notification manager + Finger Menus - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I found these 4 applications on EnergyROM WM 6.5 (under Utilities folder)
I have been playing around with them, but I got no clue what are they for and how to use them....I have made a search on this forum but found not relevant links...
Here are the four appls:
Notifcation Manager ON
Notifcation Manager OFF
Finger Menus OFF
Finger Menus ON
Can please someone share with me?
Thank you
Saulo

corrections: these 4 apps are under
main desktop > Utilitities > Tweaks
and the ROM is EnergyROM WM 6.5

I have tried to use the search functions in this site, but nothing relevant I can get.
Can somebody share his suggestions?
Thanks
Saulo

Why dont you ask at the rom thread those questions or use the Google?
You have opened three new threads regarding EnergyROM and comparing it with WM6.1 programs or functions, if you are not happy go back to WM6.1

for 3 reasons I made this post:
(by the way I like WM6.5, I just want to get the most from it! I have no regret to move to 6.5 from 6.1)
1st reason: because I have ALREADY posted this question on EnergyROM thread, 3 weeks ago, but they get new posts so frequently that my question got completely unnoticed and un-answered
2nd by googling or using internal search function I found not relevant explanation of what Notification Manager is
3rd I have try to toggle NOTIFICATION MANAGER but I can feel or see any changed behaviour in my Touch phone..
Can anybody else give me a hint?
Thanks
Saulo

I've got the same rom and the same question, it toggled it on device soft resets. Then nothing?

Dear A1Gp.
Please can you expand? I have enabled Notification Manager (and to apply it it required a soft reset, by the way)
After this soft reset I still see no changes!
If now I press the red button on main page (soft reset) it immediately resets the system, JUST AS BEFORE... I get no notification.
Thanks and waiting
Saulo

I would like to know too!

"Notification manager" is the black screen that show you any notifications (like Miss call, SMS, etc.) when you tap on the top taskbar.
"Finger Menus" is the finger friendly menu in Manila. If you off it, you'll get the standard (smaller but faster) menu. (Tried to use "File Explorer" and click on the menu to see the differences.)
Not using Energy ROM so can't show you screen shots
Hope this help

O2 standard Apps

Does anyone know where I can download and install the standard O2 apps that are installed as part of the WM5 customization after a hard reset?
I've just upgraded my Orbit to WM6 and am missing these as they were really useful. I'm not intrested in other apps as I know these O2 ones worked fine and didn't drain the battery etc etc.
The 3 I'm after are,
1) Running Apps for the Today screen
2) Battery Meter
3) Memory usage Meter
4) O2 task manager shortcut Icon
Thanks.
These will be the ones I'm after, all shown on this review just before half way down the page in the screen shots.
http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/4wm-reviews-hardware/7982-o2-xda-orbit.html
Meters allows you to show up to three level meters for Battery, Memory, and Storage card. Each meter can be tapped on to show; a plain bar, the bar with percentage, or bar with Mb free.
Running Apps displays a simple line of icons indicating which programs are currently running in the background, tapping the icon switches to that program.
Shortcuts allows for up to five shortcuts to be configured for launching, tapping on the icon launches the program.
Task Manager - this is activated via the 'O2 bubble' which resides in the bottom bar of the today screen. A single tap on it brings up a brushed metal pop-up which displays the running applications and an options menu. The 'X' next to the listed applications allows each application to be terminated manually when required. Options allows you to select which O2 Custom Today applets are usable on the Today screen, as well as allowing you to define the shortcuts for the Shortcut applet.
They are all in the 'Items' menu of the 'Today' setup in preferences. You need to turn on Meters, Profiles and Shortcuts.
Thanks for the reply and they woudl be if I was still running my O2 ROM and it had run the customization to install them after a hard reset but I've upgraded to BEBE's WM6 ROM which doesn't have any of the O2 utils loaded.
Anyone else on where I can get these? Would anyone with an O2 Orbit ROM be able to pull the customization CAB install files out of their ROM somehow for me?
I just sent you a PM. I can email them to you.

Can you upload these files somewhere?
I just checked the ftp site and they are already there...
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Artemis/Extended_ROMs/O2_Orbit_UK_1.25.206.101_extended_rom.zip
Big thanks to Mark for that and the email. All loaded on and the meters runnings apps and O2 bubble task manager are all there and I'm almost back to where I was on WM5..
However SPB Time fails to wake up the phone from a screen saver locked state with sound, sure it'll flash up the screen with snooze or dismiss red and green buttons but no sound errm kinda makes it useless as an Alarm Clock and as I'm sure all the rest of you out there do I really rely on my phone as an Alarm.. I've been late 2 days in a row now because of this, no joke so.. errm kinda critical for me to get fixed..
Any ideas people. I've even un installed the paid for version I had and installed the latest version (trial) from their site

Hello,
At the risk of sounding stupid, I've just downloaded the zip file for the extended roms. I've unzipped it and gathered from the config file that I should place the cab files in specific locations... My question is, is there a (semi)automatic way of installing it? If not, should I follow the paths found in the config file? Also, there are a few files missing, ie the bmp files, do I need them? Lastly, what about the config.txt the file... where is that to be placed?
Sorry for the barrage of questions Noob here, just want to make sure I understand this the right way!
Thanks for all the help!

PS. 1st post, great site btw!!

Old start menu, old programs tab with 4 icons plus 4 icon program launcher!!

All right guys for those who want to have the old start menu back and want the old programs tab with 4 icons plus the 4 icon programs launcher then intsall the attached cabs (black or white font) which does it all for you, including the registry tweak to enable the old start menu, so enjoy;-)
P.S. currently in landscape mode it doesn't work so well so will try to fix this and post updated cabs here!
Full credit goes to showaco for the hack and Aussiebum for WVGA conversion! Many thanks guys! look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=487192
I've just put everything in one easy install cab including registry tweak, tested on Dutty's v2.6 xtreme rom but can't see why it should not work on other rhodium based rom's with the new start menu!
N.B. this tweak is only for Rhodium based cooked roms with new start menu, so may or may not work with other based roms!!
Update 10/04/09: Added 3 Icons programs tabs cabs for those who prefer the standard 3 icons row programs tab rather then the 4 icons version!
Update 18/04/09: Looks like sgilesuk has beaten me to it with a version for those who prefer to keep the new start menu but would like to have 4 icons all programs launcher look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505400 nice work sgilesuk thanks
Hi gfreek, I just like to have the icons with titles in the PROGRAM tab. How can I do this?

If you mean just to have the icons with titles but without the tiles background for programs tab then the simple answer for the moment is NO sorry!!
Please bare with me as I've only just started looking into this hack and trust me it's not as simple as it looks! to do this hack one needs modify the actual value's and scripts within the manila files and that's very time consuming with a lot of trail and error!! so kudos goes to both showaco for the hack, it's his baby and aussiebum for the WVGA conversion!
I'm just trying get my head around this and do plan to do several other tweaks, lets see if I have ample time this easter weekend I'll try look into your request and see if it's possible!
Would love : only the 4 icons all program ...
I don't like the rest !
Hi,
I tried to fix this once before with showaco, but it didn't quite worked out. I'm surprised it's working for you, but my Touch HD seems to mess up the tiles...

ohh thats messed up!! what rom are you using? I know the cabs I've posted and tweaked here do work well with rhodium based roms with the new start menu.
I've got the same thing, all icons squashed up into the top 3rd and all bunched up
I'm using onkolog Lite Rom

Like I said guys this tweak is only for Rhodium based cooked roms with new start menu, so may or may not work with other based roms!!
If I have some ample free time this easter weekend I will be looking into this issue to see if it can be more compatible with other roms!
thanks for share.I'm looking for it.
Hello, it is possible to disable the old start menu?
Which registry tweak is this?
Thank you!
I installed the black version. What a mess! All icons in three lines.... I don't know how many rows.
nice and is there a way to get rid of the home, people, calender, settings. thanks in advance.

If you are refering to the 4 locked icons (Home, Contacts, Calendar, Settings) in the programs menu then they can be unlocked with some registry settings:
e.g.
For the HOME button:
Change the following value
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Program Launcher\0\IsReadOnly\1 <--(DWORD Data, Dec)
from 1 to 0 to unlock.
The same apply to the other 3 locked buttons after that do soft reset for the changes to take effect
OKAY!!!
Great news!!! i sticked with dutty v2.1 because of the ****ty start menu.
Will flash this weekend to v2.6 again with your cab.
is it a possibility to have the new dutty start menu and this new programs tab working at the same time?
Thank you. I am trying.
Hey gfreek, when I initially flashed dutty's 2.6, I downloaded these cabs from that ROMs thread.
After installing, I encountered a problem whereby once you had scrolled to the program's tab, the soft key settings specific to the programs tab would stick i.e. not change when you went to another tab so if you went to the home tab, the soft keys would remain on 'All programs' and the other one (which I now can't remember off hand). The only way to fix was to soft reset and the problem would simply reoccur if you clicked on the programs tab
I also couldn't uninstall these cabs and had to perform a hard reset.
If you could sort out these issues, I will gladly revert back to the old start menu with your method.

Hi, I've got the same problem as Quad, on Dutty's 2.6 rom.
But thanks for what you're doing.

Please give me the old Notifications Manager feature back :(

Someone please help - I downloaded and installed Tarkim's Keyboard Remapping tool and it works great. I noticed, however, that it reverted my Notifications Manager feature back to the new TP2 way that you all seem to want and like. Before this install I'd found and installed Topaz's Notifications Manager that made the feature work like it did in my old TouchPro and T-Mo Wing before that, where you would click on a notification at the top of the screen and it opened each notification individually when tapped PLUS it gives you the old 5 Min/10 Min/15 Min/1 Hour/1 Day snooze options on alarms/reminders, instead of the new default 5 Min only snooze option offered w/ the Notifications Manager on the TP2. This may not be a problem for some but I happen to not like the new Notifications bar/window on the TP2 and downloaded the Topaz Notification Manager Cab to get the Notifications to work in the traditional way and it was working beautifully. BUT when I installed this Keyboard Configurator it put the old TP2 Notifications bar/window back but w/ some tweaks - When you tap the top of your screen in the Notifications area, the Notifications window opens BUT you are able to tap the Data bar inside and it opens the Comm Manager and the Battery bar opens the Power Manager. I think the SDKcerts has something to do w/ this but I really don't know??
I have tried uninstalling the Keyboard Remapping tool and the SDKcerts that it came w/ and the Topaz Notification Manager and reinstalling only Topaz and the old SDKcerts it came w/, but it still gives me the TP2 Not Manager screen w/ extra tweaks. I just want the old one back. Please, can anyone help me get it back???
Thanks so much,
Len
the Topaz Notification Manager is the new Notification Manager but adds the battery part since the TP2 NM takes out the battery guage.
It DOES NOT do what you want it to, so it must have been some other registry hack or app that you installed to get it the old way.
i hope this is what are you looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=491676
A.
Xnifex, I think you're right. I did a hard reset back to fact settings and installed the following only and in this order:
1) Keyboard config (w/o SDKcerts pkg'ed w/ the program. (this made the program inoperable, by the way))
2) The original SDKcerts & Topaz Notifications Manager (that I thought gave me the old TouchPro Notification settings)
Result: Exactly what you said - TP2 Notifications bar/window but w/ enhancements to Battery and Comm Managers.
Gosh, guess I have to figure out which of the programs I installed that gave me the old way.
as_x1 - Not exactly what I was looking for but I sure appreciate your response and trying to help.
I appreciate you both and will repost once I figure out what gave it to me...I'm hopeful!
UPDATE: FOUND THE FIX...
OMG xnifex, I found the fix!!! And it was w/ the Topaz Notifications Manager...well, slightly. As I said before, I am a super novice, so with that said again, I just realized when I downloaded the Topaz Not. Mngr, it came w/ 2 files in the .Zip - the Topaz Not. Mngr Cab and a sdkcerts Cab. Since I didn't know what the "sdkcerts" was, and the instructions didn't tell me to install it, I only installed the Topaz Not. Mngr Cab file. Well low & behold - that alone gives you the old Touch Pro Not. Mngr options where you can touch on each one at the top of the screen individually and a bubble opens w/ their respective details and features. PLUS it gives you back the old Reminder & Alarm snooze interval options!
Needless to say, I'm very happy to have found this answer BUT I really want to have the ability to customize my hardware keys and keyboard. This means installing the Keyboard Configurator WITH the infamous SDKcerts Cab. What do I do? Is there anyway around this?? Can someone create an SDKcerts Cab that keeps these old Touch Pro Not. Mngr settings??? Or is it at all possible to install the Keyboard Config w/o the SDKcerts????
Well, there's my dilemma :-/ If you or anyone out there can help me, I sure would appreciate it!! I'll also send an email to Tarkim since he seems to know quite a bit about his Keyboard Config.
Thanks so much!!!

Link to the Control Panel

Hello guys,
After a long search on the web I can't find the answer to "How to create a control panel shortcut on Windows Mobile".
Out of the box, our Rhodium are packaged with a "Settings" shortcut in the start menu which links to the Settings tab of Manilla. I find this annoying, if i want to go to the manilla settings, i use manilla not the start menu.
So I want a direct link to Windows' control panel. I've seen many ways to link to a specific applet, but not the whole control panel.
Anyone can help ?
PS : Also I'm looking for the HTCSettings.exe file stored in every Rhodium (WM6.5 version)... I've accidentally deleted it :/
Thanks !
I am not sure I understand the question, but I think what you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.. If that is correct, the solution is simple. Click Start>Settings>ToDay>Items>TouchFLO 3D>OK>X and you should have it. What you want is to be running TouchFLO instead of Windows Default.
Hope that helps.
what he is saying is that he wants to got to the control panel or "settings" from the start menu, when you hit start and then settings it takes you to manilla settings
What annoys me is that the Bluetooth and Today screen prefs are ONLY available through the Windows CPL, things like QuickMenu don't see them..
You got is cs400, that's what I'm looking for.
Someone can send me the original HTC Settings.exe (Located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs) ?
Okay guys, I figured out how to solve this problem by hanging around in the registry !
How to change the "Settings" icon in the Start Menu to make it open WM's Control Panel rather than Manilla's settings panel ?
- First go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and remove (or move) the file HTC Settings.exe
- Then go to the registry \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo and change the value HideSettings from 1 to 0
- Reboot your device, it's done !
I am trying to change the 'Settings' button in the Start Menu to open the WM Control Panel instead of the Manila settings, however, the \HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo key does not exist in my registry. Is there another way to link to the Control Panel? Thanks!
WM control panel shortcut
I would appreciate anyone telling me how to make a shortcut that links to the WM Control Panel.
Thanks!

Thank-you a million times! Just installed something that crashed my HTC Sense, and couldn't for the life of me work out how to get to Remove Programs so I could un-install it! I now have my phone back, without having to go down the hard-reset route which I'd feared was my only option.
you could do as htc intended and clicked "all settings" on the settings tab for those manila doesnt cover.
Which would have worked brilliantly....had I been able to get to the settings tab in the first place.
With Sense freezing, I had to run the 'change my background' option from 'Getting Started' to get into the Today options and disable Sense. Then use the tips in this thread to get the Settings folder back on my Start Menu. Normally I would have used the All Settings option, but couldn't in this case, and it's funny how much you don't realise is missing from a start menu....until you need it!

Start showing last 4 apps

I recently moved from Dutty WM 6.1 to EnergySun WM 6.5 application and I have, as usual, disabled HTC Manila.
Is WM6.1, when I click start button (top left) the top bar would show the last 4 lauched applications. A very nice applet, I guess, whose name I am unaware of.
The 4 last used applications were displayed on top of the main window, at the left of the icons showing clock, network signal, wifi signal level, etc.
Now, in WM6.5, when I click start, yes, I can have the whole desktop appear, but this nice applet is gone...in other words, I cannot see anymore the 4 last used applications on the top bar.
Can someone point me to where I can download this small program to display (on top bar) the 4 last used applications?
Thanks
Saulo
or shall I assume that this is not a tiny program but just a setting?
If so probably I can make the top bar re-appear (showing the last used applications) simply by tweaking with WVGA Tweak?
If yes, can someone please explain how to do?
Thanks a lot
Saulo
I have tried to use WVGA Tweak and Advanced Config, but I see no settings to change there to enable this feature (to show the 4 last opened programs)
Can somebody share his suggestions?
Thanks
Saulo
Personally, I use wisbar advance 3...gives me options to use cascading menus along with most recent applications...pretty good so far and gives the phone a nice pc feel...
Thank you Telegraph!
Can you kindly point the link for the latest version? I wish to give it a try
Again thanks
Saulo
I have found the link:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/
I wish to try it, but anyway are there other similar applications available, fee-based or freeware?
Thanks
Saulo
