I'm just wondering is there anyway that we can make the GPS cold start everytime instead of hot start??
thanks a lot.

Hi to all and thanks for the great tips on this forum. We've been doing a lot of pocketpc development but are new to XDAs.
As most of you would know the new ROM allows the XDA to keep it's connection alive - well, as alive as GPRS will allow it to whilst still letting the screen etc go to sleep.
Does anyone know exactly what it is doing when it goes to sleep as it seems to be doing more than just turning the screen off as we can't seem to turn it back on with the normal calls?
Cheers

Hi all,
I just installed the 4.02 Touch ROM on my Artemis. I also installed PhoneAlarm 1.67 to handle profile changes.
Now I have a problem that is driving me nuts!
The screen is set to go to sleep in 2 minutes in the settings.
The screen DOES go to sleep after two minutes but wakes up by itself almost immediately thereafter.
The flashing on and off of the bright screen at night is driving me crazy, not to mention the battery drain.
How do I KEEP the screen off permanently till I press the power key and not until then as was happening with WM5 which I had earlier before upgrading to this Touch ROM?

But as I said, I am going crazy!
Any Help anyone?
I really am breaking my head over this.
Hope I do not have to dispose of the phone.
I'd rather have a good night's sleep.
I can't turn the phone off since my profession is such that I may get important calls at any time.
Hope someone on here can help. I use a topo map software called "Memory Map" when i go out walking, hiking. While my TP2 was running 6.1 the app worked fine. However, since i put 6.5 (Energy Rom) onto the phone, i've run into a problem.
As long as the screen is turned on, the gps is working and tracking just fine. But as soon as the screen is turned off, or goes to ''standby', the GPS also seems to go to sleep. I turn the screen back on, and after a couple of seconds, the GPS also kicks back in and starts tracking again.
99% certain its a 6.5 issue. Memory map has worked fine for the last 2 years on my old beater QTEK 9100, and was working on the TP2 when it was 6.1. By 'working', i mean i could fire up the app, put the phone in my pocket, whip it out 1/2 hour later and the map would show where i had walked and where i was now.
I don't have that now. If i pull the phone out and turn on the screen, the 'track' jumps from where i last had the screen on to where i am now. As i said, the GPS seems to have to gone to sleep with the screen.
Any ideas, settings i might need to look for?
Thanks.
Try gpstweaker, a gps power management utility, or marathon, a gps tracker with power management capabilities.

Thanks, i'll look at those.
Hello, any help much appreciated.
When I use anything like 3G or GPS my Desire phone heats up quickly and the battery goes to 0% and shuts down. If I put on recharge it goes back to 100% in minutes. It will stay as normal as long as I don't use things like 3g and GPs.
Any ideas.
Thanks in advance.

is your phone rooted?
are you using a custom rom?
Neither, has been fine for 2 years only recent - I would not know how to fiddle with ROMS etc!! wi-fi is fine just 3g and gps make it freak out after heating up

Could be a motherboard problem. The GPS chip could be malfunctioning.
Can anyone confirm random phone reboots while using GPS for long time? I experience it regulary. After and hour and half or two hours of using GPS (either in car for navigation, charging/not charging) or on bike for tracking (screen off) with endomondo).
I'm going slightly mad because of this. I thought initially that the phone gets overheated with charger, but it reboots even with screen off, not charging). My other guess was the navigation application, but it happens also with sports trackers (endomondo, strava). So definitely it must be a problem of GPS driver or hardware. I tried various ROMs, CM10 or .211 or .96 ports, but it happens all the time.
Does anyone have more info or in the best case a solution for this? Thanks a lot!
I gave it some more thoughts. I use GPS Status with permanent notification with status details constantly being updated. I uninstalled it today, maybe this was the issue. Please, can anyone confirm that GPS Status is the cause of problems or that GPS Status is working fine even for few hours of gps activity? Thanks
same problem
Hi,
i have two xperia ion with the same problem. When i use GPS for tracking on my bicycle with locusmaps or oruxmaps it alway reboots after a while, it works maybe 30 minutes or one hour but then it reboots. The same with Navigon navigation, always reboot after about 30 minutes. Both smartphones the same problem. Running on Android 4.1.2, i downgraded the phone to ics 4.0.4 but the problem was still the same.
Did you solve that problem??
Thanks
Peter
