nes games on dash - HTC Excalibur

hi i have downloaded the cab file pocketnester but i want to know when i play the nes games like contra, castlevania, mario bros how do i use the keys to move the character because i can't start the game and how do i fix the keys on the keyboard so please help me out.

im not sure what the Menu key is originally, so anytime i run pnes for the first time, i hit random keys until the two menu keys are showing and the game is paused.
Press Menu button, then select Controllers. You can remap the keys this way to something that works better for you.
Hope this helps.

emulators on blackstone question

is it possible to talk on this board about emulators for wm and especially how they run on htc devices?
if not sorry and close the thread
I dunno, try it
Of course this is possible, as long as it is somehow related to the Touch HD, such as how does the current emulation software out there run on the HD?
I'd love to know. How does pDOSBox run?? FPSCE psx emulator?? Gonna try soon... Though I had trouble getting pDOSBox to run on the Diamond, would be good if somebody could give clear instruction on this.

yes that's exactly what I mean
I would to know how console emulators run on hd: for example snes emulator etc.
thx
Well, nobody has posted on this before so I got one suggestion:
Let's find out!
I am going to try fpsce (or whats his face) the PS1 emulator, and will post my findings here, especially with the on-screen controller overlay.
There are SNES emulators for winmo, just google, and try 'em! Let's get some testing info on these!
apart from the point and click games(monkey island etc) how will you be able to control the games without a physical keypad/keyboard?
Could someone please also try the ZX Spectrum emulator
http://pocketclive.emuunlim.com/
as well as the SCUMMVM?
Thank you in advance....

Man that runs smooth... No, I didn't try the snes emu yet. I'm gonna try dos and ps1 first, then snes
I found this:
http://n0p.tonych.info/?PocketSNES
now let us to know which version works on hd
A couple of YES's!
I've tried both FPSECE and Pocket Commodore 64, both run ok on the HD, but I have no ISO files to test FPSECE and the C64 seems to have a problem with the resolution, and although it works ok, its a real fiddle to see the keyboard AND the display at the same time!
Hope this is of value to someone!
I've tried pocketsnes but I can't get the on screen button in landscape mode, by te way with frameskip0 the fps is stil 60/60, impressive
I've tried the megadrive emulator too, but It seems not support on screen button and I didn't succeed to exit the program...so I had to remove the battery...
I tried pocketGBA amd although it appeared to start up it had problems with resolution and would load but not run any of the ROMs that worked fine on my Trinity...
MorphGear 2.4.0.9 On HTC Touch HD.
Ya'll have to check this video out,I haven't tried it myself personally, but it looks like this emulator works flawlessly on the Touch HD.Let me know what ya'll think about it.Peace.

HD's virtual touch pad?!

hi there
i wondered if someone can make some virtual buttons and nav pad at the bottom of screen so that we can use it in games and other programs
cause all u know that the devise realy lacks the d-pad!!
(something like what HD has in its standard keyboard but more applicable)
for example make a virtual input keyboard but without any alphabetic buttons! instead only nav and some big usefull buttons!
it would make a real change in hd's programing and gameing!!!
thanx in advance
i put some pics for an idea !! sorry for bad quality
thats no problem... emulators have that. problem is that the touch hd don't have multitouch... you have the choice... move ... or jump! that means no jumping forward with sonic or mario...
navigationkeyboard is already integrated in touchpal 3.5.
Ohhh, and this whole time I thought the only thing stopping people from playing games which require hardware input was the lack of a decent software input! Does this mean that the HD will never be able to play games which require more than one input at the same time e.g. racing games (accelerate and steering for example)?
That is such a shame
volume up = speed
volume down = break
virtual touch pad = driving around
See this thread for a great work-in-progress to address this issue

Never thought of that! Does that mean you could run a game at VGA resolution with the virtual D-Pad at the bottom of the screen (480x160 pixels)?

whu pay 88$ when you can pay less... just found this on a quick ebay search
that's not just for games!! it's needed in every program like file explorer and etc. to navigate through files!! u cant select a file with fingers without being run! or while typing or etc.
i know the org. keyboard has it ,but something more comfortable!! dude!

The Touch HD won't fit in that chainpus gamepad unless you chop it apart and mod it to extend further. I saw a thread somewhere else where someone did that, but that's way beyond my ability. I'm considering a Wii controller. Would just need some way to attach it. Maybe just a small clipboard to rest them both on or something.

No and no.
It is a problem. It is in emulators (i have myself draw dpad in morphgear) but it doesnt exist for normal VGA games.
and you are wrong about that multitouch problem. There can be place between up arrow and right arrow which will work as right up button. Also if you click on 2 places on HD, it will touch the centre of the points you touched, so it is basically multitouch
Well maybe with the increasing number of these devices having larger screens and no physical buttons someone will start coming out with more controllers.
What about an analogue slider input, like the joystick on the PSP? IMO that would be really cool.

Pokemon

Hi all,
i am new here and i have a question: Will there be, or is there a pokemon version for the htc touch hd?
T-T
Yes there is, aswell as a official iPhone version, but it was only brought out in a limited edition by HTC.
ok, so is there maybe an emulator? Or where can I download it?
T-T
...My bad, I just thought you were kidding. Theres no Pokemon theme if I remember correctly, there is a Mario one however for TF3D version 2. And there are numerous iPhone themes aswell (no emulators) like themes for WAD2 (software you have to purchase), and loads others. You can however just set your background to a Pokemon picture.
jesus!
oh god that is bad! and it is really impossible to play pokemon on an touchscreen phone?
T-T
OH A GAME! Damn I thought a theme. Yeah you can definately play it on your HD. Use Morphgear to emulate a GBA or GB (whatever you want) and use a Pokemon rom and play. You will need a WVGA control pad however, you can find one on the forums for the SNES emulator I thought and 1 for the GBA aswell.

ok, now i know what all these words mean,
I downloaded "zsnesw.exe" and I downloaded "PokemonBlau.gbc" (that is german for "Pokemon Blue Edition"). And if I run on my pc znesw and I load "PokemonBlau.gbc" it comes just a black screen.

the PokemonBlau.gbc file is a gameboy color ROM. You need an emulator that will play gameboy color ROMs such as Morphgear. zsnesw.exe sounds like a Super NES (SNES <-> z...snes...w.exe) emulator.
Morphgear has modules that can run gameboy color, gameboy advance, nes, snes, etc games. There is also a great wvga gamepad in these forums made for Morphgear.
well, I tried to get snes emulator Morphgear from the internet but I found only "zsnes", and I thought that there isn`t a difference....
T-T
ok, an other question: where can I download this emu? because I found only a 2003 version...
sorry for the triple post but nobody know where I get this emu??
T-T
You can use SmartGear
I just looked at it this afternoon.
though at the moment I'm just trying to figure out how to map the keys properly

So, it didn't run under a Windows Mobile enviroment!!!

Sorry, but you have first to read a little bit the manual of your GSM and a little bit about computers and so one.
This is NOT the helpline from microsoft and nintendo
@T_T :
Take a look at my sig, 1st link. You'll get some info's on how to run morphgear and where to find it.
This was my good action for today.
And to be crystal clear, just because I already see what is growing inside your head: No, I won't answer a single question about roms, emulators and windows mobile.
Googleâ„¢ and RTFM. is your salvation.

Amazing!
morphgear is a little bit laggy on the xperia. is there a tweak to make it faster or does anyone got some settings for the best perfomance?
lol sorry if i replied late i found the orginal .NES file all you need is to download the .NES file and run it in your PPC using an emulator
so first download the .NES file from my windows live skydrive here is the link:
http://cid-fff7ab4d679748ee.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/my files/Super Mario Bros ^5J^6.nes
then downlaod the emulator:

Yeah it is pretty easy. You just need to slide your keyboard, after that you have to change your orientation in Settings -> System -> Screen ( Display ) from Landscape to Portrait. Next you need to open your Morphgear and go to Global Settings and change the orientation to EAST. All you need to do next is to beat the mario world
I`m having a bit of a lag while playing and the game need to skip more than 4 frames to be playable. I believe it is because my morphgear can`t find the tytn II display driver. I saw a guy on youtube playing supermarion on xperia and the game runs smooth. Hope someone can help me.
hi kerfooly, could u activate ur .nes file again? it says it moved
Thnx
i am using pocketnester so there is not the option vertical or landscape
The pocketnester does not update my xperia's screen
If i pause the game, i see what is happening, otherwise it stays black.
OK I`ve got it
Finally Mario is running flawlessly. I`m using MorphGear and the game is playable in landskape and portrait. I just need to slide the keyboard to change the orientation. The tricky part is to configure MorphGear properly.
Now, after installing MorphGear you need to open the Global Settings and choose GDI display driver; Orientation - North; Uncheck "Use Virtual Pad"; CPU Throttle - High then reboot the device ( it is important to soft reset the device or the game will run without the last option ).
The second thing you need to do is to open the NES settings and change the screen size to "Window Size"; Frame skip - 2 and you need to change the input keys to your liking.
Happy play and I hope that this may help someone
thnx sas69, now it's working great!! exept the sound... there is no sound??? any idea how that comes? or do i have to change some other options?
