All,
I have a MDAIII flashed with the latest iMate ROM running TomTom 5.1. The problem I have is that while using TomTom 5.1 the application closes by itself and unloads from memory. This is really annoying can anyone tell me why this is happening? I am using a Holux 236 GPSlim Bluetooth.
Thanks
Msuk
Hiya,
The same problem here but with TomTom 5.0...
I flashed my MDA III with the latest iMATE ROM (1.40) and Radio 1.13...
...now TomTom closes itself, when I am trying to change map colours, when trying to zoom in or out on the map or after a minute or so when working with the BT GPS...
ANYONE???
Hi,
I reflashed my phone over the weekend using the iMate 1.40 ROM and then installed TomTom 5.0 upgraded to 5.1 and so far it is running ok - hmm odd.
Thanks
Msuk
maybe be poi
Try disabling POI and see if that helps
Does the patch to 5.1 resolve the lack of on-screen keyboard missing?
I have to resort to using the slide down hardware keyboard and have difficulty getting numbers for postcode input!
Anyone got a solution?
JC
Hi there guys, for all the problems here on tomtom you will find if searched on the forums all your answers, but as for the on-screen keyboard yes 5.1 resolves this, so go ahead and update it!
as for the crashing it is the poi that is doing this, make sure you have installed a good version of TT5 and there is a patch for the poi problem on this forum and on the ftp site. if you search for the poi patch you will definatly find it.
I have TT5 and my MDA III and it works perfectly (touch wood) with my leadtek bluetoth gps reciever on WM 2003, i could'nt for the life of me get it working on WM2005 so i had to downgrade, maybe il upgrade again when it is a bit more stable.
So all you guys, search and destroy the problem!!

I just did this and now I have what appears to me Spanish POI on my Tomtom..? Or did I just do it wrong..?
Like a fool, I didn't copy my existing POI and I just overwrote it!
Lesson learnt here folks is to make sure you can get back to where you were!!
Oh well, I'll fix it tonight when I get home!
POI.DAT ITA !!!
HI GUYS....
HELP ME PLEASE !!!
i have a problem with my qtek 9090 (rom v. 1.40.04 ITA; ext rom v. 1.40.153 ITA; radio rom 1.12.00) and tomtom 5.10. I have installed first tomtom 5.00 and then the upgradeto 5.10. I have installed ITALY PLUS MAP (309mb). In some place the tomtom software disconnect the gps connection and unload itself from memory. I have disabled PDI (POI) and now tomtom in that place doesn't unload itself from memory. But if i want POI function ??? Could I use the POI.DAT file linked in this forum ?? That file is good for my italian
version ??? If not where can I dowload the file POI.DAT for my italian version ???
Thank you so much !!!!
That link for the POI patch doesn't work??
Jupiter
...mate, the file is still there.... try different approach, go to the FTP manualy, then go to Uploads/Blueangel/TomTom5/, & download the POI.DAT file. (I'll try to attach it to this message anyway...)
r_grieco
From what I understood the poi patched file uses existing points of interest of your mashine, but if you'll try to search for some poi you won't be able to find it...
Any how, try it, it might help. Gust make a backup copy of the original POI.DAT file.
Everybody
I've upgraded to 5.10 & all the issues are gone, I have onscreen keyboard + the built in keyboard works absolutely fine & the original POI file works with no problems whatsoever.
P.S.
I use Great Britan maps...
I tried to do the upgrade to 5.10 and it just went on & on forever, I had to do a ctrl+alt+del to stop it!
I'm guessing I may have installed TT5 incorrectly in the first instance despite this, it works fine but no on screen keyboard and Brands Hatch doesn't exist!!!

If you want PM me I'll sed you *.CAB files of the upgrade.
I haven't used the PC wizzard to upgrade my TT5 to 5.10, so I don't know if there are any issues with it... ...or I just have a special version...

i have tried to get to the ftp site but it never works
Sure there must be a key to this
I tried to download the file but it locked me out and i had to reinstall tomtom 5
if anyone has got 5.1 or knows why i cant get it from ftp would welcome as this keyboard **** is driving me mad

hi
How to enable the GPS with HTC P3600 my ROM IS 1.17.415.3
THANKS FOR HELP
rom upgrades, either here or from htc itself if it is really an HTC-branded device
from where can i have the recent rom
Lol I wish we could just enable GPS in Touch like we can in Trinity....
There is hidden quad-band but I doubt there is GPS in my Touch.
And as for the ROM, you can get it from the HTC site.
please can any body send me the link
thanks
Just go safe for a start...
Hello, I guess you must be kidding since you already have 81 post, I don't think you are so unaware of Trinity stuffs...
Anyway, in case your request was serious, here below is the HTC club's registration link.
You just register, and then using your IMEI number, you just download the suitable GPS enabled rom for your device, according to your brand or unbrand, and your geographic area.
Just go safe and start using GPS with a safe official rom.
When you feel more confident, you'll find plenty of wm6 rom on this forum, cooked or rebuilt.
http://www.htc.com/support/support_htcp3600.htm
thank u very much for your reply
yes i am old in the forums but with my old imate pda2k i got this HTC only 2 days ago.
the second thing i already registered in the HTC club and added the IMEI of my HTC but they informed me that there is no new updates for it
any idea
thanks
update your signature with your new phone details
No problem, my pleasure to help in the extend of my limited knowledge.
OK, let's start from the beginning:
could you update your signature in order to let us know which version of rom, radio, protocole etc. you're running.
And can you tell also in which area you bought your device, this will decide which rom you can safely flash your phone with.
But what I can already understand from what you are saying is that your present rom is already up to date and fully GPS enabled like every rom since april/may 2007, and even earlier for some branded releases of the Trinity, like dopod in Asia (february 2007) or Vodaphone (march 2007).
What you need now is two steps:
1) first of all make the settings icon of GPS showing up in your settings/connexions tab.
(there is a registry tweak to do that, or more simple, just use trinityhacks v0.3 that you can find by making a search on this forum)
2) find an application that uses GPS:
tomtom navigator, gps tuner etc.
You can try a free one for a start: GPS Test, that you can find by using google.
thank you for your help
from my new signature u can know now that i still have old rom that is not supporting GPS.
i bought my HTC from saudi arabia
i know that there is update to my rom as i contacted HTC support and they already inform me that i have an update but when i put my IMEI number in the support site they informed me that there is no update rom suites my version
I've got the whole picture now...
OK
1) your rom, radio rom etc. are too old to activate the GPS on your device
So you'll need not only an OS upgrade, but also a radio rom one.
2)
to go safe and use a rom that is allowed by your device's CID, you'll need an English ROM, unbranded, for HTC P3600.
The GPS enabled version of ROM is 1.23.X.X for the ROM, and 1.38.X.X for the radio.
You can find a link on this forum (rapidshare, megaupload etc. for en official English rom of that type.
I'll also have a look for you. I could upload my old ROM for you, but no luck, it's a French one, so not compatible with your CID.
3) if you are brave enough (but it's all under your own responsibility if you brick your device...) you can try that too:
- use 'trinity unlock' or 'SPL_trin' or the new one 'olibro'that you can find on this forum to allow other brands ROM installation.
- flash your device with the official dopod ROM SEA for South-East-Asia in English (that I am running myself at the moment).
I suggest you use the one without radio, spl-ipl, extended rom.
It's safe since there is no risk of conflict with your present device locks.
- then you upgrade your radio with radio 1.46.X.X also from the Dopod's ROM.
This is what I've done, without all the hassles and risks that brings the full ROM update when it's not official HTC P3600 release compatible with your CID.
A thread where they talk about the official upgrade you are looking for, in English:

An open link without registration that still works:

Here you go for English official
added in my last post
realy many thanks for you
i have downloaded the official rom and the new radio.
i will try to use them
again many thanks for your help
give us some feedback when you can
You're welcome.
It's a pleasure to help.
Don't forget to give us some feedback about your flashing process and result.
Once you've installed the new ROM, use trinityhacks to make the GPS visible and start using it, with 'GPS Test'. The GPS chip is not the fastest, so make sure you are outside, ideally with a good weather and not too many buildings over your head for the first try.
i will
thanks again
hi friend
i did upgrade my HTC P3600 TO
rom version 1.23.405.2
rom date 03/11/07
radio 1.41.00.11
protocol 32.74.7020.18h
extrom 1.23.405.103
BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT TO USE GPS
I TRIED TO USE TOM TOM NAVIGATOR BUT I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE THAT THERE IS NO ENOUGHT MEMORRY
THEN I USED OTHER SOFTWARES THAT ALL FAILED TO FIND GPS
THANKS AGAIN
Hello,
nice to hear from you again.
As I told you in my previous post, the first thing to do wasn't to use Tomtom, but to make your GPS show up.
I suggest you first do a hardreset, in order to erase all the GPS softwares installations that you may have failed in the meantime.
1)
For a start, you should have first use Trinityhacks to add the GPS icon in your settings/connexions tab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303657&highlight=trinity+hacks
(you could have found it yourself on the forum, by making a keyword search as I just did)
2)
After reboot, U'll see your GPS and check is settings that should GPD1 and most important communication port 9, plus its speed, expressed in bauds.
3)
after that, use a freeware called GPS Test (do a google search, u'll find it) and install it.
It will find itself your GPS on the right port. If it doesn't, just use the settings u've seen in the first step (com port 9 and highest speed you can)
4)
it should show looking for gps and then, gps starting up
it will search for a while before getting the fist lock (fix) on the sattelites)
when it starts, it's written 1D view, but when the fix is done, it will be 3D plus the location of the place where you are.
I suggested you to not start with tomtom from the beginning since it's not the easiest software to use with GPS, at first.
Some versions of tomtom does recognize the internal GPS without any special settings, but some doesnt, so you'll have to choose 'NMEA device' and then set it on the port com number 9.
But, try this freeware called GPS Test first, and tell me what it shows.
dear friend
thank you again for your help
really your are wonderful,
the GPS icon was shown by other way that i could find here in the forums by which i did some registery changes that showed the GPS icon in the connections.so i used this icon to adjust the com port to com 9 and to use intermediate speed.
then i used the navigon 6 program that i found how it use it in details in one Arabic forum
and it worked very nice with me.
i think i will not use tom tom again
thank you very much
Good news, you finally got your GPS up and running. Congrats.
Yes, the registry tweaks do just the same thing, and it's more challenging to do it that way, in the meantime you understand better how your device works.
I suggest (except if you've heard something different from your documentations) that you just let your GPS at its maximum speed, 115 200 bauds.
At the contrary, you can decide for each program using the GPS to set it to the full speed or to just use a part of it, but the GPS itself should be ready to give as much as it can.
I've never tried that software you mentioned. If it works so well, I might give a try sometimes. Thanks for the information.
i was informed to keep the speed at 57600 i will try to make it max
this navigon is simple to be used and a bit lite and has maps for some arabic countries
thanks again
Hi,
Firstly if this is in the wrong forum - appologies.
I have TomTom 6 and maps which I originally installed on my iPaq 4700, which has now died due to the touchscreen failing. Recently purchased a Wizard (from a popular auction site) and installed TT6 and maps no problem.
With my purchase was another supposedly dead wizard which I have manged to reflash with WM6 ROM and all is working fine (thanks to all the invaluable advise in the Wizard/WM6 forums!) which I now want to install TT6 on and uninstall from the other Wizard with a view to selling it.
The problem - TTcode website will not accept another device code so cannot activate maps. Spoken to TT who want everying including my inside leg measurement to activate (which I can understand however i have little chance of finding the original receipt).
Does anyone know how the device code is forumlated - ie If i flash the vanilla Wizard to WM6 will it change the device code?
Any help appreciated.
Thx
PS my version of TT6 is totally original - no hacks copies or dodgy downloads.

Ok did you read the howto flash a ROM on ARTEMIS?
If yes you probably saw a line that told you to flash twice your P3300.
It often resolve flashing problems. GPS usually use COM4
You can test with free GPS software or with Navio software.
COM Ports
I may be wrong but I seem to have a vague recollection that in the US, the original ROMs use COM9 for GPS (can anyone confirm?). Flashing to a new rom will have changed this to COM4 so you may just need to reconfigure your GPS settings in the individual applications.
Hey thank you for a quick response but i followed the rulles how to install and its still not working after many times please i you can send me a link with the Windows mobile 5 so i will try to reinstall the original WM that came with the phone thanks anyway

No, All HTC P3300 have got a GPS inside (it remember M$ pub ) only some P3300 haven't got Wifi inside.
You should forget about WM5. I said that I am pretty sure WM6 should work with your GPS.
I can give you a WM5 but it is French orange switzerland version
Was your Wm6 an original HTC WWE version?
NO its a custom something (I dont know) but for sure not an original one please if you can send me link off and World wide English official HTC manufacturing version and i would install it ASAP
Try this...
Start -> Settings -> System Tab -> Clock & Alarms
On Time tab, make sure your time AND time zone is set correctly
Start -> Settings -> System Tab -> Regional Settings
On Region tab, make sure your region is set correctly
Start -> Settings -> System Tab -> External GPS
On Program tab, make note of GPS Program Port
Download & Install VisualGPSce
http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/VisualGPSceInstall.CAB
Run Visual GPSce
Go to Connect -> Serial port
Set Port to that in "External GPS" setting above and Click OK
If the red dot in the bottom right flashes then your GPS is ok! You may just have to wait for a lock (look for QuickGPS too).

Hey when I try to install the ROM WWE after I press the update button it sends me in a white screen and than he gives me ERROR 260 means cant connect with the device what should I do
p.s. by the way my operation system is Vista so just let you know if there is any kind off significance to the subject
Darren.
When I try to install it without memory card he gives me new error after 2 percent says ''INVALID MODEL ID" this utility can't be use on your PDA ... bla bla bla ... !!! you have any king of advice hint or any kind off something helpful
Try hard reset
First you can try to hard reset your device (pressing the 2 soft key and reset at the same time) You will get a message, press the green phone button. If this does not resolve your problem... you can read first post in the forum, to learn how to flash a new ROM. Does your gps ever worked ?

Ok, the best thing to do is to CID unlock your device (I thaught you already done that)
Read this Thread carefully it will explain why!http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
Then use only this to CID unlock your device : http://rapidshare.com/files/119852558/Artemis_USPL.rar.html
After that reinstall the original HTC WWE ROM.
Your problems are from flashing from vista, there are a lot of threads about this, but basically you have to piss about untill you have found out how to install a bunch of old xp drivers and then no more 260 errors. When you have done that you can tell us all here just how you did it and post the drivers again because they are getting harder and harder to find.

You're likely just using the wrong version. You've probably been around here for a while so you know how using the search feature can be your best friend.
Go here and download this version...
New Tomtom 916.9189 Specifically for TP2 Released
good luck
Aaron,
Thank you for your post!
I tried installing the version listed on the link you provided but I get the following message "Unable to start. Not enough memory is available." I have 1 GB available on my memory card.
I currently have a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2(WM6.5) and my current version of Tom Tom,which prevents bluetooth from working , is 7.916.9189.
Thank you in advance to anybody with any useful information.

Don't worry this is some what of an easy fix. Just search tom tom back on the general page and this should get you going. Sorry i can't post the appropriate links since the search function is down for me. But feel free to try it later.
There's an easy way to fix this:
1) install the TomTom that stops bluetooth from working
2) install any DECENT file explorer program that allows you to see the dates on files (total commander, etc etc, there's plenty out there)
3) look in your phones \Windows folder and you will see 2 Bluetooth files that have been replaced by the TomTom install, with wildly out-of date dates (something like 2006, when all the rest of the \Windows files should be dated 2008 or more recent)
4) DELETE them both
5) soft-reset phone ( losing no data)
As the phone reboots, it will spot the 2 missing Bluetooth files & replace them with the correct ones from the ROM, bingo, normal bluetooth service is restored and TomTom still works
I have used this trick on both my old Kaiser and both my TP2S, many times when reflashign ROMS and reinstalling a known good working version of TomTom that had the BT bug, it always works 100%
Joe
Heres a treat.
ttn7.916.9189__black.cab
or
TTN7.918.9193.cab
both have the files that cause the problem pre removed. Enjoy
Hi I renamed the 2 offending files and got rid of the BTTrayCE.exe error but I can't start tomtom it just says not enough memory. Any ideas? (Sorry to hijack this thread btw).
