Okay sorry I know the question and solution was posted but one of my questions it doesnt fix. FYI I have the HTC stock EU 1.86.401.0 Rom
1) The mms limit cab, changes one part of the registry in my phone, but doesnt in another part. when I go to all messages then new/mms and the custom template opens it says on the bottom 1000K, but click on menu from all msgs and go to options and then to servers and click on att mms in the send limit it still says 300k where is the setting to change this to 1000k also, it seems this is stopping me from sending. My fuze use to send 600K so I know the limit isnt 300 and when i drop the menu down I only have 100k 200k and 300k as options.
2) On the home page in winmo 6.5 with 2.1 sense How do you activate the animation on that screen for the clouds? I usually hit the top right corner to bring down the task menu and then close it up, is there a timer or something that it comes up on its own?
Also I asked this question before but never got a straight answer about if there is a AIO IM program that uses the SMS service and not data. So I resorted to going into my fuze and pulling out the OZ IM program that does AIM Yahoo and MSN, So I attached it here, thought someone could use it.
bump anyone?

Ok as far as 1. It is in the reg that this can be changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\SizeLimit ATT allows a max sending of 600kb
2. have you added any tweaks for your home screen? like a background for all or clear today?
No Actually I am using the htc stock Eu rom, I have add prgs, but this was something that was happening even before. It also occured with custom roms, for example I tried nrgz rom and it was the same, unless you hit a key like the task button on the top right, the animation wouldnt occur on the home screen. So I know its not the custom roms or the stock, but right now I was in an sms htc's sms program, clicked back, and then thumbed the button back to the home screen anmd I got the clock and the weather right under the clock but the whole screen being animated with cloud cover doesnt happen unless I hit the task bar in the upper right corner.
And as for the mms fix, I found the location to change it to 1000k, but your right seems ATT does have it locked to 600k cause I tried 7,8,9 and 1k and it wouldnt go thru, so the hack is in essence useless for anything over 600k
I used the Raisaks MMS 3 meg limit from the Kaiser forum on my Tilt2 and it worked fine. You can then select the size of mms you want. I think the sizes are 600k, 1meg and 3 megs. Keep in mind that you are still limited to the carrier maximum. Look for the cab in the Kaiser section. It works perfectly for the TP2.
still want to find out why the home screen animation only works the way I stated though
I have noticed that when I choose to send a photo as an MMS it gets re-sized to within an inch of its life. A typical 900kb photo gets re-sized to 10kb or 15kb. Terrible quality. My old N82 phone used to send the photo at close to 300kb limit so you got a very good quality MMS.
I have had a look around the forums and it seems there are varying explanations but no conclusive judgments on why this is?
1. It is caused by the Network not recognizing the phone. (althought ppl have reported this on T-mobile too)
2. It is android sendnig all MMS as a "slide show" instead of just attaching the image.
Which is correct, or is it something else? Can it be worked around to send good quality 250kb - 300kb pic attachments.
I would also like to know this, I've had it with the last few HTC phones on Android.
I'm on o2, which haven't supported any of the latest phones, so could be the network I presume. I always got told it was the network before when I raised this issue.
one possible explanation from another user on a different forum stated
Basically what happens when you send a MMS is that is goes to your operators MMSCentre and while its there it reads in the User Agent Profile of your phone so it can determine what size of the picture you sent and it will resize it to the recipients phone screen size (as it may be a different size)
Now heres where the problem lies (i think)
If your operator dont have the User Agent profile for your phone loaded into the MMSCentre it will send the picture to the recipients as the default (small size)-->so long story short you have to wait for O2 to update your phone in the database in the MMSC.
I don't think this is right though. My phone resizes/compressed the message before I even hit send, so I don't believe its the network at all. I think its android using this "slide show" crap instead of just resizing the picture to under 300kb and leaving it at 250kb etc. Not compressing it to 10kb.
If this IS an android problem surely all HTC Hero users would have reported it, and all of their MMS (sent or received) would have been under 20kb? Major flaw if thats the case? Anyone know more?
I've just got a hold of a HTC Hero to try the same experiment on.
I go to photo album, choose to share a photo as a message.
The HTC hero resizes to 45kb not 10kb, and it does not insert the photo as an image in a slideshow, it just attaches it as an image. Just like my old Nokia N82 did. No slideshow crap.
I went through all of the settings and cannot see the difference that would cause his to be an attached image and mine to be inserted in this slideshow format. Possibly coming from the network? I'm unsure. Slideshow format is rubbish though. I just want to send the larger image like the Hero does. argh....
Slight thread change but...
Can Anybody who has O2 on simfree let me know the MMS settings I cant seem to send MMS picture messages. Ive seen that link on the O2 website, but I cant seem to get it working. Ive added in an additional APN, and As O2 dont support it yet they cant help me.
I have installed Handcent, but cant send from either handcent or HTC messaging.
Thanks in advance.

It's the operator.
Had the exact same problem when I was in the UK and used O2. When I returned to Norway and Telenor (which have Android devices) MMS are sized properly.
The workaround is to use Handcent or chompSMS and change the useragent to The N95 or the iPhone.

Thats great Zappza. Conclusive.
Hopefully all networks that plan to sell the Desire will have support soon. Cheers

Wow. That's interesting. ... YouTube, of course a Google property, encourages simplified uploading of videos direct to youtube from phone using MMS...
Worked on my Hero -- because of smaller video file sizes. On the Desire, using default highest resolution video, all attempts at uploading any length of video fail immediately "exceeds file size for MMS" or something of that nature...
Have you tried to see if your workaround would also work for VIDEOS -- or is that just pushing beyond the limits -- not to mention the prohibitive costs of MMS messaging unless you have a flat rate plan.
no its not the network,
The max mms size is 300Kb as defined in the sms/mms settings in the default sms handler in android
handcent allows you to change the default mms size setting and you can select 1Mb so that will help you anyway

there is an option where you share the video/upload to yt not using MMS. The size and quality remain the same.

yes, you can share video using mobile internet or wifi. Just make sure your logged into your youtube account on the phone. No MMS required.

No, I think you missed the point I was making. If the maximum defined limit is 300kb or 3000kb, my pictures still get re-sized to 10kb or 15kb when I choose "share via messaging"
I have the same thing on the HD2 and Desire, both using Vodafone uk.
The HD2 used to work just fine up until a few weeks ago, Vodafone could not answer why it was happening, but I reckon its a network issue, or the Rom upgrade on the HD2 was the culprit.
When my HD2 comes back from HTC tomorrow, ill stick the old 1.43 Rom back on, and see if it solves it...
thanks pastypacker, let us know how you get on, I'll keep an eye on the thread.

sorry bro, misunderstood
in that case, yes i think its your provider.
It's all good. hopefully the network will make the appropriate changes when they start selling the phone here shortly.
One big difference tween the bb and the tcp2 is my email accts. On the tcp2, when I receive an email, it usually gives me the message that the rest of the message will download the next time I send and receive. Is there anyway I can get the entire email when I open the message? Thanks.

dude go to email settings then double click on your account name then just change download size setting..
simple na
I have changed the settings before and not had any better results, but will look at again. Seems like it is through windows phones that I have this issue.
open the messaging program in the start menu and go to options in the menu, then you have to change the download size settings for each e-mail account you have, it's usually default at 2kb but you can change this to entire message
OK, I hear what you're saying......
But I don't see a download limit on my options menu! I'm running the new AT&T ROM (not a cooked one). I've been through the home tab settings, the start menu settings, and messaging options. Don't see it. Any thoughts?!?

Did you look in Messaging, Menu>Tools>Options, and selected an account in the list?
With POP/IMAP accounts, that should give you 3 options, one of which is to change the download size.
Finally found it, thanks.
After a few days though, messages become unavailable, the white envelope icon on the left side of the message in the list, has the green pointing down arrow on them.
This is for plain text emails too, can't read them. I have set the options to download the whole email always and all the attachments.
Any ideas?

Just recently I have noticed a change on how images are displayed within the body of Emails.
I have the Email size set to 1 MB. When I receive an Email with images I am prompteI have experimented switching WIFI on and off and go back to the same emails. With same odd resultsd with a button to "Show Images", when I click on the button I get..
HSPA : The images displayed in full.
WIFI : Small question marks with no images.
.
Any ideas?
I find it rather odd that the limit on # of members of a group is 20, while the limit on # of SMS message recipients is 10 (at least on my AT&T Focus). Makes the Group Texting feature in Mango a bit less useful than it should otherwise be.
I just found a registry setting that might be of interest here - haven't had a chance to test yet. (It'll probably be Sunday before I have a good reason to send a text to > 10 of my friends).
Under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ShortMsg\Settings : LimitRecipients = 10 is the default. I suspect that increasing this value will allow larger groups of text message recipients. Will report back once I've had a chance to test.
Huh... that's set to 100 on my HD7 (T-Mobile US). I'm guessing it's a carrier thing (yay AT&T!) Definitley try changing it and let us know the result!
Set to 64 on Stock Mango...So, no problem
But cool that you've found that!
Hmm... It does enable the phone to attempt sending the message, but it seems AT&T is blocking it on their end for >10 recipients in any case... The message fails to successfully be sent (can't send/try again link) if there are more than 10. But the phone doesn't refuse to try to send it, so apparently that is the right setting for what it's worth.
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Actually now I'm not so sure ... other intermittent problems with MMS messages on AT&T today, so may just be a network fluke that it didn't go through. Will have to try again sometime.
So, this works as long as the Group Text (MMS) setting is turned off. If it's on, the phone will try to send, but AT&T bounces it (i.e. can't send, try again) if there are > 10 recipients. With that setting off, using pure SMS, no problems sending texts to a large number of recipients (have tested with 20, at least).
Thanks ! Must have tweak
On mine phone (htc trophy) is the value (100).
I am now asking it on my provider, how many I can sent ones.
But now the htc trophy can only sent 1 sms to 100 recipients?
Except the provider don't do it
Edit: if I change some register settings he don't save it

Default is 10,
Changed to 100.
Tested, works great.
idea
my omnia w/plus brand/- not registry key- CU/Software/Microsoft/ShortMsg/Settings LimitRecipients = 10... It maybe best to remove it, instead of adding value?
