Hi so I'm not very happy about the autorotation on Froyo. I want to have it like it was on Eclair, that is not to rotate to the right if the phone tilts to it, but only autorotate to the left.
Is there a way to do this, I'm getting insane since I want to liedown and type in landscape without hassle.
Thanks for any help
Ps is it only my autorotation that has a very slow response since Froyo update?
I don't actually think there is a way. At least I haven't seen one, haven't heard it mentioned, or can think of where it would be. As for the lag I haven't had any. I've actually been amazed at how snappy my phone is now.
You could try a home replacement application.
It's a Sense ROM feature that HTC implemented, which I really hate!
I am running launcher pro plus, but it's control can't take determine the systems rotation.
Also I sent an email to an creator of apps about this. Also whom changed the headline it look to be a miss comprehension of my first post? (using the xda app).
I can tilt to right, center and left but want control of the tilts.
Is there a way of enabling the zoom buttons (+/-) on the stock browser in GB as it was on ec05? Noticed them gone in ef02 and eh17. Havent made the move yet to ei22, but I understand it's gone from there as well.
Searched and found a post from earlier in the year but no replies. I hope this thread doesn't meet the same fate...
Not to be a jerk and bump my own thread, but over 100 views and no replies? This is not a good sign. I know a lot of people use Dolphin or Opera, but I am a fan of the stock browser and would love to be able to quickly resize the font. Yes, I can do a pinch zoom, but the frames dont always resize to the display width properly that way.
Just wondering if anyone else has the same issues that I get with the stock browser.
It seems quite sluggish when scrolling but the main problem is when zooming in, it is slow to redraw. When zooming out I get a large white screen around the part I was looking at and have to wait a couple of seconds for it to redraw. I have looked at various browser hands on one YouTube and none seem to have this issue.
It also seems to just close itself occasionally with no error message.
Thanks for any input.
I've installed Chrome beta and it offers a lot better browsing experience. It doesnt seem to have the redrawing bug when you zoom in.
Those reviews on the Internet have an updated version of the OS. Most likely this update fixed the issue.
Ya, the browser is terrible slow when it comes to scrolling and pinch to zoom. But I never had a delay of seconds. Definitely something wrong btw with some lower level implementations . Stock ICS browser has the same problems.

How nice for HTC to make sure the review devices were updated hehe.
Maybe I have been spoiled with the browser experience on my Galaxy S2 with a custom rom . Pretty sure back when that was new I had similar issues.
At least some noted developers are already here and working on Roms.
Will give Chrome a try too.
Don't know if this for sure, but i faced non of the phone arena touch issues
i had 3 fingers gestures disabled in the phone settings and hence had full multitouch
if someone can confirm it works better with full multitouch?

Sounds weird. I spend at least 4 hours browsing on my phone everyday (news, forums, deviantart, 500px, etc) and I honestly cannot compare my experience to any other. It's butterly smooth, fast as hell, and most vivid. My only complaint is the battery life, I can't get more than 5 hours of browsing on WiFi...no matter what.
I think you may have a rogue app in the background. Try reflashing your stock ROM without restoring any apps, and see if the problem continues.
Cheers
this video shows exactly how i described the browser, locked 60fps with only the tiling/flash effect when the page snaps, happens in split second, first time i experienced such a smooth stock browser, its much smoother than opera mobile

im convinced the issues you guys mention are related to the 3 touch gesture mode in settings, i had this setting disabled
I had lag also and when i got the phone ran the multi touch and would only record 2 fingers max, disabled HTC's 3 finger swipe and now it is very responsive. Ran the test again and now records up to 9 fingers.

hold on a second! first thanks for confirming the browser issues are related to this setting
maybe this is the cause of all problems!
3 finger swipe is actually used to send the image/mirror to the HDMI output, maybe its causing the other issues?
I should thank you for bring up disabling the 3 finger swipe which reminded me of the the touch sensor test i ran when i got the phone.
Thanks.
I've used just about every browser but have been pretty happy with the stock Android browser since ICS until now.
I've noticed since I've upgraded to JB official version via ota that just touching the screen and scrolling starts zooming. This doesn't always happen and is hard to intentionally replicate because it seems to happen more on some sites than others but it is becoming increasingly annoying.
I like just beinc able to double tap to zoom but now it seems to zoom at random with just one press.
The other small improvements to the factory browser are pretty nice but I'm not sure what's going on here.
I Googled this issue and even tried to look up specific JB changes pertaining to the stock Android browser but haven't seen anything about single touch zoom or rather random zoom.
Any thoughts (besides just download xyz browser)?

Your touching the left or right side of the screen, slide up is zoom in, slide down is zoom out....was trippin me out to until I figured out where to touch. Allows for one finger zoom and works in dolphin as well, prolly other browsers but haven't tested any yet.

Does anyone know how to disable this? I HATE IT!
^ this..
Bump. I hate this as well. It's redundant when we already have a gesture for zooming: pinching. And we can't afford to waste any more screen real estate on our phones.
Ditto
hope there's an option soon to disable. hate going to stock email app, opening an email, wanting to scroll through fast to read but instead zoom that thing large enough for my great grandmother to read. And it always seems easier for me to zoom in rather than zoom out. hahaha
Too annoying!
Hard to believe there is no option to disable this obnoxious annoyance. I'm fairly new to Android but if this was my old winmo I'd scour the registry and surely locate an entry to tweak.
Is there somewhere similar on the Android filesystem or through the terminal I could begin to look for a tweak?

I think I read in the MOAR thread that it was disabled in MA6.
Android is hard-coded. Samsung are morons.

What I am finding is the Android environment is pretty much all hard-coded. So unless the developer have you a setting where you could flip a switch, you're stuck with it, or you are downloading customs from here.
I actually like the slide zoom feature although as others have stated, at first I thought there was a bug that was causing it to zoom on its own. l suspect, like you I am used to using the slider in Windows at the right edge to scroll down the page of email.
Anyway, I have since gotten used to it and now am not going to perform the update to MA6/MB1 because I depend on it for one handed email.
What is most frustrating is to know they know it is a hard-coded environment and they could have just as easily added a switch to disable the feature (which by the way is undocumented - and Samsung chat support will tell you doesn't exist) rather than to simply disable. it.

Ah, so they did disable it. I was going nuts trying to figure out why it no longer worked. I was actually starting to like it too- it was pretty handy for one-handed browsing. They should've just kept it as a settings option.
UPDATE: Focal apk landed in the play store as a beta, link to play store:

Im using 4.2, try it, no it wont replace it, its a separate app
Works fine front camera doesn't work (android 4.3)

The facing camera works but sometimes it makes force close!
Gave it a whirl on the latest 10.1.2. Got some force closes as well, and odd behavior. Sometimes when starting up Focal, the torch turns on and stays on, with just a black screen. Backing out causes a force close. It's a nice app but I think it could use some refinement, especially the menus. I'm sure they'll keep on improving it.
One hell of a camera. Can't wait to see it work I perfect in an official cm mako 4.3 build.
It's good to be nexus.
Front facing works for me.

My first impression is that the framerate is significantly lower than with the stock camera - making for an overall sluggish experience.
Some random impressions while checking out its features:
- the Photosphere feature looks like a quick addition/afterthought, as the 'dots' you have to connect are just jagged sprites/images, instead of smooth circles - perhaps not that important functionality-wise, but it looks sloppy to me.
- The interface might work after a while of practice, but for now it forces me to hunt around for options too much - the ability to open more than one 'toggle group', seems more like a necessity (so that I can find the option I want) than a feature I'd use after I know where each toggle can be found (I compare it to finding a file on my computer, I know where each file/folder is, partly due to descriptive names and a clear structure. But if I needed to find something fast, I would not open all the folders until I found the file, I would just use a search function).
And I too have had the forced closes, black screen when opening it until I close the process, but that I can forgive of an... alpha-quality release.
I'm on stock 4.3 if that makes any difference.

It's alpha, sure, and it won't be in mainline CM for a while, but it's brilliant. This is more of a functional mockup than a daily use cam. Can't wait for the final release and next things to come in CM!
Well, I will keep an eye on it, but I myself will hold off on calling it rubbish/brilliant (or anything in between) until a later release
I love the app, the way everything is set up. I am having issues (on 4.3) with force closes, and my N4 restarted twice - once after tapping on a color option, and again when I tried to switch to Picsphere mode. But not again after the first two times.
It's crazy quick when snapping (non-HDR) pics, and I'm a sucker for nice animations, so I love the one this camera has. I really, really cannot wait until a beta, then a full, release is available. It's certainly heading in the right direction!
Works on 4.3 running cm 10.2 (JWR66V)

In 4.3 stock works, but I don't like too much. But it's an alpha, so Focal is a good start
I thought it would be a bit faster but it seems a little laggy but I love to get my hands on this kind of projects that look so promising

Surely this is the first step of many new things we'll begin to see for our devices and be able to get even more out of them than we thought we could

Focal is pretty cool. Two things I noticed tho, one is that it doesn't play nice with Halo. If I opened focal with Halo active, it started snapping pics nonstop soon as it launched.
And two, its a RAM hog.
With Focal
W/O Focal
Other than that, it ran well. No FC's and what not.
Thanks for the hu.

This is the only free camera app that won't crop the 4:3 image to fit our 15:9 screen ratios. I don't know if you can toggle it to do so, but I don't really care for cropping in the viewfinder.
Whom do I direct my comments since OP has no affiliation with the CyanogenMod team? If they are going to use black bars, then they might as well have a bevy of persistent settings; rather than having to tap multiple times to achieve minute adjustments. Further, I don't understand why this app isn't called CMera. Please call it CMera.

Introduction: Half-assed truths
I agree that CMera does not play well with HALO, but I don't agree with your second comment. Your screen caps show a very vague idea of what is actually eating your RAM. It might have something to do with the three simultaneous downloads/downloaded files (which might also be app updates) in your notification bar.
Results; and Why You're Always Wrong and I'm Always Right
For a slightly more rigorous exploration of RAM usage for the app CMera, refer to Figure 1. Strangely, the app in question is only visible in Cached Processes, not Running Services. Both apps were open simultaneously and could be swapped in and out of activity with no lag in launch or usage.
Figure 1
For even more rigorously collected evidence, please refer to Figure 2. Upon a fresh boot, my device had 1241MB of RAM unused.
Figure 2
Following three photos (8MP, 100 quality) and a precisely 60 sec video (1080p, 20 Gbps, 192 kbps audio), my device dropped to 1187MB of unused RAM (Figure 3).
This is a difference of (1241MB - 1187MB =) 54MB. No where close to the (680MB - 197MB =) 487MB purported by BlackElvis79's screen caps
Figure 3

From the evidence gathered, the most reasonable conclusion is that BlackElvis79 is a poopyhead.

Is there a tutorial on what all these settings do? There are so many... Lol. And I don't know what half of them are...
Also on a side note when will we know when it's no longer Alpha? Will it be built into the roms or something?
I'm so excited about this... My wife has been boasting her Galaxy S4 camera for awhile.. Lol. Isn't there supposed to be a slow motion video?
*Edit* I seem to have a buginess with the video. Running PAC Man version 23.0.0. It force closes sometimes for no apparent reason.

I went thru all apps that I'd installed since installing Focal. I uninstalled them one by one and still had extremely low RAM with no running apps. I uninstalled Focal last, cuz it was the first installed, and suddenly my RAM was back to normal. I didn't think it would need that much of an explanation, my apologies, but thank you for your creative and entertaining response.
