So the speaker at the top of the phone near the earpiece has a tiny blinking LED, which blinks.... for god knows what reason.
Me being somewhat easily distracted and startled, having the phone on my desk and blinking at me at regular intervals drives me insane.
I currently have the latest 3vo ROM. I've searched all over, and having found NUELed and LED Killer, neither of which work in this case. A registry fix also failed to disable the LED.
Please assist, Im going slowly insane.
Look for Dont Forget cab
just tried DontForget, goes into options, but upon "apply and exit"
gives an error which states "error initialising LEDs" (sic)
you could always stick a hot needle into it and melt through the plastic and break the led discreetly... i'm not recommending it but if you really want it gone for good...
I am considering shooting the phone
so i have since tried... nueled2, 1.5b, 1.5 and another something i cant recall.
Anyone have any ideas whatsoever for the tmobile dash?
im at a loss here
Turn the phone over!
Or put a bit of tape on it dealt with.....
Use black permanent marker on it.

I'd donate my kidney's but not sure if they will make the light dark?
What color is the blinking LED? It could be the blue tooth is on and searching for something.
why not dissassemble, disconnect, and reassemble...? just watch those pesky clips (they like to break)
its the fun green blinky led that indicated the phone has a signal. not the bluetooth one that is.
If i turn the cell radio off, it goes away.... but thats not an acceptable solution
I never had that one blink. It sounds like something was added to the rom your using or another 3rd party app is causing this.

What you don't have a green flashin light that shows service "signal"? Are you running WinMo
yea from everything ive read, nearly all the HTC winmo phones have this, and nearly everyone hates it.
dude im serious if you're 100% positive you dont need it and might want to sell it in the future just shove a white hot sewing needle through it that was heated with a lighter.
Is not that big of a deal, really. If you hate it that much , just go and buy some women's black nail polish, and carefully give it a couple of coats, until you don't see it anymore.

Hi all
Just got my new unlocked One X today, but already I have problems with the software, Back, Home and Apps buttons lights going out out.
They seem to come on and off when ever holding the handset at a strange angle or position. Is this normal or is there a setting that needs to be changed to stop this from happening, or more likely the handset has a fault.

I am not sure about this but I never noticed this while on 1.26. Someone "complained" about it and I noticed this on 1.28. The 3 button led light only come on at night. So they are now sensitive to ambient light. Try to cover the front top part and you will see them come on. Remove your hands the led's go off.
But as said, I am not sure if it was like this when I was on 1.26. Didn't take any notice of that.

u can adjust the sensitivity with a rooted device but that is another story for another day.

I was thinking the same thing. They are defo run on light sensor but it is too aggressive. If there is a small lamp on in a normal size bedroom they go out yet the light is no where near enough bright enough to see the buttons with out their lights on. Its making me have to send the phone back. Oh well SIII here I come..Pity! :-(

I have just had similar problem except my light stayed on, if I held it, the software buttons would flicker on and off and if I tilted it backwards would dim, even stayed on when phone was turned off. HTC tech said that it was faulty and the phone is being replaced.

For Venom-ROM I found it searching the Tweaks. Go to "Button" and set "Capacitive Backlight" to "Never " and they´re always on, when your screen is on. There are some 9 differeint steps to control the sensitivity.

This is my first thread so forgive if i put it in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where it should go.
So did the usual phone user mistake and dropped (threw) my phone. cracked the screen pretty good. I've messed with phones for a while now so i purchased a new screen and digitzer and tore down the phone. pulled the old screen off, replaced it with the new and everything was good as new. ran some tests with video and quick touches as well as multi-touch and zoom. everything worked great but i have no vibrate. the phone can be put into vibrate mode but it doesnt vibrate. i tried factory reset, though i figured it was hardware and not software. If anyone who has torn down these phones knows anything about the vibrate can you please guide me into fixing this?
On a side note, i also broke a little golden clip off the inside later when tinkering trying to fix the vibrate (im pretty sure it completes the circuit for sound because now i have no sound).
Bump. Sorry but this is kind of urgent. does anyone have any ideas on this?

It is possible that the connector came loose. Try checking that. The motor could have also been damaged so it make need to be replaced.

Wanted to show you guys a mod I just finished on my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36994299&postcount=242
I will post instructions for anyone that wants to know how to do it. I just need a better camera to take the pictures with.
This is pretty convenient for females that use larger purses to store their phones as well as for leaving it laying about in a dark room. I always end up searching for my phone in the dark on or around my bed. It keeps me from having to get up to turn on a light. It also works even when the phone is turned off. I have not seen any extra drain on the battery either.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO TO YOUR DEVICE
Parts list.
2 wires of any color from a USB cable about 6 inches in length. You will not use all of the length but it helps to have more than needed and to cut them to fit right. You will need them to be thin. I used black (Negative) and white (Positive).
100ohm resistor. Will take a touch of brightness away but the mod works like a charm.
3.5 mm LED
Wire cutters
Dremel tool
Electrical tape.
You will need to cut the hook for the strap and dremel it down. This is where the LED will sit. put electrical tape in place. THIS IS IMPORTANT. This area will have exposed aluminum.
Also, as seen in the second photo, you will need to cut the small section out to allow for the wires to fit properly.
Pic 3 shows where I soldered my wires for power. looks horrible, but the flux is not all that great. Your positive lead is on the right and the negative is on the left as shown in the picture. Nothing is soldered to the middle lead.
In the 4th picture you see the resistor. That is the only place I could fit the resistor because I did not have any SMD caps that I could use. It will be places in the little crevice under the vibration motor.
You will want to run the wires under the SD cradle to make sure they fit well.
I cannot say exactly where to put the 3.5 mm hole in the battery cover as each will be slightly different. I got lucky with my placement.
Surprised no one has said anything to this yet.
Looks really cool and interesting. I might take you up on this depending on the difficulty and amount of time I have!!
Hopefully you can find a better camera to take pictures with.

Not this LED. I would either need a tri-LED or a dual and a pin-out of the entire mobo as well as a reason to have it change colors. The wiring needed and extra components would probably not fit though...

Can't wait! I think the tri-color LED thing could pretty sweet. As long as you have the white LED light, then the other colors are just for convenience
Ran into a little problem... Apparently 3.7 volts is too much for the led to handle for more than a few days. So I am calling in some help with this. I broke my voltmeter so I can't test for what resistors/diodes I need to keep the current down and keep the LED on. I need it to be at 3.3v for the LED. My best bet is to use a SMD as it is small and will fit perfectly within the phone. Does anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Fixed it. I ended up going through resistors with trial and error. Ultimately came to a 1 OHM resistor. Had to completely rework the wires in the unit. I had to sacrifice just a tiny bit of brightness but it is still very effective. Also, it does not put off the heat like it did without the resistor. I am very confident that this LED will last. I will be posting pictures tonight. And a simple walk through and parts list.
Interested in them pictures lol.
That's a pretty neat mod. Did you wire it so the LED is on constantly, or is it tied to the front notification LED?
Also according to a LED calculator I found here, you only need about a 22ohm 1/8W resistor for a LED with a forward current of 20ma (most 3&5mm led bulbs.) Since you used a 100ohm resistor, that would explain your loss in brightness.

It is wired to stay on constantly even if the phone is powered off. As long as the battery is inserted and has some juice, it will be lit. I am not sure if I have a 22ohm resistor. The loss of brightness is not too bad. Like I said, it is still very effective.
EDIT: I actually used a 1ohm resistor if I remember correctly. I don't know why I put 100. I will fix that. The calculator is telling me that is what I needed to use anyways. I will double check when I have my phone apart again and am taking pictures for the tutorial.

Hey guys how are you!
So my beloved evo's lcd broke and i just replaced it today. The strangest thing is happening.. the screen turns on fine, but once I turn it off, it wont turn back on. The three buttons at the bottom light up and the screen, i can tell, turns on. But I cant see the UI. It is definitely not a software issue and I have tried reseating the ribbon cable multiple times. What the hell? Is my evo too old? only way i can make it work is with a reboot which is super annoying.
I have one with a shattered screen I will be replacing soon. If my memory serves me correctly there are several different types of ribbon sizes. Hopefully that is not your issue. I would suggest using a bright light and looking into the female receptacle (no dirty jokes please) and make sure that nothing is bent or twisted. Also check cable that none of the connections are not chipped.
Not sure if this will help but it is worth a shot. Other than that I am not sure what could be wrong.
Peace,
Love, and
Happiness
Edit: well fine honda but just one and you have to promise that it will be clean

The screen turns on fine. Its something I've never seen or heard about.
Well what caused the problem in the first place? Did ir just stop working or was it an innocent victim lacking the proper protective coverings?
Either way there could be more hardware problems than your screen. Give this a try and tell me what happens. Plug your phone into the charger, if nothing happens with the screen try connecting to your pc, and if still nothing try a rom that has the volume keys to wake aokp/cm are a couple that I know have that option.
If that doesn't work I will see what else I can think of.

You turn on the device. Powers up ok. You can see the screen. Then what? How long till it disappears? Are you doing anything when this happens? Can you unlock the phone and see the desktop? How do you know the screen turns on fine? What exactly is giving you this impression?
Sounds to me like another broken lcd. Do you have another phone you can swap out the mainboard and help isolate the problem: mainboard or lcd/digitizer/connectors.

It powers up fine and then as soon as the screen turns off (either manually by me or by timeout), it will not turn back on. The screen powers up, the lights at the bottom turns on but its a very dark grey screen. And as you said, isolating the problem would be easy if I had another mother board. I have another one with a wide flex cable IDK if should request a replacement or if i should get a more expensive, OEM LCD.
Ok questions for you.

Min/max governor
Oc/Uv
Everything thing else works

I did my research, man. Literally tried everything. Its not software, no setting can fix it.
Think it could just be an issue with waking? The lights coming on but just a dark gray screen has happened to me with several ROMs. Bumping up the minimum CPU speed a notch or 2 usually solves it.
I asked the seller and he said it is not oem. Do you guys think it makes a difference and if I should suck it up and buy OEM?

That's what I though at first. Hours of tweaking and research and I figured it cant be a software issue.
Can anyone tell if this thing has a LED notification light? Link to picture or video?
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm also interested in knowing if it does have a notification LED, if the colors available are just amber and green, which would be consistent with other HTC phones, or if additional colors are available.
Yes it does have one below the top speaker grill. i saw a video of it blinking green but i watched so many idk which one it was.
It definitely has one at 3.23 in this video you see it flash quickly under the earpiece https://youtu.be/exsEpSnVA0A?t=201
Does the LED blink for notifications when plugged in? The last htc phone I had didn't, meaning when charging, the LED stayed solid even if there were notifications.
I sincerely hope there's an RGB LED in there or else I'm cancelling my pre-order. Between not having wireless charging, RGB LED and -possible- wobbling while using it on my desk, that's one step too much for me. I really wanted to get it and could live with a couple of quirks but this is one too many.

If it doesn't exhibit the native LED behavior you desire, I highly recommend the app Lightflow. With Lightflow you can get the LED to behave pretty much however you would like it to, though you still won't be able to get it to show colors other than amber and green if HTC hasn't provided an LED capable of other colors.

They haven't, and you're probably correct that the HTC 10 won't either, but like ombadboy, I'm hoping it finally does. It --IS-- being touted as the "perfect 10", so you never know. I'm hoping, but not expecting.
An RGB LED would be cool, but I wouldn't suspect it being there. I haven't had an RGB LED since my Blackberry. It was nice being able to set custom colors and patterns for different contacts. I've found custom vibration patterns to fill the void. but that doesn't help with true silent mode.
At least we'll be able to see the damn notification LED this time! The Droid DNA's LED was ok (the one on the back was cool but hard to see) but the decision to put the LED behind 1 out of about 50 tiny holes in the speaker grill on the M8 was awful. It's so small and hard to notice.

Cheers, while I too would hope it has a RBG one as tbf the green/amber combo is crap especially as it doesn't change when your charging and get a notification but the only thing that would stop me buying the 10 is poor battery life

It doesn't have RGB. See my post up thread.
As for changing color when charging, I'd recommend using LightFlow. I believe even the free version will let you set the color to, say, amber while charging, and then green when fully charged. (I have the paid version, so I can't say for certain that the free version allows this, but I think it does. The paid version definitely does, at least on the One M8.)
HTCs signature, green and orange LED. Lol

Don't know if you guys realize this, but the Desire 626s and A9 (and the 10) all have RGB LEDs. Whether or not HTC is using them as such is a different story, but they are.

Forgive my ignorance, but does this mean that if, by some chance, the HTC 10 also includes an RGB LED that a program like LightFlow may be able to make use of the RGB capabilities it possesses?
I'm going to get in touch with the LightFlow developer, to ask him what he knows about how his product functions on the Desire 626 and A9.
Thanks for that great tip!

I already said that the 10 includes it .
I don't know how Light Flow works, but maybe it can take advantage of it? I guess the dev would know better than me....
