I have now lost both of the stylus(es) that came with the phone. I suppose they come out when I pull the phone out of my case. Anyone else have this problem? I got a universal pouch and the phone was in there pretty snug. Enough so that it would not come out easily.
Now I have no stylus and am afraid to replace it for fear of it happening again. Is this common or am I doing something wrong??
What version of TP2 do you have?
I heard something similar regarding the american versions, as they do not have the magnetic stuff as the original Europe version.

It's looking to be quite the pain tracking down any quality T-Mobile TP2 accessories and OEM stuff since our version is unique compared to all the others. Things like the stylus, screen protectors, cradles, cases, etc. all need to be designed slightly differently for us and it seems like manufacturers are not very eager to do so at the moment. Hopefully the launching of Sprint and ATT TP2s will spur them on.
Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but know that I share your frustration!
I have no idea why they got rid of the magnetic stylus, which I thought was a fantastic feature. But I do have a trick for keeping them in, I used it on my mogul. Just bend the stylus a bit, it still feels straight in the hand, but it will say in much much better.

Thanks. I got my screen protector (best I have seen yet, guaranteed for life) from "www.clearprotector.com" and its not a regular plastic one. They have to be soaked in water & soap b4 they get put on if this helps at all and the cover I got from here> "http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150365816665&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT" its a little pricey but IMHO its worth it...Tj
My stylus (neither one) was magnetic. One poster says to bend it??? Does it still go in?? I dont quite follow.
Does anyone else have the smae problem I do ? Losing the stylus when pulling out from the case? Any other ideas to keep it in better? Thanks.

If you bend it just a very slight amount, it still goes in fine and even looks straight, it just fits tighter in its cavity. Just put the stylus between your thumbs and push a very slight amount. Then put it back in the phone and see if its more difficult to pull out. If not, pull it back out and push a little harder with your thumbs. Lather, rinse, repeat until satisfied with the fit.

Unless it pulls itself into place when you're close to inserting it, it's not magnetic.. Just friction.

Hi Guys,
Ok...as a testament to how much I use this device (despite a lot of my apps, like yours not being upward WM5 compatible...patiently waiting too), and NOT as a testament to how careless I am, I must admit that I have now as of tonight lost BOTH styli, that came with it.
So please, give me credit for using a screen protector and a retrofitted case (i DO care for my JasJar like it was a Furby!), and reccomend a decent replacement (3rd party) styli that works with it?
Thanks!
And I hope that the replacement 3rd party styli will have much better fit.
It' s a miracle I have not lost mine yet. Give the JJ a good shake and off the stylus goes flying.
Ha ha. I must agree with you both. I have been wondering why my JJ stylus was so easily taken in and out.
I have dropped the stylus many times (luckily it fell into the case) when I pulled it out from the case (if the JJ stylus slot side came in first to the case when its inserted). I changed the order inserting it to the case already, now with the stylus slot facing up, but it will not help preventing such an accident like yours, ROM_quest.
We're better be careful with this.

Hmm... my Jasjar stylus doesn't seem to be terribly loose... I don't think it's ever fallen out when I didn't want it to. I just sat here and tried to shake it out and I wasn't able to. Maybe there's a problem with your device?
Brett
Hi Guys,
An update to my original post.
I found my style (yay!) on the floor of my vehicle.
FYI though, besides the backorder Expansys replacement Styli option, Boxwave has a multi-tool-stylus with pen made for the JasJar in stock.
Google Boxwave if you have a need for a replacement stylus...hopefully I can hold on to my (loose-fitting) one now that I have it back.
Cheers,
-Rom
OK, seeing as I lost one in the first week and I've come close to losing the other about four times now, does anyone know of replacements that not only fit properly, but also are multi-purpose? You know the kind of thing: Stylus, pen, laser rifle, ear-cleaner, emergancy prosthetic and remover of stones from horseshoes.
Or I could just get plain old http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7861.htm

Got some from Boxwave last week.
Compared to the original stylus, their model is a tighter fit
http://www.boxwave.com/products/styraballpointpen/styra-ballpoint-pen-stylus-i-mate-jasjar_723.htm
Sounds perfect, thanks. I think the stylus NEEDS to be a tighter fit!
What do you rate the chances of ink leaking?
I had a styra for my pda2k. It got pretty beat up, stepped on. There were gouges in the metal but it never leakes. This one seems like it's the same quality.
Just an FYI, you may want to remove the stylus before removing the back battery cover. I'm sure some of you have heard there are a number of us Rhoduim owners found that out the hard way. It's written in the manual, this should be done before removing the back battery cover. What results from you not doing this is the battery cover get just the slightest little bend on the side the stylus inserts, then it will never fit the same.
I am still skeptical this is the reason why, but it really doesn't matter what I think at this moment. I know myself and a few others had to modify ours to get it to fit like its suppose to and there are others this didn't happen to. So just to let you know, better to be safe than sorry. Fortunately, my seller from overseas is sending me a new one (back battery cover). Hope for the best and enjoy this very cool device.
Thanks for the nice tip.
I'll keep this in mind.
FWIW: It appears the back of the T-Mo USA version is different from the ones that people are reporting problems with...I've taken mine off several times (with stylus in place) and I can't see where the cover tabs would be affected by the stylus...
Additionally, the T-Mo USA manual makes no mention of stylus removal prior to cover removal.
I've taken mine off 2-3 times with the TMO TP2 and have no problems with the stylus being in there.

I agree, I looked and studied where the stylus inserts in the back and I can't see where the stylus would have any effect on the removal of the back battery cover. But my back cover did need some modifying to fit properly again. It has a very slight bend on the side where the stylus inserts (just barely noticeable).
I didn't know it wasn't mentioned in the T-moe's manual. I was just trying to give y'all a heads up. I have never been one to open up the manual first, before taking off the battery door to install the battery. I guess now I know I should.

Been using the device for a month to date, hasn't been an issue for me.
I've only removed my battery cover around 8 times just to show iphone users what their phone can't do.
Just saw the hardware tour video of the T.Mobile Touch Pro2 and the casing design is very different from European/Asian HTC Touch Pro2 version, and from the video, it doesn't look like one needs to remove the stylus before removing the cover on the T.Mobile version.
On my Asian version, the stylus goes through an opening in the middle of the side of the removable back cover (on T.Mobile version, there is no opening), so while it may not be necessary to remove the stylus to take off the cover, it is advisable when replacing the cover to take it out beforehand.
The text in the user manual could have been referring to the European/Asian version, and was ported to T.Mobile without editing.
Yea, I see that now. I just didn't want these guys to have to go through the crap I had to go through with a brand new high dollar device.
Mods you can delete or close this thread if you like.
It's good to discuss these things sometimes. I much prefer the T.Mobile version - it has a better casing design than the European/Asian one, especially with the reset button.
are you joking?
The T-Mobile USA version looks horrid in comparison to the svelt european version.
They even crippled the software with the horrid Touchflo remix.
If I had to have the TP2 in that black USA flavour I simply wouldn't have bought it, especially with the re-assigned keyboard. I do like the idea of a reset button though.

lol take the trolling elsewhere, then take a look what AT&T did to their version.
And if you're about to get your brand new TP2, for goodness sake, DO NOT let the people at the store put the battery in the phone. My back cover is constantly falling off now thanks to an overzealous employee 'helping' me with my phone.

No, but they should have kept the chrome bezel. It was beautiful!
Soo, when it's damaged, the stylus just inserts and removes very tough at the beginning??? Correct? I haven't taken my stylus out till reading this thread, lol, and this stylus if freakin hard to remove. So, that means the back cover ****ed up my phone? lol, dam.
The T-Mobile employee put in the SIM and battery for me, I never knew about this. Dammit. Gotta take it back I guess. But that is what you guys experience when it's "damaged"? I'm getting this correct?
(And hello guys, I just got it yesterday, I'll be contributing to the community greatly, I think you guys will like me )

Exactly what happened to me. Accept I took off the back battery cover myself and then the battery cover was misaligned and would stay on correctly.

Hmm. Well, the stylus is basically un-removable, unless you got fingernails and you pry it, lol.
I'll be returning it for a new one, I guess. And I'm not letting T-Mo employees touch it this time
So I'm, guessing this feature utilizes a reed switch. Is it polarized? The reason i ask is, I got a cheap knock off of the Asus case. The cover app did not work. So I took a magnet and moved it around on the front of the phone. Still did not work. Dropped the magnet and when I picked it up and tried again, it worked. I then turned the magnet around so the other side was facing the phone, again it didn't work. With that knowledge, I tried putting the front of the case up to the phone. It worked, the circle app came on. I opened up up the case and moved the part that SHOULD be against the front of the phone around and nothing.
Obviously on my phone it is polarized. Should it be? If the authentic Asus case is of good quality I don't mind spending 40 bucks on one but I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the phone first.

Buy the official one. I got it for free, but I would happily pay for it. It's worth it.
A lot of third party cases tend to fail with these features. They seem to just throw it together as fast as possible and don't test it properly to make sure it actually works.
Yeah, as long as I can determine that nothing is wrong with the phone I will. But should a reed switch only work with one side of a magnet?
Also, what is the quality of the authentic? Is it genuine leather? Does it seem like something that will hold up well?

The plastic that covers the circle feels kind of cheap, but everything else feels solid. No idea if it's real leather, doesn't really seem like it, but I could be wrong.
Thanks Harfainx. I just ordered one. I hope the polarization on the reed switch is normal and not a defect.

You definitely don`t have a reed switch in the phone, it will be a hall effect switch which will switch whenever a magnet comes close enough to trip it. N or S pole irrelevant in operation, its pure proximity. :good:
Thanks for that information. I've never heard of a hall effect switch, just assumed it was a reed switch since it's activated by a magnet.
So maybe something is defective with mine then. Like I said, holding the front of the case up to the screen activates it, but the back side, that should be against the screen doesn't. Guess I'll just have to wait till the authentic case arrives and see what happens. Off now to read up on hall effect switches.
Sorry for not following up on this sooner. My dog died last week and it's been pretty tough for me.
Got the original and it works perfectly. The knock off worked if I held the front of it up to the screen. So it seems the switch is polarized and it was put in backwards in the cheap one.
Quality isn't bad. And the tempered glass screen protector fits perfect with it. I've had a few people who saw it and commented on how cool the circle thing is. Well worth the 40 bucks.
Hello world.
It baffles my mind how could cheap ebay styluses get good reviews, the 3 USD or lower ones. Yeah, on Amazon.com (they are sold in bulk) they get 4 star review. The thing is I used to order a few of those for my iPad and Android phone a couple of years back and the result was it doesn't even register on my devices. They were simply junks, or maybe I did something wrong? Is it because the protective film?
What stylus would you recommend for decent note taking on my Huawei G7 phone?
What price range am I looking at? Would those el cheapo ones work?
Thanks
I also want some advises on the pad/phone stylus. Operating my phone with my finger will get the screen dirty.
But where to settle your stylus pen down? Your phone doesn't even have a space to put it in.
