some questions about touch pro 2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

is there a way where i can edit the registy so instead of opening IE it opens opera 9.7?
Also when i try to unistall something in the windows OS using remove programs... it uninstalls the program but the program name is still there, how do i delete these?
And finally, is it possible at this time and moment to get windows 6.5 onto touch pro 2?

I don't understand ur first question? If u don't want to open IE then don't open IE unless ur talking about a link of some sort.
I have this issue too and i think its because all the files haven't been removed when you uninstall the certain app.
No on the last question.

I'm not sure, but isn't there any option in the menu that says: use as standard browser?

try opening whatever file explorer you use, go to windows/startmenu, and if the program shortcut is still there, delete it. that should get rid of the program name

How to uninstall Intellipad?

I installed a CAB file called Intellipad. I just wanted to have a feel of XDA Mini on my XDA IIs.
But, now I want to uninstall this application, there is no way that this is possible until I do a hard reset. This is what I know.
Is there any less tedious way of doing so?
Thanks,
Siddharth
can u not delete it from the windows directory? i dont know as i have it and like it, but dont use it, and havent tried to remmove it. i would have thought if u look in windows and find the intelipad files if u remove them u get rid.
That would definitely stop the application from running, but I don't think it would "remove" it entirely.
Windows as an OS does not facilitate "uninstalling" the application just by deleting the files.
I already did what you have suggested, but that still leaves "Intellipad" as a choice in the "Input Type" menu at the bottom right.
Thanks,
Siddharth
practical tip
I assume you have a cab file for installing the intelipad.
open the cab file on your desktop to identify all the files that was inatalled at your phone (you may use win zip).
now that you identified all the file you may delete everything at you phone manual by finding them one by one (nice to start at windows directory).

Registry Edit?

I have the 6.5 rom by nfsfan. Is there a way i can change the registry or settings somewhere so that when i go to the music tab it launches S2P instead of WMP?
The link that is launched is hard coded into manilla. The only way around that is to change the link that is opened. You can use something like vjbrisk to change any actual link - for instance, you can use it to replace the actual wmp.exe (or whatever it is called) in windows so that anything that tries to open that link will instead open S2P. This is problematic, though, if you wanted to continue using WMP for other things in the future. Erasing vjbrisk from the windows folder restores the original link that was replaced automatically, so you don't have to worry about messing stuff up. Use something like total commander or resco explorer to overwrite files in the windows directory.
thanks for the reply!

Application Request: Is there a way I can change the exact directory to install cabs?

Please someone tell me there is an application to make this kind of stuff fast and easy. I'd like to change the way my cabs install into the directory.
For example, I got an MP3 Trimmer cab but the shortcut installs into the windows folder. It's annoying, I want to install it into the start menu programs folder.

Download the trial for WinCE Cab Manager 3.X from http://www.ocpsoftware.com/download.php and install it, once installed open and edit the .cab file, change the "default install Dir" paramater and you're good to go. It's a commercial piece of software, but you can run a trial for 30 days without need of registration. see screenie.

Can't Uninstall Taskbar!!

I installed the cab of tsowentaskbar6v2 in my HD (original ROM) and now i can't happen to uninstall it. it keeps giving me an error. and even if i try to install any other taskbar over it, there are still some "side effects" left from it. how do i uninstall it completely??? PLS HELP!!
Taskbar cab contain some protected system files, once you installed one of them you should not install others over it.
Solution
Give me the direct link to the cab which you already installed it and now couldn’t remove it, I will extract files and give them back to you then you should manually (using Resco explorer for total commander) move them to windows directory and over write them, after that you can uninstall the cab.
This is the direct link to download the cab file:

Uninstall any other cab which modifies task bar
Copy dll files to windows directory
Do soft reset
Uninstall tsowentaskbar6v2.1
I tried doing that.... but no luck. when i try to uninstall 'tsowen taskbar' it just gives me an error: "tsowen taskbar was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?" And even if i press yes, its still there. its just not uninstalling....!!!
I really wanna remove it now. it has also changed the icons for today, programs and settings in the start menu. any more ideas PLS!!!
Does no one knows how to uninstall this taskbar???
tsowen, why don't you only help me with this!!
Pls..!!
Sorry mate you've got 2 options, one do a "Hard Reset" the other install trail version of Sktools from here: http://www.s-k-tools.com/index.html?sktools/m_feat.html this excellent utillity has a better programs uninstaller then the standard window programs remover! this tool has got me out of similar situation in the past without having to resort to hard reset
I tried the Sktools, but it doesn't even show me the taskbar in the installed programs.
but in the default windows remove programs, its there. i even tried reinstalling the same cab again, but the installation fails.
Isn't there a way where i can just delete and replace the dlls in windows folder with original HTC ones. i mean we know the dlls that this cab replaced, now we just replace the same onces with original ones and delete any unnecessary files that came with this...!!!???

[Q] replacing a deleted icon in start menu

Hi all
after some great advice from miami_son I have managed to sort out the mess that was my programs start up page.
sadly i also managed to delete the link file for the file explorer program
try as i might (and being very thick) i cant get it back.
can anyone point me in the direction (or tell me how to do it) to get the file link back
many thanks in advance
Use Total Commander to locate fexplore.exe in the \windows directory and select it with a single click. Click on file in lower left corner of Total Commander to bring up the menu. Click on >>>>>> and then click on create shortcut. Use the tree function to place the file in \windows\startmenu\programs.
Follow Kevin's instructions, works for any .exe file you want to create a shortcut for. But I would just skip creating one for that particular file. For one, Total Commander is a much better file explorer and can do more, and the OEM file explorer can cause you to delete things by accident if you aren't real careful.

I'm not sure, but I think that many programs use the file explorer to open files, rather than opening it themselves. Or at least this appears to be the case.

He didn't delete the program, just the shortcut for it. Once you have Total Commander installed you no longer need the stock shortcut. Like I said, TC is a much better file explorer.
You guys are just brilliant!!!!
Thanks so very much
was on the verge of hard resetting the device to start again!!
thanks again

The shortcuts (*.lnk files) are located in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
The icons for the programs are located (normally) in \Windows.
thanks so how do i delete them?

Any file browser application on the device. File Explorer is on every ROM. You could even do it from your PC if you rather.
Install Total Commander. Unzip file, connect device to PC, run the EXE file.
thanks miami son
am i correct in thinking ( from the advice you gave me about a year ago) that you cant actually delete the program but you can delete the icon file (png?)
thanks all

It sounds like you're just trying to remove some links from your start menu. Is that correct? If it is, then just navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and delete the ones you don't want to appear in the Start Menu. In File Explorer, tap and hold on the one you want to delete until the menu pops up. Select delete and then tap yes. In Total Commander, do the exact same thing. I don't think I can explain that better without making a video of it.
well i would like to delete the progs but I was under the impression that they were installed on the rom and, as such, they cannot be deleted
(certainly when you delete the icon and then do a hard reset the icon re appears)
i will try to combine (my bad) memory and the instructions and see where i can go
thanks all

You can't uninstall apps that are cooked into the ROM whether you use stock or custom ROMs. Deleting the link files as I've instructed will prevent them from showing up in your start menu. If you hard reset, they will be right back where they started.
Thanks for all your help guys
i can start to sort out the phone now
thanks again
