Today Adobe has announced their next generation of Flash player 10.1 will be available across the wide range of mobile phones out there, including WM. Indeed a public beta will be available for WM phones later this year. Another reason to love our WM phone.
Check out the announcement at: www.adobe.com
Note that this this the full Flash 10, not Flash Lite. And the player is the browser plug-in.
Good to know!
Would be better if this was posted in general so all members can notice

I thought that WM 6.1 is out already, after reading all the articles and seeing the video demonstrating the OS. do u guys have any good guess when it might come out, i would love to see the Dash with that kicking ass home screen and improved ROM.
I have been curious to know also. Everything I have read states that Microsoft will officially announce it in February, and new devices will start shipping with it in May. Given that, I would expect updates for older devices by year's end. I hope that the Dash gets the update.
Windows Mobile 6.1
Looks similar to what HTC and T-Mobile did with the T-Mobile shadow device. Changed the way the user navigates through the menus to make it "easier" anded a new homescreen and that was about it. I cant wait for win mobile 7 next year or so hopefully.
So the WM 6.1 will be announced in Feb 11:
The first vital news item is exact time and place of Microsoft's press conference, where, most likely, the Windows Mobile 6.1 will be announced:
Mobile World Congress 2008: February 11, 2008
15:00-16:00 Microsoft Press Conference
Microsoft Executive Meeting Centre
Hotel Catalonia Plaza
(organized by Microsoft Mobility Team at Weber Shandwick - a PR company that Microsoft uses)
Most likely the main speaker will be Pieter Knook (the highest in hierarchy manager responsible for Windows Mobile and not for other unrelated divisions) together with some other top managers from Microsoft and Microsoft partner companies (operators and manufacturers).

Well, threaded SMS, IE zooming and page preview... not just homescreen
Any Updates
I am seeing a lot of 6.1 related posts for other phones, but nothing on the Excalibur. Does anyone have any updates/links for a 6.1 ROM for the Excalibur?
i'd love an update too. i read on another site a quick writeup. they said for smartphone the 6.1 update will help to resolve (note: not fix entirely) the memory leaking issues. that's my biggest hope, that and an updated IE... though with the new opera coming out, it might be outdone before it even has a chance anyway.
Windows Mobile 6.1 is out, emulator images also
Here is the official press release for Windows Mobile 6.1
EveryWAN Remote Support and Mobility Manager already work on those OS flavors.
You can download the Windows Mobile 6.1 emulator images.
Don't play too late with it this night !
wondering if this will work, anyone know....
is there even a non beta release of 9.5 yet?
good question
something opera mobile related is coming out on the 15.... might wanna check it out... hahaha i just remembered that, shoot im gonna check it out lol..
Update
This info was taken from http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobil.../01/Opera-Mobile-9-5-Release-Date-Revealed/p1
It's the most popular third party mobile phone browser and now its latest and greatest incarnation is nearly here...
In a post entitled "The wait is (almost) over" late last week Norwegian coders Opera revealed version 9.5 of its hotly anticipated mobile browser is scheduled to launch on 15 July. Explaining the wait to eager fans the company explained in its blog:
"Opera Mobile 9.5 will be based on the same browser engine as Opera 9.5 for desktop, and this is the reason why it has taken some time to get it ready. A new version of the browser engine will ensure that you can surf the Web with a browser supporting the latest and greatest in Web standards."
Noob needs some help: Where is the WM 6.1 Rom file?
Read the sticky's and Kavana's WM 6.1 rom download link was empty. The link in the pdf doesn't work. Please point me to a working link so I can update my HTC s620 to Windows Media 6.1.
Thanks a lot.

Thanks. I saw that earlier but was a little confused when the kavana "msn" links didn't work. Does the Rom with "Opera" support a flash player or swf files through it's browser?
Does the opera version also include the IE browser?
My apologies for asking dumb questions, but I'm new to the HTC and windows mobile products.
I ordered an HTC phone yesterday from a vendor and wanted to get it ready for some updates.

IE is in all the roms. and i dont believe you can stream through opera..you need to use a media application. with skyfire you can stream within the browser...but thats an invite only thing
and since you ordered the phone yesterday, i assume you started reading this forum today....here is a hint, READ ALL OF THE STICKY'S

1- Misleading on Opera lol
2- you mean, doesnt the phone also have IE on it? Yes
You can also get most/all Roms in my media fire account. Here
Appreciate the help and have experience with other smart phones. Should have gone windows mobile a long time ago. This seems to be the "only" OS that supports flash. There is no other smartphone OS out there offering a flash player. The iphone doesn't offer it, the blackberry doesn't have it and many others cannot run swf files.
Unfortunately, the majority of web based multimedia depends on adobe's flash player.
Look forward to helping others as soon as some of the basics are learned.
Thanks,
Actually, Windows Mobile isn't the only OS that supports flash, Symbian OS also has support, I think it actually has more support lol.
Adobe Flash Player Lite 3 comes bundles with some phones such as some versions of the N95 if I remember correctly.
But since this is a WM forum, Symbian sucks
Hi all,
I want to visit a site that is written in flash, but I haven't succeeded displaying it. I tried with the default opera browser of the latest ROM, with IE, and with opera 10 I installed from the opera site. I enabled the plugins in the options, but again nothing.
Any ideas?
Skyfire browser supports flash. I've never used it, but have an older copy. PM me if you can't find a current one.
Pls search....
Skyfire...
IE on WM6.5 (T-Mobile version) supports an older version of flash. I was able to get Last.FM and YouTube working (but not hulu, and YouTube native app is much better anyways).
you can get skyfire from http://get.skyfire.com
i dont like skyfire. flash actually will work with the ie from 6.5 (sorta), and close to all versions of opera cept that its buggy with 10. and dont expect great playback quality with any on a mobile device. to enable it in opera there i used to use this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770) but it seems to work fine for me using this opera (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5902175&postcount=1669) on the stock 2.07 rom.
skyfire is your best bet. the latest release is wvga compatible too.
not bad

What ever version of opera comes in the stock Tilt 2 6.5 ROM doesn't support flash. IE has never supported flash by default. I had to install "Flash Player 7 Mobile" to get it to work. I still use Skyfire though. The new version has it's issues on the tilt 2 that I've found (distorted audio, browsing issues, etc), but hopefully it's just my device.

I didn't see anyone say that skyfire dropped windows mobile support, so its a wasted download, it was a few weeks ago... but its latest version was very awsome... makes me very sad to see it go. To my awareness there is no program that can stabally run web 2.0 type sites of any kind flash or other But other mobile OS's arn't much further

uZard supports flash. It's pretty slow compared to Skyfire, though.
Just wanted to inform everyone that skyfire 1.5 will be officially dead on December 31st. Guess they like the money more than those of us who helped get it to that point.
Anyway, I have switched over to Iris, and found it much better. just wanted to let you guys know.
this may be a good place to list some of your favorite browsers as well, so if you got one that you like, share the wealth!
I am using UC browser and it's fine
also opera 10 but there is a problem with shortcuts
I AM using B7320

This is not news. They might as well have said they would stop support on DEC. 9, 2009 when they released SKYFIRE 1.5. They have done nothin but lie to their supporters since then. Everytime they would release an update for Android they would turn WM support of for the weekend and say it was for maitanence. Then turned us off for three weeks for IPHONE. I can't blame em for goin after money but they could've been honest with us.
Anyone know any mobile browsers with flash support? I found one but don't really like how the videos play
It won't be until December. It is now. Skyfire no longer works on my phone. It simply gives me a pop-up box that says Skyfire will be no longer supported, but it will not go further. It simply closes out.
I loved Skyfire, but now I guess I am on the hunt for a new mobile browser.
[using WM6.5 standard at the moment]
Same thing here, I needed to get the non-mobile view of Delta Airlines website (for some reason, Opera and IE render mobile even though I have Desktop View set) and it said can't connect.
Strange, they only say v1.0 support ending, nothing about v1.5 being turned off. Unless the meant 1.x instead of 1.0, but that's not what they put.
So...any other equally good browsers (preferably with flash & other embedded streaming support) that will work on WM6.5?

Support for all WM versions will end on DEC. 31st. They will never develop another build for our devices. Our only chance of using Skyfire in 2011 will be by porting the ANDROID builds or somehow hacking the Skyfire servers but I doubt these things will ever happen. I recomend trying UZARD for a flash enabled browser but its only in beta release. I think they have also walked away from WM. They were supposed to release two versions which have been advertised on their site for at least 11 months but never released them. I don't think UZARD will turn off support but I would not expect another build. There is videos and reviews of UZARD WEB S & UZARD WEB H from back in FEB. 2010 but they never came out as I stated before probable cause they were focused on WP7. They have released builds for ANDROID & BLACKBERRY but haulted the WM builds. Oh well maybe one of the great developers on here will build a flash browser, thats our best chance of having a flash browser in the future that would be updatable.
try uZardweb...the function is almost the same like skyfire..

THANK YOU!
This is the first browser like SkyFire I've seen that actually works and still supports Windows Mobile! I can once again view sites that require streaming embedded video and flash!
It would be nice if the toolbars would minimize to full-screen, but I can live without that as long as it keeps working.
Anyone who wants a link, here it is:
http://www.uzard.com/en/down/download_windowsmobile.asp
Will give it a try!

Thak you zanpaktao!
For those of you kind of disapointed of SKYFIRE, I tested the uZard Web Beta Ver.2.0
Excelent choice...
Just installed uZard and I'm very impressed
I used skyfire for a while but since the release of the iphone ver and their servers broke, I switched back to opera, But now I can watch my flash vids in my browser again
Thanks for that!
Honestly, I will never use Skyfire on another Mobile OS because of how they treated their WinMo user base.
