Hello
Dunno if this is the corect place to post this thread but anyway.
I went on the official HTC Support page to download the EU ROM Upgrade.
I input my SN and this text comes out: This update is not suitable for your device.
WTF?
I have that ROM already downloaded from different page, I just wanted to try if it works now, since HTC wrote me that the SN is not recognized because when I was downloading it it was not for EU phones.
Now it is for EU phones but doesnt work anyway.
Do you think that they know which ROM I have and that is why it tells that it is not suitable for my device?
I am going to 6.5 roght now actually and I am very excited and curious.
Does anybody have similliar experniece or know what the problem is?
Thanks guys.
I have the same problem..
There were on one of the wiki-flashing-faq pages in the end of the page a list of reference S/N which you can use. I had to do that too as the german version was not available of the upgrade.
I just downloaded the WWE with the S/N supplied there on the FAQ, no probs.
abe
WOW guy`s will explain you what kind of problem i have!
When i try to regiter my blackstone in the official HTC site with my phone SN
when i write the SN and i click.. the site tell me that this is registered SN please chek your SN and try again?!!?
So what to say i don`t have words how is posible someone to use my SN when i buy the phone brand new in box never used befor?
why not using our Wiki Page

Hi all,
I just received my new Hero (Belgium) today and the Build number shows 2.73.1100.5. ROM is not branded.
Is this a new release or simply related to the fact that the hero was bought in Benelux ?
can you do a nandroid backup and upload system.img and boot.img ?
I'll do that this afternoon.
does it have youtube?
I am in belgium too. Just out of curiosity, does you hero have the youtube app? Maybe they made a custom build for belgium, as there were problems with this app in belgium, or so I heard.
I bought mine ages ago in Germany
Twitter, Facebook, Flickr plugin, ...
But no specific Youtube App.
To be more specific this one comes from the Netherlands with French, Dutch, English and German language available.
Try contact Paul at modaco.com (his user name here is modaco) to see if you can send him your ROM. He is the man.
Would be cool if this would be a new one :-D whats your Kernel version?
BB. Ro.
My Hero comes with 2.73.783.5
heres a thread about another rom, too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559658
could you make a backup of your version and upload it, so the devs can use it :-D
thanks very much in advance. ro.
Apparently, it is an custom ROM for Benelux (Missing the Youtube App and probably other ones). Anyway I've done a Nandroid backup and can send the system.img and boot.img. Just need a place where I can upload it.
Cheers,
My Hero with 2.73.728.5
Toss it up on rapidshare or mediafire.com.

Any SMS issue?
Perhaps is a good point to start a new custom rom. Let's see what modaco / drizzy do with that.

Hi guys!
For all the unlucky Orange users,
I have an Orange branded Hero and I was trying to update the ROM but nothing it happened! the updater displays the message:
this update is not compatible with your phone. please download the correct rom
Any ideas or Does anyone know when Orange release the new firmware update?
This just in from HTC, based on email query to their website:

Q-Will this release remove the ability to send SMS / MMS like in the disclaimer?
-Only certain regions, specifically the ones listed below, will have some functionality removed. For the majority of regions, there is no impact to your SMS / MMS functionality.
Q-Why is this only for developers?
-Due to the complicated nature of the update we suggest only expert users proceed. We have provided the update in as user friendly way as possible and also included the instructions in the download file but we were unable to provide the update by our usual over the air method.
Q-When can I download the upgrade for my phone?
-You can still access the download at http://htcdev.com for the upgrade for your phone, unless you are in the regions listed below.
Q-Will HTC issue an over the air (FOTA) for HTC Desire update to Gingerbread?
-No, this downloadable RUU is the official update to your phone. The update required that we conserve space by removing customizations and wallpapers, we had to release the update as a downloadable update.

I imagine a port of this for our hd2 would be a good fit being that the hd2 and desire have similar specs. Hope to see some work on this if possible...

got it!
i am in the safari to find the perfect sense rom to release....i will play with it to see what can i make..stay tuned..
i don't know which thread this should of been posted into but it's bugging me
Every guide, every person when talking about updating/flashing ROMS talks about this this tool
but they seem to forget to even explain where to officially download it from lol
i have searched the web for a official homepage for this application and cannot find anything.
there is links to all versions from 1.15 right up to 4.43 but still no official place to download from?
my question is who makes it? where does it come from? and is there some special hidden official
site with regular updates?
if not how do we know what version is the latest? there is no about dialog box there is no
information other than a version build number.
For Example a few threads here people been asking where to download
then users have posted their mediafire links and such then right at the bottom the guy said
Dude!! that's 2 years old were on version 4.43 now..
If there is no official download/author site for this app how is anyone supposed to know that
newer version there is? .. do we just wait for someone to find a new version in the wild before we update?
Even on samfirmware it has all the custom roms, stockroms, which provides you with the ROM but
no explanation on what flash utility to use or where to download it from, to flash them ROMS
i can't be the only person on here or in the world wondering where this odin tool actually comes from am i?
wow really? 112 views but no-one has replied with any questions of their own or information?
can't just be me who's curious about this flashing tool
I would think it's a proprietary program,
from Samsung and I don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Hi, thanks a lot. Where did you find it? Are you sure it is truely 401.4 ruu and not the 401.3 diffused officially by htc?
It has already been shared here. And yes it is official 401.4, as it has been shared by an HTC official on Twitter.

This RUU is working fine for me. I have it installed. CID is 34.
I tried the early 2.41.401.3 that was provided for UK!
And this one 2.41.401.4 that was provided for the rest of EU containing the fixes for NL.
AFAIK the ".3" Is the very very same build.
Just the ".4" containing some special fixes for NL region only.
And the people from UK are still on ".3". since they do not need this. So if you are on ".3" and live in the UK you can stay there.
If you know that your devices destiny was initially to receive the ".4" update since you live in NL and your device is going crazy, loosing IMEI and other stuffs and want to enter this special path again, go for it. I did it. And i live with WIPING my PHONE twice. But that is:
- My free time.
- My problem.
- Not yours.
And on top of all this i am very happy that Mr. Wheeler is offering this chance to me. Because i see some more benefits having a FULL signed STOCK RUU around. Because i owned a HTC phone in my life that i totally bricked. And there was no RUU available for it. And with this fine offer by him i have one now. Meaning i do not have to wait 4 weeks or so to get my phone recovered. I can just take this RUU and bring it back to life. Just in special circumstances.
And for me this means: "I did not need to do this, since even the ".3" worked for me in the very same manner. But i wanted to be on the originating path again, after trying the early release that UK received."
If you live in the UK and have the ".3" you will definitively not need to flash this. There is no need to flash anything. It was told that both will receive OTA in future.
And noone said you have to flash anything. Why do you stress yourselves with this?
Here some details about the ".3":
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70951262&postcount=2681
And the .4 that you find in this thread just containing the fixes for NL on top of this!
And once again: There is absolutely no force that you have to flash anything. You can just sit back and wait for OTA.
Maybe if the thread initiator would want to add more information, what this is originating of. It might prohibit questions about the question what this is for question.
AND PLEASE DO CORRECT ME ABOUT WHAT IS WRONG!
