Thats a matter of opinion, but for me, the two that are the fastest are:
CRC v12.9 (use it myself)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392996
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364216
Try using a 8meg PP for faster speed, and using the tweaks in sSchaps Advanced config (cache settings).
Also, using HTC Home always seems to slow my roms down, I just use Samsung time.

In my opinion, Schaps 4.40 beta is the fastest!

I just tried them both but the one i had was alittle bit faster
try schaps its the most complete rom so far.

PDACornerPro is very fast and stable. The Chef is also very helpful.

This is a little bit offtopic but... is Schap still developing for the Hermes?
I've been away for a while, still getting info out of the forum (loads to read )
Thanks

which ones have u tried? what apps did u install? which apps do u load & run simaltaneously? what tweeks have u performed?
For me all the recent chefs lite wm6.1 6mb pp are very fast!

Thats a WM6 rom, in the most part they are a bit faster, but have less features, its also a very old rom.
With CRC v12.9 you will need to do the cache size tweeks (for the naked ones anyway) they make it a lot faster.
Anyway, just flash all the roms you can, that's what i did, then stoped on the one that worked for me.
Flashaholic, and a good few days without a flash, i can feel the withdraw pains

i am happy
with my signature, can you define a 'slow rom' until you can define what's 'slow' and what's 'fast' none of us can really help.
Edit also, after trying two roms? and you're sick already? geez, I flashed 30 different roms before I decided where to go. you need to do the same, unfortunately.

dude i tried like 20 different roms that makes me sick but anyz
i have a game ( air hockey ) and with that i test the roms, u might think its stupid. but it really works, i can really see the difference of speeds between roms.

lmao that was just a number.
like i said schaps was the best one. if u want to try the air hockey its amazing, just try it.
and the thing that pisses me off is my friend has a pocket pc ( i dont remember the brand but it wasnt as famous as htc)
his CPU: dont remember the name
Speed: 100 Mhz
Ram : same as mine
but the speed of my cpu is 400 MHz and still his air hockey works better (faster)

check Dr.Puttingham fav ROM. it's got a good speed especially for gamers

for me its V19 Diamond Lite

just my 2c. i prefer to optimalized all windows funcionallity more than get a more speed, or adding some apps (coz available on cab). that's a reason why my rom very quickly on updated
and now i just fixed contact show on bottom, yahoo! go crashed, working encryption (thanks God for all). i have tried make a rom and i can't believe for speed, like a flashlight. but a minor is phone error, message error, etc
find your rom and hack the registry to get more speed!!!
thanks and regards...

IMHO, since the question is which ROM and no mention if its WM6 or WM6.1.....for fastest and stable ROM, I would go for Schaps WM6 rom. During that time when I was using his rom, almost all cooked WM6.1 are not yet stable so I didnt jump in the WM6.1 bandwagon.
Only lately did I try to WM6.1 because its been long now since Im using Schaps and I want something new and I want to go with the flow, which is WM6.1 roms Right now, my only choices are PDACorner and CRC's and I think almost everyone agrees with me with those two roms
however, I still miss the stability of Schaps rom

good ROM ???

can some one please recomend a good stable rom
shap's is gone and its the only roms i ever used
and also can i back up all my setting and move them to the next rom ??
Thanks MS3
Well there are a lot of of good stable roms depending on your preferences...
I went from Schaps to TNT V2.0, and it is very fast and stable for me. You can read it's thread for posted details.
i was going to try TNT but i was wating for shap's to come back
but from wat i say today i dont think he is
so is there a way to back up my settings and move them to TNT
Isn't there a PIM backup that can do backup?
As for the ROM, I have recently tried the Dutty Supa Dupa ButtonFLO ROM and it is working good for me so far. It is ButtonFLO though (not TouchFLO) but I can happy with that.

Thanks for trying it and am glad you like it. It's our choice which one we wanted. Mazdaspeed like a ROM that's faster and more beautiful than mine. Well, he could try others. There's a lot in here. Try them all and make a choice. Just like I did, before I made my decision to make one of my own but with various users in mind. He can leave mine behind because he already tried mine.
Good rom, backup
Hi mazdaspeed,
If you want something to load and forget, I think one of my roms would fit the bill. Nothing fancy, but lots of space to do what you want with it, and fast and stable. Read the threads and see if they sound right for you.
As far as backing up settings, etc, it doesn't really work. If you're changing roms, the registries will be different, to match the underlying programs. Backup utilities restore the registry, where your settings are kept, but in restoring the registry they erase what should be there so the new rom functions properly. There are utilities to speed up the re-loading of programs, etc, and they are helpful if you are a chronic rom-flasher, but they take time to set up, and don't do much for your settings anyway. What will save you lots of time is a PIM backup utility, if you don't use activesync.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
I'll vouch for edhass's ROMs. Had the lite version installed for a week or two, got bored and flashed another ROM. After a day of testing I re-flashed edhaas's. Super clean, super fast, super stable. Last ROM I'll use till I find the time to cook my own.

x2 to the max
Put another vote for Edhaas. The SuperD-Lite has TONS of storage and is really the fastest ive used (see what ive had in my sig).
I cant say much about stability tho, since i havent had a problem with any of them. Might have something to do with only having some of them for a week, at most. Enough time to gauge speed, but prob not stability.
This one ive had for a few weeks/month tho.
Oh and also, with the lite ones you can load what you want and forget about what you dont use. Helps with speed, and you said u dont use a lot of the stuff.
My vote on edhaas rom too... super clean, fast and stable!
sweet well i had TNT over nite now im flashing urs

T-Lite = based on T-Mobile ROM, D-Lite = based on Dopod ROM. Haven't tried the T-lite, but from what I understand it's very similar to Dopod but takes up more space.

Looking for Solid and Fast Rom - Which one ?

Hey, which rom is the best for the Hermes currently? I tried that other one with the TouchFlo, didnt like it its too slow.
Which rom is fast and reliable?
Thanks for the help
Try my rom, see signature, maybe it is something for you
Check the Benchmarks Post
There is a post with benchmarks of the various ROMS, in the hermes mobile 6 forums.... open and check them all out.... Schaps has some of the best. VP3g also has some great stable clean ones for ATT users.
Yes, I recommend Schap's ROMs as well. I've been using 4.01 since I got my 8525 and its been great. He does a lot of awesome work.

I'm using the one mentioned above by Pay and it is very good.
Ive tried Schapps 4.0(i think it was beta when i tried), 4.01 and im currently trying 4.20 out. I like the touchflo, but as others have mentioned, 4.20 is slower even with it overclocked at 500. My vote would be Schapps 4.01. Its fast and stable.
Tried Schaps, TNT and others, but i love Pays Rom! It is the best for me so far Very stable and one of the fastes imho!

Is there any rom that makes the phone more of a dumb phone. Something that where after a call it goes back to the today page instead of having to close everything. Or if I select a contact to call them, it closes that page instead of leaving it open and going to the phone.
Also, has anyone found better battery life in certain roms?
Edit: After doing some research, it seems that I'm looking for Windows Mobile 6.1

Good Stable Rom i dont think there is one!?!

Alright i have tried about every rom on this site now i have had alot of good runs with some but some of them i have bad runs with some now i am going to ask some people...which rom is the best one for Texting and MMS...i would also like it to be fast and stable does anyone know of a rom like it lol

I find this one incredibly stable, just as long as you don't stupidly add the x-button program on top of what's already there. It'll create a conflict in the software and force a reset.
I don't text, so I'd advise reading through to gauge what other people think.

CRCs ROM
I too have tried every ROM on this board I could find. The one liked the best was CRC's r9.2. It seemed to load the fastest, from the get go. I noticed right away in the screen alignment. Here is the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387990
For texting the WM6.1 is a must, with threaded TXT, it's amazing. Like you I am running the AT&T 8525. I had problems with my internet connection, then I updated my radio, here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/73390245/HERM_Radio_Only_1.54.30.10_CustomRUU.zip.html
After that, no problems.
I liked this one the best because it had everything I wanted, Task Manager, Office Mobile, Flashlite, and the auto-network config worked better than others I tried.
It will be this ROM for me, or the Offical ROM from AT&T. I CANNOT wait for his 10.4 release.
Agree CRC's are the go

Stable and fast
Hi
I have tried most of the roms released here, and just 2 months ago came across DVH roms. This Vietnamese guy is really finding speed and reliability in my Hermes. It is the only roms that didn't mess up no matter what I install. All the others fail sooner or later or they are too slow compared to the roms of this guy

If you are on your 6th one in a month then how do you know they are stable? You dont seem to use them long enough to find out.
Most of the 6.1 roms out there are stable, however you need to follow the rules and flash a carrier rom before flashing. - some require a good radio rom etc.
i saw you posted in binkys 3.9 thread.. well im using that rom and have been using it pre-release and its fine.. no problems what so ever.. so theres something wrong with the way your running your roms.
So far I found Pay's last one to work the best for me. I have kept it longer then any ROM including the stock one so far. I will probably try one of the 6.1 roms again now that they are getting figured out more, but that will be after I come back from Greece.
All I do is text, MMS, make phone calls, and check the weather or check my email from time to time and the best IMHO is the MRH ROMs followed closely by the Binkey11's ROM. The MRH one is my favorite because it has most the features and apps but Binky's is really good for being light and fast. I am bouncing back and forth between them and I like them the most right now.
I am also a HUGE fan of Schaps ROMs so be sure to look for that one here in the next little bit. I would venture to guess it will probably be the benchmark all other WM6.1 ROMs are measured by.

If u flash often, then u know u'r device's feel, behavior, apps, etc. So, it doesn't take that long to evaluate if u'r own device is stable, buggy, quick, slow, etc.
I find most of these cooks roms (from hard work & revised versions) very stable...

i believe it has something to do with the storage, and the carrier rom returns the device to the original settings.
CRC's ROM's are the best in my opinion & I think I've tried most of the others.
Been running CRC 10.4 since release with no issues.
I find it's only add-ons or bad CABs that may make them unstable.
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite
Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite or Berd's 4.31 SS (=Schap's WM6 4.31 WWE Lite with 3.62 SuperStorage).
Have been running this ROM for months now, zero issues and very very fast.

Poll: Which WM 6.1 ROM?

Just a quick poll for my own curiosity if nothing else, which WM 6.1 ROM are you using?
If not one of the above, please add a post explaining which.
Also, are there are any newer benchmarks available than those shown here?
You forgot "Binky11's ROM". Best I have used so far.
We seem to be getting a few 'others', but no indication which they are?
I'm currently using Faria's/Dr. Puttingham's ROM but it seems a little unstable, as the OS freezes on me forcing me to pull the battery to reset. I installed it yesterday, with 2 freezes already. I think I'm going to try another one. I use an 8525 btw.
-PB
PDACorner's ROM's have been the cleanest and most stable for me. He is always using the latest builds. I am currently using V.14. build 20226.
Personally I stay away from super storage ROMS. I don't have a need for them, and maybe by sheer coincidence I've only had 1 hard-reset for all the ROMs I've tried, whereas it seems like other folks were having them more often.
I've been a fan of the pdaviet ROMs, but lately have been happy with CRCs... not sure if you need to break out his dev ROMs from stable, since one is just a progression to another.
Stable, with good available program memory.
I used schaps 4 for ages, but I find myself more and more taking a simple "no options" rom (like the PDACorner rom) and adding the dialer, interface, and applications that I really want, instead of using some rom someone else builds.
So I guess you could say I use PDACorner with LOTS of mods.
CRC's 11.2 and 12.2 is the same
Basically re numbered. I too have issues with BS ROMs, my device seems not to agree with it! I would love to try again in the near future, but I use my device for business and can not afford hard resets at all. I go with CRC's ROM for weeks with the only need to power off and on again with side button every other week.
I don't know why but I can't seem to find others that would not hard reset on me, yet.
I have been using Alex's v5.att.161.home ROM for months now, and I love it.

Agreed, i am sick of using WM6.1 to do the ASSync issue which seems to be present even in the official ROM's
Dvha79_ddt
Its always updated with the latest build. Its clean and stable. Suits my taste.
for what it's worth see my signature...
I have tried at some point just about every 6.1 rom I can find on this forum.
The PDAcorner v16 seemed good, and VERY fast, but I didnt like the UI or the idea of how long it would take me to get it how I like it.
I LOVE CRC's roms, they are clean, stable, and fast. Using 12.2 atm! with a 8meg page pool, dam fast!
For those who speak of the "latest build" ala PDA Viet and PDA corner...is there actually a noticeable difference when u flash to a later build ROM? I love flashing a new ROM but it takes me such a long time to get it tweaked to how i like it, so i don't do it so much and then when you consider that you can try the same ROM with so many Pagepool settings, sigh....i could be spending HOURS testing ROMS and just don't have the time to play with them all and at diff settings. That is why I am VERY glad for a thread like this, cause it seems to be frowned upon to compare the ROMS on this site (or mainly to ask the oppinion for a ROM)...i don't exactly understand that, why not discuss and compare them?
what i am wondering, are the latest builds considered to always be the best? i feel like there are so many factors (including unknown ones) that attribute to a ROM being a good working ROM.
for those who have tried lots of the PDAVIET ROMS, any thoughts on which is/are the best?
I can't pick one of the ROMS on the list, but i will say this, i've been on WM6.1 for a while and am considering trying 6.0 again to get a new frame of reference to tell if one is indeed better than the other for me
Shamanix`s WM6 Ultimate v2 FINAL [SuperStorage] With add on's
I'm using CRC12.3 at the moment, but I'm not all that rapt in it.
PDV has had some good ones. Does a nice clean install and removes rubbish that other ROMs leave behind. Got rid of a bug that had plagued me for months.
PDACorner has had some good ones.
Randomize had the best package that needed the least customising by me.
I guess I'm just a ROM junkie.
Been thinking of upgrading to a Samsung i900, but then I'd miss all this fun.

You can use UC/sdconfig.txt to re-install all your favourite programs that run from internal RAM. Most of the stuff I want to add back in runs off my SD card. I just keep the cabs in a separate folder on my SD card and work through them. Only takes a few minutes.
Biggest hassle I had was with contacts and email settings.
But PIMBackup restores contacts in a flash, and Settings Savior restores all my email accounts (about 4 or 5).
Now I can re-flash and be back in operation in under 30 minutes.

Is there any real reason why to leave BsB?

I have BsB 651G for a while. I'd like to switch to some newer build, but is there a reason? Can I get something new?
BsB is bugfree, looks nice, has about 58mb freeram after sr.
Is there any newer rom fill this criteria?
Thanx for your opinion.
David
not really it's prob the most solid ROM ther eis for the touch diamond IMO, there is quite a few chefs that have produced ROMS with Sense but its upto you if you wanna try them, i always trying something different but always go back to the ROM in my sig, have you tried Xandroid yet thats fun to play with
Ralphusion
there is a link end of the thread, where a new chef continue this rom

Yes, it looks nice... Im afraid of not-solved-locking issue.. anyway, what is better at this ROM comparing to BsB? (It seems pretty same to me ) Please don't say "new kernel", it is nothing what I can see...

yep, i'm watching denstereo's ROM development, but why to flash this? Yes, it has newer kernel, but it doesn't bring any real diference. But 43mb free ram vs 58mb is the real diference
BsB
There is no ROMs out there that can compete with BsB - I have tried A LOT of ROMs from here and all of them have bugs apart from BsB
I use my Diamond every day and never have any issues with BsB ever
I will only flash another ROM if Windows Mobile 7 gets ported to Diamond
You could try EnergyROM those are pretty good roms

yeah, I could, but can you tell why? I don't look for Sense. Energy is "full loaded" but it is not actually an advantage. I can install only apps what I want.. Is there anything special at this ROM except of a lot of apps included? Something, what BsB doesn't have?
i quite tempted to try this ROM "Gen.Y PX-D R0 with XDANDROID " but i just downloaded and says files are corrput so nothing to do tonight now lol
Raffo 3.2
You may try this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614695
I have switched from BsB, and pretty satisfied with his Special Raffo 3.2. on my request. Speedy and good battery life and good memory.
No slide lock issue.
A Lite version is available too.

Raffo v3.2 lite looks fine. Again: Does it have something better than Bsb?
as have many on here changed ROMS so many times now i think its down to personal choice on what you think is better, some people love BSB ROMS some people prefer other things each to their own, we could give you loads to try but you should just back up everything and give it a go we all no its not to much hassle to swap ROMs so just give them a try if you dont like go back to what you like

a nice and diplomatic response trev.
@davidm2: I just dropped by coz I see my ROM listed in the tryouts. Someone suggested its close to BsB ... I know I'm nowhere close.
But all I can say is that BsB ROMs or for that matter, any other ROM in this forum can never be emulated even if the chefs share their entire kitchen with other fellow chefs. Each chef has a defined style and persona which finds its way to blend into their ROMs.
Fans of BsB will always aim for very high memory, zero bugs/high-stability, speed, and simplicity coupled with a crisp UI. And as trev puts it, its really down to personal choice. Give it a try, you can always switch back to your preferred best.
I've been cooking my own ROMs for a while now, but every time I goof up and need some sanity, I flash back to BsB myself coz I know thats the best of the lot (for me).

Thanks for opinion. There're those ROM's left on my "list": Benko's, l3v5y's and RaL.GT1F. I like the squared buttons, so Benkos, l3v5y's are out for now (seems to be fiddling reason? and what is about?). It looks like I'll try RaL.GT1F. (one question: there is one bug at BsB after all: ezinput(keyboard) in landscape mode isnt show correctly, the keyboard is a little bit wider than the screen, right part is cutted-off, the 'P' letter is missing and half of 'L' letter is missing. Has the RaL.GT1F this bug too?)

Although I can't confirm this (I'm using a non-ezinput version of my ROM now), but I did install the Ezinput cab (same version) and it didn't cut the sides off (i.e it works just fine).
I've asked for the guys to check if it exists in the main ROM nevertheless. I'll do so too when I flash next. Also, posted a reply to your query there as well.
Hi I have been using BsB since nearly the beginning, but since he switched over to the HD2 been looking for new rom. have tried a few including xandroid but have stoped with Energy Phoenix 2..very nice stable rom like you said it is loaded but it works well while we wait for the bugs to be ironed out of xandroid
