Which ROM are you using?
Check settings/connections/USB to PC and make sure to check the box for "enable charging over USB"
I need to clarify more for my dash's problem.
When I use the wall charger my Dash could not be charged, samething with USB connect to PC. But sync to PC I have no problem at all.
my ROM version is 1.11.531.1
Cheap workaround

Try changing your rom or if that fails you could order the Dash Dock for PC with the extra battery charger. THis is a cheap workaround if your dash is not still under warranty. I saw a dash dock w/ battery and a car charger for 18$ the other day on AMAZON
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1EAKC73XQPYG3RGGKD2S
Now I cannot sync with PC anymore (try ur suggestion to changing ROM). Any help to update ROM by micro SD card ?

go to the last panel "settings" scroll left or right till you see, "USB to PC" click on it and remove the first check mark.
plug your phone back into the usb cord.
If I unmark that noway it will be connected to USB port. I did try and no luck
Did you try a new battery?
It seems from most of your past posts you are full of bad luck with phones. If you replaced your LCD screen recently, then you might want to be sure you installed it and all other functioning parts correctly. I believe there is a youtube post floating around that tells you exactly how that should be done.
That might be a reason it's not charging but any feedback helps right?
I agree with the above. As an electrically minded individual, I must say, that you either don't have something connected correctly, OR you are grounding out your system and there is no way to charge this. If you have grounded out your system. Check your internal electrical connections. This is what I do for a living. TRUST ME
Would you give me more details how
I read all of your posts and it appeared that I am at fault for fixing my own phone. Either I have a bad luck or I don't have enough skills to fix my Dash, at least I tried my best and also that the reason I came here for help. Please either help, advise, suggest but if you offer no help just be quiet instead of telling me that I am stupid. I may not know much about the phone likes the last 2 guys but I am willing to learn from your guys.
I bought one of these: HERE
It doesn't work, so I'm wondering if any one has experience with this cable, it says it's an OTG but I get no power from it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
I tried to plug in several things like my PS3 controller and a HDD but nothing.
I'm wondering if the pin that is supposed to be shorted to ground is on the mini end and not the micro end like we want it to be.
Otherwise I wonder if I I can modify it work rather than send it back?

I lol'd at these two getting owned
But anyway I built my own usingthis and a usb extension. Followed this instructions. So my guess is that the cable you have doesn't have the 5th pin (brown wire) grounded. I butchered a regular micro usb cable just to find out it didn't have the brown wire at all.
Hope this helps!

This is my guess also, but the eBay guy as you can see clearly sells it as an OTG cable. I have been in touch and he says his supplier says it's an OTG but he doesn't have the technical expertise to understand, let alone advise.
I guess the solution is as you say, I went to the workshop, and even tried the local electronics store and it seems you can't buy the micro-usb plug as an individual component so butchering other stuff seems to be the solution.
As for the tutorial, thanks, but I shouldn't need it, otherwise I should probably send back the certificate for my degree in Electronic Engineering that's on my wall, cause I really wouldn't have earned it

Yeh, It does look nice and neat, that's why I ordered that one, if I get the time I'll make some myself and just give them out to people I like on XDA. Just need to find the micro plug, mini plug is easy to get hold of.

Well, the iGo is no good, because they probably don't have the data lines connected, as it's for charging.
The one in your next post on eBay won't fit if it's an CA-157 substitute, I got hte real Nokia CA-157 and the connector is squared off at the end, picture: HERE
however, I did get a file to the end of my CA-157 and filed it to fit, and YES it works (taking a picture now)..... attached.
The cable you linked to on ebay is just a micro usb to a mini usb, an OTG cable is a Micro male to USB female.
4 bucks free shipping: Ebay
Spend 4 more dollars and get one with a cool blinky LED in it:

This ist a very good information and now I have the same cable as you working perfectly for me! In the first place I ordered the cable in the believe it would fit anyways but after receiving it yesterday I had to face the fact that there is an A and B standard of the micro usb plug. Your tip has saved me money, thanks for that!

No problem. I have this and the cable from my OP now working too. I opened it up and found the ID pin was not connected so I soldered it to ground and that works now. SO I have a direct cable for my HDD and a female USB (the filed Ca-157) for other stuff.

Galaxy Nexus problem - charging problems- it will not charge when the phone is switched on, if I turn it off it will charge partially. Sometimes after turning on it will still have the charging symbol displayed even though not plugged in. Anyone have any ideas? I'm using the original charging cable from wall and pc and I've tried an old cable. Flashed no ROMs on it.
I wouldn't even mess around with it. I would head to verizon and talk with them. Not worth trying to find a fix
No such thing as verizon in the UK but yeah I get you - T-Mobile is my carrier
Yeah, definitely order a refurb from your carrier.

You can try it, but it sounds like a serious connection problem. Try a different cable, outlet, plug, and battery.
Emphasis on different battery, it REALLY sounds like that may be the culprit.
Tried all apart from the battery as I don't have another
You have this and it's fatal unless you want to change your own USB board.

Try a battery. Go to your providers store and tell them the problem, they can probably test it out for you.
Simple. The problem is with the micro USB port on the phone. Just wedge a tweezer inside and bend up the nub a bit. It worked for my phone and the problem never came back.

I got this phone 2 days ago, and I have noticed that the USB that came with it, has something like 2 little teeth at the bottom (I guess they are made to hold in the USB better)... But I kind of have to force the USB to come in, and I am afraid that I will damage the port. So is this USB safe to use and can it damage the port? Should I get an USB from another phone?

Its fine, 2 little teeth on the flat part, good usb cables will require some effort and may make a click sound.
My 3rd party usb have smaller teeth which makes the connection flimsy and insecure which is worse over time as it can bend the connection in the phone.
you shouldn't worry, you could use a Qi charger, what's worse is dust and lint blocking up the port being in your pocket which requires a clean
The cable will ware out before the port on your phone does. That's why it was designed that way, I believe.
I believe this wont damage your device

Broken in like a car!
I think i just ****ed my phone with a simple USB. I wanted to stream to pc so i plugged a usb c into my device and into my pc, then i noticed it wasnt detecting on redmagic app so i unplugged, now my battery status is in green and it has a white lightning bolt by it, and thinks it is charging when it isnt. Says charging 45 days left, accubattery has stupid high voltage, and rebooting doesnt fix it. Do i need to send it back for warranty or something? never had issues with default charger, i just used this ****ing usb c for streaming and now my **** is broken if i shut off the phone it brings itself back and before unlock shows the charging symbol in the middle. Please can anyone help me ill take any suggestions
Maybe the charger is the problem.
Always check the charger.

my default charger never had an issue, all i did was plug in a usb-c into the pc as the app states, now high heat, drain, and i cant charge because it thinks its charging

i dont think you read my post, since i plugged in that usb to my PC TO STREAM, NOT CHARGE, i CANNOT use any other one, because android thinks it is charging without ANYTHING PLUGGED IN. If i plug in a charger, nothing changes, because android already thought it was charging

Maybe the port got damaged? Try to clean it first if possible using an ear swab dipped in rubbing alcohol with the device turned off and let it dry.
If it's a damaged port, may need to be repaired.
If yes, do a factory reset.

Do you understand what power surges are or what improperly plugging in a cable can do to a port of a mobile device?
For example: Too much or too low voltage can damage a port to the point the device will think something is there, when it isn't. The same goes for damaging the pins when you plug the charger in.

my friend was saying something similar, but was originally going more towards "android got drunk, reset"
but sadly that didn't work. So im assuming plugging in a usb-c to my phone to my pc literally ****ed my port/battery. I didn't SHOVE it in, i plugged it in as i would my normal charger.
if voltage is the case, i find it very unfair they don't disclose this in their streaming app, it simply says to use a usb-c and that is what i did, now im paying for trying to use a feature of a device i paid for.
already shot an email to support, and have a backup phone in the meantime.
appreciate your response, backing up one of the theories of why its now screwed.

"stuff" happens, it's unfortunate but technology is known to go bad randomly without explanation. Best to get it repaired if you still have warranty. Otherwise, upgrade the phone to something newer. It's just bad luck.
Sometimes people buy cars and they break down within a few months.

Did you try the rubbing alcohol cleaning? I had something similar with an ipad, the USB c cable broke a couple of the female port and it ended up screwing the whole thing, as much as I want to advice anything, it ain't a software issue but a hardware one, the only option I see it's cleaning the port and trying to "scrap" any debris that might been left by the other cable, If that doesn't work, then yes, use your warranty asap

i didn't even think of that, but if i were to do that, wouldn't they then use that as an argument of why it stopped working? "oh well you put cleaning alcohol in the port, of course its gonna break idiot" etc
i have some of https://www.amazon.com/CRC-05101-QD...prefix=crc+aq+elecronic+cleane,aps,104&sr=8-2
that, i used it before on electronics, it says its safe for electronics and i used it to clean my weed pens before, but i really dont wanna try to clean it if it can be used against me later. It also doesn't APPEAR like anything is on the connector, but who knows right. I just dont wanna try to clean it, then have them blame me and refuse warranty because i tried to fix it, even amazon said with what i said, the device is defective, so idk maybe i will try

i dont think port is damaged, i think voltage from my pc to phone was so high/low that it totally ****ed the battery or port.
once again, all i did was take a USB-C CORD and PLUG IT INTO MY DEVICE, took the other end and plugged into USB, i see nubia app doesnt see phone, unplug it, and ****ed.
has to be electrical, nothing else makes sense for what i did, the only cord they give you out of the box is a 65w usb-c to usb-c, had i a proper cord from usb-a to usb-c i wouldnt be in this situation
https://imgur.com/RD7c0LV
i did what it said, and now im paying for it. Given the fact there's no way to change the charging method/wattage/voltage in the system, i feel they should at least specify what TYPE of usb-c cord to use, because im just a normal user who wanted to stream to pc, and all because i simply did what they said, I'm out of a phone. Ridiculous.
im convinced the voltage of device + too high/low voltage of port, screwed the battery up, and now it thinks its always charging, and says 45 days left till full charge, does this not sound like a problem from electricity? i did NOTHING ELSE, this is the dumbest thing i've ever had to deal with, all because i plugged in my phone to pc
