I have multiple email addresses (aka identities) that all forward to one inbox which I connect to through IMAP. This means I'm not send/receiving on 10 different accounts.
On my desktop, I reply to any email in the inbox but can change the from: field in Outlook or use a differnet email identity (and associated from: address) in Thunderbird.
Is there a way (e.g. regedit) that I can make the Windows Mobile 6.x email application's from: field editable when replying to email?
Alternatively, is anybody aware of a Windows Mobile 6.x application supporting multiple email identities for one account?
FYI. The only workaround at the moment is to edit the email account options (Menu >> Tools >> Options...) and changing the email address, depending on which email I am replying to. Then changing it again. Not ideal.
This topic was discussed in 2005 in the Magician forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=234510) but I have a Touch HD. Any resolution, however, may apply to other handsets.
Thanks in advance...

Do you guys remember when there used to be a Domain box in the e-mail setup options when inputting pop/imap server settings? I notice that with WM6, its gone! The reason i ask this is cuz there is a program that is called Pocket Hotmail which lets you check your hotmail/msn inbox without using windows live! But for MSN e-mails, it requires a name in the Domain field.
Is there any way to get the domain field back? The reason i ask this is cuz i HATE windows live! I have 2 msn accounts and 1 hotmail account, and the only way for me to check them thru live is to log out then log onto another one, then log out again, and log onto the other one. Any ideas anyone? If windows live let us put multiple e-mails to be checked at a time that would be great... but i dont see them doing that in the near future
For clarification, look at step 7 on this link:
http://www1.umn.edu/adcs/guides/email/winmobile5/
you will notice that there is a Domain field. Sum1 please help
Or if anyone knows how to attatch a msn/hotmail account with the standard inbox program that would be great help too!
Typically, if you can't put in a domain name in it's own box, you just prepend it to the front of the username field.
User: rob
Pass: mypass
Domain: mydomain
becomes
user: mydomain\rbruce
pass: mypass
Hope that helps.
Rob
I agree with Rob, that solution would probably work. Usually when you require a domain, putting it in front of the username solves the issue.
I've given up hope on pocket hotmail ... it actually doesnt work ...
Does anyone know of a way i can check msn/hotmail e-mail with the inbox program without using windows live? This would be a HUGE help... but til this very day, i haven't found a way to do it.
In WM6, just go into the messaging list and click "New E-Mail Account", it'll setup the email for you.

in WM6, if you click New E-mail account and enter a msn/hotmail address, it will redirect you to set it up with Windows Live!
I want it to be in just a standard inbox.
It is a standard inbox? Live is just the new name for it.
If you disable the today plugin, you'll just have the Live inbox. Can't you just add and then add again?
In some aspect it is just co-linked with the standard inbox. Hence why sounds cannot be associated when you receive new email messages. Also, you CANNOT add more than one e-mail account at a time. So its a pain having to log in and out of all three of my msn/hotmail accounts.
And currently, i am having a problem with syncing e-mails "as they arrive". If i go to the settings and set it so it notifies me "as they arrive" , the settings don't stick. I officially HATE windows live!
It's great that googlesync allows true push email to the HD, but we're still restricted by WM 6.x to only one ActiveSync account.
But it occurred to em that we could use this to create pseudo multiple accounts. My idea is as follows:
Set up a GMAIL account.
Set up Activesync so that the new GMAIL account syncs with your Windows Mobile phone. It only needs to pull mail from "1 day" and with a 2Kb size limit as we are actually only interetsed in the header, not the mail itself.
Forward all incoming mail from other accounts at any provider to the new GMAIL account so they are pushed to the phone. Use the GMAIL "[email protected]" to set "marker" to identify the account that the original mail came from
Set up ordinary IMAP (or POP) accounts on the phone with the names of "marker". Set these accounts to "manually" retrieve mail i.e. no schedule.
Have an app on the phone that reads the incoming "pushed" mail from the activesync account, looks at the "marker" and uses that to trigger a "get mail" call for the appropriate account on the 'phone
Delete the original Activesynced email.
And just like that, every time a mail comes into any of the accounts, they are synced to the phone which then pulls them into the "correct" account from whence they can be replied etc. with all the correct email addresses.
Now I know that for you in the development world, this is an easy task. For me, I have a problem writing Step 5 above as I am not a Windows Mobile coder. Yes I could learn and in the spirit of XDA I probably should - but is there anyone else out there who would like to give this a go?
I'm posting a poll too so that potential developers can see if there's demand for this. Please vote if you think it would be a beneficial app.
I use my TP2 to read email from my office Exchange Server. Graphics in the emails, however, appear as http links. When I press the link, it opens Opera and goes to the site. On my desktop, however, the graphics are displayed as part of the email without my having to press the link. Does anyone know how to configure the TP2 so that the graphics are shown in the email in the same way as on a desktop? Thanks.

Two Possibilities:
1) If the Exchange Server is version 2003, then it doesn't support HTML e-mail (inline/body graphics) for mobile devicies. Exchange 2007 does support HTML e-mail for mobile, as well as other improvements.
I recently switched Exchange server hosts to a different company that uses Exhange 2007 in order to get the improved mobile support, for my personal Outlook stuff.
So...if your problem is because your office is using 2003 you'll have to convince them to upgrade...and then there's version 2010...
2) If the Exchange Server is 2007, then maybe the E-mail Sync Options on your TP2 just need to be fixed: ActiveSync - Menu - Options - E-mail Settings - E-mail Sync Options - Message Fomat: HTML or Plain Text. HTML is usually already set by default...but if you're lucky that may be it. If HTML is greyed out on that setting -- not available to choose, then it's probably an Exchange 2003 server -- no HTML graphics in e-mail.
Thanks, MCBrian. On my ActiveSync settings, the HTML setting for Message Format was greyed out. I guess my office is using 2003 instead of 2007 Exchange Server. I'll confirm that and see if there is any chance they will upgrade to 2007.

Does anyone know of a way that you can pick a different "from" e-mail address? I have multiple accounts, but am using Google to POP all the accounts, which I then access via Google's Microsoft Exchange with Active Sync. Whenever I reply (or send new messages), the messages are all preset with the gmail address in the From line, when I would prefer to be able to choose different addresses be entered in the From line.
I also have a Verizon WirelessSync account which also uses a single From address.
The reason I don't want multiple accounts setup in Outlook Mobile is because:
1) There's a limit of six accounts, and I have 13 e-mail accounts
2) Popping addresses every so often eats significant battery juice
TIA
I don't know if this will work for the way you are doing it, but Google Mail has a way to set a different "From" address, so that it looks like you're sending it from another account and not Google.
Go into "Settings", "Accounts and Import" and add your desired "From" address into the "Send Mail As" section.
I am aware of that option in Google, but that only applies to web-based mail. In other words, you have to be viewing your mail online via their web-based interface in order for that to work.
That's why I asked if someone knew of a way, or had a hack, to "open up" the From address field in mobile Outlook.
Please! Can any one help me out here?
I have a HTC Touch Pro 2 mobile
I have an email imap setting for my provider.
It downloads email from my provider’s server for reading.
When I delete email from the device’s inbox it also deletes mail
from the servers inbox folder.
I only want to delete emails from the Touch Pro to stop them
being visible on the mobile device.
I want to be able to delete server emails from my home computer
or by my email providers internet web site only. Which I can do.
How can I set these features up.
On my old HTC P6500 WM6.1 this what I had working.
