best software to play SAVED .flv files - Touch HD Themes and Apps

I looked at TCPMP mentioned here but it seems really outdated. Any other (even commercial) softwares that can play saved .flv files (downloaded with Youtube Downloader)?

I'm using CorePlayer for flv files (and other SD video) and Album for native H.264 HD videos.

this is going to sound really stupid ... but can u pls attach/link the version of core player with flash (.flv) support?? I did find somthing but just wanted to make sure I have the best possible version/software.
Also - can u tell me a bit more about when I should use Album? i.e. u mentioned native H.264 videos (are they in mp4 format?? I need to do more reasearch on that...
thzx!

TCPMP Codecs

I have downloaded TCPMP and I can only watch some files, the software tells me windows media audio and video are not supported. I am guessing I have to download some codecs but I am unable to find any. Is this true and if so does anyone know where to find these codecs and how to install (I am assuming install is easy)
codec
hi,
depending on the type of movie you you can use different codec's but i all way download mp4 or make movie fram dvd in mp4 format, as player i use tcpmp an the aac codec an that works like a charm!
share bear
the codecs to watch windows media files
hey,
welcome to the forum !
try and search for tcpmp 0.81 RC1. it's beefed up with all plug-ins and codecs you might need. i tried uploading it but i'm unable to for some reason. look in the forum, you just might find it - i think i found it here myself.
good luck !

how many of you use Divx Mobile to view avi/Divx files?

8GB micro SD cards are very cheap in Hong Kong - so I don't bother coverting files to mp4 or whatever that's compatible with HD. Instead, I just copy the whole seasons of TV series into HD and use it as PMP (my Archos 605 just died)
Getting Divx Mobile was easy enough (just have to register & download). But I noticed that it takes a while (lag) to skip. Also, when in full screen, it was grainy (pixexls) - not sure this is due to poor quality of original file (downloaded bt)...
Any other suggestions? I don't mind paying - but want the best video quality possible.
p.s. don't worry about battery life either: US$20 for a spare battery and I'm never far from a outlet (HK is just so tiny)
try coreplayer..
Try Coreplayer. its the best video player ive found so far. much faster then divxplayer
coreplayer is best. And htc's graphics are excellent

Like all the above posts....Coreplayer, the only app you need to view those common video formats.
I have found coreplayer to be very laggy myself....Media Player plays my HD files with no issues at all......I never could understand all the fuss
Coreplayer does not support grafic accelerator of HD. Native video player is better with suitable video properties.

I agree...!!!
actually I am a bit confused (very confused I think...)
I downloaded that Encoder - but it seemed like a tool for converting the formats (not a software installed on HTC to play movies) Correct me if I am wrong. So how does that help in anyway?? I am using core now (found a cab version with flash support - so it seemed convenient so far)
I'd like to try Encoder - I have seen many knowledgeable ppl talking about it so I must be missing something here... Why does converting help?? What does "native player is better" mean?? And how does Encoder make use of HTC hardware accelerators if it isnt even installed on HTC????
pls help...

Latest HTC devices have good video capabilities but 3rd party video players do not support this hardware (yet).
Album or Windows Media Player are meaned by native video player. But they have also some limitations naturally. You should have compatible frame rate and bitrate to get maximum performance.
So, the best way to see good video on Touch HD is to convert any video file with proper settings and watch it by album or Windows Media Player.
now i get it... tried it last night on SD setting. My 350MB file converted into 200MB file and played beautifully on Album.
thx guys for helping me see the light

hermes video viewing

sorry if this is the wrong place to post but i am a noob, is there a peice of software out there that can play all types of video on the hermes, if so were can i download it
Coreplayer or tmpc... Use search to find...
hey ... core player is what ur looking for. it can play any type of media without converting it .. eats some resources but its very worth it. it also has streaming support and everything. just google search it and ur there. hope this helps
thx so i can now watch anytype of video format and i dont have to convert it,but are all media file types the same size
If you are playing what I think you might be playing then even with Coreplayer the Hermes will not smoothly play standard definition stuff, i.e average 2.35 widescreen DVDRip done at 640*272 with Xvid around 1000kbps (Mgeg4-ASP). Don't even think about x264 films. (Mpeg4-AVC)
The Hermes screen is 320*240 so you will have to convert it.

[Q]Can we record video in MP4 format?

Hi,
I want to know whether I can record Videos in MP4 format in my DHD instead of 3GP. I feel compression in MP4 is much lessor than in 3GP and it will result in a better videos. Please let me know if there is any Mod/App to do this.
thanks...

Mp4 like 3gp is just the container. Actually the codec used for the video stream is the same as the one commonly used in mp4 files - h264. So the only benefit in recording in mp4 is compatibility, because mp4 is more widely spread across media players than 3gp. For instance my TV can play mp4 files via USB but not 3gp.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
And so ?
Any one found a solution ?
I'm interrested too and I'm currently browsing the web for a solution.
It was so easy to change the video format with the HD2.
Why have they make this choise of only 3gp ?
find a converter 3gp to MP4
Anyone found a solution for this?
I would like to record in MP4 because of compatibility issues with mediaplayers. Renaming the recorded files from .3gp to .mp4 works for me, but I don't want to do this manually.
This is the closest I've been so far (Replacing HTCCamera with Google Camera):

Important videos won't play back anywhere 720p

I recorded several very epic videos in 720p, they won't playback on my phone or pc! I used
Kingdom b1; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071547
and this camera app; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084195
I've tried vlc, windows media player, quicktime, and on my Evo I tried astro and the stock htc gallery app.

*edit*
Click the following link and if you have quicktime installed your browser will attempt to play the video.

not sure what your prob is. People running the same set up are having no probs. I did notice that the format looks like its 3gp. If it is 3gp that may be your prob and u need to either use a 3gp video playerthat can do 3gp like vlc or convert it to avi or mp4 format. The evo stock records in mp4 so maybe the camera app you are using can record in diferent formats.

Click the last link I included. The video does not playback. my question is, can I get it to work? And why isn't it working for me?

Try playing the video yourself.

Yeah tried playing it myself and does not work. Like i said b4 the video format that you have is 3gp and quicktime and most other players do not play that video format. If u want to play this with quicktime then u need to find a 3gp to mp4 video converter. I do not know why your video format is 3gp but that is your problem. Quicktime native compatible formats are AIFF, WAV, DV-DIF, MP3 and mp4, Also with addon components it can play ASF, DivX Media Format, Flash Video, Matroska, Ogg. So like i have said about three times already u need to convert the video from 3gp to mp4 or one of the native file formats quicktime supports. Here is a link to a pretty good converter http://download.cnet.com/AoA-iPod-PSP-3GP-MP4-Converter/3000-2194_4-10531870.html

My video's have always recorded in .3gp format. I can play back videos recorded in WVGA in .3gp but not 720p. Seems Kingdom b1 won't record 720p on my phone.
HW 004, if that helps.
And the video won't convert into anything else, renaming to .mp4 or .avi and so on doesn't help either.
