What is the best and easiest graphics editor program for skinning?
I have been trying to use GIMP which it not terribly easy and I would really like some input about other programs. I just really do not want to buy photoshop. Haha.
Hints, Tips, and Tricks are also very welcomed about skinning and manila! lol
maybe a good tip:
can IrfanView edit pictures?
OH!
And a very good tip for a Windows Mobile "Photoshop" - Pocket Artist !
It's not freeware, but it worth it!!!!!
Paint.NET found here
free, fast, and very good for skins (simple)
About to give up on skinning. Shoot me.

Got bored with the original 'phone' skin on my XDA2s.
Is there a way to change it?
Where to download?
Thanks in advance.
How can you not like that lovely black or silver finish and the stylish keyboard in red or blue..... Ohhh, you mean PocketPC 2005
Search for PocketPC Themes, there's LOADS. Get them from all over the place. Or download the Microsoft Theme Maker from Micorsoft.com/pocketpc and roll your own
Steve
I can recommend Bong's Workshop Dialpad Maker Deluxe, there's a couple of dialpads on my theme site that I knocked up with this app, it's very simple to use, but I haven't gotten round to doing many yet.
I agree that Bong Workshop's Dialpad software is great for phone skins - if you have a good graphics editor, you can realy customise the look and feel of the phone - It pretty good value to at about $10 to download (£5 plus a bit)
Is it any good compared to TFL3D? Looks nice and possibly better than any other finger like interfaces!!
did a search but not too clear? any help
Go to http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/index.php - that is the official forum.
It is good and very customisable, if you have a little time and skill with photoshop etc.
To be fair, I think he's looking for some opinion from the community rather than the slightly biased view from the Lakeridge forums. Trouble is, an impartial view will be hard to come by. Lots of people on this site will tell you it's wonderful...with great conviction and some justification.
For what it's worth, I put it on my device a few weeks ago and it came back off pretty much straight away. It certainly is highly customisable - many of the sexier and more complex themes on this site are WAD themes - but customising isn't all that straightforward and that's what put me off. I didn't have the time or the inclination.
Some will love it and some will hate it, but my personal preference is for SPB Mobile Shell. I used TF3d in preference to SPBMS2.x (although I'm currently taking davideuck's excellent WM6.5 ROM for a spin) but will look very seriously at v3 which should be out later this month or early next. There are YouTube videos and a dedicated website kicking about if you search around.
have not tried wisebar advance desktop but wisebar advance does drag the performance of the device in my own observation.
I find that if you want to have better performance, touchflo, mobileshell or pointui offers that.
Agree that the configuration of WAD is no piece of cake, but I love it for...
...as many appointments on main screen as screen permits (and those appointments can also be way in the future)
...16 tabs on main screen and 16 more just a finger touch away (tabs can also be a URL, or macro)
...lots of prefab skins so I dont need to worry about Photoshop...
IMO,
Positive: WAD2 allows for much more customization of screens.
i.e. weather info, plugin imbedding, status info, screen button look, etc.
Negative: not as graphically advanced as TF3d. i.e. weather, mail, stock, etc. animations are much better in TF3d.
Also, it is still a little buggy. Random crashes and such. it seems that WAD2 needs some more fine tuning before it's ready for prime time.
In essence, if you're looking a more infomative overlay, quicker access to functions, and much more customization then WAD2 is fun to play with.
But, if your looking for a stable, graphically advanced, overlay, Tf3D is the way to go.
Personally, I use TF3D because I like the look, feel and responsiveness, especially with the great Roms cooked here. But, I miss WAD's plasticity.
Thanks guys, yeah im looking at SPB v. 3, just need to find a good ROM out there to use!!!
Anyone knows any fun photo editor for WinMo that works like the Photogene on iPhone?
I know there are quite some photo editors out there but none offers text frames... Plus the user interface is really good. I am not particularly fond of the iPhone but this app is really impressive...
Many thanks!
I want to create a rom that is just based around TF3D, i have tried so many times at creating my own, but my laptop just messes it all up (seriously have no idea why) it crashes and comes up with loads of errors.
I want to make one that only has the following programs:
Opera - any version compatible with tf3d
File Explorer
Office
Notes - no OneNote just notes
Audio booster
Windows Media
Album - Do we need pictures and video?
Camera - obviously
S2U2 - users can install the manila style theme
Youtube
We just need the pure basics no internet explorer or anything like that.
i will be more than welcome to help graphically as much as i can and im sure that other members would love to see this ROM.
Also none of that stupid windows with the start menu at the bottom....its crap! please post here or private message me and thank you for looking
come on people!
over 100 views n no takers
Im in!
There is so many out there but they all have their own bugs but nothing only for TF3D.
I would love to see it happen and am happy to help you out but i dont know much about the cooking process...
You may try the kicthen from lobsterdave, simple and logical (add only the packs you want to) otherwise seek after the lot of "clean" ROMS and use one of those.
Or any other kitchen. I'm a big fan of this one:

foolproof, and everything explained. Instead of counting the reviews of your post, start cooking! it's simpler than you think.
Good luck!

couldnt find a definitive answer already so thought it useful to open a clean thread for others. What is the best tools (preferably free) peeps are using to edit the registry (regedit) on their blackstone / touch hd ?
i find that PHM Reg Edit works best for me
I'm really amazed by Task Manager v3.1 from FdcSoft. It's a whole package deal, which is awesome unless you only want the regedit part...
This is their site
funny enough, ended up paying for the resco suite...its a great pack with a top regedit tool and only a few bucks.
thanks for your feedback
