Stop Opera Rotating - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Can someone help me I hope?
I've tried installing Flip it & Changescreen with a whole host of settings.
I've tried Registry settings
I've tried disabling G-Sensor
Looked in Opera Settings, and advanced settings
...but for the life of me I cant stop Opera from rotating to Landscape mode.
Its driving me insane. I found reference to a "stop opera rotating" cab but cant find where its hosted.
Its not the worst thing to live with in the world but having my page stuck upsidedown or in landcape because the rotation is buggy is pretty useless to me.
Anyone help?

I wouldn't mind this too.
I sometimes read lying on my side in bed - the auto-rotate makes this infuriating.

MOD EDIT
Moved this thread out of general discussion into Themes, Applications and Software forum

my advice would be to hold the phone in
one position

In Flip-It preferences add Opera.exe (or opera9.exe) to the program list and check only the 0 degree box.

What kind of registry settings have you tried?
Have you checked if Opera is listed here: HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList\ ?
If it is, remove it and soft-reset. Stopped rotation for me...

Shortcuts on Settings tab

How can I change the shortcuts that appear on the TouchFlo 3D Settings tab?
Endless searching on xda-developers and I can't find it, except for hints that it's hidden in some Diamond cab files people have created.
I want to remove some infrequently used settings (eg. "Mail Setup") and add others (eg. Power).
I've seen threads on how to add/change the Programs shortcuts to do this, but not to change the actual Settings tab.
Thanks.
(Reposted from General Discussion Q&A forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550183&goto=newpost; realised this was a better forum as it may be Rhodium-/Manila-specific.)
Hmm you'd probably have to find the _manilla file that displays the settings tab and edit it. This may be a difficult task because there is a ton of _manilla files in the windows folder!
I have managed to remove Mail Setup by editing the registry
\HKCU\Software\Htc\Manila\
"IsShowEmailSetup" = 0
Thanks. Works nicely for that silly Email shortcut, but there are several others I'd like to kill (I really don't change my wallpaper, tabs, 'My Contact Card', or G-Sensor that much HTC!) and more I'd like to add in from the "All Settings" list.
It's a start though, appreciate the tweak.
i just decided to hide the settings tab altogether! totally a waste of space.
How did you hide the settings tab completely? I've been looking to try and do this. it is locked and not editable in my customize tabs. Also I've looked through the manila reg edit and still can't find a binary value that hides settings tab

Simple, install advanced config 3.3 and you can add or remove items from the settings tab.

is it possible to just do a reg edit of this. I hate installing programs I will only use for one purpose and uninstalling them.
in addition, to that ,advance config requires newer framenet which I don't want to install either. (also working off vista, which does not support activesync).
nevermind, I figured it out... but hiding the settings tab renders the whole thing unusable. I just wanted to hide the tab, but not hide the functionality (through start menu).
for those who want to know its as follows:
HKCU\software\htc\manila\
"Manila://settings.page.hidden" = 1

notification manager + Finger Menus

I found these 4 applications on EnergyROM WM 6.5 (under Utilities folder)
I have been playing around with them, but I got no clue what are they for and how to use them....I have made a search on this forum but found not relevant links...
Here are the four appls:
Notifcation Manager ON
Notifcation Manager OFF
Finger Menus OFF
Finger Menus ON
Can please someone share with me?
Thank you
Saulo
corrections: these 4 apps are under
main desktop > Utilitities > Tweaks
and the ROM is EnergyROM WM 6.5
I have tried to use the search functions in this site, but nothing relevant I can get.
Can somebody share his suggestions?
Thanks
Saulo
Why dont you ask at the rom thread those questions or use the Google?
You have opened three new threads regarding EnergyROM and comparing it with WM6.1 programs or functions, if you are not happy go back to WM6.1
for 3 reasons I made this post:
(by the way I like WM6.5, I just want to get the most from it! I have no regret to move to 6.5 from 6.1)
1st reason: because I have ALREADY posted this question on EnergyROM thread, 3 weeks ago, but they get new posts so frequently that my question got completely unnoticed and un-answered
2nd by googling or using internal search function I found not relevant explanation of what Notification Manager is
3rd I have try to toggle NOTIFICATION MANAGER but I can feel or see any changed behaviour in my Touch phone..
Can anybody else give me a hint?
Thanks
Saulo
I've got the same rom and the same question, it toggled it on device soft resets. Then nothing?
Dear A1Gp.
Please can you expand? I have enabled Notification Manager (and to apply it it required a soft reset, by the way)
After this soft reset I still see no changes!
If now I press the red button on main page (soft reset) it immediately resets the system, JUST AS BEFORE... I get no notification.
Thanks and waiting
Saulo
I would like to know too!

"Notification manager" is the black screen that show you any notifications (like Miss call, SMS, etc.) when you tap on the top taskbar.
"Finger Menus" is the finger friendly menu in Manila. If you off it, you'll get the standard (smaller but faster) menu. (Tried to use "File Explorer" and click on the menu to see the differences.)
Not using Energy ROM so can't show you screen shots
Hope this help

Howto Disable Manila/Sense menu?

It's been discussed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561591
jolas says:
Using a registry editor, make the following change:
HKLM/SYSTEM/GWE/Menu/CUIHandler and set
0 = Windows default
1 = HTC Menu
Click to collapse
the problem is the registry key does not work for me while using htc sense. I still have the slow menu. Can anyone tell me more about this?
Justrome0, are you trying to change the menus that pop up inside sense? For example, menus in each of the manila tabs? If so, to my knowledge that is not possible. The reg edit only works to switch between WM or HTC menus outside of sense.
Thanks sean... yeah i was wondering if that is possible .... i searched a lot and it seems it's not possible, it seems applications can override the menu they will use regardless of the operating system default.
I was curious tho if there's any way to tweak that menu to appear faster. The animation is really slow on blackstone. Probably works fine on HD2 but not here ... maybe the duration can be changed to like 0 or 1 frames.
I hope I'm not confusing what you're trying to do. If you're using the HTC menus outside of manila in other applications then there certainly is a way to speed them up, and it's essentially a two part tweak. With a registry editor go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMenus and look for three things, EnableVsync, AnimationRadio Portrait and AnimationRadio Landscape. Start with EnableVSync and set its decimal value to 0. This will allow the animation of the menu to scroll up or spread out twice as fast. Next look at both AnimationRadio settings. The AnimationRadio controls how fast the animation of the menu scrolls up or spreads out. By default their decimal setting is 16. The higher you set the animation speed the less animation you get, but the faster the menu opens. Traditionally I set each decimal value to 64, but you might want to play with different settings to see what works best for you. You may just try setting Vsync to 0 first and see if that is fast enough. Keep in mind that the animation radio tweak may not work consistently in some programs. For example, a couple of menus in my registry editor pop up with animation some do not. For me, however, that is the only program that does that. Hope that helps.
Thanks a lot for info sean, unfortunately it does not work for me.. I either hate it so much that I can't see the difference or there's actually no difference .
VSync was already 0 for me probably changed by the cook.
Nevermind tho ... i found a titanium theme that looks like HTC Sense and it's pretty nice.
If you want to check it out it's here.

Has some issues but at least it's responsive.
I have an HTC HD2 phone running stock Windows 6.5 ROM. I have installed the flash lite application and downloaded some freeware flash lite games.
The games run perfectly however one particular game I play requires me to keep the screen pressed. But when I do this the flash pop up menu is displayed (pause, play, loop etc). Is there a way of disabling the menus you have mentioned above to stop them from popping up, maybe a reg tweak or something?
Appreciate your help.

Since you didn't say which ROM you were using, I'm going to assume you're on the stock one with TF3D. Go here to turn it off: Start > Settings > System > G-Sensor.

im using the stock sprint rom with the 6.5 upgrade. Ive disabled touchflow and use spb mobile shell. Ive gone into start settings system g sensor but there is only a option to calibrate the g sensor nowhere do i see any other options for anything. I dont think there are any differences wether i access the setting through touch flo. Maybe your rom adds that setting. Thanks for the reply and trying to help.
Delete the apps of your choice (in this case Opera) from the White List in the registry to prevent G-Sensor rotation. White List location is:
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList
If registry edits scare you, you can install the G-Config app. This simple program just edits the registry through a user-friendly UI.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487991
Open G-Config, you should see Opera on the list of Rotated Apps. Select and hold on Opera until the option to "Remove" pops up. Select "Remove" than exit G-Config, and soft reset the phone to make the change take effect.

Hi thanks for the response. i use opera mini and its not on the list. I added it and then tried to remove it but that did not work. I guess its only good for disabling g sensor for the programs that it comes with - I was succesful at disabling rotation with the opera on the list that comes with the stock rom. Any other suggestions? Ive never edited a registry but am williing to try if you can tell me how. thanks.

Can we rotate screen on HTC TOUCH PRO2 without any software installation?

Hi,
Can we tweak or unable features which will rotate the screen on all modes.
I have tried some Screen Rotator software's but I am not happy with them.
Thanks,
Sri
You can do it through the registry, but it would be cumbersome to do it manually. You would need to enter every application on the G-Sensor whitelist.
What software have you tried? There is a simple program called G-Config available right here on XDA. It does not manage the rotation itself, but just edits the registry for you with a user-friendly UI.
If you do a forum search, I also remember a lengthy discussion on this topic that occurred here some time ago. It explains the whitelist, where it is in the registry, etc. If I remember correctly, somebody posted their whitelist, so you may be able to import it to your phone as an alternative to doing the reg idits manually.
