It wuold be very nice if someone write a comparison table (pro,cons,features,speed,stability,impressions...) of roms actually availables:
- tom BB 4.1
- meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full
- meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE
- Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2
What do you think about?
TY Guys for your work.
bye
That would be nice; I only tried B&B 4.0 and I am about to upgrade to B&B 4.1.
It would be great to hear from the other people that tried different builds to see what their opinion is.
Add a poll, the results will be more clear.
i tried all Rom :
1)-- Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2 : Fast but not Stable else have many problem
2)-- meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE : Stable,Fast but not Touch Flo Cube
3)-- meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full : Stable , have Support Touch Flo cube but used old Build ( Original Build )
4)-- Tom BB 4.1 : New Build Based .So fast and Stable, Update many new Applications and have TFSetting Tool by Tom.U can change Button Free Active Touch Flo cube ( Love it )
1+2+3+4 ===> I using V4.1 and love it..
Cheers..!
Totally agree with capital, previous post. I'm just after installation of Tom's B&B 4.1, switched from meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE Full. I'v had before meschle O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE and the first beta of Fracoon ROM NewArtemis 1.0 BetaTest Beta2.
I'm impressed with Tom's B&B 4.1. Finally I'v got A LOT of RAM memory, it runs very fast (I'm using wisbar advance and wisbar advance desktop with it), but switched off the cube - not necessary with htc home today plugin, where I'v got all the shortcuts.
Configuration in every ROM is taking me about 2-3h, I'm after this right now and I must say, I found my OS for the next...month or so.
Tom's Black & Blue 4.1, totally amazing. Much, much better than B&B 4.0. That's my opinion. Good work Tom .
Guess I am going with B&B 4.1 Lite (all the goodies and stable) .... the other one I have liked so far was Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE (very stable), Lite version as well.
I can just confirm the above. BB4.1 full at the moment without any problems
Yes, Tom's 4.1 seems working very well. Didn't try meschle's Rom's (but i downloaded them...who knows ?! ).
Fracoons Rom (beta2) was running stable but i installed too much apps so the filexplorer sometimes hang up for approx. 1 minute...perhaps it was my fault. I don't know...
Tom's 4.1 has the most flexible tool to handle Tochflo (enable/disable TouchFlo, Scrolling, Scrolling sound) and changing finger-activation is very easy with this ROM. The only "bug" i found is in BatteryStatus: When you select "Row1" it disappears, but that's not a problem for me and i think it's easily changable with the xml file ?
At the beginning i hated the colored HTC home, but now i like it. IMHO It's better when you're outside to recognitize the differnt buttons. And Memory....it's amazing...when you start the phone there are about 29 mb free (program) and about 40mb free (storage) ! I never had this with other ROMs (anybody else?)
Vote now!
New pool started!
Hi,
I'm verry happy with Tom's B&B V4.1 (only blacklight problem...but it's not important for me)
I tried:
- Fracoon's rom -> not stable, of course, it's a beta!!!
- Meschle's rom with TF(Full) -> Stable, but i had problems with Hbuttons...think because of me (i'm still a newbie...just see when i join this forum)
- aje_fr's rom -> not stable for me (i had some problems with some programs)
As i am a french newbie, sorry for my english and i'm still waiting for an amazing french rom
There are 2 most importants things for me :
First, is that I want to say THANK YOU for all rom's cookers : without them, my artemis device would stay in stony age
Second, it's not so important to compare roms because it depends on our feelings and we are all different!!!
Cheers
PS: thx XDA !!!!!!! apologize me if i've forgotten some one
The Sweetest Thing...
You know what, no matter which ROM gets the popular vote the real winner is freedom of choice.
Having foolishly tied myself to O2 ROMs for too long to be 'safe', I can now pick from any of these excellent ROMs.
In recent weeks I have gone from an O2 Orbit that I couldn't wait to upgrade because it was slow and unreliable to a brand new Artemis that is fast, fun, functional, flexible and funky...I only keep the cube on there to impress my mates...and it sure as hell does that!
bb4.1
Hi i tried bb3.7,4.0 and lite from Meschle's.After using all I have to say Tom's 4.1 is the best
Meschle Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE LITE - all the way.
Tried B&B 4.1 and it was way too buggy for me, too unstable, kept having to softreset.
Had Meschles Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE LITE, and its perfect, fast not as much ram but still great.
I've voted for the 4.1 BUT I must say that in the last few days i had to do a lot of resets I have the feeling that 4.1 isn't faster than 4.0 and when I'm connected to my pc and active sync is working I can't do anything anymore on 4.1 while with 4.0 everything was still working
But one big plus with 4.1 for me is the camera (gps, movie, contacts and dir) is working again.
So for now I stay with 4.1!!!
Hmmm who should i vote for - i cant decide.
Poll will need updating as i release o2 premier plus rom soon
btw thanks for all that have voted for my roms its encourages me to continue cooking.
i love my DUTCH rom
hi all...
i love my own created dutch rom...
i know it has some bug but i am busy with it...
(windows mobile 6 DUTCH on artemis mda tmobile compact 3)
see u
M.
Meschle rocks!
Just casted my vote...
I must say that the rom produced by Meschle is the best one yet on my Artemis. The Artemis Touch 1.0 WWE FULL!
I like it for it's stability, no glitches whatsoever, and all the cool apps already inside it! It makes working with my pda so much fun! I tried Fracoon's rom which was also very good. Tom's rom is a bit faster, but for me it isn't as sweet as Meschle's.
But I also want to say that I recognize the hard work that ALL the wizards put in the creation of their rom's.
How lucky are we - fellow forumers -that we have the luxary of choosing between all these great rom's. Great work you guys, and thank you all!
have only tested 4.0 and 4.1 and like 4.0 way better . great rom
I,ve tested all of them...
anyway they are all great... but the best for me is:
meschle Touch WWE 1.0 lite
Why?
a) absolute stable
b) bugfree
c) perfect service by meschle
d) all in it what i need
e) much free rom
f) fast enough (not the quickest)
g) I can arrange it the way I like... latest Pocket CM and Keyboard....
h) no problems with any other software like batterystatus.
Look and read meschle´s thread and you know what I mean...
A perfect rom for me
Cheers and regards Anja31
I'm not Cube'ist, some of my best friends are cubes!
Meschle [NEW ROM] O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE
Stable, faster than original its based on! and no bugs for me
Also not having the cube but still looking good is a winner for me.
Now Meschle is teasing with talk of a new o2 premier plus so things can only get better
But still much cred to the other chefs
Hi,
Messchle's & Tom Condon & Dutch rom developpers seem to be on a new year pauze, as far as i know there hasn't been released any (WWE) rom yet in 2008, only some greek & french stuff.
What do you all like in new upcomming roms ? This to get some inspiration to the rom-creators and offcourse to keep our P3300 in the running.
Maybe some cam tool (msn live cannot start camming i think, would be nice with your p3300 via wifi
I have ordered a second P3300 (other one in repair shop).
It's the best pda-phone I ever had, gsm-gps-wifi-mp3-mp4, what more can they invent ?
Cheers,
Innovator
That's right. Im still longing here everyday for a latest and clean ROM this 2008. Artemis, my bets device Only if it had a 2.8" sized VGA screen like in Eten, nothing could beat it ever!
Regards,
Carty..
2008, maybe I change my phone
im with you new phone i need 3g
New Rom Requests
A Touch Keyboard "Add Word To Dictionary" that actually works
Hold "End Call" button to lock device
Yep looking for new phone here too.
Artemis has been amazing, but now I want 3g in the bundle so Maybe Kaiser or hang on for Polaris.
The Artemis has done well, I'm not sure of the value of writing anymore ROM's at the moment, what's new to add to them? Perhaps a Pointui ROM in the future.
I want to have rock stable and clean ROM based on HTC P3300 WM6 ROM with maximized free storage and program memory - no added applications or features (like touch and cube) - just a base for making my own system with free and commercial applications, customizations and personal data for backup and restore.
Best wishes for Meshle and Tom for their great work and happy new year.
I would like to see more roms but im looking for a new phone, whatever i get though i'l still keep my orbit
right varvocell
a clean wm6 rom would be nice indeed

Then you need the Vanilla ROM from Meschle. That one is stable and clean.
PointUi Rom
I agree with Gadjet, a pointui based rom would be nice with themes for pocket cm, wmp, cube, today screen ect Maybe someone with the skills (and time lol) could do a couple of versions eg : Black with cube, Blue with cube, Black without, Blue without...
About the topic
I think it's really nice to have people the create the ROMs we use but I think it would be a lot nicer to have a kitchen that enables the user to create his own individual ROM. There is a guy in a German Windows Mobile forum that created a tools that is close to that:
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=121552
http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=124358 (improved version)
I think it was the pandora kitchen that made me wish that we had it too. I think in that kitchen you can select between about 100 packages which ones you want on your pda. Basically we need a kitchen and packages that work for our Artemis, then updating shouldn't be the biggest problem.
I respect the "Chefs" that cook really nice ROMs and I'm not telling them to stop their good work. But if we all had one big kitchen this would be a community again because the users could create their own packages and their own ROMs.
Once I found out how easy it is to create a package and cook your own ROM I was surprised that no one told me before. The tutorials are either overloaded or don't have enough information for the beginners to understand what the Chefs are talking about. That's why I'm going to make video tutorials in February and post them as soon as they are ready (starting in my own language).
I'd be happy if we could make this nice place a true community again where the users think about contributing. To be a good example I'll post my first tutorial within the next week.
That tool you have linked to looks awesome.....I'm into that in a big way and will give it a go when I have some time...thanks for sharing....

It's my current ROM - I agree - very stable, clean, with good battery life and plenty of free memory, but as far as I know it's not based on P3300 (and I'm not sure if Java midlet manager in this ROM could be used without any legal problems).

Have you tried the last new ROM from Meschle Vaniila 4.01? This one is even
faster than the other releases. I'm working with this one for a week now and this one is also stable and very very fast.
Artemis vs Polaris
I have tried out the Polaris a bit, and it looks almost the same as the Artemis, only faster (400 MHz) and with some minor approvements. I especially like the screenshield which follows. But, I miss the full GPS package with car kit and charger, but this is just accessories, and can be bought anywhere. I will definite buy one of those in som time......I think... Depends on the next generation of ROMs from the gurus here at XDA
Greetings from Norway, especially to Tom Codon, Meschle, Bepe, Carty and a lot of other great developers on this forum.
Basically, I use my TYTN to take the odd picture, write stuff on WORD, play lots of games and browse using netfront, using a older ROM, will it make difference? also, because there is well over 100 roms for either, it would be nice to know a good rom, fast, not buggy, doesnt need hard resets very often, do any of you recommend a good rom? also, although i made a rom well over a year ago, which is the best (and noob-y friendly) kitchen to cook maybe a little rom dish of my own?
Any help given is appreciated.
Regards
The reason I ask is, I have been away from PDA's for well over a year
Thanks for any help
Hi, welcome back. There are many WM6.1 rom threads on page 1 for u to check out (forget the old wm6.0). Here's a thread post's info on the same question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442159
6.1 vs 6.0
I like all the flash which is built into most of the newer (6.1) roms, but after trying most all of them have stayed with 6.0. The major reason is stability. I have not yet had a 6.1 rom go more than 4 days without needing a hard reset. For those who are into flashing frequently anyway, that's no big deal. But if you want a rom that works reliably, and that you can load up with software without worrying about having to reload everything after a hard reset, I'd stick with 6.0.
Best wishes all,
For the Hermes, I have to agree with Edhaas. 6.1 has never worked as solidly for me as 6.1. (My Athena is another matter.) If you can do without the threaded SMS, then stick with 6.0.
Two I recommend are:
Edhaas' SuperD-Lite (Most worry-free ROM of the 25 or so that I have flashed to the Hermes.)
Or Shamanix Ultimate V2 (Very solid with more polish than SuperD-Lite.)
And as far as Kitchens are concerned, I found the easiest to use was Matt's Pandora Kitchen. It has a lot of options to play around with, so don't expect to get things perfect the first time, but once it is set up it is dead easy to make a ROM.
Hello guys, I bought my HTC P3300 more than two years ago, but I still apreciate it a lot and I don't wanna change with a new model now!
Nevertheless I would like to update the ROM since I'm basically tired of the graphic, of the need of the "pen" for almost all the operations, which the official wm6 rom offers.
But I'm a totally newbie in mount cooked roms, and also in the choice of which one could be good for my needs!
I read a bit around, to understand what was the most suitable coocked ROM, but i get very confused.
As far as I understand, when a ROM claims "Manila 2D" means that the interface is "diamond" style but lighter (needed since the 200MHz cpu of the artemis with respcet to the >500MHz of the diamond) due to the 2D instead of the 3D graphic. Is it true?
If is it like this, I would like to have some suggestion for a manila 2D good rom, since I would like to have a diamond style GUI on my artemis.
PS: I will not go to update rom every months, I think I will mount one up to the end of the days of my artemis, so I would like to have some suggestion of some ROM as much stable and fast as possible, is not important that has no last version of the programs mounted on it etc...
Thank you in advance for the suggestions,
Bye,
Dins.
hey
well about the manila 2D right our artemis can't handle 3D cuz of the CPU, RAM & graphics (as i know)
it's been long time ago since i used manila cuz it eat much RAM for me so i prefer a clean rom while u will don't need the stylus too in it
anyway the best one i used with manila is the Flyrom (search for it) but newer builds i don't know about them with the manila
I really need a help for obtaining an excellent WM6.5.x ROM + <<sense 2.5>>
I've searched all WM6.5.x ROMs on XDA but i don't know which of them can be better for 'HTC TOUCH DAIMOND'
In fact ,i want "WM6.5.X CLEAN ROM+SENSE 2.5 ,STABLE,FAST AND WITH SETTING ITEM IN START MENU "
IF IT IS OFFICIAL ,IT WILL BE BETTER CERTAINLY
THEREFORE,Please Help Me For Finding best ROM ,tanX
simple, not exist
LOL
Don't waste your time with 6.5 it is always going to be slow
Now I can tell you what a good all rounder rom is an that is the MEMO one.
I would say this as I'm helping with it but IMHO it's a keeper.
MEMO Rom
Yes, i too say that 6.5 is not for Diamond. So why u try that?
With all the options the MEMO ROM is the best one (Try it and feel it)
Regards
I'm using the latest energy rom + cookie home tab, and is fast, stable and has good graphics..there is only one problem the free ram is a bit (18-20 mb)
energy rom
Sure, energy roms, especially the latest, are bright, fast, BUT NOT LIGHT due, perhaps in a certain way to the huge amount of apps included. Things that most people does not use. I prefer using wm 6.5.5 rahter than 6.1, but today there is no light rom WITH SENSE (2.1 OR 2.5) AND WM 6.5.5. You can find a good titanium rom wm 6.5.5 (ralpfudsion ralGT1J) with plenty of free ram and stable
Hi,
First you need to understand the limitation of your equipment and specially for the ram. On my side I have tried several rom and I have normally a preference for rom 6.5.x due to my HD2. So I found a good compromised between 6.1 and 6.5.x it is a 6.5 rom (build 21907) back to basic. There is enough ram left and I can customized as I want. The other solution as stated above is to use a titanium version of 6.5.x or 6.5. I also recomand Ormet rom the 8.32 one.
Hope it will help you
I would suggest you to try out the Gen Y WWE ROM. Its a 6.1 with Sense 2.1 ROM. Pretty stable. It has a share of its own issues, but you may wanna try it out yourself. Its got a very good integration of Sense into it with a Start Menu that the Topaz (Diamond 2) shipped with.
The link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521941
Here you go. Try it. Its got some good features. If you are starting out new, I suggest take small steps. Rather than taking a leap into 6.5 or 6.5.x give this one a try.
What's your idea ?
tanX of all for your nice suggestions nonetheless it's better that i use WM6.1 for HTC touch diamond instead of WM6.5.X
I INSTALLED DONSALARI ROM(WM6.5) ,IT WAS NOT BAD... , however it has some features that i want
roughly OK : WM6.5.X+SENSE 2.5

I personally had issues with that rom. Diamond does not truly perform too well with it. Had it for a few days then removed it. For instance my video stuttered horribly with it and my album never even began playing H.264 videos. I could only use WMP.
I personally think you should fall back on a tweaked 6.1 ROM with Sense 2.1 or Sense 2.5. Maybe you could search for Manila cab and install it.
try the Don Salari rom dude. i think it's the best official rom n' it's very light (clean basic). good luck!
you might want to try out Benko's 6.5.3 ROMs for Diamond.
Here's the link.
