im wondering which i should us nfsfans 6.1 or 6.5
are there incompatibilities with 6.5?
what are its major advantages/disavantages?
does nfsfan actually still update his 6.1 rom?
any info is appreciated
thanks
Go with 6.1
NFSFAN no longer updates 6.1, but it is much more stable than its 6.5 counterpart, runs smoother, and everything just works. My main issue with 6.5 is the marking of threaded sms messages, I text message a lot, and if the text message window is open when you receive a text it doesn't mark it as read, which I find super annoying. 6.1 all the way! Also, 6.5 doesn't add much, runs slower and is buggier and if your gonna be using Manilla on your home screen anyway you won't even notice the physical appearance difference. Go 6.1, wish he still updated it though

I tried 6.5 back in the earlier V9-10 days, I found I had grown accustomed to 6.1, that it did run a bit smoother. In the end, I didn't feel I gained anything from 6.5, so went back to 6.1. Best thing to do, test them both out. Run each for 3 or 4 days, then choose.
To each his own, but personally I love 6.5. It just seems more finger friendly than 6.1, it is still being updated, and I have yet to find any compatibility issues.
When flashed correctly, 6.5 runs smoother. Finger scrolling is much more natural and visually pleasant. It is also much more finger friendly.
I do not have any problem using V16 and all my apps are running well (TomTom GPS, CDMA dialer, text, data...)
Try them both if you wish and then make your mind but 6.5 is now very stable and most old issues have been solved or will be in V17...
I would never ever go back to old 6.1
the new v17 6.5 is the final retail version of 6.5 and is worlds faster and smoother than 6.1
actually i perfer 6.5.
wayy more finger friendly and win6.1's suretype didn't do anything good for me. i'm a texting fan, so i needed full keyboard. vibration feedback good quality to have in a touchscreen phone.
plus it looks way nicer.

The latest 23081 6.5.1 build makes 6.5 look like Windows 5.0 in terms of finger friendliness. I'm telling you, try Vin's latest 23081 build and see the future!!
I tried NFSFANS 6.5 but becasue of minimum backlight higher than stock ROM, and poor Chinese font support, now flashed back to stock WM6.1. Where is latest NFSFANS WM6.1 ? I didn't find in this forum.
Hello
I need 6.1 rom of NFSSAN.But nowhere available. Can anybody give me link or upload here?
I'm going back to 6.1 I've tried every 6.5 available here and the all have different issues, mostly just slugishness. Maybe it's not the future and maybe I flashed wrong( not really sure that's possible) but back when I ran 6.1 everything always worked and worked immediately.
Maybe my phone is messed up somehow but it just doesn't seem like it can handle 6.5

If you want speed you need to go with 6.5.X and flash Vin's 23506 ROM, that is the future.

I am not trying to market anything here, bu have you tried mine? It is pretty fast, at least from what I have been able to test.
28014 23506_v4??
Just a tad confused - Which one is the latest? 28014 or 23506_v4?
Or are these two different builds altogether?

23506 is about a month and a half old. 28014 is about 2 1/2 weeks old.
Cool. Thx!
Greetings, diamond users. Yesterday, I joined your company, and bought HTC 3700.
So, have some questions now:
1. Which radio firmware is most stable on Diamond? Are those x-peria ones better than natives?
2. Is there a reason to install WM6.5 instead of 6.1? I succesfully SPL-ed my diamond, and filled it with 6.1 by Korand, it seems to be ok. But, maybe 6.5 is much more reliable, what do you think?
Sorry for creepy english.

1) It's a question of personal choice... Try some out, see which one feels best.
2) Some people like the UI changes in 6.5, some people don't. Try it out, see what you like.
In general, we don't know what you like, so read threads see what people say about a ROM/Radio, download a few you like the look of, flash them, and see what you like!
I like scrolling better in 6.5 it is much more smoother.
it feels like iPhones scrolling (sorry for cursing )
hehe iPhone scrolling, but yeah it's true, i think that windows 6.5.1 is much more finger friendly than windows 6.1
but still it's a personal choice
i really like the interface of 6.5 (chome / titanium)
but i change rom every week so.. xD
The best ROM I have found so far was DIB Diamond 1.33. The reason for this is that it had EVERYTHING a complete N00b like me needed. e.g. the apps to change registry, customise other menus, the colour changes, and other little bits n pieces to keep me playing on the journey home or when I was bored. But now, i'm looking for speed and plain ROMs so that I can customise to what I would like.
Good luck playing and having fun customising
I don't know why but text messages on my US TMOB TP2 make this phone one of the most irritating devices I have ever owned. I am using stock 6.1 and the device lags so incredibly it is beyond description. One of the reasons that I purchased this particular model was because I wanted to be able to bang out quick text messages hence a full qwerty keyboard. I sometimes have to wait over a minute for it to stop thinking before I can access my messaging. And god forbid I am actually trying to accomplish something when somebody interrups me with a text message. Can I down grade this to WM5? I have almost had it!!!
Is it just me, or are a large percentage of the people who complain about this phone with T-Mobile?
From my experience my unbranded TP2 is just great using hardware keyboard
Of course not better keyboard then my beloved Universal but from the new devices TP2 is the best one with kb this days
I feel ya!
Well I do not have the T-Mobile TP2 but I have a Tilt 2 and on the stock WM6.5 is could get laggy if I have a lot of messages.... try clearing your inbox and that will help out! Now that may take a while to actually do the clearing, but don't worry the device is still deleting. My recommendation would be to look around the Rhodium ROM development forum and read up on custom ROMs or maybe an official T-Mobile 6.5 ROM. I am currently using TPC's ROM which should work w/o a problem on your T-Mobile TP2!
It really is a great phone and has one of the best keyboards around imo! So if you are willing to go for it and try an after-market ROM I recommend it, and its pretty easy although ya know you run a few risks (albeit low)!
Good Luck to ya!
Oh and no I do not think WM5 is an option!
i have a tmo tp2 and i have NEVER experienced keyboard issues. You prolly have very low memory problems or cache issues...if ur getting lag you prolly need to check your memory in task mnger and see how much program memory is in usage. download app called clean ram its a good utility to clear up loose memory.Delete history in your internet browser also when need be, stuff like this for cleanin up your memory is mandatory, also see the thread about TMO keyboard fix and see if you need that cab, search rhodium app section. You may have a bad/recalled phone also so i suggest you take it back to tmo if your still having problems afterwards.
This is stock ROM for you.
I had similar issues, but a cooked WM6.5.1 ROM reduced lags considerably.
Still, Windows Mobile leaves much to be desired.
My RAM is never above 56%. I do not run many multiple apps simultaneously. This issue of mine is not keyboard related either. It is software related because it doesn't matter whether I am using the keyboard or not. It just seems like the messaging portion just has a lot of thinking to do. I tap to view something and it just stalls out. Every other app runs fairly smooth. Sending picture messages basically is a 5 minute job. Very annoying. It also doesn't matter if I am using TF3D or not.
I've not done much in the way of messaging yet, but I've noticed that anytime I let PIE or Windows Explorer do anything that requires them to access the filesystem the wait begins. I've tried tweaking the cache size with Memmaid and it helped a bit, but it's still unacceptably slow. Enough to where I never ever use Windows Explorer now, and don't let PIE access the filesystem on the SD card.
I'm not trying to hijack your thread here. I think that your problem is my problem and it has to do with a defect in our devices that causes extreme slowness when the filesystem needs to be read by the OS, or specifically how that is implemented on this particular device. My iPaq 210 has no problem, Windows Explorer on it is almost instant in reading all filesystems, even the Windows directory itself. And with any of my many CE, PPC, and WM devices I've never had a similar problem.
you got some other issues going on, the stock tmobile rom was glorious for me, although now im on a official 6.5 rom euro style. Its got nothing to do with being tmobile either, and this place is mostly gsm thats why theres mostly tmobile complaints, and its been out longer than at&ts........
i never had a problem with the stock rom for tmobile either.
Try out SMS-Chat from VITO. That thing is faster than lightening to text with.
Man, I am PRETTY sure I was reading on XDA the first week TP2 came out for Tmo about HTC sending out devices with memory error? like some devices not having as much RAM as stated? I could be wrong by try to search. Maybe it could be that? warranty what?
Oh, and I am a texting whore (10,000-15,000/month EASY) thanks to my job and lifestyle and I have tried many phones in my life...the TP2 is amazing.
My gripe with the TP2 (or TMo Vario V with a stock TMo 6.5 ROM) is the inconsistency of the UI.
I get a different texting screen if I start texting from favourite people or from the all contacts list.
The "all programs" listing is different when started from the manila tab or from the windows key/symbol. And I didn't even start ranting on the subject of the calendar ...

This is why I ditched the HTC UI ASAP and went with a custom 6.5 ROM with Titanium...thing's a beast!
Hard reset solved the problem. Thinking of custom 6.5 ROM now since TMOBUS doesn't look promising.
Hi!
As we all know our little beloved Diamond has serious issues with RAM when using WinMo 6.5,right?Especially with Sense or Touch Flo 3D.And that lack of RAM causes it to be laggy and on the wrong side of "smoothly functional".So a thought crossed my head...Is there a way we can create a Swap space in the internal storage?Because the way I see it you must either be ok with the fact that the phone works with limited RAM and problems,or get stuck with WinMo 6.1...
I thought exactly that the other day. Lots of (slow) storage and little free ram.
I had out of memory issues with 6.1 so it's not just the new os.
6.5 is just so much slicker and finger-friendly I don't want to go back.
Yeah, that's exactly my point!6.5 is so much better! Why not find a way to help it function better?Well,6.1 is also nice, especially with Sense, but 6.5 is something way cooler!
So,is there something we can do?And I'm not speaking about SK tools or whatever RAM cleaning software!
My sister has had the Tilt2 for a few months now, and it is really bogging down and running slow.
I put her on Opera Mini5, and that works great for her, but the OS is really laggy.
I do not know much about WM6.5, so I thought I would ask:
If you had a Tilt2 that is completely stock, and could only do a couple easy mods to it for performance, what would you do?
Thanks in advance...

Thanks.
I will look these over.
In addition to the above, One of the best things to do is set up Opera Mobile to actually close when hitting the "x". That may be covered by disabling push internet but I don't think so. By default, opera is always running in the background.
I can't find it now, but there is a cab somewhere that will allow it to actually close and give that memory back. If no one else has that, take a look at this post, it tell about half way down how to do it with a registry edit.
Download and run Crudscraper to regain 40-50MB storage RAM and lighten Program RAM to 60% in-use idle.
