Wisbar Advanced Desktop 2 or Touch FLow 3D???
Ive had my HD for a week now and barely scratched the surface of this fantastic piece of kit, Im still running the bog standard HTC TF3D theme/homescreen, the thing is, the more WAD2 stuff I see, the more I like. I've checked out www.lakeridgesoftware.com and www.swampthing.net and I think Im going to go with WAD2. Just wondering what the general opinion is...pros and cons?
Thanks guys, great forum btw !
pros : you can do just about anything you want with WAD
Cons : steep learning curve I've found

Ok mate, thanks. Presumably by steep learning curve, it depends how far you are willing or 'able'(!) to go into it? There seems to be alot of info floating around here and other net forums.
Any more opinions?
I'm using WAD2 as of right now and love all the capabilities of the software. I agree that it is a steep learning curve but for us WM users, isn't that one of the pluses for owning these awesome devices? WAD2 outperforms TF3D as far as usefulness functionality.
The only thing I miss about TF3D is the weather animation...which I believe will soon be incorporated somehow in WAD2!
TF3D looks pretty to start with but it always seems to take me 1 or 2 taps/slides more than I would like to do what I want.
WAD2 lets me configure my home screen exactly as I want. I have my most common contacts, playlists, application shortcuts and notifications all in one place.
If you use Davideuck's ROM he also includes wkTask which works great for me alongside WAD2. I use WAD2 desktop mainly for notifications, agenda display, contact shortcuts and a few useful but less frequent application shortcuts. I use the downward swipe feature of wkTask to call up a launcher with my 12 most common shortcuts (which can be called up from anywhere). I'm sure you can install wkTask separately but I would recommend Davideuck's ROM as it's very stable and seems to fly along with great battery life.
Cheers,
David
Thanks for the answers guys, think I'll go with WAD 2.

Is there a way to keep theTouch Flo interface and just make WAD2 like a softkey shortcut on the homescreen of TouchFlo? It would be cool if I could switch interfaces on the fly like that

Do a search for "Second Today". I've heard that this program will allow something like this to be done... not quite sure how it work as I haven't tried it myself yet.

There are actually a couple other threads asking this same question. I haven't seen any skins for our WVGA screens as of yet.
I do know that SPB is coming out with an updated version of Mobile Shell here soon and from the you tube videos I've seen, it looks pretty nice. Maybe then we will start seeing skins for our HDs.

It's an update to 3.0 if I'm not mistaken but it will support WVGA and many other screen resolutions. By the looks of it others may start to use is again which will hopefully get the artists working on some nice skins...that is if the default one isn't nice enough.
Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWzppakWPLI

No, there is many themes for HD on the previous site. Go on "skins", then kyro or luna. You can go too on the tab "options" and select what you want to see. You can make your own theme with this program (which need mortscript installed) : you can choose icons menu, icons program, wallpaper, icons notifications, meteo, analog or digital clock (many choice...), the weather...
It really rocks for SPB Mobile Shell !

I've never seen this site before. It does say it is for Mobile Shell 2.1 so you may be able to try and skin it for WVGA. With 3.0 coming out soon I think this will all change as far as how their software will be skinned.

Give it a try, this really rocks. Once installed, you can customize almost everything in options !
Besides, you got a "comm manager" when you click on the "task bar".
The skin change app continues to improve with each update though the background images have not really changes button and weather icon options have
I cant get it to work, it says "cannot find mobile shell 3,0" wich i have indstalled. I did follow the instructions for the theme program.
I had the opportunity to play with a Hero yesterday and I loved the fact that their Sense UI had multiple "profiles" or themes, so, for example, I could have one set of screens and widgets for work, and another for personal.
Is there a software that permits me to have the same on Windows Mobile? Thx
try this

Don't try it because ageye can't manage BT on/off
Thanks, but G-Profile is not what I had in mind. G-Profile offers settings profiles, whereas with Sense UI, you can set how the Home screens look, e.g., you can have one group of contacts for Favorites for work and another for personal.
Thanks anyway.

Not in that thread, as you say, but feel free to look at other threads. They are there. Maybe they are slow on the uptake on supporting WM 6.5.
Is it any better than TF3D? Should i just wait for windows mobile 6.5?
Thanks in advance!

Why don't you try it? It's a big cab and it has a limited (15 days?) trial.
I ran it a little on my TP and went back to touchflo, it is nice though, definitively worth trying!

Plus you can toggle from TF3D to SPB when you want...

The calender is WAY better than the Touch Flo, but other than that, it is just personal preference.
I think SPB shell is much better, due to the ability to customize. Pretty active community as well, meaning a steady supply of new widgets and customizations. Plus it's easy on the battery.
Definitely recommend the 15 day trial.
Since there are no custom roms for the CMDA version I currently use it. I prefer it over touch flow as you can customize it alot more and it uses alot less memory than TF3D does. It has a nice interface and it's fun to use if you get bored with TF3D or regular WinMo 6.1. If you are resourceful enough, you can use it for more than the trial.
tried SPB Mobile Shell,it's gorgous,of course it's better than Malina TouchFlo3D,I like it so much.
but i had to uninstall SPB Mobile Shell, the reason? it is not good at organizing calls and SMS,when there is miss call,SPB Mobile Shell only shows it for a while, then there is no indication you can see that there was a miss call.
this is terribly bad management.
IMHO it was worth it prior to TF3D as plain Windows Mobile 6 was pretty boring.
Now however its kinda like the old guy at the club.
I think touchflo looks nice and clean....BUT, mobile shell is crazy on the personnalization. ? 6 pages for personnalization + weather total of 17 pages with contacts and others .....I love it !
Take a look, it's sence la révolution v2 theme

I tried it for day. But I like TF3D better. It's just simpler to me.
Here ya go ! It's in french but if you look around in the posts you will find someone who made a english copy, or just altered a few files to make it english.

Looking forward to that, I'm always changing and opened to new ideas !
Touch Flo has some serious usability problems.
Email and text messaging for instance.
If you want to check those it is a 3 step process most of the time.
SPB did a really good job making it basically a one touch method.
The eye candy is not as good and the calendar needs work but overall its faster to get things done with basically no lag.
The facebook integration IMO is better as well.
Worth the money.
I installed this theme and nothing is displaying correctly. Any ideas on what went wrong/ It seems like nothing is centered correctly.

I haven't had this issue at all. My notifications stay until I view them.
MS3 is always the first program I install on my phones. Love it, can't live without it. I live on the lifestyle screen, customized just how I like it.
I tried it a couple of days ago, and I guess I'm just getting old. There was a LOT of customization that you could do with it but I just didn't feel like going through all that to get it the way I wanted it. Out the box, I still couldn't get what I was looking for. I switched back to TF3D, but that's not to say that one is better than the other. It's really personal choice. I got pretty much all I need with a few tweaks and TF3D, but if I get bored, the Hero skin for SPB MS3 is looking really good.
Does anyone have any idea why when i install this theme it makes everything on my screen jibberish?

I haven't personally installed the theme, I just googled it to see what came up. Try googling it (sence la révolution v2 theme) and looking it up from another website. There are a ton of spb mobile shell theme web sites. There are bunch on here as well.
Edit...Actually, here is the info on here about it. I was bored and searched it. Check this out.

Also a bonus pack has been released!

It's been almost a year since this has been posted, but I do still agree!
Rainmeter with the Omnimo theme is great on a tablet! But without my Outlook E-mail, calendar, notes and tasks a large part of it is pretty much useless.
The future looks bright...
