So whenever I make or receive a call, after I take the phone away from my ear, the notifications window is open. It's become quite annoying to have to click the OK at the bottom of the window for EVERY incoming or outgoing call once it is done. I assume my ear is touching the screen so that it pops up. Any way to disable this?
Thanks.
check if your proximity sensor is working. To do this, try the following:
call FI yout voicemailnumber, wait until it is connected and put the phoneon its back. Then move a finger towards the microphone on top of the phone. When your sensor is working, your screen should turn black. Removing your finger gives you back the calling screen.
So apparently my prox sensor isn't working, as when i completely cover the top or bottom of the face of the phone while i'm in a call, the screen doesn't change at all. Any idea if I can do something to fix this without a hard reset? Would be irritating to have to reinstall all my stuff just to get this to work.
do not have a clue how to fix that, but a hard reset will be the only way to prove if your prox sensor is defect or not. Why not make a backup of all your data with Sprite Backup and then hard reset. Sprite is doing a great job in backing up and restoring your valuable data

Is the proximity sensor ok?
Sent from my Anzu
how can i check this?
Is it covered up at all? Some cases can cover it, so the screen is always off in a call.
It's the little dark, shiny, oval shape to the left of the earpiece.
Note 2 Verizon Rooted. Two weeks ago my phone started this. When ever I make a phone call, the screen cuts off. The problem is it wont come back on until the call has ended. Now if i reach someone this isnt a huge issue, but if I have to deal with an automated system, or get someones voice mail i Have to do a battery pull. Does anyone know what is going on? Please help.
Try to clear data of phone app.

Same Problem
I had the same problem, I found it was the cover I had on my phone that prevented the phone to go back on during a call.
This is a problem related to the proximity sensor. It's something very hard to clean so I just disabled turn off screen during calls option. Just go to your dialer press menu button then click call settings you should see turn of screen calls option, disable it.
Your cheek probably touch to screen and press random buttons when you're on the phone so remember to turn off your screen by on off button so you dont touch buttons with your cheek.
Hope that solves your problem
edit: I found that sometimes blowing through the speaker makes proximity sensor work correctly for a while. It's not a practical solution though.

Thanks for the information everyone! I busted the screen a few months ago and assume that's whats causing it. I just didn't think that was it because it hadn't been a problem until well after I busted it. Ill disable this option and that will take care of it for my needs.
Sorry for my English, so I used the google translator.
My question is this:
I have a large, even big problem. Most of the time, both as a nock on nockcode not work and can hardly unlock the screen, just only after many attempts.
When I am in a call and when I want to finish I can not because the screen remains blocked and not with the power button can finish (the power button is clear-cut to terminate calls) and if it is not the other person to hang up the call to continue listen to the conversation and only removing the battery do I get out of this quite annoying situation. I'm getting sick of this smartphone because the operation does not accompany his features.
Already changed to costumizadas roms and continues all the same and not even with wipes or factory resets it there will.
Does anyone have or have had this problem and managed to solve.
Thank help.

Is anything blocking your proximity sensor?
Knock on: If your hand or anything blocks the proximity sensor the screen will not turn on.
In Call: Place phone to ear, block sensor and screen off - unblock sensor screen should turn back on.
Make sure nothing is blocking it like a screen protector or a case.
I had the same issue with my G2 because of a screen protector that was blocking the Prox sensor.
also a protective case could be blocking the sensor.
I do not use any protective screen and the proximity sensor is working well.
When I make or receive calls the screen turns black and the touchscreen is disabled. I assume this is to avoid accidental keypresses with my ear or something, but my phone doesn't leave this mode until call ends.. I assume it would switch on screen/touch when leveled horizontally, but it doesn't.
I cannot end the call or do anything while the screen is disabled.
The only thing that works sometimes is to double press power button to turn on camera (thus enabling screen/touch), but it is no reliable method.
Sometimes, if I call a person not taking the call, without mailbox or automatic termination of connection, I have to reboot to phone to end this.
Any idea what I can do? Can this supposedly helpful behavior be switched off or fixed?
I am on Android stock 8.1.0 (OPM6.171019.030.H1, Aug 2018), rooted with most recent Magisk.
This bug is driving me nuts, so Thank You for any ideas or help!
Is there anything blocking the proximity sensor (below the right of the speaker)?

Not that I know of. All is as normal as can be.
But right now, it seems the "trick" with the camera double click works more reliably (>50%) than before. Whatever reason..
If you've had the phone apart recently ... check proximity sensor. There's a little rubber piece tends to fall out.
Did You applied a screen protector recently? I had the same issue because of screen protector was covering the proximity sensor
My phone is strange. Screen goes off when starting a call.
Also I have to disable the "pocket sensor" as otherwise I get a message that screen is covered.
I think the "close to head" sensor is dead. But I would expect that screen doesn not go off - but here it is the oppsite. Can I do something to avoid that behaviour?
try cleaning the earpiece grille, especially the right side of it
