After reading a bit about upgrading my Verizon Vogue, I decided I would really like to try NFS Fan's 6.5 rom. I began by unlocking my phone, per this article (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370) and everything seemed to go smoothly on the unlocking process. Now before I tried updating the new rom the phone booted back into the regular WM 6.0 just fine, until the screen went in to sleep mode, and it would never recover, requiring a soft reset to restart the phone every time.
Odd, but I was going to put NFSFan's 6.5 on there anyways, so I figured what the hell and kept going. The update of the ROM seemed to go just fine, once completed I hard reset the phone, and the phone would not pass the inital radio identification/verizon splash screen, requiring a hard reset to re-start the phone up to that point. I went ahead and tried a 6.1 ROM on the phone, and this time it get's to the WM Checking OS screen and locks up there (for hours on end, I forgot to turn it off) and required a hard reset to reset the phone back to this splash screen. So I start to get a little worried, and figured I'd try NFSFan's 6.5 again. Rom update went smoothly, phone reboots to the same point and after a hard reset again still only makes it to the checking OS flash screen. I tried 6.5 again a few times just to be sure, but it now appears I can't downgrade/update/side grade or make any kind of change to the phone.
The ONLY thing that bugs me is when I unlocked the phone (2.31 coke) is that the radio version seemed different then what everyone else had. The radio version is 1.60.30, which from all I could read meant the phone was not GPS capable, and that the unlocker I used was for GPS capable phones, like I should have used .40 coke instead. Could this have caused my problem? Below are a few pictures of the screens I can get to. Anyone know of a stock 6.0 rom for verizon I might be able to try to get back to?

Download and flash to update the radio to the latest Verizon ROM - you can find it via a search (Id point it out but in Atlanta GA training and on my phone)
flash to it
flash to the Verizon NFSFAN ROM
should be OK then

Here is the link:

Good luck!!
There is a guide here under FAQ, but any more problems don't be afraid to post here again and we'll sort it out.

Thanks guys, I'll try flashing to the download link provided and then back to NFSFan's ROM. Should know in a bit if it works.
be sure not to let the customizations run on the stock verizon rom..
if they run you will have a tough time getting gps to work
by this I mean to soft reset [pushing in the hole on the bottom with the stylus] on first boot after it asks you to set up a password

Too late, after the update finished I let it do it's thing after a hard reset and it was done before I even got around to looking at it.
That 6.1 rom does work, so if I have time tomorrow I'll give 6.5 a shot.
Thanks again!

I bought a MDA2 off ebay and it said in the ad it had WM2005 on it, i figured it was a typo so i went ahead and bought it. ANyway i got the MDA and it has WM2005! The main reason i bought it was to run tomtom navigator 5, now i managed to install it but the backlight refuses to work. I just want to know where i can download the original rom from as i dont want WM2005 because its not designed for the phone....
Tried to be clever and i downloaded a rom from the o2 website and tried to reflash the phone with that rom, it came up with some error message and it totally crapped out my mda. My mda is now on a dark screen that says serial v1.02 and when i put it in the cradle it changes to USB v1.02. Tried running different roms but its not accepting any. Activesync is not picking the device up anymore...
can anyone help?
OK so you want an official rom?
1) What is the HTC anme for an MDA2?
2) What carrier are you currently on?
i dont mind what rom it is...as long as it works. Carrier? I am on the o2 network if that helps. HTC anme? I have no idea what that means. If you could tell me how i can get this info for you i will
oh crap, spelling mistake on my end, i meant HTC name
also i forgot, what country are you using the phone in?
Well its a T-Mobile MDA (what it says on the device itself but i beleive its the same as an XDA2). I am in England and i am on the o2 network.
looks exactly like this

Do you mind having a non-official rom?
I dont mind at all, anything that makes it work.
ok, try hard resetting your phone, it should boot back into WM5, you will then need to download a wm2003 rom (check the WIKI for options and choose one) and install that (again the wiki should hold all the information you need)
( i didnt tell you this in the first place because i was looking to find an official o2 uk rom, however you need to give them your imei, and o2 phone number to do that, somthing i dont have )

Ok firstly, hard reset (holding power whilst placing stylus in reset hole) is the first thing i tried, its not having non of it. Just shows USB v1.02. I was able to download the rom from the o2 website by giving my IMEI of this tmobile phone (how? i dont know). There was an error durin the installation which caused my mda to crap out. Its not going past that screen at all.
during the install? as in while it was actually copying the rom?
yup m8, as it was getting transferred over
k, this hapened to me earlier todday as it happens (i was testing ivans new rom)
the reason it was caused is that the operator ID is set wrong, to fix this follow these instructions:
go to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp" and delete everything there.
run the origional o2 upgrade DONT PRESS NEXT OR ANYTHING, JUST START IT.
go back to "c:\documents and settings\your_username\local settings\temp"
there should be a new folder created, copy this to a tempory location.
extract the contents of this attached zip file into that copied directory.
double click on setoperator.bat
run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe in that folder to put your phone back to the wm2003 os.
if this doesn't work then i'm stumped, sorry
when i run the o2 upgrade it just shows a plf183.tmp file, no folders... ill try afew more things
ok this is what i am getting...
http://www.killerinstinct.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/xdaerror.jpg
ok maybe the password was wrong for the file
does anyone know what version of himaupgradeut the latest o2 uk update uses? then i can get the right password
i dont mind using any ROM as long as its WM2003
try the same method as above, but with these files:
Hello to everyone in xda-developers. Thank you guys for existing!
I have a problem uprading my HTC TyTN to official ROM version HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108.exe. Im a complete noob and have never flashed my pda before. My eyes burned from reading the forums for 4 days now. Basicaly what my problem is:
I've downloaded the RUU and I run it on my Pc (XP, Active Synk 4.5), connect the pda and when the device goes in to bootloader the active sync looses connection, so the RUU doesnt show my current rom version. The active synk is disconnected all the time. I press update, the progress bar shows on Pc and Pda, it goes to 1%, it stops giving me invalid vender id error and restarts PDA. I tried a different approach - i run the RUU, and on the page where is says "make sure that the active sync is connected" I connect the Pda. Active sync is connected then and I go to the update page and now it shows my rom version. I click update and the screen of the Pda goes dark, and in a while I get the connection error. I'm I doing something wrong?
I red almost everything several times, and I cant do it. I feel like a dumbass Can someone tell me if it's possible that my device is CidLocked, because the OS is in English, and when I go to the HTC e-club cite, it allows me only to download German version ROM? Do I have to try to CID unlock using AUTO_Unlock_v3a.bat and install HARDSPL7 before installing that ROM? Will I be able to install official ROM's if I do?
Thanks to all the addicts that will help. I promisse to learn fast!
HTC support
I also wrote to HTC online support - they haven't replied for several days now. Some support...
Hello, correct you do need to learn a bit more before proceding down this avenue im afraid From what ive read definatly DO NOT attempt to CID unlock the device....there is no need anyway.
First give us the following information:
What brand of Hermes do you have? Orange, Tmobile etc...
What language is the device in??
Where are you running the device??
What do you want to do??
You ARE a noobie....but thats not a bad thing....we all were at one stage so the best thing you can do is to give us that information and I will attempt to point you in the right direction.
Hello MrVanx
Hi MrVanx,
my admirations, I know I'm talking to a guru here, I red many of your guides. I can not say I understood much, but got a basic picture of things.
I will not attempt to CID Unlock the device as you suggested.
I think the PDA is genuine HTC TyTN. On the front side its only written HTC, behind the battery HERM200. I will upload an image, so you can see for yourself. The device is in English, but when I log in to HTC e-club, the only available rom for me is German. Maybe the PDA is imported in Bulgaria from Germany.
I'm using the Pda in Bulgaria (East Europe), the carrier is Globul.
What I want to do with the device is to upgrade it to a newer version of windows. I would like also to try some of the cooked roms but I don't feel quite so confident in my flashing skills - I actualy think I don't have any skills yet I really like the black today screen of LVSW WM6, can this be better for me than the official HTC WM6 ROM? Will I be able to upgrade to HTC WM6 official ROM and if I don't like it to go to LVSW?
Thanks for helping MrVanx. I couldn't think of a more appropriate person.

I believe it does. You'll just need to use the 3G Dialer from abusalza (PDACorner Coder)

Spporting 3G doesn't necessarily mean it supports Video Call...
Cheers.
I have been using this since yesterday and it is really fast and very stable so far. I have loaded all my programs and no hard or soft resets.
What is the "EXTROM Version" shown in the screenshots? Never noticed that on a "Device Information" screen before.
How much about Storage and Program Memory?
I ran PhamQuangs Rom for a couple of days when It was first released on pdaviet forum the 21st. Very fast and stable ROM. More responsive than most ROMs. When you don't get a signal after you first flash the ROM, it is because You have to set your GSM band to "auto" manually.
The only problem I ran into, it was totally my fault, was that I let my battery go below 40% and it became un- responsive.. You also have that Blue OEM coloring bleed thru.
flash again....
Have always liked the speed and responsiveness of PDAVIET roms, and I hope this one is even more then before..... will post when I have tested....
I had hopes to keep my current rom (MRH 8.1) for some time, and I said to myself only yesterday that it is no use to flash a new rom...
Well here I am, waiting for my Hermes to have charged above 50%.....
I think I am addicted, but I like it

I am confused. Is it "very unstable" or "never get hardreset"?
They are talking about the Blue OEM overlay. This rom is very stable. non UC..Normal Storage Rom
For some reason when I try to flash it closes my activesync connection and puts my phone in sleep mode shortly after the progress bar shows up in the pc app. I have never had this happen before with other ROMS. Any ideas?
All precautions such as battery and spl were taken. This is about the 6th time I have flashed my ROM but the first time this has happened. I restarted my pc and did a HardReset on my hermes.
*** UPDATE: I used the ROM Update Utility from a different ROM and it worked like a charm.
Mine did the same thing. I started out with my 8525 in bootloader mode and it worked fine.
I had the same business happen with my attempt to flash. I got around it by forcing bootloader mode (pwr, ok, reset)
I just got a used E980. idk what he's done to it. but appeared vanella. I tried rooting, from the proper thread with the right files. suposedly right for the e980. so I tried to just reboot recovery, but all i get is an android with a red triangle and an ! inside it of.

If it's a custom Rom it's already rooted (obviously). Check the build version in your settings.

yeah i can't get into TWRP, or the other one. it keeps giving me dude with red !. version is jz054k.
I did a full wipe and install of an origonal build of the software, was able to root it sucesfully now. but still can't get into the bootloader menu. tried cammand line to tell it to boot into it, tried rom manager. no dice. just keep getting little dude. i remember seeing a thread about him, i don't know what he means :\
The bootloader on these phones are locked. You are able to install the custom recovery only because Freegee can bypass the bootloader.

yeah i got around it and managed to do it. didnt much like the rom, know any clean roms that are more stock like? i really didnt mind stock. but i want 4.4 or better than stock.
Honestly, your best option is to wait for the kitkat update to hit in a month or so. You get what you're looking for in one stock update. Hassle free. That's what I'm doing. The more I learn about this phone, the more I am hesitant to flash anything to it. Mostly because there are so many variants for this phone. Everything can't be compatible so why risk it.

Read the whole thing then you'll be ready to go
Its the kitkat Korean update, I'm using it on my e980 , pretty sweet
yeah i agree, i havn't found many rom's i like. ive found roms always fail after awhile. so idk. they always bloat up and start to fail than they need the update to be stable blah blah than your reinstalling all apps and backing **** up. idk, was just looking at what phones offer these days for modding but nothing seems to of changed. this phone inparticular is a rather unstable device none stock, seems to be allota issues and a good reason to have bootloader locked.
Un locking the bootloader only allows for custom kernels on any given device. In some cases you will get greater stability. But for the most part you will still have glitches, performance decreases, etc. because you are STILL flashing custom Roms. And in allot of cases your phone will go completely nuts because custom kernels have their glitches too. So in short, sometimes, Custom Rom=glitches. custom kernel=glitches. That all adds up to a totally unstable Rom. Keep in mind all devices are not the same. What runs great on his might crash your phone completely. Just my 2 cents....lol
As the title says, I installed the ASUS Official Unlock tool (and didn't really read it, as you should) and it attempted a boot unlock without SU. The funny thing is, it did exactly what it said it would do and rebooted into the Bootloader. The Bootloader said (and still does) it was a success and that the phone will reboot in 5 seconds. Which is fine, except it's doing that every single time I enter the Bootloader. I can't get it to stop doing that so I can actually do the root and re-do the unlock. The phone still functions perfectly fine otherwise.. any advice? (Yes, I can get it into recovery mode) Hopefully that didn't ban me from OTA.
EDIT: It also turned my boot screen white, and I also tried to use the sideloader, but I already have the latest ASUS firmware so that didn't help. However, in my loader I noticed some weird stuff showing about a MOD_SDUPDATE.ZIP not being found.. I don't know what's that about. It was doing that before I tried to use the sideloader.

dunno what exactly happened, but you can do " Using Stock.zip from ASUS site:" from here, that should fix basically everything: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-to-apply-ota-bootloop-rooted-zf2-t3127835
P.S.: your data won't be lost, however your app ache will be cleared, meaning you'll be logged out everywhere. So if you have some game and no account, that game state will be lost.
So I tried that, first with the ROM that's installed on the phone the .97 version. Then with the original version. It appears to actually install the .97 version, but that does absolutely nothing for the phone and if I try an older version it just tells me it can't flash an older version. Should flashing the same version over-top have taken care of the problem? Doesn't look like it did anything. The boot loader is probably unlocked, but I can't keep it in ADB mode long enough to do anything useful and you can't sideload a recovery to my knowledge.
EDIT: I named the file wrong in my tiredness. I did it again and loaded in recovery...
EDIT2: That did not work.
You're in a lot of company... There's a couple of threads about this with ASUS reps also saying the same thing....

I don't actually know what you mean by that? With the ASUS unlocking tool causing it to reboot in the bootloader improperly or the booting of the file from Recovery?
The phone isn't actually "broken" but now... I can't do anything to it without the use of ADB.. Which blows.
EDIT: Also, can you point me to these threads?
