likewise. gonna try and be there at about 930. :].

I don't get it why people still buy these branded phones, they're horrific.
Everywhere are posts that people have them and hate them and I don't really feel they're much cheaper or so.

Is T-Mobile the only 3G Carrier in the US? Can't you buy an unbranded and take a SIM only with data plan ?

The unlocked TP2 doesn't have North American 3G bands (the NA carriers make sure of that), so you can use the unlocked phones but you'll only have Edge speeds.

uhh, in order to have 3G, the bands have to match. and as far as i know, none of the US bands match those of Euro bands. sooooo no. you cant. who cares what it looks like or what it has on it? In the end, we're all gonna be running the same ****. The only difference is gonna be some gloss and chrome. and maybe a i tiny little front facing camera. other than that, why spend a hefty sum of cash for something a little shinier that is slower? Sounds like you'd rather buy a honda than a Bugatti Veyron. LaWlZzZz. ha.

I went to go see the T-mobile version today

I went to go see the T-mobile version today at a store in Tacoma... AND I LOVE THE PHONE!
I'm definitely waiting until August 12th (which is the now rumored release date).
It is everything that I thought it would be.
But here are some impressions for those of you interested in the T-mobile USA version:
1. No chrome- thankfully this did not kill the sex appeal. I think that the phone is the sexiest phone I have ever seen. The look is not inferior to the International version, just different.
2. It is a speed demon! Whatever ROM it is running is even faster than the international version (from what I have seen in video reviews) and everything is very fluid.
3. The keyboard is perfect. Enough said.
4. The guy who owned the phone said that the release date is supposed to be mid-to-late August. Though I'm betting on August 12th.
5. Any questions, ask away. I'm very excited for the release of this phone.
Did T-Mo keep the second camera on this phone, is it full of bloat-ware, and lastly did they destroy any of what we love about the phones capabilities.
i have a german t-mobile vario 5 and i can say hardware is exactly the same so YES front camera is there too!
there is some software like web n walk and some other t-mobile software but its not that bloated.

I'm sorry. I was asking that question assuming the author was referring to T-Mobile USA. I know it's not out yet in US for customers, but there are some T-Mo employees that have demo versions of the phone. I thought this person was one of them.

For some reason the Music player on Touchflo3d cannot read my memory card. I have an 8gb card, with around 1100 songs and it takes forever to load. After about 5 mins, it might show the songs, I click a song, it lags to play, then it plays, I try to change the track and it freezes.
Do we know yet which 3G frequencies the USA version of this phone will support? i.e. will it only work on the US networks, or be a proper 'world standard' phones that will work on all the UK 3G networks as well as the US ones?

I believe that it supports international EDGE bands.
However, it only supports T-mobile 3G. No AT&T nor European 3G I think.

I'm glad there's no chrome, personally. I plan to own the device for a long time, and with my luck the chrome would crack before I grew tired of the device. But from the one shot I've seen of it on a TmoUSA promo it's my least favorite looking of all the versions. I'd have to go digging around, but I think either the Sprint or Verizon was my favorite looking device.
Fortunately, appearances are the least important factor in my buying decision, because I'll probably end up on TMobile's network before I even get the phone.
The guy who has it name is Young.
If you don't like the looks of the phone, you can always get a gel skin. You can also order replacement exterior pieces online and just have someone take the phone apart and put the new parts on.
It is so bloody annoying that the TP2 is coming out everywhere on t mobile (in the US and mainland Europe) except in the UK. The rumour that it failed testing in the UK can't be right, as it appears to have passed testing everywhere else. Perhaps it has more to do with the fact that t mobile in the UK is being sold off and that it can't afford too many new launches of products.

hello im here with all the WINMO enviroment.
Been reading heaps.
Does anyone know where I can get the stock Aus Telstra ROM from or how I can backup the ROM from my phone?
Cheers
using telstra touch pro 2 in canada
love it. wanting to flash to get rid of the telstra muck i cannot edit out in the rom. I'm also looking to find a way to dump the stock rom in case i need to reflash back later.
Flashed Telstra
I have had my Telstra TP2 for a month or so and have been flashing it regularly trying out different ROMS. My favourite is the Energy 'Leo' ROM even though it has been a little buggy, but it's still under development and gets updated pretty regularly. The only thing I cant get to work properly is MMS but that's not a biggy.
I've had a go at backing up the Telstra ROM before I blew it away. Not really sure if i was successful, but have the files here somewhere if i get desparate enough to go back, but i doubt that.
Flashing is easy, plenty of guides here. But also plenty of info here that will let you edit out the T-stuff and keep their ROM if that is what you prefer.

Unbranded Touch Pro 2

I am thinking about getting the touch pro 2, and instead of waiting until AT&T finally releases it, I am thinking about biting the bullet and buying the unbranded unlocked version. My question is will the 3G still work. I have heard that 3G does not work on non-AT&T phones, or is that only if you buy an unlocked TMobile phone? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Search the forum, this has been answered 7,000 times.
Sorry, I did search and came up with thousands of answers and none of them seemed to answer my question specifically.
Ok, here the answer again by 7001 time
Europe original unbranded version will work only in Europe and Asia 3G and not in America networks
Just ordered the Tmo version today but I really like the unlocked version. Do you guys think there is a possibilty that the Euro version has support for AWS and is just not activated! I'm pretty sure this has been asked, but a search brought me no specific results. Why can't Tmobile just leave well enough alone!
7002
no, it won't work with AWS. only the Tmobile version does. EU doesn't work with any North American 3G, etc, etc, etc....
You could purchase the unlocked Australian version; 3G should work here, but that will cost $$$$.

Thanks
Thanks for the information. Saved me from buying an unlocked version that won't work on AT&T's 3G. Will just have to wait for AT&T, just hope it isn't that long of a wait.
Would I be able to buy it from AT&T (when available) on a separate, new account, unlock it, pay the termination fee, and use it on my regular AT&T account with little problem? It's cheaper to terminate than buy off contract, most of the time, as long as they don't give me any trouble. Should it work?

Thanks in advance,
I have an unbranded TP2. I didn't want to wait any longer for AT&T to release theirs and I don't like the way they are going with their keyboard layout. I know 3G is important for most folks, but my essential needs is data connection for email and EDGE is doing a pretty damn good job. Maybe if I am waiting in line or something related to that, I may wish I had a faster connection to watch youtube, but for the most part, I have no regrets.

Yes that should work. But, how much is the termination fee? If you are paying $200 less to sign a 2-year contract then I'm sure the termination fee will be at least $200. Otherwise, I can't imagine at&t would make it that easy. Plus I'm sure you will have to pay for the first month of service, you won't get that back.

AT&T Tilt 2 with T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 Motherboard

This is my Tilt 2 phone with T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 motherboard. I did this because ATT 3G will not will not work on T-Mobile network. Voice frequency is same on both networks but 3G data frequency is different. I didn't know that when I bought this phone. So Bought a TP2 with broken screen ($20 on craigslist) and swapped the motherboard. It was a perfect fit! I did not change the speaker/antenna because it was slightly different but the reception is excellent.
Just thought I share this info to anyone who's thinking about doing the same thing. Let me know if you have any question, I’ll be glad to share.

if you're in tmobile network you can use simple mobile. customer service is pretty bad. bunch of idiots. you need to get a sim card. i got mine from ebay for about $3. just pop in the sim card, load up your account and your good to go. you don't even have to unlock tmobile phone. for att phones, you have to unlock it but 3g will not work. hope this helps
one thing i'm disappointed about this service is you cannot do conference calls. i hope they change this policy.
yellowtail714, I've sent you a PM. Waiting for your reply

Why get AT&T version when T-mobile variant can be sim unlocked for $5

Title says it all. I'm running a 851 T-mobile variant with TWRP and AOKP (new rom posted today) on it. Same bands and LTE works perfect. So the question stands why don't you AT&T owners sell yours and do the same? More development is going on since the bootloader is already unlocked and the more using one version the better for development as well in my eyes.
Maybe there is a specific reason but what am I missing?
I'm on Sprint and paid 99 for my phone. That's the only reason.

Makes sense not switching carriers, and sprint is CDMA not GSM so wouldn't work regardless. Threads more toward the AT&T owners and all the Bootloader Bounty chatter....
Got ya. Us Sprint guys are in the same boat. If they succeed in an unlock I'm definitely gonna donate if they don't charge anything for it.
Well AT&T is the better network hands down so there's that and if someone didn't think about bootloaders and development before purchasing chances are they don't need or want to root so there's 2 really good reasons why not to sell an AT&T G3 for the same exact phone on another network. That and also that its the same exact phone on another network.
I did it, mine 855P is the same as international 855 but with LTE from Mexico and USA so I sold it and bought a T-Mobile just for the same price =D and I still have my wireless charger that came with my 855P + an upgrade from 16gb/2gb RAM to 32gb/3gb RAM, a good deal.

Well that exactly what i did had the 850 and sold it on ebay and got the 851. 851's are cheaper actually. Still on AT&T network, agree its the better network hands down. If I chose to sell this it can go either ATT or T-mobile and works on LTE for both.
I guess i don't see your argument at all..
That's really not a terrible idea, lol. I friggen hate having this locked bootloader on my 850. Does the TMobile variant have the EXACT same bands as the AT&T one?
My other option is to just sell this stupid thing and buy a Nexus X when it comes out.

Do it, I made money actually. And you can literally download the IMEI unlock app on Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.servtified.unlock_lg_g3&hl=en) and pay 5 dollars to have it working on AT&T LTE in the matter of minutes. You do need to add your APN info for ATT but that''s it, works awesome!
Yes it has the exact same bands identical.

Not an argument, actually a reason to be satisfied with their purchase is that its on AT&T. I'm on T-Mobile but I don't defend their service, just went through them to lease the G3 and not pay outright for it. Going back to Straight Talk soon since I already SIM unlocked it. I would hope that a normal non obsessed person would consider all their options for US variants and not go through the headache of switching carriers for the exact same phone and sell the other. Not everyone cares about unlocking phones, some people are satisfied with simply having them, I'm not one of those people, but they do exist.

Why would you assume that? I've seen plenty of posts by users running stock unrooted devices. Just because its not unlocked doesn't mean people don't have a passion for development.
