New Hero ROM 2.73.1100.5 ? - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

Hi all,
I just received my new Hero (Belgium) today and the Build number shows 2.73.1100.5. ROM is not branded.
Is this a new release or simply related to the fact that the hero was bought in Benelux ?

can you do a nandroid backup and upload system.img and boot.img ?

I'll do that this afternoon.

does it have youtube?
I am in belgium too. Just out of curiosity, does you hero have the youtube app? Maybe they made a custom build for belgium, as there were problems with this app in belgium, or so I heard.
I bought mine ages ago in Germany

Twitter, Facebook, Flickr plugin, ...
But no specific Youtube App.
To be more specific this one comes from the Netherlands with French, Dutch, English and German language available.

Try contact Paul at modaco.com (his user name here is modaco) to see if you can send him your ROM. He is the man.

Would be cool if this would be a new one :-D whats your Kernel version?
BB. Ro.

My Hero comes with 2.73.783.5

heres a thread about another rom, too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559658
could you make a backup of your version and upload it, so the devs can use it :-D
thanks very much in advance. ro.

Apparently, it is an custom ROM for Benelux (Missing the Youtube App and probably other ones). Anyway I've done a Nandroid backup and can send the system.img and boot.img. Just need a place where I can upload it.
Cheers,

My Hero with 2.73.728.5

Toss it up on rapidshare or mediafire.com.

Sent to Drizzy and Modaco for analysis ...

Does it have the annoying bug of the bouncing keyboard??
Any SMS issue?
Perhaps is a good point to start a new custom rom. Let's see what modaco / drizzy do with that.
RGDS!

Not ready to flash, just for devs.

For all the unlucky Orange users
Hi guys!
For all the unlucky Orange users,
I have an Orange branded Hero and I was trying to update the ROM but nothing it happened! the updater displays the message:
this update is not compatible with your phone. please download the correct rom
Any ideas or Does anyone know when Orange release the new firmware update?
This just in from HTC, based on email query to their website:

[ReQ] WWE Official ROM v 1.93.421.x for South Africa Diamond

I have had my Diamond for a week now and the battery life is lacking terrible even after selecting GSM only and disabling GPRS auto attach. I have the Ver 1.37.421.3 WWE ROM with Radio 1.00.25.03.
I understand that Radio Ver 1.00.25.05 gives somewhat better battery life and the Ver 1.93.421.x ROM is also more responsive. If any body can post the ROM somewhere, I would appreciate it.
I do not want to update to a non South African ROM due to warranty issues.
Any help would be appreciated.
LOOKS LIKE YOU MAY BE STUCK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

Local website does not have the update, I have to take it in to them and all the other ROM updates will not install on my version due to the locale. Seems as if a day off from work and a drive to the agents is the only option except if I load the UK ROM with the HardSPL fix..
Thanks for replying anyway.
@adsl3g you have PM.
i have the same issue. i'd like to flash another radio at least.
All the roms are on rapidshare and that site looses its marlbes when i try to download anything. All i get all the time is "your ip address is already downloading a file". I guess it cant tell the difference between a person and a proxy server.

[APP] SGS Firmware Update Checker [BROKEN]

* UPDATE*
Looks like all the check fus methods now no longer work. Samsung now encrypt the data sent to/from the server. IF/When there is a fix I will update the site to support it.
Hello All,
With the help of Zajec5's script for checking for Samsung Galaxy S updates I have created a website that lets you check for available updates on the Samsung fus server.
The website can be found here: http://everyrandom.com/sgs/ now: http://everyrandom.com/blog/?page_id=100
*** MAJOR UPDATE ***
Please check it out!
PLEASE HELP!
I NEED: Country (Brand), ProductCode and HIDSWVER.
For example:
Australia (Optus), GT-I9000HKAOPS, I9000DTJF3/I9000OPSJF1/I9000DTJF3/I9000DTJF3
The HWSIDVER can be the current one or an old one it does not matter (correct me if I am wrong).
The easiest way to get the info is to run Kies Registry Patcher and click on the "Read" button.
Once I have a big enough collection I am going to do batch runs and have a list of current firmwares.
I am open to any improvements and Ideas. And if someone has a list already I am sorry but I did search and come up empty. Also if someone knows how to check the fus server without the HWSIDVER that would be great!
The website is always being updated as I think up new ideas.

Zajec5's Script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825351

If they sent you the wrong version, then they are at fault and should allow you to return the device for a refund or exchange it for the correct version. If you are at fault for not reading the list thoroughly enough, then your simplest recourse would be to learn to flash a custom ROM. This would allow you to install the language support you need. If that will be your direction, then read the thread HERE to learn what you need to do.
Thanks so much, no it's not my fault, it's their's but I'm now in egypt, and it's too hard for me to return it back, (also there's a few governmental problems here), most of the problems up are solved now, but I'll try to flash a custom ROM, so any suggestions on the best one that I can use with T-mobile version?

There's no such thing as a "best" one. There is a link in my signature that will point you to most of the ROMs available for this device, however. Basically, just flash different ROMs until you find something you like. Asking for the best ROM is like asking a stranger what the best pants are. It varies based on opinion.

Telstra Moto Defy's were originally marketed as Blue Tick compliant handsets which means Telstra's testing has shown that they offer superior coverage in rural areas. Basically, between the time Telstra did this testing and graded the phone as blue tick, and the time the phone actually went on sale, Moto changed the hardware spec of the phone slightly. This hardware change resulted in the Defy falling just below Blue Tick standards. Telstra was initially unaware of the hardware change and continued to market Defy as a blue tick handset. Telstra then discovered the issue and basically offered customers who had purchased a Defy up to that time to send their phone back to Motorola to have their hardware changed back to that original spec that was blue tick complaint.
So the Blue Tick upgrade improves the coverage of the Defy slightly.
Clear as mud?

Yes, correct.
In addition to this I want to add that I spoke to Motorola to get my Blue Tick upgrade, the rep told me that there is a misconception that the Blue Tick issue can be corrected with the 2.2 update, which is NOT true, as it is a Hardware issue.
He also told me that the hardware component that needs replacing to fix this issue, is also the same component responsible for the Speaker issue (which could potentially affect all Defy's sooner or later if does not have the hardware fix). So by getting the Blue Tick upgrade you are killing two birds with one stone to get better reception and prevent the Speaker issue.
Will this work on the Telstra Atrix?
I returned my defy because of severe screen locking and other strange behavior (worse after blue tick upgrade and froyo update) but the reception on the blue tick atrix is consistently 10 to 20dBm worse than the defy was....any one else had that?

It you flashed using a full SBF rather than a Fixed SBF+nandroid, then I don't think that it is not possible to go fully back to stock at the moment. You will need to wait until Telstra have an official 2.3.4 ROM for the Defy (if ever) or the Bootloader is unlocked.

I will be able to downgrade?
Hi! I have my Defy with the original ROM that comes with it (34.4.709.MB525.Movistar.en.01 - 3.4.2-107_JDNL-9) and it come with Froyo 2.2.1, I have made a Nandroid backup, and now, I want to flash my phone with this Froyo 2.2.2 ROM, but I have read that if I install non-fixed ROM's (like this one) I DON'T WILL BE ABLE TO DOWNGRADE AGAIN.
So, my question is: If I flash my Defy with this ROM (Froyo 2.2.2), I'll be able to downgrade to Froyo 2.2.1 without troubles? (for warranty purposes).
Thank you so much for reply!
And sorry if I have grammatical errors, my native language is Spanish. Bye!
Any chance someone could repost this somewhere? I have a Telstra phone, but did a one-way upgrade to T-Mob Froyo, and now can't get it to upgrade to the official Telstra Froyo. 'twould be most helpful.
Cheers.

Sorry guys, I didn't realise that the link went dead. If it happens again (since all the file sharing sites are dropping off since MU went down) send me a PM and I will reupload.
I have been informed that the repost is dead too. Can anyone suggest a host for XDA ROMs since all the Megaupload-like sites are dropping out? If I made a torrent, I don't have a machine running 24/7 that can seed it out.
If anyone needs it urgently before I new host becomes clear send me a PM and I will find a way to send it to you. Same applies if you are willing to host it.

I recommend Dropbox. You get 2 GB for signing up. If you sign up through the link in my sig, you'll get 2.25 and then there are some tweeks to extend it more.
P.S. I can host it too, as my Dropbox is 28GB
