Hello,
I just bought a touch hd and I can not sync. Sub xp error 28 no driver and activesync does not see it. I had no problem with my blue angel. If anyone has the driver thank you in advance.
first have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling active sync? If this does not work goto Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC and untick the Enable Faster Data box. If this is unticked try ticking it.
If not the drivers are here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508361

If your PC will not pick up your phone then you cant install the drivers as a seperate package. Try these steps and see if they help
Cheers

I've been able to successfully flash the ROM to one of the WM6 editions. All appears to be working well on the TYtn. The problem is that now I cannot sync with my desktop? Is there a way to achieve this? Is Vista looking for an official copy of WM6? TIA...
no dont worry dude, how did you flash the WM6 build??
follow the final steps of one of my guides on this page as you may not have sorted the various settings on the device??
(if you used one of my guides to install can you tell me which one?)

I used your guide to install the following LVSW(2007/04/08) RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.24.0.4...From your guide, am I to assume that WMDC should not be used in Vista? I should DL and use ActiveSync 4.5?

with vista M$ does not alet you download or install activesync anymore your forced to use wmdc they screwed us that way lol

Yes, I used the bootloader to install WM6. However, making the changes as outlined in the tutorial (unchecking advanced usb...) does not correct the problem. Still cannot sync up...

Still no luck in getting sync. I've disabled firewall and re-installed WMDC. Followed the guide to change the drivers, reinstalled WM6 and unchecked the advanced USB. When I connect the tytn to pc, a found new hardware window opens, check install HW automatically. Get a no drivers found message on PC. On the tytn screen get a pop up window stating connected to usb. Through this process WMDC says connecting and then error?
Sounds like you havent downloaded the latest version of WMDC from MS.
dude, uninstall WMDC and Activesync and start from the beginning of the vista config guide

Do you have a link for the latest version? I thought that it only installs when Vista detects a pda attached?

OK, I followed your guide step by step. I did a soft reset to get out of bootloader mode and placed the tytn on the cradel. A found new hardware window opened and I select automatic install. It searched for a bit and came back with a message that "Windows could not find driver software for my device." WMDC shows error...
I'm using Outlook 2007 if that may be the cause?

If you are just trying to sync (not do an upgrade) the usb to pc connections setting should be checked for advanced
see these links for trouble shooting etc

Thanks eagle. I just tried to reinstall WMDC and did not do any of the changes as per the guide. Reconnected the PDA (w/advanced usb checked). Vista message says new device found...tries to install drivers...can not locate. Unplugged PDA and unchecked advanced USB. Same thing happens...

Has anyone had a problem with WMDC not syncing?
It starts to sync, but never completes - just stays on the 'Syncing' status.
It was fine before I upgraded ROM's - but I had to install the driver linked from the Vista upgrade section at MrVanx's.
Anyone had a similar problem?
Have you tried disabling 'Advanced Network Functionality' in
Start\Settings\Connections\USB to PC
?
Yeah, doesn't affect it. HTC USB Sync is no longer there in device manager though?
Just managed to sync it fine on my works PC (XP), so it must my WMDC or the USB Driver. I've already reinstalled WMDC though
i had the same problem..but i just reconnect and it works
Same problem
I have the same problem. In fact, after going to 4.0 Vista 64-bit now says it doesn't recognize the USB device.
I did disable the advanced network functionality as well.
Any solutions?
fixed!
Ahh... what I needed to do with vista 64 was to disable the driver signing enforcement.
this link shows you how for vista 64
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/1429/vista_disable_digital_driver_signing_enforcement
or I have posted the instructions here.
Turn off Digital Driver Signing Check in Vista:
1. Create a shortcut on the desktop to cmd.exe
(this recipe explains how to create a shortcut if you don't know how)
2. Right-click on the shortcut and select Run as administrator
3. When the command window opens, type or paste the following and press ENTER:
Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON
4. Reboot and then try installing the driver.
Cheers for the reply, but i've the latest drivers from MS now - which are signed.
Oddly enough it works fine on another Vista PC, just this one seems buggered. I managed to get it working eventually by disabling enhanced network functionality and leaving windows to install a newer driver.
But on my other Vista machine I can sync it with this enabled. Odd
Hi everybody,
i updated my diamond af few weeks ago, everything worked but now i can't connect with usb anymore, tried activsync and diskdrive on windows xp 32 bit sp3, windows 7 32bit and vista ultimate x64 but nothing works.. ant ideas and or solutions? tried hard reset already..
Same happened to me. USB cable only works for charging now, it's not recognized for syncing. Tried different pc's so know it's not that.
Must be a problem with the Diamond hardware or the USB cable I think.

It seems more likely to be a "software problem" rather than a hardware one. Please try to "hard reset" it (you will lose all data, and restore to factory default). Then do syncing again. If it works, it means something you have installed crash with the syncing.
Or try firstly different cable (for ex. from Canon IXUS cameras! )

1. Ok, try the obvious:
- Go into "USB to PC" applet (start/settings/connections/USBtoPC).
- Make sure that the 2 checkboxes are checked ("Enable Advance network functionality", and "Ask about connection type when I connect").
- Disable your antivirus & FIREWALL (My Norton AV/Firewall doesn't allow ActiveSync and messes with USB drive mode!).
- Now connect to yor PC's USB and see if it works.
2. Check the following key in your registry:
- \HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS
- Make sure the "CacheSize" value is ZERO "0". EnableCache can be enabled or disabled, didn't make a difference for me.
I had the same problem and fixed it following exactly these 2 steps. Fortunately, I remembered to re-trace my steps backwords
Good luck & Cheers
Hello
If you have problem to connect MDA Compact III, P3300, Artemis to Vista WMDC.
Just click on you PPC
Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC
and Uncheck "Enable advanced network functionality"
That's all, no need to reinstall drivers, no SP1, no soft and hard reset.
PLEASE MAKE THIS STICKY, MANY PEOPLES HAVE PROBLEM WITH THIS
Thank you
thanx so much for the info...i fried my brain trying to connect it but i never thought to uncheck that damn thing....
i can not
I´ve already done this but i am not able to connect my p3300 to the wmdc.
I also do not find the drivers
could you help me?
I am not able to find that "USB to PC" icon in settings->connections menu. Or anywhere else. Maybe because I have a cooked ROM (Tom_B&B_v5.0_with_cube).
BTW I'm running Windows 7 and can't connect the device to pc. I tried WMDC but it keeps saying that my device is not connected.. So i thought that the reason might be this "advanced connectivity".
Thx in advance for some response
Well I've already found it - I'm a dumbass It wasn't in connections but in system..
Now it's time to test it.
Well even if I turned it off there is still no luck connecting it. Even in device manager there is no mobile devices tree. I have a cooked ROM so maybe this causes the problem?
Searched other similar topics but not exactly what i was looking for, so here it goes.
My Desire won't connect to my PC. It asks for connection type (charge only etc.) but when i choose Sync or Disk Drive, my PC can't recognize them. I'm using Wind XP 32-bit and latest HTC Sync. I have already tried all USB ports, un/installing HTC Sync and different versions of it. Tried closing antivirus during install and during connecting. When i connect to PC, under device manager it shows Android Phone->Android Composite ADB Interface
I know that phone and cable is fine, because they work on my laptop with win 7 64-bit.
I'm going crazy, HTC help is also useless, in third letter they finaly understood my problem and all they suggested to do was close antivirus and try all USB ports. Please help me.
up........
It's clearly a driver problem.
Enter device manager, in "view" choose "show hidden devices". Then uninstall every driver for the desire (in "disk drives", "storage volume", and in "universal serial bus controllers" - that should be all the places they are; tip if you are not sure about some open properties and check what is says in "location" - should give you a hint).
Uninstall HTC sync again.
Restart win, plug the phone and let windows do the driver installing.
New hardware wizard can't find drivers.
Choose to search online then.
Set the desire in disk mode and connect it again to the PC.
If it again doesn't work, you have not fixed your drivers.
I had problem with windows recognizing my htc Desire when I was connecting to my front usb ports on Desktop computer.
Problem was solved when I connected to back usb port, directly to motherboard.
I see you said you tried all ports but had to share my experience just in case you didn't try the back ports.

How i choose to search online? can't find that option
And if i connect my desire to pc, under device manager i can see other devices->Android Phone (after unsucsesful driver install) and if i select to uninstall that, is that enough to delete all drivers? can't find them any other place.
Select "install software automatically" and then "yes, this time only"
This should not have been needed, though. As XP should recognize your device as a usb mass storage device.
And as for the second - have you deleted them while the desire is NOT connected as described in my first reply?
If you could not manage to fix it again, maybe you should reinstall XP, at least then the drivers will be okay...

install software automatically doesn't give me that option...
But i have noticed this wierd behavior before. Like some time agi when i bought a steering wheel, it was impossible to get it working (similar problem, can't find drivers) luckily i was just about to do format c and reinstall xp and after that, no problem, installed first time... Same thing even with memory sticks, USB TV sticks and so on. How come my pc just sort of "loses" or messes up the drivers?! But i'm not going to do a reinstall, just too much stuff i need in my pc.
Is there anything else you can recommend tring?
