Has anyone heard anything about TomTom on the HD? After watching the french review and her saying it doesnt work, is that because the tomtom 7 on the diamond is locked to the diamond?
I suppose we will never know until someone gets there hand on one?
And I wonder if it is because of applications made for VGA device is having problem on the 800x480 screen.
That may be the issue, however so far I have never seen the Diamond having any problems showing QVGA apps either it just blows them up. But because the aspect ratio is no longer 4:3 this may be an issue --- I can not image that HTC lets this be an issue though since hardly any application is made to suit WVGA.
There are 2 editions of TomTom (QVGA and VGA) as far as I know. The samsung omnia has also a different aspect ratio and the QVGA version works perfect. So I think the VGA version will work also on the Touch HD without any problems.
I have a Toshiba G900 (WVGA Display, 800x480) and I can confirm that TomTom works without problems on non standard screen resolutions.
This has also been confirmed by people with xperia's. It works without a problem!
Would TomTom 6 work on the HD?TomTom6 has worked fine on my HTC Universal, and its resolution is also different to the diamond. Or are there other problems to get TomTom6 work on the HD, like the internal GPS?
TomTom 6 works without any problems.
tomtom for htc diamond
i have tested both the tomtom 6 and tomtom 7 working on on the HTC diamond. It works a treat. Copilot 7 live also works well but the software is a lot older and doesnt pickup postcodes as well as tomtom.
Any more opinions as to screen compatibilty with popular software, like SB Pocket Plus and all the main apps?
Thanks!
Could anybody upload a screenshot picture of TomTom working on a WVGA Display (800x480)?

I also would be MOST interested in this as TomTom will be what I put this device to most (when I get it!).
Cheers!

what do you mean "locked to the diamond"? I used both TomTom 6 and 7 for months on my VX8600
TomTom 7.451 is ok (7.9 ko) but keyboard is very little...
Currently I'm running TomTom 7 on my Touch Pro with maps for version 6.75. Working perfectly. TT 7 was installed from a cab file available on this forum which was extracted from Diamond. Will this same version of TT7 will work on HD with same maps (version 6.75)? I ma not sure what is the extended version of this TomTom i.e., it is 7 but is it 7.45 or 7.9 .... don't know. Tried to find it but couldn't find any such detail. Cab file was taken from Diamond forum on this site.
I run TT 7.910.9185 with WCE map 725.1906 and agree that the street names are too small to read in traffic, behind the wheel. The onscreen keyboard however is just fine, there are two settings small and large.
I have TTN7 installed on my Touch HD, and have inserted the micro sd card from my Polaris that had TTN7 running with purchased v7 (go520) map from TomTom.
I have followed the start up process and when I get to the "select a map" screen, it shows the "Manchester" map I got as a freebie and the "UK & ROI" map I purchased & used on my Polaris. However, when I select either map, TTN7 just closes down. Any suggestions please.
The maps you purchased have been activated for your Polaris only, according to your device ID.
Sorry, but where I find the 7.910 Vga version that see my Htc HD in Tomtom Home?
Thankyou IceMatrix
P.S. Can admin delete the post in software thread
Hello.
I'm looking for some navigation software for my Blackstone.
It would be great if the phone was fully supported i.e fullscreen 800X480.
Maps have to cover Australia and also New Zealand if possible.
Thanks in advance.
Frederik
IGO8 is the best!
or you can try Garmin
Hi,if you look all the official website, no navigation software are available for our Blackstone for the moment ( Navigon,Nav N go etc ... ) . After some cooked versions works but they are not really official ....

I like IGO, but I often got the issue that it leads me to road closed to car' traffic (or limited to residents only). Can be a real disturbance...
Alright. So.. which of these "cooked" versions is the best for Australia (and New Zealand?)
For your notice, Route 66 fully supports Blackstone(acc. to their website), but the price is sky high - 179,95$.
@Prerna
It is solved and works without problems, but it is necessary to make some modifications in sys.txt.
Igo 8 And TomTom
I have igo8 and TomTom 7 on my HD and i am happy with them both, they both look great on the big screen, but i think Igo 8 looks and works the better of the two, easy to instal and easy to use, very nice piece of software
Hope this helps
take a look at this post especially covering navigation in Australia:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3287626&postcount=26
Okay. But since none of these programs supports the WVGA screen, where can I find "skins" for this resolution?
And TomTom 7 isn't official yet?
iGO 8 work on Gurjon skin with all resolution...

What GPS software do you use, and why?
why not Sygic Mobile 2009 ? Works good for me.
Well, I've read that iGo and Tom Tom are the best, but here I wanna see which one do people use... Even if it's not on of those two...
I've tried both and use tomtom as it is better at route planning.
Igo looks nicer though.
i'll gonna install IGO to see how its works.
Sygic looks better then TOMTOM, but TOMTOM is more reliable on the arrival time. (excuse me for my poor English)
For me, i think tom tom is beter
im using igo. i dont know, but it seems to me igo's better in australia
I have both
need to know..
The answer is in the following topics, as both are good NAV tools..
1. Are you into 3D, tweaks, setting up or want an installation once and for all?
2. Do you travel a lot, or want it around home in one or two countries?
3. What are you going to run it on? Touch HD?
4. is TTS important or not ? (text to voice)
Here is my experiance with both...
1. iGO is skinnable, and allows many changes by the user. If you are not into it, than TomTom is more likely to be the one for you. Simple, and to the point.
2. If you tarvel to exotic locations you will soon find out TomTom does not cover the globe as good as iGO. If you travel in urban areas in EU or USA, it makes no difference what you choose.
3. iGO is a memory hog. Even with 100MB free RAm you may ancounter 'out of memory' situations with iGO. TomTom is lean on memory.
4. TTS may not work on touch HD if you try the Leo Manila 2.5 as they collide somehow. Not sure why, but I had to disable T3FD on some roms in order to make TTS work.
So, as you see, it depends what are the needs. Personally I like iGO better because it can become a real 3D navigation tool, with terrain , buildings, etc.. and it is beautiful. I did not find any major difference navigating with TomTom and iGO as far as navigation results, as both get to run the same maps from the same houses.. So I vote iGO because I like it, not because it is better. Answer yourself the questions, and you will get an idea. Both are good options, and not the only ones you can have..
i`m 50/50 on this subject because i can use 1000`s of custom generated poi`s in tomtom that i use for work & igo seems to have a limit unless i put them into seperate catagoreies which is time consuming.
Igo coupled with hypergps (TMC) works well for me but have not manged to work out how to get this working on tomtom, (might not be possible.
so if i had to choose it would be tomtom as it`s faster & not as hungry on system stuff.
Igo
I have Igo8 and work perfekt

Will try both, but I'll hold on iGo...
Best regards
I can recommend copilot 8, this is the market leader for smartphone navigation anyway and so far has chosen better routes than tomtom 7 used to for me and has a better display as well as being much cheaper as the latest version is a third the price of the previous version or tomtom. Works fine on L26 windows 6.5 rom with manilla 2.5 on the HD too.
HTC will be preinstalling copilot on the new HTC Leo (HD2)..

Hi,same thing , since i use copilot v8 , tomtom and others are long forgotten ...
I use NDrive, simple, very fast, flexible.
My 4 experiences:
Tomtom:
+: It's the best for routing. Good POIs. I used it in 4 countries in Europe without ANY problem.
-: It's outdated and very simple.
IGO
+ Very beautifull, shows lots of information, skinable.
- Unestable, needs lots of memory, bad routing, bad POIs.
Sigyc Drive
+ Like tomtom but more updated.
- worse routing than Tomtom.
Ndrive
+ Simple and very clear interface on navitation. Moves VERY soft.
- VERY simple. Shows very little information.
(Sorry for my english)

Unstable? in what way? I've never had any issues, even after modding the **** out of it and I aint no real pro dev..
Might I add that iGo8 is extremely customizable, examples > http://artwork-igo8.blogspot.com/
My current skin > http://artwork-igo8.blogspot.com/search/label/Kikker Skin
By far the best navigation software I've ever used! properly because of the open system, lot of internet sources for speedcamera's and POI's and modifications.
Its does use a lot of memory, especially when using NASA demographic files, buildings and so on..
P.S. I do NOT work for iGo
I used tomtom, iGuidance and sometimes Destinator
Hi Guys,
I know the Touch and IGO8 have been done to death, as my head is still spinning.
However, a lot of what I have read is a number of months old, and when there werent 800x480 skins, old data files, etc.
So, a few basic questions, from what I have read.
I gather there are 'versions' of IGO8 available, as in PDA, PNA, etc.
Which type is best tor the Touch HD?
Also, there is talk of having the IGO8 directory, and the 2577 directory on the SD card, inserting it, and let it do it's thing. Is this the best way? or Manual.
I also gather, that later versions of IGO8 had a data.zip/branding.zip file that 'knew' about the Touch HD.
I am assuming, that when you install IGO8, it uses the basic SYS.TXT file, and then modifies, or uses separately, details of the device found in BRANDING.ZIP and DAT.ZIP
So, if so, how well does it pick up the Touch HD.
Also, a review I read on IGO8 said that when it was installing, it picked up most of the contacts exactly, and he only had to modify a few. So, the basic program recodnised it was on a phone, or there is a phone edition of IGO8.
So, this would indicate that when I go to SEARCH, I should get the option to navigate to a contact.
So, to my problem
I ahve installed IGO8.3.4.102680 using the auto install method. It never found or uses contacts.
I have a couple of skins in the skin directory (Dimka_1.1.25.2_(a)_-_TomSoft_HD_(800x480_a_480x800)_+_(240x400_a_400x240) & diMkaspecter1.1.25_HD.zip), both have 800x480 and 480x800 directories, but only TomSoft ever shows in the list of skins available to change to.
So, now that branding and data are supposed to have Touch HD support, and IGO8 should use phone contacts, and I should be able to change skins, and we shouldnt have to do so much modification to SYS.TXT for installation,
What is the latest best version to use, should it be PNA or PDA, should it be auto or manual uinstall, and whats the best procedure??
Thanks for hanging in there, if you have made it this far !!!

Hi. Can someone tell me which version of tomtom navigator 7 is best suited for a Touch HD Blackstone please. I am currently using TTN 7.915.9196 which is working but the display is not correctly sized.
Thanks
I use 910.9185, works nice, fullscreen WVGA
Running PocketPC 7.916(9289) looks great in portrait and landscape.
Thanks for the replies. I have tried both your suggestions but have the same results. Maybe I'm being fussy because tomtom is working fine on my touch hd with TTN 7.915.9196, it's just that the car symbol and compass are very small compared to when I had tomtom on my tytn ii, in fact the compass symbol is illegible.
i'm using ttn7.917 (9186) without issue
7.910.9185 is what I am using. Ive tried the other newer versions but I like this version better
Hi Guys
Can I jump on the band wagon, I am sure i have seen a message like this before ..
I love tomtom, is there a way to keep navigating while the screen is off
it seems as soon as the screen goes off so does the gps
I would love to be able to use it while out on my motorcycle, the headphones keep the directions comming and the phone in my pocket
thanks for any help
