R/W Hebrew for Excalibur!

I've been playing around with my new HTC S620 for the past few days. Since I ordered it from Hong Kong I didn't have Hebrew on the device. Finally, after some work I managed to make the device read and write Hebrew correctly
The attached .cab file which I made works with the WM 6.5 * 3VOLUTION SERIES * ROM. The only thing you should be aware of is that in order to write in Hebrew you have to choose "Greek" from the language menu. It's not really Greek, it'll write in Hebrew. I made the keyboard layout file like a standard PC Hebrew keyboard with one difference: the letter "ף" is on the "W" key. You can change the layout by editing eT9.Excalibur.0408.kmap.txt in the Windows directory (notice! the 0408 file, not the 0409).
Please be aware! Anything that happens to your device is at your own risk. I take no responsibility!
Setup:
1 ) Install the attached .cab file.
2) Go to the device Settings and in Regional Settings change the Locale to Hebrew.

Ummm, I can't find Hebrew in my regional settings & I my font's been enlarged after I've installed the cab, how do I sort this? I'm using Kavana's 6.1

so in which rom we can use it

To open the keyboard language menu you have to pess Alt+Space (or FN+Space) in a writing space. There you go to Language and choose "Greek". You will be able to type in Hebrew.
As for the Kavana 6.1 ROM I don't know. I only tested this .cab on my WM 6.5 * 3VOLUTION SERIES * ROM. I edited the .cab file to work with that ROM with the way the ROM's registry is built.
As for the 24h clock not showing both numbers it's because of the font.

Mine is "Titanium_320x240.cpr" and there are some setting in the file for the clock that you can edit and maybe fix the problem. I will post a solution once I figure it out.
The reason the system's font looks big is because I had to change the font to Tahoma so you'll be able to read and write in Hebrew. In order to change the size of the font for the Start Menu, the pop-up Menus, the Programs window and so you have to change the following registry keys:
HKLM\System\GDI\SYSFNT (System Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\BarFnt (Start Menu Bar Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\PopFnt (Pop-Up Menus Font)
HKLM\System\GWE\OOMFnt (Out-Of-Memory Font)
For each of these you will find the same keys. The only two you have to change in order to change the font size are "Ht" and "Wt" keys. "Ht" will change the size of the font and "Wt" will change the boldness of it.
You will notice that in most of them the "Ht" will be 4294967280. What you have to change is only the last number of the value. 0 being the largest and 9 being the smallest in the range of these two numbers. So for the smallest font size for example you change the value to 4294967289.
As for the "Wt" value you will notice most of them are "400". 400 is the standard font weight. If you change it to 700 it'll be bold. With this one you'll just have to play to find the boldness that suits you. You can change it to 400, 500, 600, 700.
If anyone wants a different Hebrew font than Tahoma for the system, let me know!

24h Clock Fix
I managed to fix the clock problem. You have to edit the theme's .cpr file.
Open "Titanium_320x240.cpr" (Windows folder) in Notepad. Search for Layer ID="ClockExpanded". Look down a little and look for "<!-- Time -->". in the line below it you have to find where it says FontSize=xx (mine was set to 27).
I changed it to FontSize=24. The clock shows all numbers now!

Thanks for letting me know, I actually still don't use the phone because I just got it so I didn't get the chance to try the contact list. Seems like there isn't an option to change the typing language when searching for contacts. I will look into it and see if it's possible to do it somehow. Maybe using an alternative software that supports that feature is a possible solution.

I don't have this problem. When you press the Alt+Space (Fn+Space) to open the language menu make sure you also click the XT9 button. That turns on the auto-complete words mode. It's off in the ABC mode.

Any smaller font so I won't have to go through these complications? I always have problems with messing with the registries

i opened Titanium_320x240.cpr with notepad and
i used rescu explorer to write the Titanium_320x240.cpr
onto the one in windows folder
( file is read only )

Great News!
I updated the .CAB file to work with the latest 3VO ROM, Version 3! (Go back to the first post to download the updated file)
Better install the .CAB after a clean install of the new 3VO ROM. Backup the pim.vol file located in the root directory before flashing the new ROM to backup your contacts and schedule.
Don't forget to change the Locale to Hebrew after install.
For those of you interested in a way to search contacts in Hebrew I use an alternative contact list software that supports language switching:
iContact Burt Edition 6.4.5.

I also installed 96dpi, and together the "big font problem" is solved.
Till now, they seem to work well together!
I have one question: the mac has what is called a qwerty hebrew keyboard, where the keys correspond approximately to the sound or the shape of the letter.

I can't take credit for the images. I took most of the images from the Internet and modified some of the original manila files e.g. I've added reflection to the three stock images and one of the footprint images (only the one on the bar and not the images on the selector and settings page).
Use the cab or copy the individual manlia files from the zip to the windows folder on your device.

How did you manage that? maranello's cab creator doesn't work for 2.5 tab icons.

puting manila files in cab
that's a trick
I didn't load any wallpaper but went directly to create cab
then I selected the folder with my manila files in the left part and pushed he button [add files] and they appeared at the right part.
did not select wallpaper or anything else just created the cab (and renamed it).
but I found an even better way here:

it does more than only copy files. it can do registry entering too
that's great!
now I can change the color of the taskbar too.
When I've figured out how the wallpapers are working in manila 2.5 I want to post a complete (more or less) theme on OSX style.

Hi there,
Is there a slider with OSX icons for Wm 6.1 TouchFlo 2.0
I just got my phone (HTC Diamond 2) & would love to have the OSX icons, but don't know how to get them.
These here do not work in my device and the HDWall Slider part does not work, calling me not have proper version of .NET framework (I updated it to as fresh version as possible).
Please, help me guys if you would have a moment.
Would very much appreciate your help.

Did not know, that it does not work for others as well

unfortunately HTC changed the *_manila files with the different manila versions.
I think that's why it is so difficult to make a skinning application like HDwal.

Hi There,
When I changed to a new rom I found out that version 1 of my theme didn't work. The images had to be rearranged in to a new size.
So I did that and made some other changes too.
In version 2 a slider bar is included to get a more OSX stylish look.
Some of the newer HTC icons were already with reflection and I must say that I like some of them better than the icons I put into V1.
The newer manila 2.5 has an added feature, namely the date on the calendar Tab icon. So I kept more of the original icons in this new version.
The guitar is also a bit bigger.
Tip: rearrange the tab order to have the music tab in view on your home tab for easy (direct) access. [home; messages; mail; calendar; music]
In post #1 are a zip file and a cab available.
(the zip includes the png-files)

I don't know which manila files to use. I've gone from manila 1.3 directly to 2.5.
But the images can be found on my deviant (link in my signature).
PS did you try the v1 cab? maybe you're lucky and it works.

I have found the solution to make High Quality wallpaper in 2.5.191xxx HTC Sense!
This solution let you have your own HQ wallpaper as default wallpaper and weather animation at the same time.
First you need a wallpaper with résolution 480x768(1),if you don't have it then resize HD wallpaper 480x800 into 480x768.
you need also the 2 manila files 4bfcbbee_manila(512x512 png file) & 54612042_manila (512x256 png file).
create new file with size 512x515(3) and very important with resolution"95,987"pixels!!!
Take your wallpaper(480x768) and from the upper side cut it in 480x515 and paste image in the new file you have made before on the left side,you will have empty area on the right side, then resize the file into 512x512.
Ok first image file is ready to replace in 4bfcbbee_manila file(with m9editor),be shure to unckeck "read only" in properties of the manila file first or you can't replace the image file in it,when the image file is replaced with m9editor then recheck "read only" before you copie it back in your windows folder!
Now the second file,follow the same steps as for the first file but cut your wallpaper from the bottom into size 480x256.
create new file with size 512x256(2) and very important with resolution"95,987"pixels!!!
Take your wallpaper(480x768) and from the bottom side cut it in 480x256 and paste image in the new file you have made before(512x256) on the left side too then it will look like this:

When the device as restart then choose weather wallpaper and enjoy HQ wallpaper as default wallpaper
Here you have a screenshot with the result,i use Max Theme ultimate but its working without too.
I have work a long time on it to find this solution!

there is an easier way to do this. When you select the marquee tool you notice (in the options bar) the option 'Style' which is probably set to 'Normal'. If you set this to 'Fixed Size' and type in 512x256 you have the exact size in one image (This is the correct way of making a perfectly sized marquee area.)

When i try to copy the manila files to my windows folder it says i dont have permission to do this.The files are read only and when i try to change the attribute, nothing changes. Any ideas?

I mean the files on the windows mobile device. I cannot overwrite them prolly because they are read-only, but when i change their attributes they are still read-only.

Actually you can - even for 2.5.192xxx but you have to install grzegorz10_Background4all_Tabs-Manila_1920.CAB first, then select the manila 2.5 profile in the hdwalls settings. Then you have to install the cab and select weather wallpaper. Unfortunately for now i cant get it to work 100% correctly - i get black stripe on the right side of the screen - its like the size is not entirely correct, but i have the same problem using your method so it may be something related to the rom im using(or the all tabs background cab im using) or something like that - i have to check some stuff and figure this out.
edit: i measured the black bar on the right side of the screen and its width is exactly 29px

Sencity icons for NRG roms...
Sencity icons for NRG roms...
Here are the first 141 icons with names to much the NRG roms.
I have to make some more to have the full set
There is no need to use icon changer to apply them ... just copy the files to \windows folder.
After that you must use SICC to clear the manila cashe so the new icons appear.
I will continue to make and the rest of the icons to have all of the NRG roms icons in this collection

Just another question, i have the small clock with the weather on the right, the bottom bar that shows max and low temps its to small, and max temp of the day stays out of the bar, is it possible to use or make a big bar in this mod?

For softkeys
go Startmenu/settings/today and select theme energy 2008
For the weather bar i think its a bug on the sencity theme.... select another weather/clock view...
If they dont fix it in the next version i will try to fix it

Yes, if select another clock its ok like yours.
I've already tried the themes 2007 and 2010, tried now 2008 soft reset but looks like 2007, the buttons don't look like yours.

Can you post the file(s) with the gray bubble for the sense messaging tab and lockscreen, please? Mine's still blue
Have you noticed that, when you have a new message, if you go to the messaging tab, the alert bubble remains under the slider? I wonder if this is a bug, or is it supposed to be like that?

Probably its a bug ...sencity its not complete....
Here is the file for the black and white bubbles
Remove the .txt from the end of the file name (its a manila file) and...
Copy to \windows folder with total commander
As always keep a copy of the original

This is weird... With your first set of icons, for example, the icon from PIM Backup was changed after copying the files to \Windows folder, and now, with the full set of icons it remains with the original icon that NRG placed in is ROM
EDIT: Found the problem for this... Some of the icons aren't replaced in \Windows folder, and both remain theme, the original and the one from your iconset, but the name of one of them is in CAPS, like this: startpim.png (the original) and STARPIM.PNG (the one from your iconset)... Any solution for this? I copied the files with Total Commander! Copying them with Resco File Explorer gives this error (with one of the unchanged icons): "Cannot copy file 'startie.png'. System cannot write to specified device."

ha ha .. i all ways forget something ...this was the one...
I will fix the folder problem m8... and i will post the new icons here...
For the copy of the files i allways use the Resco Explorer and never had any problem like this...
if the problem is still there after softreset let know and i make a mortscript for you to auto copy the files.

Gone flash the ROM again, maybe something went wrong (I did make a HR after flash, but who knows...)
EDIT: After a preliminary investigation LOOOOL, the guilty files are: STARTRDP.PNG, STARTRS.PNG, STARTWCM.PNG... These files do not replace the original icons, and after being copied to the \windows folder can not be deleted, although the original file is also present and not replaced as it should be...

Check those files to see if the are read-only and if they are change the option and then copy...

after ICS, Google started to use Roboto as android's default english font. so I found 6 types of style here ：
/system/fonts/Roboto-Bold.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Italic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Light.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-LightItalic.ttf
/system/fonts/Roboto-Regular.ttf
before you replace these, you need to know the font's classification, someone complained that when repaced the Roboto-Bold.ttf, the device restart into boot-loop, I think maybe that was because u replaced a BOLD style with a REGULAR one (android2.3 dones't check this).
FontCreator-6.5-pro(which i use) can change the font's properties.
for example, change a Regular font into Bold, here is the steps:
1、open a regular font(most of fonts in http://www.fonts2u.com/ are regular style) with the FontCreator;
2、Format(in the menubar) -> settings -> Classification;
3、change the "Weight" value into "Bold";
4、change the "Width" value into "Medium(normal)";
5、only tick off a single bold in "Font Design(windows)";
6、only tick off a single bold in "Mac Style".
7、save it and u can use it to replace the Roboto-Bold.ttf file.

How to change the LockScreen Digital Clock Font?
/system/fonts/AndroidOpia.ttf seems no longer be used in Jelly Bean(which android 2.3 use it as LockScreen Clock Font)
so you need to replace those three files to change the lock clock font:
/system/fonts/AndroidClock.ttf
/system/fonts/AndroidClock_Highlight.ttf
/system/fonts/AndroidClock_Solid.ttf
those three files are totally same, and only contains 16 chars: not_def, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, M, P, :, space, 0.
u can edit the original to replace the chars in sequence.(use FontCreator6.5pro)

the attachment fonts was tested in my Nexus 7.

Looks like you need to be rooted for that. Or you can use ssLauncher, add any font you wish, and use throughout your screens. True, doesn't change in-app fonts, but typically those are very readable. Sample of ssLauncher, with app folder and Quickpic in Segoe bold (tilted at 4 degrees) and page title in Jokerman. Touching anywhere on camera launches camera app. Root not required.
If I were rooted I'd change system fonts too!

system fonts replacing
Can I just replace a Roboto-Regular.ttf ? I replaced that font file with my Unicode font and when I reboot my nexus 7 , it was in boot loop, so I have to reset to factory and re-root it again. Now I am afraid to do it again Can someone explain it to me what happen please?
I changed the system font with Rom toolbox app and I can read my Unicode font on fire fox but on google and gmail, gtalk , whatapps etc my fonts are miss place. what do I need to check or read about it? I have high-logic FontCreator too.

I, however, found no less than 12 different 'Roboto' fonts. So I edited a new set of my favorite one, 'Rehotalko' using FontCreator, and used the properties of each as instructed in the OP. It was a little laborious, but it worked like a charm!

i used this thread as a guide and changed like literally every font everywhere to Anke Sans haha on my GNex running XenonHD 9.5 (a 4.2.2 rom)
All the fonts mentioned above plus the RobotoCondensed versions.. AND opened up my DeskClock.apk and overwrote the fonts in the /assets/fonts directory (making sure the classifications matched) then adb pushed the DeskClock app back to /system/app and presto worked great! i appreciate the tips above to make it all happen!

I am still having a hard time changing font of minutes. All the rest seem to have been changed but not the thin font for minutes.
Any suggestion? I tried to follow your steps and will still see what happened.
I was able to change the minutes, however, they it was not properly aligned with the hour.
I am using FontCreator 6.5. ANy suggestion? Thanks!

yeh i never figured out the alignment issue either, i tried a few different fonts and it cut off no matter what so i just try to not let it bother me haha

I'm guessing you would have to decompile apk's and edit xml files.
