I have downloaded TCPMP and I can only watch some files, the software tells me windows media audio and video are not supported. I am guessing I have to download some codecs but I am unable to find any. Is this true and if so does anyone know where to find these codecs and how to install (I am assuming install is easy)
codec
hi,
depending on the type of movie you you can use different codec's but i all way download mp4 or make movie fram dvd in mp4 format, as player i use tcpmp an the aac codec an that works like a charm!

It can convert DVD Mpeg2 to what kind of format, AVI, WMV, or something?
Encoding output
Hi, the output format is MPEG 4, MS MPEG 4V2, WMV7 AND WMV8. I use core player (tcpmp).
TCPMP is the best

Did you try Core Media Player ?
hi, i have recorded 3 movie clips with my tytn, i have wm6 installed. i sent this movies to my macbook. now i tried to watch them. no chance, only vlc can play them but without sound. what the hell, why does this codec suck so much? i have tried it in media player, and quicktime in osx. they cant play it. it should be said that quicktime can play mpeg4 files, but what is mp4?
anyone knows what codec i have to install to convert it to another format?
and why ms cant play videos from their own mobile apps?
regards, chief
I have no problems playing mp4 on my PC. I have K-lte codec pack installed but I think ffdshow is the codec being used to play it.
Mp4 should be just seen as a container for the video and audio, like .avi or .mkv. I actually use mp4 to encode my files for my PocketPC and get great quality, the upside is that these files also play on other mobile devices; my girlfriend can play them on her Samsung U600.
You running a MS OS on your Mac?
yes, i have tried it in windows xp, but i have no codec packs installed. i think the problem is, that this is not a normal mp4, the video track is ok, but the audio track is identified as "samr".
wtf is samr?
gg
omg
think the only thing i need is this samr codec for mac. in the apple docs i found the information that quicktime comes with amr support, but i think samr is not amr, so i need this codec, anyone ere who can ell me rom where i can download this?
regards chief

Wich player can play MPEG2 from stream?
Want to watch my streams from the dreambox (wifi), coreplayer cant play this.
interesting subject....
coreplayer & kinoma don't have mpeg-2 codec
vlc player is so old and brakes strongly
tcpmp don't play stream also...
Pocket Player can play from stream. It is primarily an audio player but does a few simple video formats and codecs, even youtube flv. It probably does mpeg2.

You may try this: http://pockettv.com/
I haven't and don't know whether it works but they claim to support mpeg2.
I couldn't find how to play directly streaming media in FAQ !
Please report results if you try it !
Hello
is there any solution to play mpeg2 stream on HD ?
with coreplayer you can hear sound onl
Older version of TCPMP can play MPEG2
Yes, but it can take MPEG-2 streams.
It's old and does't support WM 6.5. Anyone pwiseeeee?
Even if it does the speed of the wifi is slow and you will have to wait to cache it... So copy paste it and play it from storage... or convert it to mp4 first.

i have purchased core player and despite numerous request and lots of tinkering i still cant get it to play anything smoothly
films just stutter along
im converting dvds i have ripped on pc to mpeg 4 files with encoder
a typical file is converted to 720 x400 all standard settings and it still just stutters and the audio is well out of synce
even the built in player does a better job of it (but thats not perfect
can some one suggest the best way to convert them to play on core player
and what settings they use to get it play smoothly
thanks for any help
If by mpeg4 you mean H.264 then your best bet is the built in player (be it WMP or Album) as coreplayer doesn't support H.264 hardware acceleration on the TP2 (most current Qualcomm chips to be exact). If you wish to use coreplayer use Xvid (or Divx can also be okay).
There's actually a review stating the best settings for coreplayer. I don't remember more than that at the moment. sorry. But good luck
can you recommend a good converter for converting vob and ts files into xvid
thanks
Pocketdivxencoder is what I use. It is a great application for converting videos. And I'm guessing from the vob and ts files that your converting from DVDs
I've always liked super video encoder from erightsoft. It's free so it's a good option to try out.
Hello guys,
Just a survey on which version of TCPMP you guys use for your device. Was trying different different versions and builts to see which one runs best. For starters, I used "TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-SUBTITLES-iriki-repack01.cab" which ran really smooth with SRT subs on a couple of roms (6.1 as well as 6.5) that I've tried. The downside is that I couldn't get it to play flv, and its not accepting the flv plugins I've put in.
Next, I tried the TCPMP 2009 Phenom Edition. Its plays avi with srt subs as well but its not as fast as iriki's repack, even when I use GDI. Frames were skipped and the audio doesn't seem to go along with the video. Again, it didn't play the flv videos I've downloaded from youtube.
I know this doesn't answer your question - but why on earth more people don't simply use Media Player I'll never know - I have used mp4's and the like with Media Player and they have played VERY well. Used TCMP before and not been impressed.

I was going to London over the weekend, and had just downloaded a couple of programmes that I watch on a weekly basis. I download AVI files, and normally bung them on a USB stick and watch them via my PS3. In this case, I simply copied them to the memory card in my HD and watched them on the train. Basically, it meant that I didn't have to convert the files in order to watch them with WM Player.
It plays more formats than WM Player, and is more configurable. It's not a knock to WM Player. It just does more.
Also, in fairness, TCPMP doesn't play WMV files well at all. You get about 1 frame every 3 seconds. I obviously use WM Player for them.
@Abubakar
I've not tried playing FLV files with TCPMP, but for youtube stuff I want to keep, I use www.keepvid.com, and download MP4s. I use v0.61 and don't have any issues with it at all - works a treat.
