Hey, which rom is the best for the Hermes currently? I tried that other one with the TouchFlo, didnt like it its too slow.
Which rom is fast and reliable?
Thanks for the help
Try my rom, see signature, maybe it is something for you
Check the Benchmarks Post
There is a post with benchmarks of the various ROMS, in the hermes mobile 6 forums.... open and check them all out.... Schaps has some of the best. VP3g also has some great stable clean ones for ATT users.
Yes, I recommend Schap's ROMs as well. I've been using 4.01 since I got my 8525 and its been great. He does a lot of awesome work.

I'm using the one mentioned above by Pay and it is very good.
Ive tried Schapps 4.0(i think it was beta when i tried), 4.01 and im currently trying 4.20 out. I like the touchflo, but as others have mentioned, 4.20 is slower even with it overclocked at 500. My vote would be Schapps 4.01. Its fast and stable.
Tried Schaps, TNT and others, but i love Pays Rom! It is the best for me so far Very stable and one of the fastes imho!

What are you using to overclock PHM? Are you sures that it is running faster at 500 (Coreplayer benchmark)
and back on topic. Do a search in just titles in this thread and ues the word "best rom" and you see a lot of other opinions.
I have tried a lot of roms and have found the all round best one is from TNT =D
I didnt like schaps 4.xx... I think the best rom is Schaps 3.60a lite edition.. I tested a lot of roms...

sdk certs usually does the trick.
Is there any rom that makes the phone more of a dumb phone. Something that where after a call it goes back to the today page instead of having to close everything. Or if I select a contact to call them, it closes that page instead of leaving it open and going to the phone.
Also, has anyone found better battery life in certain roms?
Edit: After doing some research, it seems that I'm looking for Windows Mobile 6.1
Hi guys,
used XDA II / Himalaya until now and walked through time always with the newest ROMs ;-)
Got a Hermes now. I'm currently digging through all the different threads with all the different ROMs available.
Can somebody give me a recommendation for a ROM and a short description what the differences are? Should I take an official ROM or cooked, one of the latest or a well tested/stable one?
I know all the Info is probably in the forum, but it is very time consuming digging through all the threads and apparently there is only an overview of the official ROMs....
Thanks, Hannes.
Schaps 4.31.
New PDAVIET(PV DVH): 5.2.20226 - Build 20226.1.3.0
Cooked ROMS are usually better because they start off with the official and then work the bugs out and add a few extras. To find one that works for you, look at the base model, then you can add cabs of tweaks/programs that fit you. The core is what is the most important to look at.
The MaRaHox ROM V7 is also very good. Have pretty much everything I need striaght out of the ROM and I can delete most of the stuff I don't need.

But with the pagepool changer, you can make any ROM seem to run faster. It helps to look at the core ROM and see what programs are cooked in, then change the pagepool to what you want because you sacrafice speed for storage.
just remember you can't follow what each of us is saying, what works for one may not work for another. just be very very careful, and try things out.

I know, but still the experience and opinions of you guys are much appreciated.....
Best thing to do is to read the threads associated with each ROM. That will easily tell you what is a "good" rom versus one that is "not so good". You determine for yourself what these terms mean.
Also use the search facility to give you even more information. Your question has been asked at least a thousand times now so a simple search would have set you off in the right direction.

It really doesnt matter! None of us use the phone the same way as the others do. So your issues with the ROM might be completely different than others. Only way to find out is to read and keep flashing!

Thats a matter of opinion, but for me, the two that are the fastest are:
CRC v12.9 (use it myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392996
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364216
Try using a 8meg PP for faster speed, and using the tweaks in sSchaps Advanced config (cache settings).
Also, using HTC Home always seems to slow my roms down, I just use Samsung time.
In my opinion, Schaps 4.40 beta is the fastest!
I just tried them both but the one i had was alittle bit faster
try schaps its the most complete rom so far.
PDACornerPro is very fast and stable. The Chef is also very helpful.
This is a little bit offtopic but... is Schap still developing for the Hermes?
I've been away for a while, still getting info out of the forum (loads to read )
Thanks
which ones have u tried? what apps did u install? which apps do u load & run simaltaneously? what tweeks have u performed?
For me all the recent chefs lite wm6.1 6mb pp are very fast!

Thats a WM6 rom, in the most part they are a bit faster, but have less features, its also a very old rom.
With CRC v12.9 you will need to do the cache size tweeks (for the naked ones anyway) they make it a lot faster.
Anyway, just flash all the roms you can, that's what i did, then stoped on the one that worked for me.
Flashaholic, and a good few days without a flash, i can feel the withdraw pains
i am happy
with my signature, can you define a 'slow rom' until you can define what's 'slow' and what's 'fast' none of us can really help.
Edit also, after trying two roms? and you're sick already? geez, I flashed 30 different roms before I decided where to go. you need to do the same, unfortunately.

dude i tried like 20 different roms that makes me sick but anyz
i have a game ( air hockey ) and with that i test the roms, u might think its stupid. but it really works, i can really see the difference of speeds between roms.

like i said schaps was the best one. if u want to try the air hockey its amazing, just try it.
and the thing that pisses me off is my friend has a pocket pc ( i dont remember the brand but it wasnt as famous as htc)
his CPU: dont remember the name
Speed: 100 Mhz
Ram : same as mine
but the speed of my cpu is 400 MHz and still his air hockey works better (faster)

check Dr.Puttingham fav ROM. it's got a good speed especially for gamers
for me its V19 Diamond Lite
just my 2c. i prefer to optimalized all windows funcionallity more than get a more speed, or adding some apps (coz available on cab). that's a reason why my rom very quickly on updated
and now i just fixed contact show on bottom, yahoo! go crashed, working encryption (thanks God for all). i have tried make a rom and i can't believe for speed, like a flashlight. but a minor is phone error, message error, etc
find your rom and hack the registry to get more speed!!!

IMHO, since the question is which ROM and no mention if its WM6 or WM6.1.....for fastest and stable ROM, I would go for Schaps WM6 rom. During that time when I was using his rom, almost all cooked WM6.1 are not yet stable so I didnt jump in the WM6.1 bandwagon.
Only lately did I try to WM6.1 because its been long now since Im using Schaps and I want something new and I want to go with the flow, which is WM6.1 roms Right now, my only choices are PDACorner and CRC's and I think almost everyone agrees with me with those two roms
however, I still miss the stability of Schaps rom
I don't know if this is the right place to post this so moderators, feel free to move this to where exactly it belongs.
I'm quite new to cooked ROMs and flashing them etc, you get it so I don't that much of knowledge about it.
I'm wondering which one of all of these cooked ROMs is the fastest and most stable?
Also, which pagepool to you recommend; 0mb, 6mb,8mb,12mb or 16mb?
Thanks in advance!

It is different for each and every person. What is good for me, may be bad for you - we all use our device differently. The only REAL answer to this, is try them all yourself, and stick with the one YOU like best.
Take your time to read the stickies about upgrading & Hard-SPL, look at a few threads, read peoples opinions on certain ROMs.
Really, no-one can tell YOU what is the best rom for YOU
This is the answer you will get from anyone that actually has any experience in flashing roms
BUT, if you must have some guidance, some benchmarks have been done here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406640 - but personally, I dont like the rom that appears to be the fastest on that persons device!
didn't saw that reply
thank you for that, for the moment I'm using Dutty 3.6 Final with 12pp. Recently I had SwiftBL with 16pp and I use my phone for different things, at the same time so would it be better to have a larger pp?

In theory, a larger pagepool would be slightly better. I however, have been using Dutty 3.6 final for some time now, as it is as default, and have not seen any reason to use a bigger pagepool. I did try 16mb, but it *appeared* to be less stable for me...I'm sticking with this...or I might go to Dutty v4 after it has been around a while - I think that has a bigger pagepool by default

I've been around this forum for a while and have come across the pagepool changer. Since the ROM we both using is very stable as it is, would you considering to change the pagepool into 16mb for Dutty 3.6 instead of upgrading to v4?

I wouldn't, myself, I have already tried that and didn't like it. Also, make sure you use the latest changer that is compatible with the newer ROMs if you do.. The only reason I would upgrade to v4 is for the slide to answer, and because I am addicted to flashing! I must have tried most roms available up until the beginning of December
I would have to say, if what you are running now, even with 12mb pagepool, is not giving you any particular errors or problems, then there is probably no reason to change anything at all..

Can anyone recommend a ROM similar to the "EnergyROM Series 3.0 21215 - Manila Edition" for the Rapheal?
My friend has this ROM and its amazing but i don’t think its compatible with my Diamond.
Suggestions please!
Thanks
My only suggestion is to ask NRGZ28 to cook up a Rom for the Diamond. He had thought about it at one time I am running his right now on my Raphael and it is very Fast and stable.
I would like to have this also..
I've tested this at work some day, previous version of Energy ROM, already with TF3D2 included which was pretty sweet running and probably the 3rd version is even better.
Who contacts him?
I too have had my eye on this rom in the raphael section and think it would make a gr8 diamond rom

Hi there Sam_C.
I don' know the Energy ROM you mentioned but from what I read from the thread I think you would like to try ShaksP 4.20 ROM. It has many of the Goodies in the Topaz ROM (new keyboards and menus, etc.), is very fast and ROCK SOLID.
I tried MANY, MANY ROMs for the Diamond and this one I recommend without reserve.

Shaks ROM is stable but if you try energy rom on rapcheal then only you know what is fast. Anyway cause to our limited RAM Shaks already put our Diamond to it's limit. Thanks Shaks
Well I guess it's a good thing I saw this thread eh ? I will try making a ROM for the diamond today, but I need someone to beta test to see if it boots properly, since I don't have a Diamond (!). If anybody's interested please send me a PM. I only need a couple people that have time on their hands to download, flash, test.... maybe a few times until we get it right Thanks
Testing Energy for the Diamond
I am happy to test your rom. I had the fuze and then went to the diamond i was not a fan of the keyboard. Your roms kick ass! All of the present ones for the diamond are great but they use too many resources or the light ones come with jack. So I will be happy to test. Send me a message and i will take care of this happily.
Shokouhi
If it is WM6.5, I will be the first to test it- well hopefully. Lol, it's hard to get off 6.5 once you're on it.
Thanks NRGZ.

I'll join in for beta testing. I've tryed many different 6.5 ROMs so far and can't say I'm happy with any one, performance wise.
Well here's a preliminary "test version" of the ROM. I'm not sure if it'll even boot, since I don't have a device to test on. However, the worst that can happen is it won't boot and then you have to flash back whatever other ROM you want. Please download, test... and get back to me somehow. PM would be best Oh... and if you don't know what do with the file, you probably shouldn't be testing this

Hi.
Can you please archive your ROM in RAR ?
Coz I can't download at my workplace, just to open.
THX.
Count me in 2 lol
I am downloading and i will let you know asap!!!
Quick update: this is safe to flash - it boots fine. Had it on for 2 minutes, I can't say much more at the moment.
i will test it also thanks
I've been testing this rom for the last half hour and have to say, quite impressive for a test rom.
A few problems though. There seems to be a lot less storage memory available and a lot less ram than any other rom.
I'm also really missing a task manager, and there's a few touch pro apps we dont need. There also only seems to be one keyboard to choose from.
On the plus side, activesync, wifi, notifications, camera and all the apps work flawlessly.I've added titanium weather without a hitch.
So thanks for all your hard work and hope you continue to work on this rom.
First let me do a disclamer: if i don't mention it - it either works or i didn't test it yet. I'd like to concentrate on things that don't work. I was too impatient to do customary hard reset after initial flash so ....
Impressions: it's true, if you never tryed NRGZ28's ROM you don't know what "fast" means. This ROM is blazing!!!
- during initial setup and just after screen alingment, iwas expecting to set time zone and time - never showed up
- World card mobile does not work; it would not even start
- Some shortcuts placments was "questionable": Advanced Network Settings appear under System control applet; others were likely just me not being familliar with NRGZ28's ROMS
- Personal preferance: I prefer MSVC over CVSD
- Only default WM keyboard works; would like to see TD2 or D2 SIP here
More after hard reset...
