Hi,
I've been trying to revamp my old hx4700, and have been seriously considering getting an iphone, but love the multi tasking/memory card and 'customizabilty' of the htc hero.
I recently upgraded my old hx4700 rom with one from this site, and put 'point ui - home 2' on it - a carbon copy of the HTC hero sense ui interface! Awsome! (no this is not an advert for the website!).
It runs quite well as does a copy of mobile shell 3 from SPB, but it's a bit stuttery still, and was wondering if there is any remote chance that the HTC hero ROMs on this site could be flashed onto an hx 4700 (made by HTC). I'm guessing it's a no, and if so could somebody create a rom that worked for hx4700 with HTC hero UI built in to speed it all up? Afterall the device has an excellent 624Mhz processor just going to waste inside + wifi/bluetooth etc..?
thanks one and all..

Hi guys,
I am in two minds as to what my next purchase should be. I like the new HTC Polaris and it is what I know, as I currentlt have an Artemis. However the screen resolution is low, not VGA 640x480 which I would like in my next PDA.
I have noticed a few devices which are made by E-Ten that seeem to do all that the artemis does - but they do have a vga screen such as the x800 and x500 models.
Has anyone tried one of the models and would they recommend them? Also do they have a lively developer/modding scene like the Artemis?
Thanks - underzone
eten is very good pda phone, more fast than HTC, but their production will discontinue.
The ETEN looks like a good phone but there's more support for HTC phones. And now that I have a touchflo ROM, I don't know how I could go back to not having touchflo.
I have used 3 mode Eten PDA.And for me HTC better because can mod Rom for your PDA
Polaris for me look very cool, use chip QualComm 7200 (fast) Touch Flo 2.....and...
===> Polaris +1
I had the same dilema, I have an artemis wich I love, but I have it for a year already and HTC is not putting out anythig much better for me to upgrade (and it does not look like they are planning on launching any good vga device soon) so I ordered the Eten X800, it is supposed to get here tomorrow, I'll compare them and will let you know what I think.
P.S. The only thing that stops me from leaving HTC is this site, there is no such a thing for any other brand out there. And I'm hooked.

Yeah its this forum & the excellent brewed roms that really makes me want to stick with an HTC... but then again I do really want a VGA screen. decisions, decisions...
How about the new P5500 - slimmed down artemis with touch interface, keyapd, gps, HSDPA etc...
http://www.unwiredview.com/2007/08/08/htc-5500-nike-touch-slider/
Thinking about Asus, doubts are the processor and the screen size but like the size slightly smaller than the orbit, but little in it, I do miss a keypad.

I got the x800 today, and it is a good pda but I don't think you can compare it to the artemis, the screen is nicer and having 3g it's a whole different browsing expierence, but apart from that it is a bit slow and the design is not as nearly as nice. It's not a bad pda, if it was my only pda I would gladly keep it, but choosing between this and the artemis, I would for sure keep my artemis until I'll find something else. (Maybe I'll try the gigabyte Gsmart i350, if I can get hold of it in america)
Previously got an Eten G500, nothing to do with X500 neither X800.
But i really, really prefer the artemis !
G500 was big, heavy, rom was unstable, and materials used was bad quality and many plastics cracks, painting surface goes away,...
Now i'm really happy to have sold it...

For me it has to be either Polaris or iMate 9502 - 9502 has VGA, same memory as Polaris (eten is short) and still has all the hardware buttons dropped on the Polaris...
Hey everyone,
just saw the new LG KM 900 Arena with its new so called "S-Class 3D UI". It is some sort of mixture between the iPhone, the Omnia and the Experia X1.
In my opinion it looks pretty nice and it would be great to have it on our HD. I don't know the type of the processor but it has a (small ) 3inch WVGA screen.

Hope we can find some guys who can port this "S-Class" to our HD

Does it even run om WM?
No.
As far as i know it's a special samsung LG OS
greetz
will be released for WM
http://www.i4u.com/article23261.html
In the article they say, that the LG GM 730 (which is pretty much the same as the KM 900 Arena just on the basis of Windows Mobile 6.5) will be available in the first half of 2009!
I thought WM 6.5 is expected to be launched in autumn 2009

Very impressed with this new UI...
Wow I really love the Interface.....
Nice looking UI. I've just tried the new SPB MS3 and Winterface on my Touch HD but didn't like either enough to buy them. MS3 is very smooth and colourful and easy to use and set up, plus I didn't suffer from the battery drain problem a few people had reported. Winterface has potential but is still 'buggy' and a bit 'bland'. I've gone back to TF3 for the time being.

+1 for this thread
will be released soon.
anybody know how to remove LG application expecially the LG messaging / sms ?
Hey buddy
this phone sucks. don' ever look for it
Y - just had one of those phones in my hand (last week - not the new WVGA,... variant but they already have the UI on other phones) - better stay with Manilla & Co.
(btw WVGA just means better resolution but as to WM Phones is also means its much slower - as seen on HD)
At the first look it seems to be neat but it hangs like Manilla in the first days....
OK - it has a cube - but its not very important (beside eye-candy) and takes a little bit to long to show up and does not actually show the screen you are going to - just a general preview how the screen could look.
The Program start UI is nothing special cause u got it already in many HTC devices (WM6.5 startmenu or Iphonetoday,...)
In my opinion just wait for the "real" new thing - with 3D UI and a good workflow (just tech-demos out now - but will prob come mid next year) - or go for HD2!
Great specs in my opinion!

have anyone got s-class ui ? for htc
Im thinking of making the move back to htc having had an xda mini ii a cuople of years ago before moving to my 1st gen iphone.
the htc leo looks great, nice big screen, good camera, flash n storage but im not too enamoured by having to move back to winmo which sucks.
is it easy to swap the os from winmo to android as i really like the way things are shaping up on the android scene and the nice snapdragon cpu in the leo should work wonders for performance.
another android question i have is is it easy to put the variations of os's on there as the default android build is a but basic?
i dont know why you'd want to do that.. WinMo is good.. with TouchFlo (Sense) it completely rocks.. HTC has just ramped up android with its custom interface.. in reality android is not such a good OS.. but at the end it me who feels that way.
would love to flash winmo 7 on the Leo.. anyway there is an upgrade on 6.5 planned in March 2010
cheers!
If you want Android on awesome hardware, get a Motorola Droid/Sholes. It kicks the pants off the HD2s hardware anyways....
1. A working GPU fully accessible to programs and OS
2. QWERTY keyboard in a phone much the same size AND thickness as the iPhone!
Back to your question though, Android on Leo sounds great if you either have a lot of patience or don't mind using severely limited alpha software on your phone day to day. IMO, it would be a waste to get a phone such as the Leo, and then to procede to make it incredibly bug ridden by installing a non-approved OS w/o any proper driver or oem support.
HTC will anyway launch the Dragon soon.. same specs as Leo.. runs on Android

With 550mhz processor and 256mb RAM Moto Droid kicks out HD2? only cuz it has a qwerty keyboard? lets get real here.. only the HTC Dragon (Leo specs with Android) has it to kick Leo.. or a phone with nvidia' 1gghz processor.. neither are launched.. so.. no points for guessing

I am being real, the working graphics chip in the Droid does count for a lot, and takes much of the processing off of the processor. Take a look at the iPhone 3GS, or Palm Pre... or even look at a PC with a decent processor and graphics card, vs. a PC with just a higher spec processor.
But I guess we won't really know until someone benchmarks Droid and Dragon...
I have a GSM Touch Pro 2 with a custom ROM and experience some heavy performance problems in Windows (that I hadn't until WM 6.5 +).
So I tried out xdandroid, which is great but somehow the market stopped working and I can't receive any incoming calls anymore (phone does not ring for me but only for the person calling).
Lately I installed HyperDroid V1.7 on my uncles Touch HD2 and it looks very nice and has 2D and 3D support as it seems, further it was VERY fluent and looked really great (especially the fonts, but though he has the newest ROM and RADIO, he can't do any calls because his and the calling persons voice is heavily distorted).
As I liked HyperDroid I wondered if I could install it on my Touch Pro 2
If they have a system.ext2 file you can grab, then maybe... but you do realize the HD2 is MUCH farther along than our sad TP2's. Unfortunately for us, the TP2 was neglected in the hardware category. Your uncle's HD2 has a much faster processor - this means more devs flock to the device, and the development of it went quickly aslo because I think a lot of native Android phones have the same or similar hardware.
With that said, you can't compare the two devices, especially when it comes to the Android experience - the HD2 is bascially done, they just need to sort out the best way to flash it.
hey guys,
came across this tour of the HD2 software:

It looks soooo nice! i know winmobile is **** and nothing compared to android, but htc has done a really nice job on skinning it and the speed it just phenomenal!
was wondering if it was possible to get this rom on our phones, or is that just completely impossible?
It was also really smooth on my Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2, running WinMo 6.5.5 was as nice and smooth as Android on my DZ..
Its more than just a theme though. It was a complete OS GUI integration replacing many of the corporate boring Windows Mobile functions with pretty Sense ones. Pitty it didn't catch on, It was actually a decent effort.
I have the Desire Z with sense and TBH, it was good enough that my DZ home screens are not far off what I had on WinMo.
