Hey everyone,
just saw the new LG KM 900 Arena with its new so called "S-Class 3D UI". It is some sort of mixture between the iPhone, the Omnia and the Experia X1.
In my opinion it looks pretty nice and it would be great to have it on our HD. I don't know the type of the processor but it has a (small ) 3inch WVGA screen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okP8ce2svXg
Hope we can find some guys who can port this "S-Class" to our HD

Does it even run om WM?
No.
As far as i know it's a special samsung LG OS
greetz
will be released for WM
http://www.i4u.com/article23261.html
In the article they say, that the LG GM 730 (which is pretty much the same as the KM 900 Arena just on the basis of Windows Mobile 6.5) will be available in the first half of 2009!
I thought WM 6.5 is expected to be launched in autumn 2009

Very impressed with this new UI...
Wow I really love the Interface.....
Nice looking UI. I've just tried the new SPB MS3 and Winterface on my Touch HD but didn't like either enough to buy them. MS3 is very smooth and colourful and easy to use and set up, plus I didn't suffer from the battery drain problem a few people had reported. Winterface has potential but is still 'buggy' and a bit 'bland'. I've gone back to TF3 for the time being.

+1 for this thread
will be released soon.
anybody know how to remove LG application expecially the LG messaging / sms ?
Hey buddy
this phone sucks. don' ever look for it
Y - just had one of those phones in my hand (last week - not the new WVGA,... variant but they already have the UI on other phones) - better stay with Manilla & Co.
(btw WVGA just means better resolution but as to WM Phones is also means its much slower - as seen on HD)
At the first look it seems to be neat but it hangs like Manilla in the first days....
OK - it has a cube - but its not very important (beside eye-candy) and takes a little bit to long to show up and does not actually show the screen you are going to - just a general preview how the screen could look.
The Program start UI is nothing special cause u got it already in many HTC devices (WM6.5 startmenu or Iphonetoday,...)
In my opinion just wait for the "real" new thing - with 3D UI and a good workflow (just tech-demos out now - but will prob come mid next year) - or go for HD2!
Great specs in my opinion!

have anyone got s-class ui ? for htc

He friends - when the first Touch came out I bought it and was so unsatisfied ref. the keyboard that I changed the device - also because the perforamce was pretty slow
Let me ask you - is the No. 2 now faster and much better ???
Hi,
The touch-pro 2 has some hardware improvements, but none concerning it's speed. The software that's delivered by HTC is further optimized and is a lot faster. Also the version of the processor that's included has changed in the TD2 & TP2. This probably means that the processor has been more optimized too.
I expect the TP2 to be faster in use, because of the new well working software (Shell). Next to that, it will be easier to work with because of the bigger screen.
About the keyboard, looking at some video's about pre-releases of the phone, every reviewer says the keyboard is one of the best ever. I haven't seen any lag when people were typing.
I think normal all-day use (agenda, mail, phone, sms, etc) will be faster and more accessible. But gaming, or other 3th party software that requires a lot of horsepower,....... Just don't expect the TP2 to be a lot better/faster. But then again, htc targets the bussines world.
I suggest you look into other topics and look for reviews (youtube: touch-pro2 review), so you can see for yourself.
I'm upgrading from my Hermes . The reason why I won't wait for other 1 gigz phones? Playing 3d games, just won't work on phones cause of the louzy controls and little screen. Other than that, I can't think of reasons why I would want a 1 Gighz phone. Battery will be empty faster and it will take a year before the new processors will be fully optimized. (not to think of the heat the new processors will make)

Specifically, the drivers are believed to have been improved to address some graphics hangups. It's hard to know what any particular user means when they complain about performance.
If, peter, you're referring to the TF3D interface, you'll probably be pleased. There are a ton of video previews out there on youtube now, so head on over and watch it in action. Those videos are the next best thing to actually using one.
So what could your advice be - to wait for the new toshiba with th ebig display, take the diamond 2 or the touch 2 ???
THANKS a lot

Depends, what kind of user you are.
What kind of phone do you have now? Is it with an hardware keyboard and do you message a lot?
What do you do with you current phone? What do you like, what do you miss?
Do you put you phone in you pocket?
I'm also getting the touch pro2 because there aren't going to be many other phones with an hardware keyboard in the near future. As for only touchscreen phones, I would wait. There are comming a lot new phones in the near future.
If you have a fairly recent phone (touch pro 1 for example) I also would wait for a new phone. That's because new phones keep comming and I don't have the money to keep buying new phones.
(as for the slow touch pro 1, try some home cooked roms from this site. There are probably some real fast ones in the tp1 forum).
Does touch pro2 have an hardware keyboard ???
Actually I`m using again my Xperia...

I'm happy to help and inform you, but at least google the phone before asking a question.
Go to HTC.com and go to the HTC touch pro2 page. You'll see all hardware specs.
It costs me and you less time
You mean this one

No I meant this one :
http://www.htc.com/uk/product/touchpro2/overview.html
But just saw, this info isn't available in the US. So sorry (the webpage I've given is the UK version)
it will be on the market in june. the release dates differ per country. In western europe it will be Junu 5 or 12.
In amerika it also can be July, but I expect end June
Hello Xda fellows
Does anyone else have a strange feeling that our beloved blackstone is slowly but for sure falling into oblivion?
sigh
yes, of course it is. it is three genrations old now (touch pro 2 and diamond 2 are next generation and htc leo is the newest).
However, this doesnt mean its going to be forgotten. the android project is really gaining ground. the "improving gfx performance" guys have just released a killer graphics pack and all of the apps made in future for the td2 and tpro 2 (maybe even leo) will work fine.
so, to answer your question, it is getting a bit old (a year old now) but that doesnt mean its going to disappear. look at the polaris and kaiser
good to hear opinion like that thanks man
the good thing about our phones is that it is still "current" in that the _relatively_ "newly released" TD2 and TP2 have very similar specs to our phone...it's just not at the very top anymore
Falling into obvlivion might be correct, but that doesn't mean the device is bad. If you like a device, you like it nomatter how many new devices are out.
I Dont think its falling into oblivion, look at the specs...
More ram than most, better screen than most, wvga is becoming more and more recognised, you dont get a 3.5mm headphone socket on most other devices, 5mp camera, most others are 3 or below, and really as long as xda developers lives on all devices do too
As far as I can see, it's still the top of the tree until the Leo is released.

HTC are not making a phone called Leo.
Yes. I am a pedant
A month ago I sold my HTC Diamond for a Touch HD...
I had the option to go for a Touch Pro, Diamond 2 etc...
but after trying a few the screen on the Touch HD is far superior to any others tried even the Iphone doesn't look as perfect as the HD.
It runs as fast as both the Touch Pro and Diamond 2.
The only difference in my opinion is the TV out on the Touch Pro.
Its inevitable that as time goes on the HD will eventually become obsolute or redundant as you'll move to pastures green. However with the HD, I feel this is still a bit in the future. There is nothing out there to really make me consider getting my wallet out and purchasing it. As time goes on this will obviously change, but not just yet!!

Now I would have absolutely agreed with you until this last week or so. The HD2 just looks too good to miss.
It'll certainly quieten the missus and her damned iPhone a bit.
Meh, I still got me HTC Universal running, the bigger the HTC the longer they last!
Blackstone is NOT going to fade out so soon.
Crap, I just switched from Polaris to Blackstone... )
And there has to be something much much better than HD2 to make me cry why have I bought HD...
I guess you are right!
about HD2, is just got one ~10 Days ago and i have to tell you, its not that different from the HD.
its just a little bit better in every way, but always just a little
(little faster, manila little smoother, gps little faster, screen a little bigger....)
but so far everything form the hd2 works just fine on hd (exept a free 3D game, forgot the name)
The only phone i would upgrade to is the HD2..
I love this phone! It may be buggy, badly designed vanilla rom and feel like plastic in your hands after a while, but you can do anything with it! It's powerful, got a _sweet_ display and it's the best phone I've tried surfing the web with.. With Opera Mobile 10 that is.
There's no phone out there worth upgrading to yet, this phone has still got atleast 6-12 months left in my hands..
INMHO I do not think that this phone, the HTC HD, will obsoleted soon. The most I read in others forums the most I think that still the HTC HD is on the TOP. The capacitive screen seems better than the one of LEO or HTC HD2, at least for use most application or write an sms. In addition, I have seen this evening in the developers and hacking forum that a multi-touch driver has been released for our HTC HD, so we can have the best of both worlds. Even, the Android runs quite smooth in the HTC HD so you can switch between windows and Android in less than 2 minutes. I am not thinking in change my phone in this moment, I quite satisfied, but If I had not one, I will take the advantage of the new release of the LEO to get a very cheap HTC HD in the second hand market.
If HTC had sorted out the Qualcomm driver situation I'd be all over the HD2, but I'm thinking I'll skip this generation, just not enough of an upgrade for me at the moment...
HD is a great phone

Well, I have mine for about 3 months now.. ans I could have got many other phones.. but I agree with the superlatives you mentioned. skinny too, where most phones are a quarter brick in the pants.. I had to help a colleague with his Kaiser on a WM6.1 and use a stylus , only to realize and appriciate the touch HD.. Is it, eventually, become obsolete? yes, but at least not until 2011.. if I won't break it by then (flashing, or screen cracking it) I will keep it for a longer time. It simply suits my need. I am sure there will be other phoned, but until there is touch HD2 around, working in 3G US, I will keep it, flash it, test it and hope there will be enough chefs on this thread
Thank you folks for the sleepless nights you give me.. my wife is sure I have an affair, or I am into cyber sex.. until it does not stop- I will stay with the HD..

Hi BigE! Long time no speak!
Good to find you in here!! I need your help...
AS you probably remember, I am a Trinity user. With MSkip's ProPlus Ultimate 3.5 QVGA 110209 installed, I am basically at peace. It's perfect for my needs.
BUT...
Recently, I've been tempted to buy a Touch HD, disable the TouchFlo and install MSkip's ProPlus Ultimate 3.5. Is it worth it?
The bigger screen, the more powerful processor, etc, etc... Will I really notice the difference if I just use Spb MS3.5?
I know you're not a massive fan of Spb MS3.5... I use it purely as I need an appointment list on my Today Page. That's why I don't use Manila. That's why as far as I can see I would not be happy with the TouchFlo 3D on the Touch HD. Such a shame it's missing!
I look forward to your advice. Maybe you'll convince me to leave Trinity!?
Mattster.
Greetings,
As the title says,
Some of the main Advantages of OmniaPro are 800Mhz CPU, AMOLED display, 5MB Camera (With Flash), 3.5mm audio jack
Some Disadvantages are it has 3.5" Screen (Rhodium has 3.6"), 4 rows QWERTY Keyboard (Rhodium has 5 rows).
TouchWiz (OmniaPro) or TouchFlo/Sense (Rhodium), .. not sure which is better
Price (in UK pounds):
OmniaPro: £291.49 exc VAT
Rhodium: £379.48 exc VAT (Why is it more expensive while specs are clearly less?)
in terms of Hardware specs, .. i dont think someone could argue that Rhodium is better than OmniaPro.
I want your opinions on:
- Which one is better? and why?
- Why do you think that OmniaPro is a lot cheaper than Rhodium although it obviously packs better specs?
touchwiz = blah(imo)...
htc=greatest smartphone company(imo)...
Processor speed isn't all of it, flash on a camera is useless, tp2 has 3.5mm audiojack on some models... Only true advantage of the omniapro is the amoled screen.
tp2 can also utilize the new 7.2mbps networking which omniapro cant.
Again...
Entering to a Nike store and asking what is better Nike or Rebook
Rhodium is superior in many apspects, also you have the plus of the support from XDA!
I´ll stay with HTC
And don´t forget to vote!

If the keyboard really is important, get the Rhodium. It is not only the 5 rows, it is the keyshape and spacing. For multimedia the Omnia pro should be better. I also saw some reports that the screen of the Omnia Pro is extremely soft and even a fingernail can scratch it. So you would need some really good protection. Sense is a much better interface, but I am sure it could be ported.

Hmm thanks for the input, yeah the layout of the keys in Rhodium seems a lot more type-friendly. and from videos, .. Oddly, the screen of Rhodium does seem crispier than the AMOLED of OmniaPro
and what do you guys think about the price difference? price/specs ratio of OmniaPro seems interesting compared to the Rhodium.
and why isnt there a section for Samsung windows mobiles here in the forums? i mean XDA is not for HTC only right? Sony Ericsson is there, why not Samsung?
lots of questions
i'll answer the Sony Ericsson for u Irkan, i use to have one right before the bloody keyboard gave up on me
The Xperia was a collaboration between Htc and SE. Basically Htc made the device. Hell, it even have the Htc quickgps and task manager on it. Even the hardSPL is the same as HTC. We could safely say that the Xperia X1 is still a "brother" to all the htc device.
As for the site, yes XDA only supported htc devices, even X2 isn't gonna be here. Thats why i chose the rhodium
I am less Impressed ...
Ok, .. i see .. thanx for the input, that makes sense now
I have read 2 major reviews about the OmniaPro, .. although the hardware specs are hardcore, .. the TouchWiz (Widgets UI) seems to be sluggish regardless of the hardware sepcs.
in terms of the UI performance the Sense seems to be way better than the Widgets UI. If 800Mhz Processor is not enough for there UI than what is the use of it? .. i was expecting that with the processor power i would enjoy the TouchWiz UI smoothly and that the menus will be flying around, ... unfortunately from reading the 2 major reviews, .. that is not the case
The reviews also reported that the keyboard does not register the key press smoothly when typing fast, and you have to be careful and firm when typing .. kindda ruins the purpose of having full QWERTY keyboard.
The camera is said to be mediocre, .. the colours are a little dull, but sharp.
Lets just say that i am less impressed by the OmniaPro than when i started this thread ..
to me the main advantage of the rhodium is that the screen TILTS!!!

You can probably turn the TouchWiz UI off if it is really that sluggish. You might even be able to get Sense on it. Keep that in mind.

I can turn it off, .. and will be stuck to WM screen ... that kindda ruins the purpose of buying it in the first place.
I like TouchWiz (the idea of it) but lots of reports shows that many times it tends to lag alot, i even saw some videos on how bad it was (and it was bad)
I have seen TouchFlo 1.6 (or some previous version) being ported to the OmniaPro, reports shows that it drains lots of battery power, and the experience is not smooth at all, and when i went to check the forum that made that port, they stopped supporting Sense porting to OmniaPro B7610 (the one that has the keyboard which is similar to Rhodium) and only continued with the full touch screens (they are trying to port everything in HD2 to Omnia2 or something, so they couldnt care less about OmniaPro with the keyboard)
I asked the same question in some forum that reviewed the the OmniaPro B7610
and here is a reply for my inquiry from one of the users that have the OmniaPro
I would go for the HTC touch pro2. I bought the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and it’s the worst windows mobile phone I’ve ever had, slower than my old HTC P3300 and my imate Ultimate 9502. TouchWiz is very slow! You have to switch it off. The screen is very fragile, it’s easily scratched by the stylus. The in call sound is not that loud, the keyboard is ok but not excellent, etc.

Here's my story: I am currently the proud owner of the HTC HD2 and love it, I flash custom roms on a weekly basis and just love the fact that windows mobile is endlessly customisable . I recently got playing with a friends htc magic and just fell in love with the android OS, how smooth and fast it was and the android market.
After this I am really thinking of switching to the Desire. My question is that is android customisable like windows mobile? I'm not talking about homescreen widgets. What I mean is that with windows mobile you have a Registry which you can edit. With android do you have this ability and can you install custom themes and change the task bars? Things like that.
I am new to android so please be nice
Any input would be much appreciated
I used to do the same on my Touch HD and HD2 before i sold them with the Max Manilla program, co0kiemonster's apps, and the Theme Creator mod. I would suggest you look around the Desire Themes and Apps section of the forum to see what is available. AFAIK, there are not many mods available for the Desire (yet), but there are a few (for example, see this link):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=673856
You can download apps like Helixlauncher/Helixlauncher2/Launcher2/FreedHome which allow you to customise the home screens.
Also, any modifications you want to make that requires system access will ofcourse require you to root the Desire.
Hope that helps you out a little.

Thanks mastoid, that really has helped. I have been looking around in the forums a bit more, especially the N1 forums and I have found the ability to highly customise.
I would love to move to android soon, but do you think I should upgrade to desire or wait for a android version of the HD2. I mean the desire look amazing but i love having a screen this big and would probably miss it.
I have had winmo devices since the beginning and my job involves me securing all the major mobile devices.
my personal device was an hd2 and I have swapped to the Desire
Screensize should not be an issue as they are very similar. You will be.so impressed by the resolution.
Not having a stylus has been an issue for me ad no keyboard has been quite big enough for my fingers.
Customization skills will take some time but iv you program should be reasonable.
security is still an issue mind...
All the best Sam

It really is your choice matey, I had the HD2, but personally, it was a little too big for my liking and I am happy with the screen size (3.7 inches) and resolution (480 X 800 WVGA) of the Desire. It has the fresher OS (Android 2.1) which runs faster than WinMo 6.5. As the devices have similar hardware specs, the Desire can do everything the HD2 can do and more whilst doing it all faster.
It's a tough call, only you alone can decide
You can either wait for Android OS to be ported to the HD2 (even I don't know when that will be possible) or jump ship and go for the Desire.
In retrospect, I much prefer the Desire over the HD2, i'm impressed with the Android OS, much prefer it to WinMo 6.5. Its also important to consider that since WinMo 7 has been announced, support for 6.5 is waning with some developers already cancelling/stopping development of apps.
The desire seems like a much more sensible choice!
hey guys,
came across this tour of the HD2 software:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5o6tj7yFBQ&feature=relmfu
It looks soooo nice! i know winmobile is **** and nothing compared to android, but htc has done a really nice job on skinning it and the speed it just phenomenal!
was wondering if it was possible to get this rom on our phones, or is that just completely impossible?
It was also really smooth on my Touch Diamond 2 and Touch Pro 2, running WinMo 6.5.5 was as nice and smooth as Android on my DZ..
Its more than just a theme though. It was a complete OS GUI integration replacing many of the corporate boring Windows Mobile functions with pretty Sense ones. Pitty it didn't catch on, It was actually a decent effort.
I have the Desire Z with sense and TBH, it was good enough that my DZ home screens are not far off what I had on WinMo.
