Custom Sounds on HTC Touch Pro2??? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Is there a way to customize startup sounds or error sounds? I would like to change the sound of those, but can't seem to figure out how. Anyone help with that?? It has WinOS 6.1.

Like many of the options on the Touch Pro2, a user interface for the notification sounds appears to be sadly lacking. The default sound for my email alert, for example, it a barely audible beep. I have just had a route through the registry, and all the notifications look as if they are located here:
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications
From here, there are a number of registry keys, most of which are GUIDs, but their associated function is shown by the (default) value inside each key. There's a Wave string value in each, which you should be able to change as required. I've not tried this yet, but will have a go later.

Sound profiles (not volume levels)

I want to be able to change the sounds for the incoming call, new text message, ect, with a clicks or two...
I have spb phone suite and it allows me to set up profiles to adjust volume levels, but i want an easy way to change the actual sounds.
I want the phone set to a certain group of sounds during the day, and then at night change to a different set of sounds.
Any suggestions on how to get this done without a ton of work or where an app is at that does this?
Again, i dont need to adjust sound levels, but the sounds themselves...
Bringing this back to the top.

I have used Phonealarm for years. It is almost too customizable, but it will change volumes, tones, vibrate patterns, light the LED, and more. Its a Today plug-in but there also a couple of ways to integrate with TF3D.
There's a trial on www.pocketmax.net and I think it will do what you want.
+1 on PhoneAlarm, although I have not tried it on the Tilt 2 yet.
Sweet, thank you.
Im installing this as I type!
Phonealarm doesnt allow you to specify anything more then then ringtone.
You cant specify the sms or mms tones in the profiles...

Au contraire mon frere, with PA 2.2 you can setup custom email/SMS alarms base on subject/sender. I have not tried it yet, but it should work.
Wait, you just one per profile? That is definitely in there.
does PA allow me also to have a specific ringtone played according to the content of received sms'? I mean, having a standard ringtone (for every sms), and a secondary one only for sms that contain the word "emergency"?
thank you

Subject or Sender. Not body. (Do SMS messages have a subject?) I don't get SMS messages (only MMS), so I have not tested it. It's got a 15 day trial, so take it for a spin.
Does this allow you to point to sound files for ring tones or do you still have to dump them all in the messy windows directory? Does this include open close? (keyboard) sounds?
I want the ability to quickly change the phone/sms/mms sounds all at once.
PA does not do this that i could figure out.
If im wrong please help me figure it out, i would be greatful.
Also, if its not any easier then navigating to the default "sounds and notifications" settings then it does no good for me.
Optimally i would like an icon in my apps to click on, and then 1 more click to change sounds.
If I understand what you're asking for, this functionality was included in 6.1 (at least on my Blackjack II and Dash/Excalibur).
I was able to navigate to start > settings > profiles, then have 4 or 5 customizable profiles to choose from. I'd typically use a "silent" profile for situations like sitting in a movie theater, "normal" for everyday use, and "outdoor" or "loud" with everything at full volume.
These profiles were selected either from the profiles menu or by quickly pressing the power button (which puts my Tilt2 to sleep) and selecting the profile I wanted to use.
This is an extremely useful feature. I've looked all over and it appears that it isn't included in Windows Mobile 6.5 which is very surprising.
It looks like there are some 3rd party apps that might do this. This one looks to be the most promising and has a 14 day trial: http://www.penreader.com/windows-mobile-software/Handy_Assistant.html
Edit: This one looks like it might work too - though a little dated: http://www.jgui.net/phoneprofiles/index.html

Tilt 2 Notification Light FIX

If you want to change the time limit that the notification lights will flash for this is how. For me it was grayed out before modifying the registry and having it flash for 5minutes is unacceptable for me.
UPDATED: Thanks hopper13

fyi
Also, if you click on the value in the registry named "Default" it will tell you which notification you are modifying.
Brilliant! Many thanks. It is beyond me why ATT disabled this.
Uh oh, not so brilliant. Now my notification SOUNDS continue past the first notice and chime every 20 seconds or so! Do you have the original registry settings? (Yes, I failed to note them.) I'm going to have to roll this one back.
You are right hopper13
I have updated accordingly to let you select time of flash and to DE-select the repeat box...
It's working a-ok for me now!
Thanks!
Hi:
Thanks for the great post. So far seems to be working perfectly. I only changed the setting for SMS (using the original, pre-edited settings you posted), since I got a little scared by the previous post, but I will change the rest after testing a bit.
So far, looks great though.
Thanks again!
EDIT:
After testing some, I found the same problem Hopper mentioned before. This only happens when phone is asleep. If phone is awake it works properly. I will try the new settings.
Ahhh, much better! My entire office thanks you! lol
New settings working perfectly
Thanks so much for this, I have been looking for a long time for this fix. I even tried NueLED, which did nothing but mess my phone up to the point of requiring a hard reset.
Thanks again!!
PS:
One strange observation; If the TF3D threaded messaging is left open (whether phone is awake or asleep), the LED does not flash on incoming message. Not a big deal though, since I rarely leave it open.
One question, will this also work for reminders?
Thanks again!!

It probably could work for reminders but HTC is controlling the reminders and there is a specific .dll that you need to make a copy of and rename if you want to modify snooze times. I saw a thread about it, but am in class right now so do some searching! I will too if I find time!

Hi:
I actually do know the post you are talking about regarding snooze time (which would be so awesome if it could be changed), but apparently any reg changes seem to return it to the previous WM notifications. But, that is actually not what I meant when I asked about reminders.
What I meant was, will the type of change you posted for sms etc also work to enable the LED to continue to flash when an alarm/notification etc go off? That option is currently greyed out like the others were.
Thanks again!!
Anybody willing to make a cab for these registry changes? It would top off this thread just right!
Thanks
I have applied the changes below (select hex and input "40000019"), but the constant audible alerts continue. :-(

How many notification LED lights on Tilt2 (ATT)
Hi,
Sorry for a stupid question: how many notification LEDs are there on the Tilt2?
My old HTC Hermes (ATT 8525) has TWO LEDs (one each on BOTH sides of the earphone). The one on the left is to indicate charging etc. and the one on the right is to indicate Event Notification.
I did the fix as mentioned in this thread, but it looks to me that my new Tilt2 only has ONE LED light on the LEFT of the earphone. There appears to be a "light tunnel" on the right of the earphone as well, but I have never seen it light up.
I am still trying to figure out the behavior of the Tilt2 notification light. It looks to me that it only uses the left LED. When it is being charged, it shows yellow steady light. When it is fully charged, it shows green steady light. Looks like it blinks in green when there is event notification (but I am not sure for how long and how consistent yet). Does this match to your Tilt2? How about TP2 on other carriers? Did I get a defective one (i.e. only one function notification LED)?
Thanks
decimal 31 is 1F in hex, and hex 40000019 is 1073741849 in decimal for those who cant choose.
this worked on everything but 15F11F90 which is reminders. anybody know how to fix this?

To my knowledge, the Tilt 2 only has 1 LED. The "light tunnel" you talk about is actually the sensor to determine the amount of ambient light, and does NOT light up.

Go and DESELECT the "Repeat" checkbox under Settings, Sounds & Notifications.
Yeah. Thanks for clarifying the LED count.
It appears to me that with the registry fix, the one and only LED will NOT provide notification feature when the phone is being charged. It only shows the solid yellow (charging) and solid green (fully charged) conditions and will override any blinking event notification.
It only provide notification function when the phone is NOT connected.
Anyone notice the same thing?

How to add more tones.

Since upgrading to 6.5, I find it difficult to add more tone to my TP2. Right now I am stuck with their batch of tones, especially to change the tone for "incoming text messaging." Can anyone help? 6.1 was very easy.
Adding notification tones didn't change from WinMo 6.1 to 6.5.
Just dump the sound files you want to use in "\Application Data\Sounds\". They then become selectable when you go into your notification settings.

Want short cut link for Phone Sounds

I installed Easy Launcher which puts short cuts on your today screen. I want to install a shortcut for the Settings-> Personal ->Phone. One day I will buy some software (maybe someone knows of some for free), but everyday at work I set my phone to no ring, and at the end of the day I want to set it back to ring. A short cut on my today screen would help.
Thanks

Why not just use the hardware volume button. Press it up or down, the HTC volume screen appears, select SILENT, and you are done! Or you could set it to vibrate.
I listen to music all day on head phones. I need the volumne up for the music but do not want the phone ring in my cubicle environment. Especially if I get up, leave my desk, and my phone has been ringing nobody appreciates it.

Well, you could disable the HTC Notifications manager. Then you would have the old-style dialogs for your data connection and volume. I mention it because the stock WM dialogs have separate volume controls for Phone and Device.
It is a registry tweak where you change the name of the dll file to something different. When you reset the notifications should be stock instead of HTC.
do you know what the registry change would be to remove the htc notifications?

local machine / services / notificationmanager / Dll.
Change it from NotificationManager.dll to NotificationManager2.dll and reset the device. If it works, when you click on the speaker icon in the task bar, you should get a dialog for just the volume.
I haven't tried this with my particular version of WM 6.5.x, but it worked on the stock WM 6.5.
could be done by simple script.
I have a script which automatically change backlight settings every morning and evening.
it's very similar thing, you only need to change values for registry entries in it.
Suppose on rhodium volume could be change directly through registry.
or you may find it on xda or I'll send it if you want.
these are those entries:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume]
"Ringer"=dword:99999999
from 00000000 to FFFFFFFF = level
and for vibrate:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
"Sound"="*none*"
OR
"Sound"="*vibrate*"
this just came:

Brenda, did you ever get this working (a shortcut to a specific place in settings)? If not I've come across another way to accomplish it that's pretty simple, let me know and I can create the link for you to put on your startmenu or wherever
create an ANSI file backlightTimes.lnk with this text inside:
1#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,3,1
==
1# - num of chars -ignored by new wm
ctlpnl - calling cpl files
cplmain - main cp applet
3 - internal code - ID of applet window
1 - open on 2nd TAB
problem is some contrl panel windows are ignoring last parameter (TAB) and this one is, so you need to click again, then make your settings and click to confirm. Still not too easy

Yup, my thoughts exactly

Dialer location and files - problems with display

Have been modifying TP2 with many registry changes etc. Running WM6.1
However, seem to have "lost" part of the standard dialer and have trolled through the forums trying to find what files and .dll are being used by the DEFAULT dialler.
The HTC dialler works fine but I do not like it, so when swapping back to the default dialer, the buttons and keys are there, but where the list of previous numbers should be is just a grey area with no entries. Selecting any area WILL bring up the call record as normal.
I must have deleted\edited\corrupted something..........but even looking through back-ups, can not find a clue!
Otherwise, any clues on JUST a plug in dialer (everything I find seems to be a full package with today and other stuff) - I like the dialler on the TYTN2 - both for size and colour and am trying to replicate this if possible.
Colours and size are good for tapping when driving as here in UK must NOT hold a phone as illegal!
ANy clues on files/which registry keys hold the colours for the HTC keypad etc. would be useful as doesn't seem to be HKLM\security\phone\skin[/QUOTE]
