Touch Pro 2 Keyboard question... - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Since the touch diamond 2 and the HD have an on screen keyboard, will the touch pro have one too? reason i ask, i just tried a qwerty keyboard, [not a five row, but a three], and i found it some what uncomfortable. I like my keyboard that came on my Shadow, much like the one that came on the HTC Touch Dual. [in fact, it is the same exact keyboard. i think the phones are the same, except for the shadows lack of a touch screen.] Anyways, does anyone know if the TP2 will come with the on screen keyboard along with the slide out? just a thought. i think regardless of whether or not it has the on screen keyboard, ill have to suck it up and relearn my typing. just like on any new phone you would buy..
thanks,
josh.

I have had my T-Mobile Dash for a year I love it. Well my friend wants to buy me a t-mobile mda and I am not sure on that. The only reason he wants to get me the mda is because I am always having to adjust the volume,Either it is to high or to low. Right now I have it sit so you use it for in calls only but still you got to adjust it can someone help out? Can anyone give me the pros and cons with mda and the dash?
Well i don't know about the other phone but what i do on dash is simply make a call, set volume to max using jogger bar then end call. Then turn jogger off and you don't have to worry about changing volume or it being changed.
I preferably do not like the MDA because of the touch screen feature which you have to use a stilus. Some people prefer touch screen with the stylus but I think a touch screen phone like the iphone is the best because you actually use your fingers instead of a stylus.

...or just use your fingernail (at least that is what one of my peers at work does and he seems to manage just fine).

Yah thats true... It sucks though especially when you do not have long fingernails.

How is the touch screen?

It is inevitable that I will be getting one of these when ever it comes to ATT but I am wondering, is the touch screen any better than the kaiser? The only thing that I like about the iphone is the fact that the touch screen just seems to work much better as far as scrolling(not multi-touch).
Thanks in advance!
The touchscreen is much improved from the Touch Pro. I think this is as close as a resistive touchscreen can get to a
capacitive touchscreen the iPhone has. Only subtle pressure needed no navigate and press buttons.

I have a TD2 but in all honesty I bet the touch tech on the TP2 is the same. I thought the TD was nice and responsive. The TD2 is perfect. In My Honest Opinion it is way better than a capacitive screen like the iphone and ipod touch. Capacitive is way too sensitive and I always get wrong inaccurate presses on my ipod touch. Especially when I use my thumb. The resistive screen also allows you to type much faster seeing as you don't have to lift your thumbs all the way up.
With the TP2 though you have a hard keybaord so that wouldn't matter. But I type really quick on my TD2. Way faster than I ever could on my ipod touch. I say go for it when AT&T gets it.

awesome thanks! TP2 was my only option anyway, WM is so much better than the iPhone OS.

Thats great to hear
I have a similar question... On my Kaiser (which now has a broken screen... again!) I found that (surprise!) the screen is too sensitive.
So here's my question: Is the screen structurally the same (i.e. a thin sheet of plastic over a finger-nail-thick LCD?
If so I might be very hesitant to buy one.

Screen Sensitivity

Hi you Desire owners.
Can you please tell me what the screen sensitivity is like?
Is it smooth? I have large fingers - is the keyboard and the buttons large finger friendly?
I am so used to a stylus just using my fingers would be a change.
Shame HTC dont keep resistive screens.
Cheers

I have fairly bit hands as well and have also come from a stylus based phone (Touch HD) and I have no issues with the screen, it is very sensitive and that takes a bit of getting used to.
The keyboard is very good, I have no issues typing with my thumbs

[RESOLVED] Multi-touch buggy?

Hey,
Is it common to all firmwares or even all droid phones that the multi-touch is a little buggy?
Anything that involves pressing the screen with two fingers at once seems to involve it getting pretty confused unless it's something simple like zoom (even then, it's not nearly as nice as on an iphone - google maps and website zooming sometimes gets it wrong).
Is this a 2.1 issue? Or a Desire issue?
Also sometimes when I'm typing fast on the onscreen keyboard it will show up as if I've dragged my finger from place to place.
Yes it is buggy as the screen can only support two touches and no more or it gets confused. The iPhone has the best multi touch screen out imo. But for normal pinching and zooming the desire works fine.
The screen on the Desire isnt really multitouch capable. It's more like "pinch & zoom multitouch" and thats it.
All of HTC phone's have this problem, due to the panel they use. IMO Galaxy S has a damn good multi-touch, as good as the iPhone.
The screen is dual touch. But even that's a lie because it can only see one touch, even with two fingers. It sees it s a big touch in the shape of a square with your two fingers on opposite corners. Trouble is it doesn't know which corners and has to guess (gets it right most of the time).
The moral of the story is don't press two keys at the same time.

Not all.
The Incredible and the EVO use different touch panels which support more than 2 points. I'd expect the Desire HD and Desire Z will too.

Dave
im pretty sure its the drivers they use rather than the panels themselves

No it's the panels! Same as the nexus one (Synaptics ClearPad 2000). Also it sucks for multitouch.
Ahh! That's the reason that I can't play very well these games using controls and buttons painted in the screen, it looks not very responsible some times... Like snes emulator!

Thanks for the replies, folks. Very interesting.
One thing that I've found, quite regularly, is that the zoom is Google Maps screws up and zooms in instead of out, or out instead of in. Yet this never happens in the web browser...
Sorry but this thread sucks, i just read the headlines:
[RESOLVED] Multi-touch buggy?
For me it sounded the issue is resolved, but only this dumb question..
If the replies here are correct, eg,

then how come applications like Gensoid (Sega Genesis/Megadrive emulator) work? The application uses multitouch, one side of the screen for the d-pad and the other for the ABC buttons. Works pretty well too.

Go on then. Smart arse.
im really curious, was the multitouch issue solved with the super lcd screens that are shipping with the desire now?
I have the SLCD version and i can play emulators just fine. Eg: Snes super metroid running while holding down right trigger and firing rocket. No lag or input issues. Can even do this with the Wii classic controller plugged into the wiimote.

This is a known issue that affects every Desire.

AFAIK the screen has nothing to do with this.. the screen is the first layer, then comes the touch panel and then some kind of scratch resistant glass/plastic/whatever.
And the touch panel is the problem here..

if you multi-touch on the screen and your fingers does NOT cross the other finger's axis (X-Axis OR Y-Axis) than you are fine.
but if one of your fingers started to cross one of the other finger's axis, than you are screwed.
thats why the smart people who made SNES and other emulators made an option for the Dpad to be on one corner and the other buttons on the opposite corner, this way you could avoid axis crossing (which is a problem for the Desire and nexus one and other phones that have the same display type)
In HTC's defence, they never publicly mentioned/announced that the Desire is multi-touch, they only mentioned that is has "pinch-to-zoom capability" ...

[Q] any one noticed the bottom right keyboard touch issue??

hey guys,
this is my second week with this device and it is very nice, the battery life is amazing, and the quality of it is OK.
I am having an issue with my note 2 Keyboard, Samsung Keyboard or even any keyboard from the market, the issue is, I need to touch the letters (L, M and backspace) twice some times, it is not happening always, as I said, I feel like I need to focus my press on these letters to response, any one having this issue? do you think it is software or hardware related?
