My question is...when will an unlocked version that will work on At&t's 3G networks be available.
Would an unlocked T-Mobile version work on At&t's 3G network?

t-mobile runs on a different highspeed 3g band than att so as the international version...att need 850 and 1900 highspeed 3g band...of course the tmobile and international version would work but edge be the max connection you would get

T-Mobile's 3G (AWS) runs on 1700mhz/2100mhz (up/down)
ATT's 3G is 850mhz/1900mhz (up/down)
EDGE is somewhat universal, will work on both networks
There are rumors of a version of TP2 that has all US 3G bands? (850mhz/1700mhz/1900mhz/2100mhz)
- highly unlikely....

im just guessing but, tmobile touchpro 2 coming out in july my prediction is ATT will have theirs anywhere between august to november...thing with ATT they dont announce or preview any their phones until the release...only big promotion i remember they did for a phone is iphone. i dont care if they change the keybord to FUZE style fn i just want the phone on ATT sooner than later. Highspeed internet is very important, cause people using these type of phone mainly use it more than just phone calls and sms....

My only AT&T contact says the scuttlebutt is that the Tilt2 (Touch Pro 2) would not be available until early December 2009 and it would be on Windows Mobile 6.5. He said the phone was initially expected in November but software issues with AT&T blowtware may have pushed it back a few weeks. I have a pre-order for this phone and I currently own the European version and even though it only functions on EDGE it is still the hands down best phone I have ever seen.

how can you preorder the tilt 2?

Ahh, December, don't say that! October 6, or I just might not make it!
I'm so completely done with this Tilt it's not funny!

I too am hoping for October. I can't wait for December ^^
I finally sold my Tilt on ebay because I couldn't stand it anymore. In the beginning it was a great phone but over time of course the signal went to crap (at least where I am at). I posted an honest auction and it sold quickly. Now I have a Samsung Eternity as a backup phone until the Tilt 2 comes out. I soooooooooo miss Windows, GPS, Voice Command..etc...so if I have to wait anything more than the first two weeks of October I am going to scold AT&T and hold a grudge.
Who the hell cares about their stupid bloatware...don't add it. I don't need teaser trials of stupid games and apps. If I want them I can install them myself.

I saw a writeup of the Verizon TP2 that said it supported GSM.
From their Website...
EV–DO, 1X RTT capable (Rev. A capable); GSM Quad Band (GSM/GPRS/EDGE); UMTS/WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA
Does that mean you can drop in a ATT sim and you are off and running?

I am tired of AT&T, all the other big guys has release it, and them keep the silence...
I am going to verify if the sprint one (wich has a Sim card) can be unlock... any one here knows that???

the new ATT rebate form is gonna be online 09-20 so lets see if the tilt 2 gonna be on that list...if so we are ready to hit that order button. but i agree i would but very piss if its a december release.

I considered a T-Mobile TP2, but I don't want that awful keymap where I'd have to shift constantly for every bit of punctuation. Waiting for the Tilt 2.

both sprint and verizon have a sim slot for international use if you travel...it can be unlock but most u can get it edge for ATT im not sure about tmobile.

im not sure how the flashing and installing custom rom will work on spring and verizon eventhough its clear they run on cdma but it also has sim slot running on gsm so i dunno if HARD SPL will work on it...ill just wait for ATT

TP2: Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, ... where to turn?

Wow - looks like everyone is about to come out with their version of the TP2. The question for me now is - who to sign up with? What are the pros & cons of CDMA vs GSM versions? I've read about bad customer support with Sprint. Who's got the better (stable, coverage, speed) network? Any incentive to go unlocked?
Thank you!
I'll be getting one w/ tmobile usa because of the plan prices, great support, and GSM any where in the world!!
im going with Verizon,, im a sales man, and i need a reliable network.. if i dont get any signal i will lose clients. so im going with the best network in the US. you want the best you have to pay for it.

Personally I never lose reception in the U.S but I guess it all depends, so that is a good reason to go with Verizon, but I am gonna get it for T-mobile cause of an existing contract, otehr wise I think I would want to get it for [email protected]
If you want a weakened and crippled phone with horrible customer service then Verizon is definitly the way to go.
If you want a Touch Pro2 that works worldwide, that can be unlocked to any network, then go with AT&T or T-Mobile. Personally, I would go with AT&T as they have a larger 3G coverage throughout the US.

I tend to agree, I am an ex- verizon guy and had to deal with the slow phone deliveries, dumb down hardware issues(Thank God for XDA) as well as the CDMA not in use with the majority of the rest of the world.
If you need world wide connectivity and the best US 3G, Att is your best bet, but to be honest who deploys first tends to win. I guess the race is on.
Price, world-wide connectivity, un-crippled phone features, and customer support all point to Sprint as the best choice for someone about to choose a carrier for the first time and wanting the TP2.
The reports you've read about Sprint's CS are BS. I've been with them for 3 years and have had many opportunities to work with customer support and have walked away from the experience satisfied and better off every time. They clearly have been and continue to work hard to turn around a bad customer service department, and it's paying off.
Also, in all that time I've not had a single dropped call, save for one area between me and my office that is a "dead zone" that no carrier apparently covers (I car pool and we all use different carriers. We all drop at the same place).
I vote for Sprint. Better data network than ATT and T-Mo combined plus i read that Sprint's version is going to be dual mode (CDMA/GSM 900/1800?).
So you get good CDMA coverage in the States and when abroad, pop in a SIM and use a local GSM network. Works for me that way.
First of all, the Sprint and Verizon versions ARE global. They are CDMA and GSM. Get it straight people.
I have been with Verizon since before they were Verizon, and I have had absolutely ZERO issues with customer service, billing, phone replacement, coverage, dropped calls, etc. That is also having lived in 2 different regions of the country in that time.
I agree, they're sometimes slow to release phones, and hopefully the TP2 crippling isn't reminiscent of the TP1, but we'll have to wait and see. It all comes down to the best network in your area. In mine, Verizon is hands down the best, followed by AT&T second, a tin can with a string 3rd, and Sprint 4th.

Yes, Sprint is CDMA, and the Touch Pro2 for Sprint and Verizon will be dual mode (CDMA/GSM).
im an existing tmo customer (very happy with their service) and am craving to get tp2, but willing to switch to at&t since my contract with tmo has expired and i might get a better price at at&t as a new customer
sprint .. eh .. not sure, maybe
would be great if someone could do an in depth side-by-side comparison of these companies, like prices, features, extras ..
for example, i found out that at at&t and sprint you get to listen to pandora for free, but not on tmo, also engadget figured that at&t has better 3G than others, stuff like that
in general, question stands - tmo, att or sprint?
well, the CDMA phones cannot use voice and Data at the same time. so that's a big deal.
coverage and network speed vary largely depending on area. and nobody knows what the phone will cost yet through any of the carriers.
good, something new, kinda rules out sprint

tmo hands down.... check billshrink.com to compare all four carriers (its not endorsed by any carriers by the way)
Hope this isn't a thread hijack.. what's the scoop on ROM support for CDMA versions of HTC phones? (I see the posts about TP2 being CDMA+GSM)
I've been here flashing ROMs for 8125/8525/8925, but always had a GSM version... and have really NOT noticed ROMs for the CDMA flavors of those phones..
Sprint appears to offer me the best price for a family plan with 2 data phones + messaging (~$130 vs. $170/month if I've got my info correctly), so I'm thinking heavily about dropping ATT after ~8 years... but wanted to be sure I wouldn't lose access to all the fantastic ROMs from XDA.

Any news on release dates for the different carriers?

Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2 to land September 11th, $199.99

Finally
Check this: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009...ss-touch-pro2-to-land-september-11th-for-199/
Finally..verizon tp2 is not crippled
Engadget has a leaked internal memo confirming this as well.
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/09/04/htc-touch-pro2-graces-verizon-on-september-11/
This brings me back to the question, does anyone know if it will at all be possible to unlock this for use on US AT&T 3G?
So it will be $489.99 without contract right??

According to that leaked memo, yeah.
Anyone know if its possible to unlock for US AT&T 3G? I'd pay $500 in a heartbeat for no contract, an actual number row, green (I'm a green whore), for once not crippled by Verizon version...
nothing personally to any of you, but I've had Verizon, and i'd rather have a a GSM network that I can swap Sim's on, and switch phones when I like.
The Cdma network, has great coverage and clarity, but I'd rather have the freedom of what phone do I want today

Is there a phone better than the tp2? No then there is no need to swap!
I'm surprised more people haven't responded to this. As a long time Verizon customer, this announcement MADE MY DAY!
I called the Verizon 800-number and was told that it is indeed releasing on the 11th... can't wait! I'm going to use my NE2 $50 off and hopefully get some kind of retention discount since I'm out of contract... $149 after rebate minus whatever I can finangle , will be a nice upgrade from my XV6800/HTC Titan.
Does anyone think they will allow for preorders or will it be a grab for it on the day it launches?
Yep - the VZN TP2 is very much on my radar. I have been very happy with my current Moto A4500 (Q9 Napoleon) running WM 6.1 Standard, but looking forward to a touch screen interface. Actually, one of the nice things about VZN is that I can toggle between devices via the dial up "device programming app:" *228 option 3.

I don't think it'll work on domestic GSM networks though, just overseas. I have an Ozone with Verizon and it came with a Verizon/Vodaphone SIM installed, but when I try to access AT&T's network here it can't.
Edit-According to Phonescoop, it's not approved by the FCC to access domestic GSM, even though it can do 1900 and 850. I imagine the same will be true of the TP2.
I was told that the phone would be available for online ordering only on Sept 11th. I was so disappointed as I was planning to open up at the store to get the 1st one!
Has anyone else heard this?

part of me wants the nexus, so updates are always out.. but there's always xda XD.
oh no! what if I buy an att desire for t-mobile, will I get 3g?
Oh please Heavenly Lord don't give such a beast to such a undeserving network! Let them stick with the iphone.
And to the above you will get 2G only!!!
Down with AT&T!!!!
This phone should come to T-Mobile since they need an exclusive phone (the nexus one doesn't count because of that lame arse plan you have to get) that is really good.
Stick with your iPhone AT&T. You need the fanboys going over to you and let the "real" carriers get the Android phones.
I thought Tmobile was getting this phone??
I don't see why everone is dogging AT&T? ya i'm not in love with the carrier or iphone. In fact i'm one the biggest iphone haters alive, but AT&T is the only service where I get 3g and it is FAST. T-MOBILE gets edge at best on the nations 3rd largest carrier. I know AT&T doesn't get good service in some big cities but the best option for me and my area within a 250 mile rdaius. You should be excited att id getting an droid phone, but of course att will some how screw with android with some yahoo android apps or something.
Desire!
This is most likely my next device. I am so glad to see that AT&T saw fit to get a real HTC with great specs. I have been anxiously awaiting which HTC device was coming my way. There is no way I was going to settle for the Backflip! They may also be getting the Sony Ericcson X10 which is also a nice device, but in my opinion nothing compared to the Desire. The confirmed Dell mini 3 is not even a consideration, but the mini 5 would definately have my attention. Cant wait to hear a release date, I know what I'm getting myself for my Bday in May if the release date works out.

Your carrier fanboyism aside, I don't want an iphone. I can't switch to T-mobile. Know why? Because there's no T-mobile 3G where I live.
Millions of americans are in the same predicament, and choices are usually limited 1 or 2 carriers. For east Orlando, that means VZW or AT&T. Hence, despite T-mobile's awesome prices and great phones (I wanted an N1, HD2 and an N900, guess whose network they only work with?), there's an important reason why they're still #4- they keep avoiding us. So piss off...
That said, I want an N1 or Desire... hurry up AT&T!!!

Will the desire with its current specification run on at&t 3G network? I noticed the 850 band is only labeled GSM, while the 900/2100 is labeled HSDPA.

No. Need to wait for a US version otherwise the best you'll get is edge.
Lol, I have AT&T and I'll stay with them only if I can't get this phone with Verizon.
Problem is, AT&T drops lots of my calls, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5% around town and as high as 20% where I live. They seem fine other wise. When i'm traveling to other areas, life is good with them. Their devices work internationally and I can talk and surf at the same time. When I'm near my home which isn't a rural area at all, drop drop drop.

Or find some way to get an unlocked one from Telstra Austrailia, they'll be rolling out the Desire next month. They run an 850Mhz 3G network and as with their 850Mhz Touch HD, their 850Mhz Desire should work on AT&T as well.

Show the love to AT&T for the Galaxy Nexus

Made a Google+ Page to try to get AT&T to officially carry the Galaxy Nexus. I have the phone myself (unlocked) but I just want to continue showing AT&T they should bring this phone to their network.
+1 the page, add the page even comment on it. I will not be posting any type of news or updates or anything in that nature so you wouldn't have to worry about that page spamming your g+ account. I might post something once in a while just to attract more people on it if I have to. But its there to show AT&T just how many customers want the Galaxy Nexus on the network.

Don't forget about Rogers Network runs the same bands as AT&T. I thought that too but heres is what I am thinking with i9250T and I could be wrong completely but I am thinking outside the box and looking at the previous Nexus S release and how things panned out:
Rogers has already announced it is releasing the phone in January 2012.
We know that the International version runs on all GSM networks. So why wouldn't Rogers launch at some time as others in Canada? Maybe because they have a 32GB exclusive only up there and only on those bands? AT&T hasn't made any official statement that they will carry the Galaxy Nexus. Though that silent release, basically, Verizon did doesn't mean AT&T wouldn't do something like that as well.
I am looking at this as it might not come to AT&T. Look how long it took for the Nexus S to come to AT&T.
Nothing is lost from what I am trying to do. Worst thing that happens is AT&T doesn't release it and all of that was for nothing. But why not try when we, the public and customers, do not know what their plans are.
:-D

Such a punch in the face for the "Nexus" title. I'm thinking that Google is trying its hardest to encourage manufacturers from putting skins on top of Android by making stock Android more favorable with all these marketing ads that are being released.

If there is no lte..... its DoA
If there is no lte in the att phone then this will be a dead on arrival. At the moment lte is not everywhere yet, but it is in my area already (Schaumburg IL- zip code 60193) and the thought of an upgrade to a new phone that I will be stuck with for at least 18 months makes no lte a huge disappointment.
Even if lte was not in my area- the massive expansion of lte would make me choose a phone with LTE for my next upgrade.
With lte using the 700mhz spectrum it is a stronger signal and better in buildings than 3G will ever be.
I oppose to your idea. I already have it on at&t btw.

With what.. three? LTE outages in the past two weeks on Verizon I don't think LTE is the killer feature you think it is. Nevermind all of the battery and signal issues people are having with several LTE phones.

LTE Verizon Version : Can this be used with other providers

Hey whats up! Surprised not more people talking about the release. Samsung is selling the Verizon LTE version. Can I buy this version now and use it with Criketwireless (they use att network) or other? Or we don't know yet? I am not sure how all that works. Thanks
all of my verizon branded devices from the last couple years will allow a non-verizon sim, but will have a big fat triangle exclaimation mark notification that never leaves the notification panel stating that a non-verizon sim card is inserted.
I do not have experience with this device, but I imagine they will do the same thing. @[email protected]
That would annoy me. Thanks if anybody can let me know thanks.

Picked up the Verizon model SM-T837V , and have it working on AT&T. (Colorado)
Not getting very good speeds, had to set the values for the AT&T apn , maybe i did that wrong. None the less it is working on AT&T shows as HSPA+ network under Sim status
Oh so works on att.. Can I ask where you got it so quickly? Verizon store has it? How much cheers

Verizon store by my house had them. apparently only has the 64gb model.. One thing i noticed it would not check for system updates unless I was on wifi.. if i was on ATT it gave some sort of authentication error when i checked for updates..was worried but then tested under wifi and it had no issue.. I do get a "not Verizon sim " warning that seems to be caused by an app called "Setup Wizard" , which i force stopped and the warning went away... (until reboot of course)
Was 729 $ , I want to replace my ipad pro on ATT with this, I just wonder what other issues I may encounter later using a Verizon tablet on ATT. I wonder would it be better just to leave it on Verizon and pay for both Verizon and Att data plans.. Verizon coverage at my house is horrible so I would rather not switch my cell phone over from att, but the tab would be on wifi at home so......

Took around town with me yesterday and tested a few times, never got over 2 or 3 Mbps on ATT , but testing with the Verizon sim I got 40Mbps ish but that was at the Verizon store it self... I dont know much about bands or even signal strength etc... currently LTE Discovery shows me on HSPA+ -83.0 dBm and my speed test was 1.97 Mbps Down 0.28 Up .
Was going to bring it into the AT&T store today and check again.

I bought the Verizon model and plugged in my T-Mobile sim card and it worked straight away.
On a side note, I went straight to the APN section expecting to have to manually enter my T-Mobile APN and was pleasantly surprised to see it was already in there along with: Consumer Cellular, Family Mobile, LYCA, MetroPCS, Multibrand, Project Fi, Red Pocket, Republic, Ting, Tracfone, Ulta, Vodafone & Walmart.
So I would guess it has all of the cellular radio frequencies onboard.

Thanks! Well... Verizon store had one here but no keyboard case... So I found I couldn't get the half off deal if one doesn't check out both units at the same time. So I went to best buy for wifi... Got a grey version. Like it so far.... Screen is great for movies, maybe wish was a bit more snappy to navigate around like i can with my s7 edge lol... But that may an illusion as the screen is bigger on s4 taking longer to reach around the screen with hands. Still less tiring than ipad for me with all the hand sweeps when busy.
Also little disappointed in multitasking.. Wish was a floating app u can sweep from the side over an active app pair so u can easily reference 3 apps fast.. Can kinda do that on ipad i think.. Ill figure it out! And many apps i use cant multitask pair which annoying not samsung fought I guess. Still worth it

What kind of speeds are you getting with it on T-Mobile? Are you getting good LTE speeds? I want to get one, but am on T-Mobile (and not switching). Sprint launched their version today, but am I not confident T-Mobile will get one. There was only one CNET article that stated T-Mobile would get it.
Thanks!

I live in a bad spot for speed testing, at my house I get around 10 Mbps up/down. I just drove up the street a mile or so and checked there and got ~30 Mbps up/down. As I roam around tomorrow I'll do some additional speed tests and see how it performs.
Update: I ran a few speed tests this morning, I was seeing download speeds up to 75 Mbps, and Uploads up to 30 Mbps on the T-Mobile sim.

I wouldn't even consider buying a verizon version when the Korean model has LTE, 6gb ram, 256gb storage, phone capability, and is world unlocked with no bloatware. I bought one and it's the best thing since sliced bread! ebay is selling them like hot cakes. Be careful to only get the non cell provider version, you don't want korean bloatware either. It exists! https://www.samsung.com/sec/tablets/galaxy-tabs4-t835/SM-T835NZKNKOO/

Hey GradyNYC!
I had initially wanted a 256GB LTE version until I saw that Verizon only had 64GB. I didn't realize they existed. Would you mind letting me know who you ordered from and how much customs duty you paid?
Thanks!

It's about a grand. They are going for $960 or so, then shipping. If you figure getting 64G LTE for About $750 in the US and the 256G WiFi version is $100 more than the 64G WiFI version, then you come to $850. The Korean versions have 6G RAM, so really, the price difference isn't out of the realm of reality. It is pricey to begin with. I'm figuring the added costs might be offset for me by the increased internal storage and memory benefits.

I tried the s4 64gb wifi version for 2 weeks and I had minor performance complaints and I had to weigh in if I was being too picky or not. I haven't had a tablet in years and kind of expected it to respond super snappy like my s7 edge. It doesn't ! Example, you don't have issues with this website even on the s4 with the menus and such? I think there is a small delay as the s4 needs time to load? sometimes? compared. I also sense s4 doesn't respond to super touch sensitivity compared to a cell phone?
I'd like a review between the 4 and 6gb model.

It does not have any dial pad. I think you're asking if it has the voice radios to use like a regular cellphone. I would guess NO as I've never seen that on a US model since the original Galaxy Tab (7inch), and that one required root and updated modem drivers to work.
For international. I've not seen it since the Tab S2. (Though the post above mentions that the Korean version does, pictures do not have earpiece speaker though)
As for bloatware, it is pretty light on bloat. Honestly, more Samsung bloat than Verizon bloat. I didn't csc, but I did promptly disable the MyVerizon app, Verizon security & privacy, samsung email & cloud, google gmail (I use google inbox).
I have never had the 4gb version, only the 6gb version. I do however have the note9 and the 6gb version tablet. They are at the very least equal in speed. I love the tablet and see no lag whatsoever. If I knew what i know now, I would have only bought the tablet. There are practical applications for the phone only; like size, but phone calls are crisp (tmobile) on the tablet. I have not taken it out of the keyboard case since day one. I have a pretty powerful windows computer with 16gb of ram and it has not been getting any use since I took this tablet out of the box. Everyone in my house is trying to get their hands on it. I bought a bluetooth mouse. It is a computer now, and a very fast one. If i hadn't turned in my note5 and tied to 2 years of credits. I would sell the note 9.
