Tilt2: Empty notification, won't go away - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Stock Tilt2. Every now and then there will be a bubble notification on the top of the screen, and when I tap on it the Notifications screen that comes up shows (underneath Medianet and battery) simply an exclamation point inside a circle, with no accompanying text. Clicking on it does nothing, and Dismiss All doesn't remove it. I have to soft reset to get rid of it.
Any ideas? (Other than flashing a new ROM! I'm actually perfectly happy with the stock ROM.)

This problem is happening on two separate Tilt2s, both with stock AT&T ROM; any ideas? Screenshot attached.

Give this a try ..

You should find a use for them, let them breed and then corner the market and sell them.
WarlockW's post should help you out.

If that cab does not fix it, are you running ActiveSync with Exchange?
I had a similar issue with my old phone. It was a problem with my account on the exchange server. I had to have my profile recreated.

No I dont use exchange. I have read around here others having the issue as well though.

I've only experienced with issue with cooked roms. The stock Verizon 6.1 rom never displayed that issue. Unfortunately, I've yet to find the cause.

Thanks for the help with this. I actually am using Exchange. I was using 2007 and updated to 2010 since posting (which involved rebuilding my mailbox), and haven't had the problem since. So perhaps it was that, but I'll post again shortly with an update after I've had some time using it.

Dagordon,
I think its a defect on some of the phones they rolled out. I called HTC support, and they did not have a solution. Good thing for me is that the phone was less than 30 days old. The guy at the dealership took it back with no questions asked when I showed it to him.
I would think that your only option is what you mentioned above (flashing it with stock ROM).

Damn. The problem persists, even with a new Exchange setup. And the fixunreadcount program doesn't fix it -- it'll run successfully but the empty notification will remain.
So rfrancoi, you're saying that this problem only happens on some Touch Pro 2/Tilt2s, as in a different one might not have the problem?

[FIXED] Message Scolling automatically to the Bottom [Screens inc.]

hiya, i'm using Sleuths Developer Rom v3.0, and its all been going fine untill just now ... completely out of the blue!
its easier to explain with pictures. So read my storey thingy:

}
*Explains*
whenever i receive a message, or tap to view one, it automatically scrolls to the bottom of the message (Panel 4) and so i have to scroll up to see my message each time (Panel 5)
this happened completely randomly and it has happened to me before on one of JJ's roms.
i have searched, and done a Soft Reset, i've uninstalled the last application i installed (HTC Custom) to no avail!
i really do NOT want to hard reset as i have everything PERFECT on here now anyone got any ideas????
i must add that this happened randomly while receiving a message and it does it every single time!
would be greatly appreciated as hard reset is not my option ...
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
Ok Kasual has said that its the "D-pad fix" which can be disabled by downloading HTCustom (search it) and then go to "Pocket IE" tab and disable the Dpad fix, then soft reset and its fixed!
Yeah, I'm actually having the same problem. If anyone's got advice, I would appreciate it as well.
Great illustration
I also have that issue...
A hard reset fixed it for me. I have no idea why it happened, but a hard reset fdixed it. YMMV.
ah i foresee a hard rest then =/ argh didnt want to do that!! must be SOME explanation for it surely!!
thanks for the replies guys
I've had this problem with my 8525 since the day I upgraded to WM6, it has never gone away either.
D-pad navigation.
I am pretty sure this is caused by the "D-pad navigation" tweak. I also seem to remember that one of the newer roms is backwards (enabled is unchecked, disabled is checked). Try changing that tweak setting.
D-Pad Navigation
This is the behavior that comes with the D-Pad navigation tweak. You might want to make sure the tweak program is actually setting the registry to NOT have the tweak. I will look for the reference and post unless some one else beats me.
WOW many thanks Kasual!!! it is the D-Pad fix!
i'll edit my main post with a cure
many thanks
Although I never had this problem, I really appreciated your illustration of the problem (and the solution), which is really great!! Had a lot of fun studying
I wish many other users would be AT LEAST so kind to explain their problems with more than 7 words, such as "my dopod won't start anymore, suggestions??"

Verizon XV6800 MMS Amber Light Is Disabled..

I've moved my post over to this section of the forum (out of the General Section)in hopes of finding one of you really intelligent tech guys who can solve this problem. I do not want to be out of line in posting this on the wrong board and apologize if I have done so.....I'm just really looking for a resolution to this problem.
I have a new Verizon XV6800 with NOTHING installed on it that would cause this problem. Stock out of the box.
On the Verizon XV6800, if you have received(missed) a MMS, the Flashing Amber Light will not appear so you can be notified of missing the MMS.
To the best of my knowledge, all XV6800 owners are experiencing this same problem when missing a MMS??
Under Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications>Notifications>Event[Messaging: MMS Downloaded or New MMS], the phone will not allow you the option to check "Flash light for" to turn on this feature?? See the thumbnail
I have gone over this with Verizon and ETStarcomm several times and every XV6800 that they have tried does the exact same thing and they really don't care at all.
Again, the issue: On the Verizon XV6800, if a MMS is received/missed, unless you are right there at that very moment with your phone in hand and receive a ringtone(if you've set it up that way), then you will NEVER see a FLASHING AMBER LIGHT notifying that you've missed a message. Only the normal GREEN FLASHING LIGHT will be displayed and leads you to believe that you have not missed a MMS. This only happens with MMS. Any missed emails, text messages and/or phone calls will all cause the FLASHING AMBER LIGHT to come on.
Can anyone on this forum tell me if there is there a way to fix it??
Thanks for your help. Mark

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did see that post and it seems that it could possibly be the solution I've been looking for. I even sent nuchem a PM about that possiblity and he suggested that I install his program to give it a try. I would definitely do that, but his post has references to renaming certain files or registry entries. Yikes!!! I am such a newbie that the thought of even doing such a thing really scares me. Not even sure how I would go about editing the registry and if I did something wrong, well.....I've already got one disabled light so I sure don't need another one, or even worse, a non-functioning device. But, it does seem that his program is very straightforward and really slick. Just remarks about changing the registry and/or file names is causing me to hesitate 'cause I sure wish I knew more about this sort of thing.
I am though, growing extremely sick and tired of hearing Verizon tell me that there is nothing they can do about it. I'm all but positive that someone on this forum has the expertise to resolve what Verizon says they can't. Just need to find that person (I'm really hoping!!).
Thanks again for your response. Regards, Mark

Since when was Google Wallet not supported on rooted devices?

Welcome to the forums! Have a look around, try out the search button.
As WiredPirate mentioned, this has been discussed a few times.
The good news is that it's more of a "not officially condoned" as opposed to a "not going to work" type of support. Continue to use Wallet to your heart's content, just understand that there are certain risks on a rooted device - and Google won't be responsible if you run into problems.
Yea I can confirm that it still works. I only saw that message once... then never again. It just means that if you run a Rooted rom, you won't get support if something goes wrong or your money becomes missing.

This is not true. I spoke with Google CS about this and the man I spoke with assured me that the message meant if the app doesnt function in the way it should, ie. not transfering data via NFC or pressing a button doesnt work, that Google is not responsible to help you troubleshoot it. Not that you cannot cancel your card or retrieve your funds if you loose your phone. The phrase he used repetitively was "Your money is still your money", if for some reason your cash 'disappears' just call and they will straighten it out. But if the app is not transmitting or if it is spazzing out, do not expect them to help you troubleshoot it and get it working properly again, which I imagine they would initially try to do anyways or atleast give you suggestions on things to try but would eventually say "we are not responsible" if you are taking up too much of their time.
I hadn't planned on replying to this question since it has been covered several times but I had to clear up the misinformation.
Today was just the first time I ever noticed this warning in the app like that. I've been rooted forever, but I thought it might have been due to a recent update (and no topics showed up in the little "topic title search" thing).
Been like this for weeks. Its effectively a "user beware" notice.

Mangled text on home screens?

Hello, I've got a weird error that I don't even know how to begin tracking down. Not sure if this is an ICS issue, an app issue, or a device (hardware) issue.
Several times now, I get a problem were, after a reboot, all the text on my home screen - names for apps and text within widgets is mangled somehow. Like pixels inverted, or boxed over, etc. (see screenshot)

The first couple of times this happened, a single reboot made it go away. However with my latest occurrence, I've rebooted several times without a fix.
EDIT: It seems like my data connection may also require examination? Since on the 3rd or 4th reboot I was in my office with a solid WiFi connection (versus previous reboots I was in my car en-route), the problem has now gone away again.
My initial reboot this morning was as a quick-fix attempt at an absent data connection. Guess I'm off to research these "radios" everyone keeps on about...
EDIT 2: Ok, perhaps ignore the above. After a reboot made this go away, it has now come back spontaneously (i.e. just noticed it sitting in the cradle with the error again - no reboot this time.) CRUUUUD.
Are you using a custom Kernel? Some 'Overclock' the GPU to 512MHz, while Stock is 384MHz. Some devices can't handle the increase and cause screen artifacts. Post your Kernel details and I'm sure someone will point you in the direction of another Kernel if this is the case.
Not that I know of - should be all stock, since I haven't rooted or unlocked anything yet (just got the phone a couple of weeks ago).
Thanks for the help.
Stock launcher? Or using nova/apex etc?

Hi,
Another thread...:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646985
Nothing related to GPU overclock...just about this possibility...
Looking in different threads in Q&A/General.
If you are using the stock launcher...I think I saw a topic with this weird issue with the stock launcher...but I can not find it anymore
In any case clear data/cache of your current launcher, reboot and see...If you're on another launcher than stock,reinstall...
I speak only for the launcher issue.
Yep, stock launcher. Thanks for the other thread.
Seems to be at bay now. Will keep an eye on it.

Partial "crashed" screen for a split second - soft- or hardware issue?

I've been using my One X for several weeks now (I think the hboot date is around early June so it's not one of the early batches) and so far didn't have any problem except for the following:
Twice, first a few weeks ago and the second time last night I saw some "artifacts". I'm not quite sure but I think different parts of the screen were affected each time. What happens is that everything is shown how it's supposed to be except for a 30%-40% area which looks a little like a computer screen right after a software/driver crash can look like. Without doing anything, it disappeared each time after less than a second.
I wasn't able to take a screenshot but the following photo shows how it roughly looked like. In my case, there were only lines and cubes in black, white and bright green instead of the more "fuzzy" parts shown in the photo.

Is this a driver issue? A lose connection? A display fault? I was close to unlocking my phone but with this having happened twice so far I wonder whether I should wait a little longer...
PS: It's probably unrelated, but like a minute later I encountered some "keypad ghosting" via swiftkey, i.e. I was pressing some keys on the keyboard and it was inserting several different ones each time. I do suppose that it's a software glitch, though, as I tried the stock keyboard another minute later and this worked fine.
If you can still swap your device with your retailer I would do that, just to be on the save side...
did u update to latest already?
if yes,
was it there before u updated..??
it doesn't look like a hardware issue
Did it act like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIY0_Hy2_mA ?

No, everything was where it was supposed to be and the artifacts faded away after probably less than a second.
I still have the latest stock Rom, haven't updated yet. I do think it's been more of a software glitch but I couldn't find information on here or anywhere else which would state a similar problem. Which is good?
