I got my TP2 for a week now and I really love it!
Yesterday I tried to run TomTom 7 (this did run before) and since then I get the message:"Unable to start. Not enough memory is available."
Does this sound familiar to you? What memory is meant here? I suppose the RAM, because I have freed up some space on the device and on the storage card. Further no applications are running. I also tried doing a soft reset before starting TomTom.
Any help would be appreciated!

hi I had this on my diamond and I found if I deleted my maps and then reinstalled them all was well for me.
I hope this helps you
So that would mean if I delete the maps it should be able to start again? (Of course displaying no maps where found) I just tried it and that doesn't work.
First I'm copying the maps back to the device again. Let's see what happens!
No, unfortunately that doesn't solve the problem.
If I have some time left I will uninstall and reinstall.
The TomTom uses less than 20mb of ram. There should be plenty left.
A re-install should fix your problem.

I think 20mb is a bit much. To illustrate, i'm running it right now on my Treo 700Wx and before i launched it i had 18mb free program memory (other apps running as well) and right now since running TomTom 7 it's dowm to 11mb (so about 7mb has been used up by TomTom).
At the most it only ever uses as much as 10mb on my puny 3yr old Treo 700Wx.
i have another problema with tomtom(v.7.915) with tomtom installed can't connect me to my computer using activesync in bluetooth.any idea?
hmmm, anyone tried entering a city or something using the HW keyboard? Mine inserts an extra character after every keypress, even the shift key. Kinda makes it impossible to enter using the KB.
i had this when i had both the tom tom program and map on my storage card
i have tom tom on the device and my map on the storage card root location named with the name of the map for the folder
Western_Europe_1GB_830_2306
and it works fine
im struggling to get speed cams installed

Have you tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522373
It was posted in the Tips and Tricks sticky at the top of this section
This is interessting: I've uninstalled TomTom and reinstalled it. No luck!
However: if I start TomTom from the folder Programmabestanden\Navigator it DOES work!
It only doesn't start if I use the shortcut in the windows\start menu folder.

I seem to remember I had this problem on my Raphael/Touch Pro. Not sure but there may be a HW keyboard fix if you check out the forums over there. Whether or not it will work for the Rhodium/TP2 though is another thing. For me, it's not a problem to use the SW keyboard though.
i just soft reset or use cleanram before using tomtom. The problem is the leaky memory in the original Rhodium ROM. A new cooked ROM will most likely solve this one they become available

The internal Storage Folder & Contents Routinely disappears on my PDA2K. The only way to restore the folder is by doing a hard reset. After doing so, the contents of the storage folder re-appear as well.
Any ideas??
to my it happened to me several weeks ago the same thing...
And several times it has already spent...
but still nobody has told me anything
That you program you had installed in the Storage...
regards
Okay, this has happened to me 4 times now in 1 weekend. Does anyone know what is going on here?
I hate this reset, sprite, use for a bit, gone again, etc business.
Driving me nuts.
Someone please help.
Well, when the battery gets lower, it shuts down the SDIO slot. Could that be it?

No we are not talking about the SDIO Memory. I am talking about the internal storage. It just goes away until you hard reset.
Well I figured out what was causing it, but I still don't know why. I installed the newest version of WebIS Mail 2.1, and when retrieving mail, it pauses, after that the storage is gone, then it's good old hard reset and sprite to the rescue. Funny thing is nothing is deleted and after a sprite restore it goes back to normal. But the story continues the next time I try and retrieve mail.
So what I did was store the mail folder on my SDIO (yes it is brutaly slow), and now it works fine.
Any thoughts?
Registry
Can you please take a look at your registry?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Loader]
Does it read : \Release\\Storage\Windows ?
If it does not maybe you would like to try importing the attached key.
Just a note here, that should read,
Does it read : \Release\\Storage\Windows\ ?
and not
Does it read : \Release\\Storage\Windows ?
I believe.
Sounds to me as if you mail program is over writing your storage, trying to store too much info their. This is normal behavior with this type of storage.

Is there anyway to enable it again??
I'm not thinking when the battery is low, I'm thinking to try and re enable SDIO Slot when Windows cant see the SDIO card.
It's the funniest thing, i often loose the SD card in windows, but somehow when i'm running TomTom 3.7 which is installed on the SD Card, it never fails once it's running even though i'm sometimes not able to access the SD Card with file explorer.
So somehow it's there for TomTom onces it's running, but not for Windows???
Woops. Looks like I can't read. Sorry.
This 'internal storage' disappearing issues also happened on my Xda IIs (HK WWE), now with 1.33 + 1.06, in the past few days as well.... SINCE I installed the following two programs.
1. O2 Plus 1.6 - cracked by someone with his/her signature on the 'About page'
2. Tweak2K2 3.4
I am pretty sure that's the hacked O2 Plus does that. Since I had my splash screens customized on my IIs initially and after installed O2 Plus 1.6, after a soft reset, the 2 splashed will revert to O2 splashes then after some time, 'internal storage' disappeared.
Restored the unit back to the stage that I had version 1.5-hacked, never had a problem since. However, right after uninstalled 1.5 & reinstalled 1.6, same disaster happened again. Tried 3 times in a roll, never missed. Dont think that's the problem with Tweak2K2. Not an expert on manually tweaking the registry, but that's what I found out. I am back to 1.5-hacked & Tweak2K2 3.4. And running without a problem. Did you guys put on the O2 Plus 1.6-hacked or had it on before?

Anyway, my first post on this incredible forum, really appreciate on everyone sharing thoughts and knowledge here.

I'm pretty sure we are both wrong. Because I am running 1.6 right now, and I've been running all day with no problems. I am also running Tweak2K2 3.4. My problem disappeared when I set the WebIS Mail 2.1 mail storage folder to a SDIO card instead of the internal storage.
Someone, please help with this. There is a bigger culprit here, and I don't think Cabrio or I have a proper conclusion.
But I will try uninstalling 1.6, reinstalling Mail 2.1 and try it again. I just hate all this installing and uninstalling bit.
Cheers!
I believe that the problem is due to some applications you might be using.
I am experiencing problems with files disappearing/getting corrupt on mu SD-Card, where I installed all my apps and just found out that at least part of the responsability was a certain program...
Fact is that some tools/apps are not properly tested and have bug's that can mess up the filesystem, plus you should not try to use hacked/cracked programs, as they might contain routines that cause this effects on purpose.
Cheers,
vma
Another approach
I don't think this is a rogue app.
I have had the same problem dating to the first synch I did this morning.
My files won't synch - they seem unable to complete the synch. Active synch won't "stop" in mid process - and when I remove the XDA from the cradle, it won't soft reset.
A hard reset maintains the contents of "My Documents" which is not what it's meant to do.
Having spent several hours on this, I am starting to suspect that the culprit is to do with the time change. The Calender can deal with it, contacts and notes can deal with it.
Files can't. And when it fails, it leaves the XDA unstable.
It's only my working theory. But three iPaq users in the same office had a similar issue and all had to hard reset and restore - which fixed their problem.
Users who don't synch with their local machine (i.e synch with exchange are fine). Users with earlier versions of Pocket PC are fine.
Hope this helps. I was expecting every iPaq user in the world to be up in arms - so maybe I'm wrong. Its where I'm looking now though.
Spoke too soon!
Okay, so I really have to learn to let things ride for a couple of days, before saying "No, mine is fine". Well and the story goes...
I woke up this morning, reached over to my trusty (ya right) XDA, and baam, it was just sitting there. Wouldn't do anything. I sat there, thought for a sec, thought about the last backup I had done, and off to the 2 button holy grail we go (power+reset). Restored, with sprite, uninstalled O2 Plus 1.6, and now I will sit and wait again, till tomorrow morning. I think I might have to buy this sprite backup program, it's saved my a$$ more than 6 times this week alone.
Okay, so back to the drawing board. My Plan is this.
All I need O2 Plus for is the auto msn sign in, everytime GPRS is enabled or a phone call is ended. Is there any way to do this without the O2 plus app?
I will not install O2 Plus again, I will leave everything alone as is and I am going to start uninstalling 1 app at a time.
BTW, PhoneDashboard also screwed up a few days ago, it would just sit there and process like mad. I uninstalled it and everything is fine now.
And though hacked software could have anti-piracy code inside it, but if the app has bugs why would I buy it? Fix the bugs, make it decent enough to be worth the price you are asking then I will gladly buy it. It's the same reason why I wouldn't buy Windows, I only have it cause it came free with my system
ok..got some more info about our problem..this doesnt fix our problem but i just thought you guys should know, after you hard reset theres 4 shortcuts in the startup folder they are for the permanent save contacts, tasts apointments, connections. you get that flash manager error cause the permanent save program cant save it cause that was suppose to be in the Storage Folder..and the Storage Folder wont allow you to add delete or view files in it..i know ther are files in there cause if you look in memory you'll see that its ocuping 40+mb, then after a while or until your xda hangs the Storage Folder disappears
How can we unlock/view this folder? just like the Extended_ROM folder unlocker, i bet when we unlock this folder before it disappears everything will be fixed (YEA RYT!!!). well at least one problem down..
i forgot to tell you guys after you Hard reset try deleting that 4 permanentsave shortcut..you'll feel your erge to kick the crap out of your IIs a little less.
yes I always do that. that and the STK.lnk
So I uninstalled O2 Plus 1.6, and been running since yesterday morning with no problems yet. Storage is still there and things are running normally. If this goes on for another day or two, I will be convinced that O2 Plus caused the problem.
what else did you do? mine always disapears after the first soft reset..
It just happened to me for the first time while listening to music with PocketMVP. Storage disappeared and had to do a hard reset. I'm glad I had Sprite and a current backup handy. I also had O2 Plus 1.6 installed just a few hours before this happened. So as you guys suggested, I uninstalled O2 Plus 1.6, removed the 5 permanentsave files and STK.
Before I installed O2 Plus, my PPC was very stable. I only had to reset when my memory was running low since I refuse to buy an SD Card fewer than 1gig. We will see what happens in a few days.
nomadman..could you upload your backup? or maybe could upload a Flush image of your current running OS?(http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=151 ) PLEASE help man..cause that myt fix my storage problem.
I loaded ttn 6 on my phone. When I launch the app it tells me theres no maps.
I have the new rev no issues with hitting the sat's.
First it would not launch tomtom when the exe was on the sd card. Moved it to programs files and it launches.
I have the maps on my sd card. Do I have to move any files over to "my device"? what are the names?
Thanks
Maps are supposed to be on Storage card in the root folder.
for example \Storage Card\Canada_US_Maps
Tried to move them to storage card. file name is usa_canada_v.675.1. still get the same error. "No maps found"
if i click to open it gives me an error "409 is not valid pocket pc application"
think thats what the problem is?

You didn't purchase this copy of Tomtom, did you? Don't answer, we're better off not knowing.
It sounds to me if that really is a "file" (singular) you've probably got a map pack still compressed as a .RAR or .Zip or similar. What's the extension of that file? "usa_canada_v.675.1" dot what?
My point is, you have to extract the archived maps to a folder on the root of your storage card, as a1jatt mentioned. It sounds like you're trying to use or execute and archive, which isn't going to do much for you. If that doesn't make sense or you still need help let us know.

Hi,
I am getting No GPS device! when i open TomTom.
-please advice
Retesh- I've got the exact same problem. Just got my phone today, and I'm hacking away at it!
I've got a few ideas, and I'll post if I get it to work.
Well, it looks like I hit the jackpot. I'll outline what I've done today, because I'm not sure if your setup will be anything at all like mine.
The phone came brand new, so there was no need to flash to the stock ROM. I started with the instructions for updating to the ROM with REV.A and GPS from Sprint:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=24979
Credit for that one goes to TheChampJT for his Vogue Tips thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412414
I've got a Sprint Vogue, so I basically followed the instructions from 1 to 10. The wording regarding running Cokeman's unlocker was a bit vague- after you're on the tri-color screen, you DO need to remove and replace the USB cable (as the DOS window will tell you) but you DON'T need to reboot the phone and reconnect to ActiveSync.
Anyway, once that was all done I tested my internet connection via ActiveSync (I don't have a data plan). Interestingly, it works under XP, but does NOT work under Vista. I've yet to figure out why, though it isn't super important at the moment. I decided to use VetVito's V2.0 Kitchen to build a custom ROM, rather than use one of the ones in that tutorial. It was pretty easy and quick. Once that was flashed, I ran the Sprint DCD carrier cab and installed TomTom Navigator 7. This is the part you're probably interested in.
When I launched it, I got "No GPS" also. On the Satellite screen, it didn't show a single one. So, I did the following:

I modified the registry using PHM Registry Editor, which can be found here:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/Smartphone/RegEdit/
I then installed the AstroGPSLauncher, which you can get from this thread, among other places:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17225
I did use the SKShortcutManager mentioned in that thread, along with the instructions provided there. Pretty straightforward.
Then I fired up TT7, and... nothing. It said "Poor GPS Reception", but still didn't show a single one connected, locked on or otherwise. I soft rebooted, and took a walk around the block. (It was COLD out tonight!) Sure enough, after a few seconds, I showed 10 connections. It wasn't locked on, but it was trying. I watched it for about five minutes or so, until my girlfriend called. I figured then would be as good a time as any to figure out how to multitask with the phone, so I took the call while allowing the satellites to keep trying to connect.
I'm not certain of the exact length of time, but approximately five to ten minutes later it was locked to 5 satellites! I don't have great reception where I am (lots of houses with lots of wifi and satellites and other invisible noise) but it stayed connected to between 3 and 5 birds for the entire call (switched to speakerphone so I could watch ) and even now inside my house, I'm still connected.
Aaaaaanyway, my guess is that the registry tweak and using Astro were the bits that made it work. You're mileage may vary... keep in mind I'm about as big of a noob as you can be, having had this phone now for about ten hours. But it looks like a bit of research, luck, and help from the awesome folks here and at PPCGeeks is all you need. Unfortunately, if my method doesn't work, I don't think I'll be much help with troubleshooting. But give it a shot (the registry tweak and launcher) and let us know how it goes!
This is not a thread revival but my thanks to the above poster. I now have a kickass cell phone thanks to you.
Many thanks.
Hey hey everyone. I have just got myself an XDA Orbit. First few hours was working ok, then it started to not load/gps would not work atall. So i decided to get the official o2 WM6 and that seems to have done it.
But now the programs i thought were standerd arnt there no more. I had a GPS program that had some like bar graph type things, and telling me how many satiliets i was connected to. Cant remember the name now.
Other GPS tester programs ive found cant seem to connect. Is this a problem with my GPS ? As it did work for a few hours, or is there certain points where there are "blind sots" ?
EDITI just tried the GPS Test 1.04, and i got 1 green bar and one yellow. Keeps changing to either 2 yellow or one yellow. The fihures at the top still havent changed though. Not sure if this is good as this is my first phone with gps inside. If it helps my settings are:
COM Port: COM4
Baud RateL 4800.
These are what i have seen in settings looking around. I havent changed any of them.
I also have a 4GB micro SD card. This card used to work ok, but now the phone shows there is no card, and the card reader on my laptop does not pick it up either.
EDITFound out that the card i have is SDHC, and i understand that it cant run without drivers. Tried to find some but they dont seem to work. the card worked before i put the official o2 update on there.
Any advice/information/answers would be great. I apoligies for any spelling mistakes.
Hi Vildar,
Since no Orbitites have answered you I will
I was just lurking from the Diamond(Ignito) forums, I have an old Orbit too, just feeling nostalgic
I see from your edits that you are starting to find your way around the Orbit slowly
I guess that, unless there's a backup file somewhere on your SDHC card then you can kiss all the original apps goodbye after your WM6 flash. In a lot of ways that's not such a bad thing as these machines tend to get full of junk after a while (my Ignito is already)
Your GPS COM4 4800baud settings are correct, I suggest you install some GPS apps to test such as:
GPS Cycle Computer - A superb app which is what XDA-Dev is all about
Try the QVGA version of course or how about:
GPS Skinner which has the satellite signal page that might help you.
The Sirf chip in the Artemis/Orbit is much better than the Qualcomm integrated one in the Diamond IMO (and a few other peoples') so you should be able to get a good signal and a quick fix (*You HAVE run QuickGPS to update the ephemeris data haven't you???) - Search the Artemis forum to find out how to point QuickGPS at the best server.
I also found a good file manager such as Total Commander or GSFinder to be very useful
A task manager like FdcSoft this one
And/Or Magic Button
I also used RhinoLaunch
You could try running chkdsk etc. on your SD card if it won't show in your card reader, even if you have to format it you haven't lost anything after all.
If you do need to Hard Reset make sure you have kept all you application cabs somewhere safe and use the excellent Pim Backup 2.8 to backup your personal data, SMS, call history etc.
The main thing is SEARCH IS YOUR BEST FRIEND (login first for best results) read EVERYTHING and welcome to the club dude

Thanks for the reply . I have managed to get both the GPS and my Card working. Found the right driver after a while. As for the GPS, not sure how i fixed it but it all works now. But i know have a few more problems.
I have 2 navigation programs. Tomtom7, and Igo8. Igo8 freezes and dies when i go to put an address in. Works ok with postcode.
Second, is there a way i can make files i recive from bluetooth go to my storage card instead of my phone? Just a pain having to move it all to the card.
BTW Thanks for the apps. Downloading them now
Hi there,
I have an issue with the internal RAM, I think.
After some hours of using the phone, I try to start the navigation software iGo8.
Then Windows shows me a textbox with "failed to virtualize memory" or something like this. The game Xtract isn't starting either then. The memory used is at about 60-70% then but no other programs are opened. After a softreset everything works fine again until a few hours later.
Anyone else encountered a problem like this and is there any other solution except waiting for HardSPL and using a custom ROM?
ive memory usage about 67% and igo starts correctly and works fine.
have you tried htcaddicts clean ram? personally I never used on tp2 but on diamond works perfectly...

Not yet, but it sounds good. Will search and install the program. Then I will try next time iGo won't start and see if it works.
But when you say, iGo starts correctly with 67% RAM usage then maybe it's another problem with my iGo. I'm running version 8.3.2.83157 from April, 3rd 2009. It's installed on the SD-card and I copied a shortcut to the iGo.exe into the windows/startmenu folder.

I sometimes get the message 'Failed to reserve address space' when trying to run iGO8 (same version).
Still unable to identify the cause, but I'm wondering if the new HTC Touchflo 3D is doing something that's affecting it, although that is just speculation.
I can run cleanRAM @ level3 to solve it (1 and 2 don't fix it), but that obviously takes a bit of time to go through so may as well reboot.
The link given by davidebeatrice is duff.
Greetings.
I have Sprint TP2. It's a stock install except I disabled touchflo3d and i'm using plain WinMo home screen.
Ever since yesterday I noticed that when I check my phone after its been in sleep mode for a few minutes there is a small popup window waiting for me on the home screen.
Title of that popup window is "Internal Error"
Body is a red X icon and text ":0"
If i press ok button that window goes away but then after a few minutes its back.
Rebooting the phone doesn't solve this.
How would i troubleshoot/solve this?
Have you installed any software that didn't come on the phone? If so, try uninstalling one by one to see if you find your troublesome app. If you have all stock software the best bet would be to hard reset. But be sure to backup all data (contact, text messages, etc) if you hard reset.
I have the same issue. mxxcon, did you ever determine root cause?
I'm getting the same thing on both of my Touch Pro 2's, one is with Verizon and the other is with U.S. Cellular, and it seems to have started for me tonight. It's not hurting anything that I can tell, just annoying. However, I'm not seeing it on my HTC Pure (AT&T), so it seems to be specific to the Touch Pro 2.
Edit-It looks like it might be related to the newest version of Google Maps, I wonder if leaving it running in the background is causing this?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=99760
I have the same issue on my ATT Fuze. It is definitely the goggle map application, I wonder if its cause i have it running on the SD card.
Anyone else having the problem?
i think its has to do with lattitude with google maps when you exit say no to keep shareing your location i just tried it let ya know what happens

Thanks for the idea.
ATT Tilt, WM6.1
I nominate for The 2010 Most Useless Error Message Award ":0" --> read: "I have no plonking clue." LOL!!!
Hard reset, install google maps 3.1 to SD, returns :0 on the first try.
(It -may- have even trashed my email and messaging - desktop icons stopped working - but not willing to re-re-re-re-reinstall to test that further.)
Just for fun, uninstall GM, install from CAB to SD and returns :0 simply on the **install**!!!!!!
Hard reset, changed install to main memory rather than SD, and it installed and ran perfectly on the first try. Several soft resets later it still runs like a bunny.
Actually GM is working better than previously. I used to get constant failures from GM to connect to the GPS in the phone ('not found' and such). I used to have to -first- turn on VisualGPSce, and -then- GM would find it immediately. GM is now aaallll grown up and can now do that aaallll by itself.
Have a day!
