Finally i found the solution for the unsharp tf3d background. Just take a .jpg picture and scale it to 480x800. Then rename it to "HomeBackground.img". Disable touchflo and then copy the file to your windows folder. Enable touchflo and tada!

Verry strang. I have a dutch Rom and i can even rename a picture from 2,55Mb 6104x4448 to homebackground and the picture shows fine but lose some hight en width.
But the thing is, you can get more pixels than the screen has.

Another thing i just realised, i downloaded the wrong format in te wallpaper thread. I downloaded the thumbnails and not the picture itself. So my screen was always unsharpen with this thumbnail.
Is there no way to make the background as clear as when you preview it in photos and videos? I tried 480x800, 480x640, 440x640...nothing works.
nope 440x640 has no strech issues, but i think quality degradations depends on tflo3d itself

It would be great to have full quality pic as background. The quality when looking the same picture on gallery is waaaay much better..
This is so weird that HTC would do this, they make a skin program that is supossed to be better than the WM standard today, and it is in my opinion, and give us the option to have our own background and make it so the background looks crap, why why why.
I would love the answer to this as well.

'Cos touchflo was originally developed for qvga (320x240) devices and was hastily ported to higher res phones.
In other words,

The pro of this method is same high quality of jpeg file used for home tab.
Minus are the applied modify to 1c68...manila. For new analog clocks (ex. Nisse's clocks) it was modify also same 1c68...manila.
So it dipends of u goal....
If u like to have an high quality 4bckg, then install mun_rus cab, but not install any analog clocks, because 1c68...manila is not compatible for analog clocks.
Otherwise if u don't care of any quality bckg, then u can install any analog clocks.
Thanks but we're talking about the home background's quality, not about the quality of other TF3D tab's backgrounds.
Home background's quality is poor : even an excellent jpeg in high reolsution becomes unsharp as a TF3D home's wallpaper like it was already said, that's the point
it looks like they take tf3d from diamond and put in to hd even the square's in the original background are not till bottom if you install diamond theme it will be looks the same like original theme

i wanted to create my own background-theme, and this thread was very helpful:

(you need the Background4AllTabs "5c9aa261_manila" & "4a087e41_manila" from NisseDILLIGAF)
the problem was, i had a circle in the picture, and every time it was stretched or squashed, wrong aspect ratio, not fitting well. so i did a little research myself - pixelcounting fun.
conclusion:
1. crop your original-pic (maybe 800x480) to 700x480 (the real background size, 50 px from the top and 50 px from bottom)
2. create an new empty 512x512 file
3. resize your 700x480-pic to 512x460, squash squash squash (!)
4. paste it in the empty 512x512 on the left side(!) leaving an empty unused bar of 52px on the right side
5. do all steps from the link above to convert it for manila
nothing stretched or squashed anymore. full circles.
FINAL note:
this method works only for NisseDILLIGAF's *5c9aa261_manila* that came from the diamond. it works, but it also has the blackhole problem.
bbonzz's method (look below) works for http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3068310&postcount=60 (blackhole solution).
both have no problems with nocurtains-mod. baah, too much confusion about the manila files...
Actually the background is 480x636 (image 1), because of the top curtain hole in background4alltabs.
So, to keep the aspect ratio, what you have to do is more simple:
1) cut you 480x800 (image 2) to 480x636 (image 3) keeping 52 px from bottom (bottom bar) and 112 from top (top bar+top curtain)
2) stretch to 460x512 (image 4)
3) add a 52px transparent (or whatever: black, white... It will be invisible anyway) canvas to the right (image 5)
voilà, you have a pic for Manila Editor, and once installed on Blackstone, Manila will resize it back to the original 480x636, without distortion and without shifting a single pixel. You can verify this by using the original 480x800 as background for the home tab (image 1): switching tabs, you'll notice the image is still the same: no movements, no distortions.
do you guys have a problem with a black hole at the top of the background in sound settings on the settings tab ?

i tried your version and it does not match. check the attachment.
manila stretched the logo and it ended up as an egg.
the best way is to compare the original (800x480) as homescreen-background against the manila version background in the other tabs. that was the game i was playing. after several try&errors i found it. the mapping-coordinates for the manila-background in my tf3d background4alltabs is 700x480. 50px less reserved for the top-taskbar and 50px less reserved for the softbutton-bar at the bottom.
manila stretches the left space of the 512x512 texture (512x460) to 700x480 perfectly and the aspect ratio of the original is back.
by the way, the black hole is still a problem, but doesn't bother me.
maybe it depends on which 5b9aa261 are you using: on my HD (with the "corrected and not the original 5b9aa261), using the same try&error way, i have the perfect fit with the 480x636 thing, as you see in the screenshot. Later i'll try with your attachment
ok, i forgot to mention that "nocurtains" is installed on my hd. maybe thats the reason why you got 636 px instead of 700 px.

i know, its a problem of the image-compression/conversion in manila-editor. when i have time, i add a little grain in photoshop to trick the compression-algorithm.

ok, did some tests. i don't know much about the converting process of the manila editor, but it seems it reduces a lot of bandwidth of the colorspace combined with very rude compression. so by example - gradients loose a lot of quality, instead of other more colorful pictures where the difference of every neighbor pixel is higher. maybe its the 3d-texture method htc is using, they try to save as much memory as they can. an interesting thing to notice (compare your screenshots with the original pic), there is an converting-process included in tf3d by itself, but only for the homescreen, when you choose an own picture for the homescreen background - tf3d crops it, adds grain and compression.
enable your background of the homescreen back to standard, because the manila-background is the background4alltabs now and you can't see the difference anymore if you switch from homescreen-tab to the others.

this is the version of NoCurtains that is working for me:
I ran into this "problem". I changed my background to a picture and used the bg 4 all utility to have the same background on all manila tabs, but now my backgrounds are also changed in the SMS reading panel 'threaded sms), the contacts screen and maybe some others screens too. Because this text is in black, my changed background makes the text very hard to read and it should be changed to white if possible. Does anyone know if and how you can change the text color?

The stocklite CAB allows what we were after, only the manilla tabs get the background, the ones with the white background remain.
I am running it successfully on Dutty V3
I haven't personally tried the background for ALL tabs and apps yet, but this does sound intriguing. I have spent ages playing around with an APP that changes ALL the text, pop-up, bars, scrollbars, title, background etc etc colours, in an attempt to have a completely black background and crisp white text (ie. like TF3D). However... there are limitations to this, and it is VERY hard to achieve a consistant and fuinctional look (since many colours are shared, and quite often you come across a pop-up or menu items that are the same colour).
But... if the APP you mention underlays a black background image in PocketOutlook without actually changing the preset windows colour... this may actually work.

I used it, it works really nice. 3kb cab file... so simple..
.. here are some pics as looks on my system.
I used a dull gray backgound for pictures..
You can drag and drop the elements in the position you want in order to set up order.. that works pretty fine.
Now, question is, any possibility to have bigger characters on the screen ? as this looks too small.. or at least to have them in one line only ? not white / yellow thing as on the screen ? only white and bigger - similar to windows default theme ? maybe more spaced.. but definitely larger characters.

This a simple css not a app. The fonts it's the original windows.

Here are two pictures of actual look and what i think would look better.
Is about taking out the yellow writing all together, it does not make sense to have same thing written twice, it looks cluttered.
Unless, let's say, if there is a folder which has more than one icon inside it, like for example the Tools or Settings folder. There will have to have the big white letter for title and in yellow letters, below, the content of the folder.
Size of the yellow letter seems fine for me.
As for the white letter, maybe one single size increase, like from Tahoma12 to Tahoma 13 ( and/or bolded ) so that would look closer to original windows default theme. But, not too much as it looks now, "Microsoft My Phone" is very long and would go out of the screen on the right side..
My ideea would be to have same aspect once navigating in between main theme and control panel.
"Loupe" effect, is the highlight ( or magnify lens ) that is placed on the active icon, like the effect for the clock tab, in the main theme. Or can you replace this with a underline for the title... i do not know if this is even possible..

For the code, no prob use the 2 files in attachement. For edit use notepad++ and replace the original in windows folder and softreset.
Tahoma 13 is the font of titanium? it's not a probleme for replace the font in start menu.
