WM6 Installation Success poll

Hello all,
I recently purchased a Cingular 8525 and I'm really considering upgrading the phone's OS to WM6. I've successfully used the unlocker to unlock the SIM and made it SuperCID.
I did a search on this topic but really couldn't find anything that was in one spot....
I'm creating this poll for all those newbies (like myself who want to upgrade).
This poll is for any flavor of WM6....
Cheers to all...
Wow!!!!
It's pretty amazing that no one has bricked their phone while upgrading to WM6. As a newbie, I feel pretty confident upgrading this weekend...
I've printed up the guides and downloaded all the software...
I've decided to use the LVSW version.
Thank you to all for all your input and advice.
There are several threads with people bricking their phones (at least temporarily). Maybe after their experience they are too scared to come back here and answer the poll

That's exactly why I read the wikis and read the threads for 3 weeks before I even THOUGHT about upgrading. And even then I had to ask questions and sound like an idiot and sweat during the whole upgrade.
I originally went with LVSW and then with Black v1.2....I just couldn't resist.
Jim
I brick and can unbrick my tytn
Yes i try to upgrade my softbank with a dopod rom, for winmobil6 LVSW, and my phone brick after a 17% but reading all wiki, i can recover so is beautiful mobile 6, i'm happy with black edition 1.1 cyu
I know exactly what you're saying I've been reading the Wiki's and guides non stop in the evenings. My wife hates me at this point because I'm spending more time reading about the upgrade and asking questions than spending "Quality Time" with her
I guess, my fear is (like many of us newbies wanting to upgrade) bricking my $500 Cing 8525 and being out of warranty. I don't know about the rest of the gang here but 1/2 a grand is a lot of duckets
Quick question for you.... may I know why you decided to go from the LVSW flavor to the Black v1.2 flavor? Was the installation process the same?
Just curious....
Thanks

I can upgrade successfully without any major problem.
The only problem is while I am trying to restore the GPRS/MMS Setting, although I am using cab file for this network wizard but only can be done for 3G/GPRS but not for MMS...
Guys i want upgrade to WM6 but when i read the bricked section of ht WM6 upgrade i am holding back, i am unsing Dopod 838 Pro which is Hermes (HTC) and i have the following ROM upgrader (plpease look at the attached Photo). can some one please advice me if they have used this ROM for the upgrade of Hermes???
i will not want my oda to be a brick as its 3 cmonth old and still under warranty...
Hi truffle1234,
You may want to create a new thread asking your question. The intent of this thread is to find out the installation success rate for people who have already tried to upgrade to WM6.

Well...I guess after I successfully flashed LVSW without bricking my (almost) new 8525 I thought what the hell and flashed Black v1.2 on the spur of the moment...my wife says I have impulse control issues. But I'm glad I did. It seems to run smoother, quicker response and better handling of some of my 3rd part apps.
I've done ALOT of trial and error. I have hard reset my phone (of my own volition) 5 times over the past week. I'm a bit OCD and after trying out programs to see how I run it seemed like the memory went back up all the way. So I hard reset to start over again.
I finally have it working the way I like and the Black, from my low-level of experience, seems stable and more functional than the Palm I used t carry.
I have the following installed:
Weather to Go (working construction/realty I need accurate Wx)
BattMemory (I'm anal about checking program memory and its a small plug in)
O2Plus (great for hitting a button and seeing what apps are open)
Palm threated SMS (I hate the native SMS program on the 8525)
MORTGAGECalc (REALTOR, nuff said)
GoogleMaps (REALTOR, nuff said)
Batti (I like the top bar that shows charging status and level no matter what app I'm in
ClearTemp (cleans out settings and temp filed quickly)
VibraSwitch (allows me to switch between vib and sound a la Treo 650)
PTTFix (allows me to remap the PTT button)
I've tried some other apps that did not go so well...SPB, Mobile Shell worked well a few days then slowed everything down...I liked the tabs and the plug in but it kept slowing the system down...and a bunch of others.
I'm not a big media user so I don't need TCMP or any other cool multimedia gadgets so I kept it to what I need. I keep my laptop with me normally so I don't need to watch movies or do any of that stuff. Most of my business work is done on the laptop. I have avvenu (www.avvenu.com) on my desktop so I can pull any file from my desktop from my phone via IE, which is a nice feature.
I soft reset every morning when waking the system up and it runs alot smoother than my T650 did.
I've not missed a single call since getting the 8525, the Push email is alot better than 3rd party apps for Palm, the 3G rocks where I am, and I get better reception. On my T650 I would get 1-2 bars or no service sitting in my house but with the 8525 I get 2-3 3G bars as a rule.

Check out the Hermes Section and look for "Palm SMS" thread or something like that. It goes over the MMS settings quite in depth.
just follow the guide and it should be fine. I am a beginner to this too but do some research and reading and follow the GUIDE! the guide is excellent!
Well everybody, just wanted to give a brief update that I was able to upgrade my Cingular 8525 to WM6 No problems on this end. Would definitely recommend the update to all.
Which flavour did you upgrade to??
Black is back in
I had no problems with either Black 1.1 or 1.2. Upgrades went like a charm. Not waiting for Black 2.0
Used Mr Vanx's guide to upgrade my HERM200 to the LVSW edition (25/3 version). I encountered no problems at all.
Device seems to work fine, though in Surinam we don't have all the advanced mobile phone features as in europe (like gprs etc).
First time upgrade

It sounds like you are looking for everyone to do the work for you.
As previously stated, the sticky threads are where to start.
The search function also works flawlessly.
It would take an hour to look up all the things you listed and repost the links here.
Modding your device is a work in progress my friend, your work in progress

thanks both of you for your support,
but, but,
here, do no laugh I am lost...with, generic R3A english, WM 6.1, almost not too many softwares come with it, and, I really do not know what to choose for an RSS reader, one, easy, and one I can from it, tell him, please do connect when I like it, not when he like it, meaning a manual feed os so.....
see brothers, I did not learn all, yet, and probably would never..I use now the NewsBreak, very nice, and, it connect nicely with Opera, but, like I say, when I like it...Did not find the function, yet, and, do not like to goes, each time in communication manager to turn ON/OFF the data exchange....
I used this website to help me out.
http://geekedout.se/winmo.php
Plus you can do a search anywhere in XDA.
Just flash your X1 with this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536551
I was about to sell mine on ebay due to low volume and a few other issues...this rom put right everything that's wrong with the X1...you'll be amazed
Thx,
Yes Its True I joined XDA @ 2008. but i did not use it.
I started using when i purchase HTC S710 and i was quite Happy with all the stuff available here.
I recently Purchase Xperia and i was really Dream abt it; since 1 Yr.
finally i get it . but i wanted to know right Apps to install because thre are several Version.
I myself Change the ROM to R3A UK Version ; priore to that i install WM 6.5 but i was not happy with it because lot of Bugs.
so i delete and Use the Original latest ROM available but still its missing lot of SW
Video, Radio( I install HTC Radio and its work fine), ... several apps missing ..
so i was requested to Post all apps available wiich was tested to run with XPeria.
The main issue is after i install TF3D Beta3 ; there is still some bugs ..
iknow XDA ppl are working hard to release the better one.
I really Appreciated,
but in Beta3 of TF3d i found we need to press harder in order to access floating menu , and its take time to load the apps.
Regards.

For apps and stuff I go to IPmart. You can find everything you want!
@mspl
First, try Jack's medium or full 6.1 ROM for a couple of days. Than you'll decide what you still miss.

Problem: RAM used 85% without any running apps????

Hi and thx for reading my post! I hope one of the experts in here can help me!
I bought my HTC Touch Pro2 in July in Austria with WM6.1! In November i donloaded from HTC Webpage the WM6.5 ROM in German, flashed the phone and loved it!
But then i recognized a very interesting thing:
When i start my phone the RAM usage is about 52% and its quite fast and responsive. In the first 2 or 3 hours the RAM usage increases to about 60-65% - still OK!
But then it increases up to 80-88% and then its soooo slow . I close all applications but no change in RAM usage (maybe 1% less max.) and i have no idea what to do! Only possible solution: Restart! But it´s "boring" to restart this device twice a day to enjoy full performance!
Any ideas/solutions?
If you do a search you will find there are a lot of threads with almost exactly the same title as yours.
This topic has been covered LOTS.
ups....sorry! I am not that good in searching and thats why i tried that before....
I'm actually have this exact problem as well on the new T-Mobile US 6.5 Rom. As far as I am concerned we don't have the push internet that was prescribed in the other threads.
Anyway for me to see what is sucking up this much memory?
Tried to find other threads regarding this prob but maybe i´m to stupid for that: I didn´t find exactly this Problem!
Others have any provider issues or the use it without the TF3D and so on - BUT i have original HTC ROM for WM65 in German incl. TF3D!
Isn´t there maybe a Tweak (like i had one for my touch diamond 1)????
Too stupid to search ???!!!!

Resproxy
Hi
Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Resproxy and change ShareMemSize to 0
You may need to do this on a periodic basis as the setting doesn't hold.

[Q] FRX06 build and Rhodium100_uk

Hi
Sorry for posting here but as I have never posted I am not allowed to post in the "build" section yet.
I have this latest build running on my TP2 (Rhodium100_uk) and followed the instructions in the FAQ's etc and read literally hundreds of posts. This build is running like a charm on the phone right up until the point of inserting the sim card.
As soon as the sim is in and I start the haret.exe, it's boots into android just fine but then the phone just goes into a deep sleep and cannot be woken unless I do a soft reset.
Just wondered if anyone had a similar issue?
As far as I know I've done everything by the book, formatted sd card with HP tool, picked the startup.txt file, tslocation file.
The only other way I can get it running is with a kernel from November 2010, the 204019 package but then the camera doesnt work and the battery life is flaky.
Again apologies if this is in the wrong section and I hope you busy peeps have time to reply.
Thanks in advance
Sorted, after much rereading and searching, I appear to have fixed this, please delete post if needs be thanks
How do you fixed it ? Ym tying many things on it Pro2 T7373 but many problems are there. Haved tested 2 android versions FRX06_Full_Bundle_25.3.2011 and GBX0A_Full_Bundle_11.3.2011 but in the first no provider contact possible and the other no audio at all. Its a very dificult to find the good info for it here and on Wikki about it and the help from other members is not so good (sorry people but reading many many posts here that get now answers on askings and searching here is even dificult because the search engine dont find for example the hit winmo 6.1 or 6.1 for the T7373. Ym tired of testing Winmo becausse y cant get a good voice command prog running that works wiht the headset from the pfoon, and that is what y want to use because ym a busdriver ho need its to use without touching the phoon only touching the headset like y use to do on my old Touch Cruise.
Hope that you can give me a hint where you find the sulution for Android fixes ?

[Q] HTC Touch Pro2 T7373 problems

Hello all, now a week long y have a new phoon, (its a old boxed one thats is not seled and now for 100 euro new from the shop.
But now ym searhing the forum like a fool but nothing is clear now for me.
The only thing y now is that its a HTC Touch Pro 2 T7373 (from KPN shop in Holland) and Winmobile 6.5 is already on it and looks nice and the keyboard works fine and internet is mutch better than on my old Cruise BUT thats it, cant find many apps that are working on the old phone likes Voice command and the old menu's.
Have tryed Android but looks great but not all works now (special "cant find provider" so no callings) so back to Winmob 6.5 only on the phoon. Try to find Winmobile 6.1 here but the search engine dont find it. Is there a 6.1 rom for the Rhodium ??? when not ym giving myzelf a week to try to learn how this stupid thing will works on my way, when not its gone be placed on a second hands site because my old phoon works nicer and more things works on it. Cant play now some video's not even when y installed TCPMP but not working at all who works great on winmobile 6.1.
Ym disapointed in this nice looking T7373 and the bad Winmobile 6.5
Sorry for the bad typing Eng. but not learning it on school in Holland 40 years ago.
So can anyone give me a tip pleace.

Finding (thanks google) Winmo 6.1 here but first testing with cooked 6.5. Test was bad stil no voice command and battery drain like a fool.
Charging now and tomorrow flash Winmo 6.1 on it. Think that will change not so much, so when that happens flash the original rom and sell the pfoon and go back to my old Touch Cruise who will do what y want him to do, and next time better reading before getting a new phoon.
Dont now why but why no reaction on some threads on the forum, not only this one but there are more help needed people who get no answers.
- - - - edit - - - -
Win 6.1 was the same here no succes, still missing some things like on the old phoon. So thats the end fore the Pro2, soon it will stay on the internet "for sale" im tyred off it.
if i where you i would read the rom development section and then try to flash a cooked rom. i have none of this problems you say accept voice commands. i dont use this voice commands so .
with a cooked rom i can do 3 days easy with average use.
and with android, have you let it settle for long enough.
with my phone its really crap and slow but if i wait long enough, so about 10 minutes then its way faster. my provider takes a short time before you see it in android so maybe you didnt wait long enough?
hope it helps a bit.
Def a cooked room such as EnergyROM should be the answer u r looking for.
