Folks,
Is there access to a command line on the (Tmobile) HTC Touch Pro 2? I am wondering if I can emulate a DOS prompt (or Linux prompt). I read there's a program called Dos Box PPC (http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-dosboxppc-v0-63.html), but I am not sure if it would work with Windows Mobile 6.1.
Is there any kind of command prompt access?
Thanks
What is it that you want to do? I've done this back in the WinMobile 2003 days and it wasn't all that useful. I used it to set up stunnel for encryption I think.
Ever since I installed pocket putty I've had no need to do this. Gives you a command prompt on a real computer.

Try PocketConsole (disable TouchFlo first!!!)
or
try searching for BOCHS - I got this working and got Windows 95 running on it.
What is cool about Touch Pro2 is that when you disable TouchFlo you have 100MB of program memory, so you allocate 64MB to Bochs and you have pretty good virtual PC on your phone
You need VGAKEY to be able to press F12 and F5 in Bochs (to enable Mouse support via touchscreen and to go fullscreen). Enter key on hardware keydoard the acts as single/double mouse click.
I am looking to do things like view the raw hardware architecture, run commands which would refresh my IP address (like "ipconfig" in DOS), and do low-level stuff like that.
Any idea if this is possible?
schriss,
Were you able to get network/internet access in Windows 95? (As in, binding the virtual LAN card in Windows 95 to the phone's WLAN or G3 card?
Thanks in advance

Easy. VxIPConfig:

VxUtil may interest you as well (ping, DNS etc etc):

It looks like VxIPConfig and VxUtil are graphic programs (I'm sure they are excellent), but I am looking for a more low-level way of adjusting this info, such as using the command prompt.
Any other ideas?

Are you thinking about adjusting routing etc? There isn't much you can do with ipconfig.
As the device is not designed with a command line you'd need a special app for every command you wanted. It wouldn't be "raw" access, it would be just faking it.
As someone else said, PocketConsole is your best bet. But I don't think it provides ipconfig or net commands, I may be wrong though.

Alternatively I believe there are a few scripting utils if running sequences of apps is your goal.
For really really low level hardware, I think you should also look into HaRET (by the way: it s a command line)
Re the other question: I was only able to install network card in Windows 95, but then started looking into Android, so... gave up

anyone know where i can purchase a VNC Client so that I can install it on my 8525 using WM6 Black Edition 1.2 ?
Thanks.
Doesn't VNC work with a web browser? If so, what happens if you try accessing your server that way?
-Steve
well yes, but you can have the server installed on your pc, and have the client isntalled on a remote PC... I used to be a previous Palm OS user, and I used to connect to my PC at home using PalmVNC.
Is there a VNC program i can use that i can install on my 8525?
Here you go
Copy exe to sd card or phone and run.
out of curiosity, has anyone tried the remote desktop function in wm6??? i use the vnc for ppc also, and havent made a full commitment to wm6 yet... now that i think about it.. i bet you have to have remote desktop on the pc turned on... fk that
thanks alot man!!! works like a charm!
I'm using this one:
http://www.freewareppc.com/docs/netvncviewer.shtml
It's working perfect for me.

yes it works good... scaling is a B*tch but it works.... I like USING VNC better.
is it possible to extract the ".exe" files and have them displayed in the Programs area?
i just create a shortcut.... i take the file, store it on the card, tick and hold till your menu comes up, tick copy, then point your file explorer to windows\start menu\programs then in the folder tick and hold for your menu, select copy shortcut. From there i usually edit the file name so it doesnt say shortcut, then your done!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet thanks!!!! Im still getting used to WM.. Been a Palm OS user since May 05
Here's a GREAT viewer from RealVNC, freeware:

this is the one i use... it works great... but needs a little tweaking
Personally i use .net VNC Viewer and UltraVNC server.
.net VNC Viewer can handle server side scaling.
This means smaller image and less traffic .
we all know we can Run virtual winmo on a PC based machine.
but can we run an emulated PC on a winmo?
not really the whole OS. but something like STYLETAP where you can run some PPC apps on symbian and UIQ devices.
i know some of us wants to run Apps desiged for PC that doesnt have a mobile version yet.
and while we're at it, I'd like to drive my car with my phone, too
oh and make dinner with it as well
Miracles happen at Christmas ...
What about this: http://bochs.sourceforge.net/
I personally do not use it, but some guys got an original Win95 up and running with this on PocketPC.

It's a cool experiment to run Windows 95 on your PPC, but even on a 528 MHz device like the TP2, it'll still be at best unusable for anything. Bochs is even slower than DosBox when running a full version of Windows, and it just doesn't work well.
@OP: Really, the only thing to do is wait for a full port of whatever PC apps you want to run. Alternatively, you could look into setting up a remote desktop connection, which shows your PC's screen on your phone over a network connection.

As long as we're making christmas wishes, I'd love to see a new approach to remote desktop connections, for much the reason the OP has in mind. Rather than kicking the screen output straight to your mobile, your PC should reorder the contents and GUI of any particular program to the template of your choice, and then transmit THAT to your mobile. A little scripting, and you've got a perfectly mobile-friendly interface to control the desktop program of your choice. Then when you interact with the reworked interface, the desktop translates your action and carrier it out on the real program.

my phone makes dinner, its call dominoes.
Since stkeys PPC (vb.net app) is way too slow, at least on my blueangel, i decided to try porting the original stkeys prog by wyse101 0x40 gmail.com to windows mobile as a native c app. So here it is, source included.
How to use:
Copy stkeys_mobile.exe to any folder on your phone.
Suppose you need to find the key for ThomsonAABBCC. Copy AABBCC to the clipboard.
Close any CPU intensive apps you might have running, so the program runs faster.
Run the program, and click OK to confirm or Cancel to exit.
Wait a bit (this program doesn't really have a GUI; bear with my inexperience in win32 coding).
After a minute or so, a messagebox shows up. Click OK to see the results with your default txt viewer. The results are always appended to \stkeys.txt.
Enjoy.
Hi
Sorry to sound dumb, thank for sharing but what exactly your app is doing ?
Exactly i also didnt understand ... what this app does?
It does the same as the original stkeys: guess the default WPA key in Thomson/Speedtouch routers. Read more on it here.
Hi.
I'm trying using this on my Xperia (WM 6.1) and give this error:
" Invalid SSID length (0). Exiting."
I already installed the .net framework.

You have to copy the SSID to the clipboard. This program does not use the .net framework.
You may also take my SciLor's Wifi Penetrate (Other routers are also supported) for it. You will just need a rainbowtable to find the keys very fast (Just 200MB)!

Hi
Im running visual studio on Parallels 6.0 but the windows phone emulator doesn't seem to be working all that well. It boots and I can debug on it. But if i for example want to surf in internet explorer it doesn't work. Is that a graphics problem?
Anyways, has anyone manage to solve this?
Thanks

"Running the emulator inside a VM is not supported in Windows Phone SDK."
Yes, but not supported is not the same as not possible is it? My question was if somebody has a workaround.
I thought you needed hardware virtualization in your CPU for the WP7 emulator to work. This means it shouldn't work in Parallels at all.
As far as IE goes, that's very likely a graphic issue. Unless you can get some kind of DirectX or Direct3D support in your virtual guest, it's likely not happening...
Hoping that Parallels 7 released today solves this.

My CPU lacks hardware virualization and the emulator runs perfectly fine on it.

any news?
What i've been wanting to do for a long time now is run the windows mobile 6.5 and/or windows phone 7 emulator on my pc and then access it through a remote desktop connection. Maybe some sort of VNC? The way I want it set up is where I have 3 virtual desktops running on my pc all in 480x800. One would have the standard windows environment and the other two would be running the emulators in full screen. I need some advice on how to configure this and what the best phone-side and PC-side apps would be to use. Preferably open source or free. I'll bet there are more people in the community other than me that would like to do this.
