Setup Instructions:
Run RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080408_WWE.exe
Reboot you device
After Reboot - Choose Voice Command
MS Voice Command will be the default voice command, so if you press cancel, it will be defaulted to MS Voice Command. However, If you do choose Cyberon Voice Command, you need to reboot.(Difference between these two kinds of voice command is that Cyberon voice uses voice-tags that you record, whereas ms voice command doesn't need you to record voice tags(but spoken language only support English)
After this, install the following has the keyboard has mapping problems:
eT9 with 14 languages suppport addon(spanish, french, german and italian)

Can someone tell me why whenever I use the USPL.bat and run all that crap on my phone, hit YES twice for haret.exe and all that, but the screen won't go black. It stays all white and I can't flash anything. Really getting on my nerves.

What I do for Flash this ROM:
run unlock.exe - for unlock the software
run the RUU exe
Everything else are "press any key", "Y/N", "Next" and that's all .
When the RUU exe works my screen is white.
EDIT: Haret is for official (no cooked) ROMS and maybe is not compatable with this rom

The easy way, in other words install T9 app copy to the Window directory and also install the JogBar app, check or uncheck mark the box "Enable xT9 input", soft reset your device OK, Click the "alt" key to get away from the chinese writting......!

How To Turn Your Device To English!
When you device comes back after you have installed the new 6.1 upgrade software, go to Start> Settings> #7(More)> #5(Regional Settings)> and change the Lanuage to: (US English), soft reset your device. When your device comes back up, it will be in (US English), but go back to the (Regional Settings) again, this time set the "Locale:" and set the "Short date style"! To write in English ( the easy way) install the T9 app to your device and copy it to the windows directory and install the JogBar App and check mark enable T9 text, soft reset your device, that's it..........!

Just make sure that once you hit enter and the screen on your phone goes white, you need to go to ActiveSync - Connection Settings - and disable USB Connections. Then proceed with setup.

first thing you have to do is install the application unlocker, then remove your microSD, then reboot your phone, then upgrade your phone

What are you trying to do exactly? Get the entry field/T9 in English? If that is your question, I didn't use the JogBar app was able to get mine in all English doing the following:
1) Hit alt-space when in some type of text-entry field.
2) Press up (Setup).
3) Select 2-EN (for English).
4) 'Display Candidates List' will pop up (Yes if you want them)
Then, when back in some type of text-entry field:
1) Hit alt-space, then
2) Press down on the pad (Lang), and
3) then Left (to select EN).
That worked for me. Make sure you have changed your regional settings in all areas as well and, as you mentioned, dropped the attached file into the windows folder.
Let me know if that works, if not, I'll rethink what steps I took.

The messaging shortcut (e.g. short_msg.lnk) is fixed to open up the text messaging. As I want the 'account picker' to be displayed, the link needed editing.
Here's the attachment. Just unzip and drop in your windows directory and replace the ROM's version. If you like it defaulting to the text messaging and don't care about the account picker, you don't need to do anything.

just use Accessories\Command Processor input:
LINK %W\short_MSG.lnk,tmail.exe,-service "SMS"
then press Processor
I've fix the MSG button in the original keyboard driver,so now you can map the MSG button to any app.just rename the app link name to short_MSG.lnk and put it into windows folder

Use this cab, and install to main memory. Fixed it for me although no items are shown in the PC Connection and Network Connection. I'm using it to tether while writing this e-mail. Cause I'm a chinese,in china Excalibur call DopodC720W,so i change the name to DopodC720W,you can OverWrite the ModelName.txt in Windows folder to change the Module Name.

I use Radio the same as HTC's last 1.33 official ROM.

[REF] Custom fonts for WM6.1 and HD TF3D

This is the final font changing manual (as far as i'm concerned), based on bhodgin's manual and KDiz additions and holyfox's tools.
I've only tested on a dutch Touch HD, so maybe the TF3D is built different.
There is quite a diference between my manual and KDiz's manual
I'm assuming the TF3D on the HD is different from the Diamond, hence the difference
So how did i do it:
First copy over all .ttf files from your Blackstones Windows folder to a backup folder somewhere
(turn on hidden and system files in Total Commander or Resco Explorer if you can't see them)
Now choose the font you want to use, i used Continuum (Regular, Bold and Light)
so i started off with 3 ttf files in a folder on my computer.
Make a subfolder and put copy's of your ttf files in it.
1 x light font file, 2 x regular font file and 2 x bold font file
Then rename them according to the following list (added -> to show what file impacts what):
fontname -> changes font in TF3D
cour.ttf -> TF3D light font
tahoma.ttf -> WM regular font (regular text)
tahomabd.ttf -> WM bold font (task and bottembar and other bold text)
neue Helvetica LT 35 Thin.ttf -> TF3D Regular Font (all the bigger title text in TF3D -> Calls, mail title, settings title, weather title etc.)
neue Helvetica LT 55 Roman.ttf -> TF3D Bold Font (all the small text in TF3D -> Appointmentsmail example, settings, weather)
Now you have the above files in your subfolder.
Now follow this procedure for every font:
open the ttf file in FontCreator.
go to Tools > AutoNaming.
Here you enter fontname, click 'Next'.
Another window will open, select 'Finish.'
File > Save
The fontnames you should put in are (i think you will understand wich name goes with what file ):
Courier New
Tahoma
Tahoma Bold
HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin
HelveticaNeue LT 55 Roman
IF YOU DON'T AUTONAME CORRECTLY IT WILL NOT WORK !!!
Now you have the 5 files in your folder.
Open WinCE CAB Manager. A window will pop up.
Go through the Wizard and fill in a name and cab name and accept the defaults.
Add the newly made .ttf files to the Files tab (open the tab through the Cab tree on the left side).
Select all of the files and rmb to properties. On the location tab select the Windows folder and Apply and OK.
It should now read %Windows% for all 5 files.
Save your CAB, copy to your phone, run it and it should work.
To be on the safe side, disable TF3D when installing the CAB and reset twice (needed sometimes, dunno why) after the install.
You could copy the TTF files manually to the \Windows folder instead of using/creating a CAB.
And here's how my first CAB looks (includes only the fonts):

[HOW TO REMOVE THE INSTALLED FONTS]
Preferably just uninstall the CAB.
The second option is to manualy delete the font files from your phone.
Just search for TTF in the Windows folder on your mobile (view hidden and system files on).
[KNOWN BUGS]
On the Weather tab the degree setting misses a number on some fonts.

The € sign isn't part of a couple of fonts so it doesn't work.
Make sure to have a font file with € if you create a font please !

all other fonts are correct but this one seems to be ignored, and the default helvetica comes up. So the question is: what's wrong in my font? Why manila doesn't display it as bold? as HelveticaNeue LT 35 Thin it works!

Thanks, finally I'm able to change the default fonts I followed the instructions and renamed and edited Trebuchet MS so I got the five fonts mentioned in the tutorial. It works very well, just one thing doesn't change: when I go to Start->Settings, the font of the tabs (where it says "personal | system | connections") is still the original one How can I fix this?

can someone post all of the default font files? i really dont want to HR and copy the files and then restore my backup ;-)

I've got the exact same problem.
So I thought, I'll just copy the font I want into the windows folder with this name - But then things went to hell and for some reason I was not able to write anything but numbers - only if I choose the normal "keyboard".
With the original "phone keyboard" I had problems writing letters.
Anyone know how I could fix this?

[Manila Mod][23-Jul-2009] 4 Columns Manila Start Menu/Programs Tab & All Programs

Intro:
Basically, this mod puts 4 columns of icons in the Manila Start Menu and All Programs page. Check out the screenshots below.
Big thank you to 6Fg8, sztupy and Chainfire for their Manila editing tools.
Requirements:
This mod is made for Manila (TouchFlo 3D) versions 2.0 and 2.1 only.
To check the version go to the settings tab in TouchFlo, at the bottom there should be "About" and "TouchFLO 3D" followed by the version number.
If you have any problems with this mod please report your full Manila (e.g. 2.1.xxxxx or 2.0.xxxxx) version, the device and ROM you are using.
This is for WVGA devices only. For VGA devices there is a VGA version made by JVH3.
UPDATE 27/07/2009:
Added a troubleshooting section to the post. Made a fix for the StartMenu/PrograsTab crash bug (see troubleshooting below). Fixed bug with Spike's 4 Columns All Settings (new cab attached).
UPDATE 23/07/2009:
The Programs Tab is now supported. I've tweaked the layout specifically for the Tab view.
For those who want it, I've also included a way to activate the OldStartMenu+ProgramsTab by using files from the Addons.zip.
Addons also include cabs to extend the number of items. See below for more info.

Instructions:
Download the 4ColumnsStart&AllPrograms_v1.1.cab and run it on your device.
If you have a problem installing it, try turning off TF3d (Settings->Today), instaling the cab and then turning TF3D back on.
You can also get 4 columns in All Setting (WM6.1) by installing Spike's 4 Columns All Settings.cab - Screenshot.
Known issues for Manila 2.0:
The mod works well on Manila v2.0, but with two limitations: the item number extension add on cabs don't work (see Addon section below) and some item names are aligned to left instead of centered. Unfortunately this can't be resolved because its a limitation of Manila 2.0. Manila 2.1 doesn't have these issues.
Troubleshooting:
-Can't install the cab even after turning off TF3D.
-> You can try manually installing it. Download the files: Manual install files. Copy the manila files to \Windows (overwrite existing files). Import the .reg file to registry. Then soft reset or just restart Manila.
-Start Menu or Programs Tab crashes (TF3D restarts) after you install the mod.
-> Use this fix: CrashFix. Import the .reg file to registry. Then soft reset or just restart Manila.
-All Programs page gets messed up after soft reset
-> This can happen if Max TF3D Theme Maker is installed. To fix it go to \Windows\Startup and remove Shake.lnk and ThemeChanger.lnk (this will disable those functions of MaxTM). You should still be able to use MaxTTM but you will have to reinstall this mod every time after using MaxTTM.
-Manila 2.0 specific: Extra items you can't use
-> With Manila 2.0 you can only have up to 24 items. After installing this mod you'll have 26 but you can't use the last two. If you want to delete the unusable items go to reg key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\" and delete numbers 30 and 31 (or anything above 23 - key number 0 is the 1st item and 23 is the 24th item, number 24 is the 25th item etc.).
-Black text on black background in All Programs page
-> While the default Manila secondary screen is white with black text, some branded Manila variations (e.g. T-Mobile) have this reversed (white text on black background). To correct this download WhiteText_AllPrograms.zip and copy the manila file to \Windows. Then soft reset or restart Manila.
AddOns:
These are optional extras.
Make sure you install the main 4ColumnsStart&AllPrograms.cab before using any of the addons.
Note: The Extend_to_48_Items and Extend_to_64_Items cabs only work with Manila 2.1. Don't install them on Manila 2.0.
The addon.zip file contains the following:
OldStartMenu+ProgramsTab.reg - This will activate the old Start Menu and Programs Tab.

Try turning off Manila and then uninstalling it. (Turn off TF3D from Settings->Today.)
The mod was made specifically for Manila Start Menu, not Programs Tab.

I honestly didn't expect it to work well on Manila 2.0 without any modifications (given all the start menu specific problems when mixing different manila file versions). I'm very glad that its working well

Seems the programs tab is causing some trouble. I'll look into that and try to fix it as soon as possible. For now uninstall the cab.
Can you tell me the full version number of your Manila? (For example mine is 2.1.38158.5)
And if anyone else has trouble, report the full Manila version and ROM that you are using it on.

I've updated a few things now and I hope this will solve the problems on some Manila versions.
Anyone who couldn't get this mod to work please try the attached cabs.
First try just type1. If that doesn't work try type2. Please report if it worked and if it did, was it type1 or type2.

4ColumnsStart&AllPrograms_v1.1beta_type1.cab & 4ColumnsStart&AllPrograms_v1.1beta_type2.cab were attached here.
Thay're outdated now so I removed them. See first post for latest version.

i confirm that type1 works perfectly on dutty's 3.9 xt turbo rom (manila 2.1.38158.5)!!!

A little Aestetic detail
I think it would be more coherent to have the same size of icons in the Start Menu page and in the All Programs page.
Now the All Programs page's icons are a bit too small in my opinion, and I already played around with this "problem" before:
I think I'd rather see more of the icon graphics than of white background, if we have more space.
Nevertheless, this might just be my personal subjective viewpoint, are people happy enough with smaller icons?

confirmed that it works with L3.55. I installed Dharvey's cab to change from the new start menu to a program tab in manila, then applied type 1 cab... it works like a charm without the startmenu activated problem previously with spike's & cookie's version..

Hi all! I am looking now since awhile now for a possibility to change the windows mobile start menu to manilas programs tab. Maybe I am thinking too complicated or I am searching for the wrong thing.
I would like touching the start button and the manila programs tab should popup or manila should be shown and change to the programs tab. There are a lot of cabs in this forum about the start menu but I could not figure out what I have to do in case of windows mobile 6.5.
I am using Miri’s WM 6.5 23009 V 24.0 rom. Can anyone direct me to the right threat or cab? It would be perfect if I could combine the 4 columns mod with it.

I made it this way because in my personal view:
-It looks cleaner and less cramped.
-Older icons are 64x64 pixels or less so making them any bigger just stretches them and they lose quality (e.g. on my screenshot in first post: Email Scheduler, AE Button Plus, Google Maps).
But that's my opinion, and if the majority feels this should be changed I'll change it.

You need to have support for it in the ROM, specifically the ROM should have the "Enlarge Start Menu" service cooked in. You should ask Miri about it.
It can be done on WM6.5 ROMs, for example I know that Dutty's WM6.5 R5 & R6 have it as well as the app "Tom Menu Extender" which can be used to easily switch between WM6.5 Start Menu and Manila Start Menu.

While I iron out the bugs in the beta version, here is a separate cab for Spike's changes for the All Settings menu. (It works perfectly regardless of any bugs in my StartMenu/ProgramTab/AllPrograms mod.)

Usung the font .ttf is a good thing to have a good and beautiful display.
However not everyone would like to install a 22MB file to the phone.
But I find out that the loading time of the menu is related to the HTC_MENUS.bmp size. So it is better for qvga machine to use the qvga one as the HTC_MENUS required is with a small size i.e. 100kb/

- Add .cab that menu without arrow (VGA/WVGA only) from http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=60620.
I tried the cab, but there is still arrow on the menu.
- Support winmo 6.5 by adjusting the cab (VGA/ WVGA only)
HTC Rhodium 6.5 Menu Enhancement.cab from dharvey4651 It seems that the cab made for winmo 6.5 will be without arrow.
All the cabs from dharvey4651 are not workable. Therefore, i cannot adjust it.

I think the character block problem is due to the font htcmenu uses, which doesn't include Chinese characters.
Simply, in regestry, just change the current font used in htc menu (or other programs have the issue) to microsoft Yahei or any fonts that you've installed to support Chinese. Then do a reset, and the problem will be fixed!
This is how I fix this issue no need to install additional cabs

For eastern language user, such as Chinese, Japanese, Arabian, may counter difficulty in displaying correct character in X2 based rom's dialer, or rom's using X2 softwares. It always displays character with a square frame. Solutions are as followed:
1.Locate to \\Windows\Fonts, rename and delete both SoMARoman.ttf and SoMABold.ttf, then reset. If it doesn't work, proceed to the following steps.
2.For Chinese users like me to have CE-Star installed, simply import registry file in the attatchment;
3.For other user not likely to have CE-star installed, or using other language platform, just copy your own language default font file in to your device's \\windows\fonts folder (eg, font file name is sunglobe.ttf, which font's name is UniSun). Then add the following registry entries by using PHM or other registry editor, of course, to your mobile phone, not your PC. Locate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink" and add:
"SoMA Bold"="\\Windows\\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
"SoMA Roman"="\\Windows\\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"

For eastern language user, such as Chinese, Japanese, Arabian, may counter difficulty in displaying correct character in X2 based rom's dialer, or rom's using X2 softwares. It always displays character with a square frame. Solutions are as followed:
1.Locate to \\Windows\Fonts, rename and delete both SoMARoman.ttf and SoMABold.ttf, then reset. If it doesn't work, proceed to the following steps.
2.For Chinese users like me to have CE-Star installed, simply import registry file in the attatchment;
3.For other user not likely to have CE-star installed, or using other language platform, just copy your own language default font file in to your device's \\windows\fonts folder (eg, font file name is sunglobe.ttf, which font's name is UniSun). Then add the following registry entries by using PHM or other registry editor, of course, to your mobile phone, not your PC. Locate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink" and add:
"SoMA Bold"="\\Windows\\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
"SoMA Roman"="\\Windows\\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun"
Content in bold character is based on your situation, while I am using Chinese font to link my system file. You can change the value above to your font's file name and your Font's Name.

just by installing ce-star won't solve the issue, try for yourself, maybe only occurs in jeperlea's rom.
anyway, the reason is SE x2 dialer define its own character in \windows\fonts with two font files, which in charge of displaying both in dialer itself and its contact list. so either we rev-engineering the .dll file, or we change the fontlink entries. i'm noob so i choose the easiest way

Hi. I don't know why my dialer is in chinese interace. Like...all the buttons are in chinese and the time in the call logs shows chinese too.
Is there any way to change the interface language back to English?
