solved: SPB Pocket Plus causes screen hang - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi all,
just wanted to drop some info:
SPB Pocket Plus - when installed on SD card - causes a display hang, when device becomes disconnected from active sync / 'as hard drive' .
Resolution: Install on device, not SD card.
cheers
AO

erm... Shouldn't you always install Today plugins in ram!?

"Mission Impossible"Moving Contacts From Alpine to

I have the "CompactFlashBackUpNew" - Back up file on my SD Card from My XDAIIi (Alpine). My active sync never worked and it was my only choice for backing up all my data before switching to the XDA EXEC (Universal). Is there a way of decoding and opening the contents of the "CompactFlashBackUpNew" >> >> or is it Mission Impossible!!!.....
How long did you have your alpine, and what did you tru to make active sync work.
Because if you try hard enough active sync will work. (use different version, always restart the comp after an install, and don't use any usb hubs).
If you can fix that you can easily get you contacts you your exec...
Dear Vondutch, I no longer have the ALPINE. all I have is the "CompactFlashBackUpNew" file back up of the phone on my SD card. [/quote]

DOH! Orbit standard features missing...

I was installing and customising my phone and i ran into some troubles...
i had spb pocket plus, aebuttons and wm5torage installed (amongst others but...)
wm5torage converted all my spare memory on the 2gb card to flash memory and worked, but did not convert it back when the software was deactivated.
i had the aebuttons software installed, but did not work, and i also had the spbpocketplus installed on the card
the wm5torage blipped out and renamed the storage card to storage card 2, meaning that the spbpocketplus tried to ran it could not! this completely froze the orbit and refused to run. now by the safe mode that was with spb i managed to boot up the system, uninstall the offending softwares, renamed the storage card, took it out, booted, replaced and this basically set the phone to almost factory settings (minus the theme)
but this also destroyed some of the o2 custom settings that i liked (meters on the today screen, messages, device lock...) and also, the "extra" buttons 5 and 6 used for the camera and voice dial are now gone.
from the net ive found that the basics of these are found in the start > settings > today > items, but im left with 4 options in there, tasks, calendar, date and owner info.
whats the best option for me?
i reckon simply copying all the personal data to the storage card and taking the phone to the shop, who will just replace / send back to o2 for a reprogram of the rom, or is there a simple way for me to fix?
also, i know this is a stupid easy question, but how do i backup all my contacts AND extra data (if i backup to the sim i can only hold 99 names, and i lose secondary details (address, email etc..) also, i would like to backup so that when i get the new phone, i can run the backup again and my phone is back up to date...
i have the best part of 1500 messages, and 400 extended details of contacts that i can not afford to reinput into again!
thx
anyway, used the pim backup utility! excellent prog, stored all on the storage card, moved everything of value there also... then hard resetted and all is good!
reinstalled the progs i know work, put the theme back on and everythings great!
thx guys

P3300 keeps rebooting (endless)

The other day my P3300 was somewhat slow and I decided to give it a soft reboot. Ever since it keeps on rebooting. It reaches the phase where you may enter your pincode but when it wants to load the user interface it reboots again.
Sometimes I have luck and after 5 loops or so it finally gets into full WM5.
If I remove the SD card the problem dissappears. So I expect it's the card (which never corrupt(ed/s) on me).
Another option would be it has run out of main memory. I'm a little short on that one. Would it reboot if memory was too low?
I think a hard reset or format of the SD card would solve it but that is the easy way. I want to know the reason so it won't happen again.
HTC P3300 T-mobile Compact III
2GB Sandisk microSD
WM5 and updates original as a danish virgin
I installed the Artemis SD patch
I had this a few times and the only way around it was a hard reset followed by a recovery of the phone from SPB backup.
It always seemed to follow me installing software, but never the same application so I thought it had corrupted something in the startup. You can try booting without the card installed and it should be OK, then you may be able to work out what app ./ reg entry is causing it.
HTH
I rebooted without card and it worked
i put the sd card in my cardreader and defaced some .exe's in my autorun folder (the 2527 folder). Than it worked again. Until... a few days ago it started all over again.
did the same procedure but there was no .exe anymore in the autorun folder.
I dont want to do hard reset. Do you guys have any clue if i can see in the register what it tries to run?
it's defenitely one program doing this. It boots straight into WM5 and is responsive but after let's say 3 seconds BOOM there it reboots again.
Mine did the same, deleted a few folders from the storage card Program Files\ folder, think from memory the progs causing mine to reboot were CE Converter Pro, Pocket Weather & E Wallet Pro, but as already mentioned it can be any number of different programs, I didn't delete any reg entries, just the actual folders on the memory card, it seems to be a common problem I a very serious bug as far as I'm concerned, definitely one that needs addressing.

Mass Storage Mode? (CardExport, WM5Storeage)

Hi all,
I've been trying to find a working solution which will allow me to use my D810 in Mass Storage mode.
I've tried both Card Export and WM5Storage but while they both appear promising I end up having to Soft Reset my phone whenever I attempt to use the device in Mass Storage mode.
I've tried various 'tricks' (like installing Card Export after/over WM5Storage) but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone know of any other software or solution which may work with WM6 and the D810?
Much appreciated,
~ elroy
did you install any programs on your storage card?
I installed all programs to my phone's memory (although i'm now down to 12 megs left) and haven't had any problems activating the wm5 storage.
Before activating the WM5Storage version 75, you need to:
setting- connections - usb to pc (disable the advanced network functionality)
now activate program and enjoy
PS; what version of Card Export are you using?
Thanks for your replies guys,
I have the latest version of Card Export (3.03). But the same thing happens whether I use Card Export, Wm5Storage (with OR without Card Export installed)... AND with 'Advanced Network Functionality' unchecked.
I can start the application (whichever I'm testing at the time) and attach the phone to my computer - I can even transfer files and do all the things that you'd expect to be able to do in that mode.
However, once I eject the device from the computer and deactivate Card Export (or WM5Storage) the 'X' button (top right menubar) doesn't appear for the next application that I launch, the start menu fails to open too. The only solution I'm left with is to Soft reset the phone.
This only happens immediately after using these applications (Card Export and WM5Storage) and is reproducible, without fail, repeatedly.
My works fine , but only if I activate the wm5storage before connecting to the pc

Program installation failures.

This is an update on my previous topic:corrupt installations of programs.
(see below)
I also can't use the internet anymore, either way via connection with active sync by usb cable or wireless with WiFi mode. It does however states that a connection has been made, but when starting up Internet Explorer i don't get for example googles homepage.
When insterted in my desktop, active sync also replies it cannot sync properly. And i get a warning on the p3300 screen saying: could not get an ip adress or something like it.
See below the problem of my first topic:
Hi,
Could anybody provide help for me? My P3300 doesn't seem to be able to install any programs / games anymore?!? What to do, has anybody had the same experience?
Once I install a program from my desktop PC to the P3300 or when I copy the CAB-file straight to the P3300, I get the standard installation screen: "choose a location.....Device, Storage Card or Bluetooth...blablabla"
But when I tap either one, let's say Storage Card, the thing is loading and a 2 seconds later I get the same screen, but with the message: "pocketxpdf.sf.net pocketxpdf cannot be installed. To try installing again to a different location, choose a location: Device, Storagecard or Bluetooth."
How is this possible all of a sudden? Never had problems...there is enough storage space, I've never updated the ROM, just a soft-reset doesn't work either. I don't want to do a hard-reset yet until I know a way to export my Contacts so I don't have to bring them in manually again after a possible hard-reset. (since i cannot install the program EasyHelper anymore...)
Anyone have any clue, what could be wrong?
My Specs:

FIXED!!!!
I fixed it!
I have no idea how, but I can install programs again. And I can connect via wLan (WiFi) and use the internet again.
What I did was: I used Sprite Backup Software for PPC on my laptop which I used a couple months ago to make a backup. I restored this backup to the phone. After, everything worked again and I could install PocketXPDF 0.5.0 finally with success.
Only side-affect: I lost recent made contacts and recently made/received SMS text messages. I think Sprite also overwrote these files with the older ones I had still on my laptop.
So,people, you see: It's always usefull to have a backup of your devices!
