Now that there are a few ROMS out their with WinMo 6.5 which has widget engine it might be worth having a thread dedicated to enhancing this widget experience.
There is very limited information on either this forum, or any other for that matter, on how to install and use widgets in wm6.5. I for one would be very keen to be able to install more widgets than just MSN Money, MSN Weather, Search Widget.
So really the purpose of this post is two-fold:
1. How do we install/use WinMo 6.5 for new widgets?
2. A place to post ideas/links to our favourite widgets to spread the experience.
Kind Regards,

( like the original MSN Money / MSN Weather / MSN Search )
Apologies you are correct Biomehanika. I agree with you, but still think that the hacking and dev forum is the best place to look.
Cheers

Thanks for the responses! So it would seem that we're just going to have to have to have some patience and wait for this function to be developed.
Shame as I think this functionality would give us so many useful little apps.
Any ideas if we could use desktop widgets?

Huh ? What are you talking about ?
Hey, a little bit offtopic... Do you have any documentation on "Celecommand" ? I"d like to make a couple of apps to give users some choices, regarding the weather app I wrote....
Hey Ricky,
I need some help from you, if you don't mind. I know this is off-topic too but can you please get me the MyFaves icon (not the icons) just the main icon, the circles without the man, please - I'm having a hard time getting it. Thanks
Great Job so far - You, OrganicM and others are doing an amazing job
no sorry
OKay, at least a little walktrough on how to make a multiple choice celecommand script, like the ones you have in your ROM ?
go here it may help you

what about outlook in messaging i dont see it as an options
so you don't have it?
ahh, i really want that icon
I started a thread asking for the same...My best advice, Organic, is look at the craptastic help online, and then look really closely at Ricky's existing .ccs files. Alas, I'm still trying to figure out a lot of it myself.
Hello, I'm a SEX1 user using Jack's full ROM.
I'm just curious, is there a blogging software for the SEX1 that acts something like Windows Live Writer? This kind of software saves a lot of trouble and also reduce your expenses on 3G services as you do not need to go to so many pages to get your blog posted up.
Thank you all so much in advance for your help.
Yes! That's a good idea, I am also looking for something like that.
ANYONE could HELP?
I was searching for a simple Blogger client to be able to add a post with a picture and some text (like on other SE phones) but there seems to be no program for this.

I have not used this myself, but you could try Xperia CellSpin 1.4.0.
Download http://xperia.handster.com/product.php?id=2976
It's kinda of my dream to find Windows MOBILE Live Writer someday.
Please don't flame me as I did a search in the Development thread and also here but couldn't find an answer. All I want to know is are there other widgets available to us other than MSN Money and MSN Weather that were part of NFSFAN's 6.5 ROM?
I use MSN Money quite a bit although haven't figured out how to add Dow Jones Industrial index to the list. $INDU doesn't work.
This what you are looking for?

A very big thanks to you. I don't get this though. When I did a search for the term widget, this link didn't pop up in the results. Do you have any recommendations from the list of 50?

I have the same problem. It used to appear in the older version when you do a search for 'dow', but the new version only finds dow chemical co. Looks like it's either bug or ms might be purposefully blocking this index?? In fact, the older version of the widget used to have $indu in the default start list.

Thanks for the response, but I already know how to add stocks, only Dow Jones Industrial index symbol ($INDU) is not working. It seems to be some kind of a bug as the previous poster mentioned.

After downloading the widgets, I'm noticing that all these are links to websites. They are not like MSN Weather or MSN Money.
Had the same problem not being able to add the Dow index via the search functionality.
Just need to add it manually using your favourite registry editor:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Widgets\Settings\2\msnstocklist=
...,$US:INDU,...
Order of placement in an existing list will be reflected in the list displayed
i.e. $GB:FTSE,$US:INDU,$US:COMPX
will list
FTSE 100
Dow
NASDAQ
Hope this helps

Steve,
thanks a bunch for the above suggestion. It worked for me just like you described. This is why this website is my Home Page
Hey guys i just got my tp2 today after being a blackberry user on verizon for the past few years. I got the chance to trade my storm 2 for the TP2 and took it as i love trying new phones out. However, i do have a few questions as this thing is pretty complex in comparison to my Storm2.
1. I know you can download themes and what not here on the TP2 much like you can on a blackberry and i saw one earlier today i would love to give a shot as it looks like everything i am looking for. HOWEVER, how do i go about doing something like that on this phone? Can i do it OTA like i did on the storm? Most of the issues lie in the fact that I am a mac user and do not have access to a Windows computer.
2. Are there any known problems you guys are having with the phones that i should keep an eye out for?
Any help or insight would be much appreciated and i look forward to sticking around for a while. I have wanted to try an HTC phone out for a while!!
Thanks in advance
For one, although it is no big deal in this post since this post is very general, we are a CDMA device and our main forums are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=517
1) Oh wow, you asked just about the second most complex question. WM has about one bajillion themes that you can use, each theme with their own unique features. Manila (Sense/TF3D/Manila), SPB Mobile Shell, Infinity by Ageye, iPhoneToday, the list goes on and on! What you like will be personal preference...my best suggestion would be give it a try and see if you like it. Here is a useful post with HUNDREDS of apps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
2) You should install SSK Dynamic proxy and NoPushInternet to help improve performance. At0mAngD3D driver might be of use as well.
Best of luck with your new phone!
Thanks for the quick reply. My older brother told me to check out the SPB Mobile Shell i believe it was as he said there is sliding pages and what not much like the MyTouch or other HTC phones so i will def check those out. Can i download them OTA? That is going to be the biggest thing for me. I need to learn A LOT about this phone.
PS: It's nice to see another snowboarder in here. I manage a snowboard shop myself

Microsoft Marketplace will have the *majority* of apps you can find online available to download OTA. I do not believe it will automatically update the apps though (there are some 3rd party softwares that do).
SPB Mobile Shell is one of the most customizable UI's that we have. There are a ton of great widgets and themes for mobile shell as well, so there is no limit to what you can do (my favorite theme for SPB MS is the Mobile Sense Espresso)
BTW, very cool about the shop!! Where are you guys located?
We are located in Rochester, NY "The Ski Company" is the name of the store. Where can i get the Microsoft Marketplace?
Also, how do i go about downloading a new theme? I'm so lost with this phone
Edit: I really really like the look of that theme, as well. How do i get it? lol
Edit2: If i get a new theme (say i get that theme linked above) will i still get the weather that moves across my page and everything every so often? That is a feature i really enjoy with this phone.

Microsoft Market should be located in your start menu somewhere.
I find that there are more free apps online so I tend not to use marketplace that much. I download the .cab, copy it to my SD card and then use a file explorer to browse to/install the file. Google is usually good for me, I just search along the following lines "site:forum.xda-developers.com My Search terms". here is my example:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source...=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=908f344da1ea5ce4
That specific theme, SPB MS, is actually download-able from the marketplace, a demo version as well. Disable Sense UI (Start > settings > today .. browse to the item tab and uncheck HTC sense) and install SPB MS. After SPB MS is installed download the espresso theme and install that as well. With SPB MS you do not get the animated weather unfortunately, thats one of the benefits of the Manila UI.
Here I'm gonna give you someof the best apps and Widgets. Of course some are paid apps. 1- try weather toggle widget 2- try better keyboard 3- try widget locker this is it for now I have more but try this ones first. Ill put more later on. Let me know what you guys think. Hope you like them.
HTC DESIRE #1
Please don't!
Any such list is going to purely subjective, and there is enough clutter in these forums now. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it seems to me that the "value" of posts in the Desire forums is diminishing daily.
If you want to post such a link, download and install AppBrain and post your details in this thread.

Dave
