets a lot better, still, it is slower then other OSes.
And I'll not even mention the browser. No match for iOS, tough it is sexy as it is.
The problem is, every single app that I've compared between WP7 and Android or iOS, is a lot slower and laggy. I thought that WP7 was meant to be smooth.
Have anyone else noticed this issue?

To truly compare apps on one OS versus another, you need to have both phones on the same Wifi network, to eliminate carrier speed issues.
And preferably have the Nodo update as well, to be fair.

Yeah, you're wrong about the browser. I'm not sure what 'tests' you ran, but wp7's IE is like an F1 racing car. At least for me it is. Fastest thing I've ever seen on a device.
Also, wp7 is probably built to run on 3G, so using old tech like 2G/Edge is probly the reason. Unless that's complete bunk I dunno, I'm just guessing.

But I'll agree with you on the 3rd party apps. They're all slow and choppy for some reason. Even something as official as The Weather Channel. Not sure why.

I ran the test in the same carrier, using 2G. One side of another.
Then I tested the browser using the same wifi.
The speed is quite close. But you can see the difference (I'M NOT SAYING IE IS SLOW!).
I don't have NoDo yet, dying for it, btw. But if anyone with NoDo can try it out, it would be great.
Just try using the same app with diferent devices (such as Android or iPhone) in the same wifi network.
Even if the time to load is close, the app is laggy; cannot deny.

Yes, 2G is old tech. But the most part of the time I don't need 3G speed. But I need my battery to survive throughout the day.

I have motweets and all locations services running right now on my phone and this has been the case for a while. I get through a full day no prob without charging.
I have a HD7 with the smallest battery and the biggest screen.
Battery problems are non-existent on WP7 IMO if even I can make it through the day. And I stay on 3G

Well, that is a problem to me. I go work at 07 a.m. and I just go back home at 11:30 p.m.
Using 3G all the time, when I get home my battery is crying out. With 2G I got about 25% more battery than I would using 3G.
And I turned the push to my e-mail off.

I respectfully disagree that it's slower, but just glad to see you didn't mean it's slow in general. Cause for some reason I've seen that said a couple times and it's just untrue.

I'm using an LG Quantum. Granted they're rated high on the battery scale, but I too can leave home at 8:45, and get home at 7, and then casually use it in the evening, with rarely needing to charge.

Well, that may depend on sites and everything. But it's not a problem at all.
The laggy apps; this is a problem.
Even with 3G, it's clearly slow. Just on 3rd party apps, of course.
Maybe they are not coding it right?

Apples to oranges. Or more accurately, C++ to Silverlight on the desktop. 3rd party apps will always be at a disadvantage due to the .NET framework. The size of that disadvantage depends on how well MS optimizes the runtime environment on WP7. So far they haven't done a great job.

I did countless speed tests between my Samsung Focus and my fathers iPhone 4 before I returned my Focus. The Focus was much quicker at setting up calendar stuff and taking pictures, but I did find that the iPhone browser was a bit faster on most occasions. I'm interested in seeing how much faster it becomes with IE9 though.
Regarding battery life I found myself not making it through the day. I heard mixed reports about the Focus's battery life, but I didn't like it to much. I would play Bye Bye Brain for a little bit (15-25 minutes) and drop 15-20% in battery.

Erik, what do you think about 3rd party apps? Just want to know toughts about someone that is comparing iPhone 4 with WP7, like me.

i did some tests and 2g/edge is working quite well for me. I checked emails, opened news websites (like globo.com with lots of pictures) and tried with twitter app. No more than short seconds to load everything. Ill get an iphone4 tomorrow for testing and see the difference. My network provider is very unstable. Sometimes i make bandwidth tests on my wp7 and i get speeds as high as 800-1000kbps and sometimes only 150-250kbps.

You can't charge your phone at work for an hour???
I don't even try to use edge on usa t-mobile. It is painfully slow no matter the OS (android, wp7, winmo), usually about 50-60kbps. I have solved the 3g issue by using a mobile hotspot from time warner.

in your case seems like a network problem to me. Whats your phone mike?

Third party apps are much better on the iPhone, but thats also because the iPhone has had longer to mature. The Facebook app has much more support (Groups, chat, etc) and is very quick. I was always annoyed with the WP7 Facebook app (and other apps) because when you scrolled in the list it would have very strange scrolling (can't describe it, but you know what I mean). The iPhone Facebook app doesn't have this scrolling issue and since I can run it in the background it is just as quick/quicker than WP7 and the People hub. These same observations can be applied to almost any app shared between the two phones. WP7 feels really, really smooth in all the default applications, but for third party stuff it's just not the same.
Also, I never did any speed tests between the phones over 3G/Edge because I'm on a tiered plan and didn't feel like using it up for tests.

Trophy 7. Also, my carrier is Vivo (not TIM anymore). And my phone takes forever just to refresh Facebook app (if it don't show up a message saying to check my connection).

I just looked into the app I am programming currently (and I will present here as soon as I reached this 10-Post-Thread-Limit).
At first I thought everything runs smoothly but the longer I use my app the unsmoother it gets. I looked in the code but couldnt find anything that could cause this slowness (like expanding memory-need) and even added manual GarbageCollection that will delete unused space from memory but it didnt improve the slowness. Seems like theres a bug in the Silverlight/.Net-Framework.

But that sounds bad. I would prefer to hear that developers were coding it wrong. Hope Microsoft fix this soon. Seriously, I love the OS, but these little things are pissing me off.
