Hi, Ive just upgraded my Orbit from B&B 3.7 to B&B 4. Everything went well, ROM was running like a dream. After a while of tinkering and using it I noticed a few random issues:
1 - Power button: suddenly stops turning screen back on. Screen turns off OK, but will not turn on again. Soft-reset is needed to startup again.
2- Sound disappearing: sound randomly disappeared for no reason. Have removed HTCHome from today (due to known issue) and it wasnt that. I have nothing on today screen, no running programs, nothing loading at startup. All of a sudden after about 5 resets it came back on.
3 - Blue Rollr-ball and scroll wheel: did work when first flashed device, but now no longer respond, in any menu or window the blue light does not even come on (although does come on when first booted and when screen turned off).
4 - Battery life depleted? - seems to drain battery quicker than normal (although this may be due to me having to leave backlight on constantly as explained in point 1)
5 - Wifi : seems to only stay connected for approx 2minutes. Although it will stay connected if constantly being used (ie. if I browse page after page will work, but if I stop to read a page for minute or two I need to disconnect and re-connect)
Thats all I have noticed so far but will post any new issues.
This post is not to put Orbit user's off using B&B 4 or to disrespect Tom or his efforts at all. This is just my findings so far and hope Tom could read and add any thoughts, I do love B&B 4 its a wicked ROM and fully appreciate the work Tom has put inot building it many thanks, keep up the good work man.

6 - Red End call button: does not work at all, never has on B&B. I have to tap "end call" on screen. not a big issue, but I sometimes press the button and set the device down forgetting to hang up calls

Ok the HTC fix is the only thing I can find there, not sure if it has fixed the sound thing yet I will let you know. The Red end call button works also, dont know why that wasnt working earlier. But the other issues remain:
Power button still wont turn screen back on after switched off or locked device using device lock.
Blue Rollr-ball and sroll wheel not working at all
Wifi not lasting very long ( although I think I read posts elsewhere about tht so not too worried )
Any thoughts on the hardware buttons anyone ?
Nope, sound gone again. Installed the HTChome fix (both weather and tab, then tab and weather) still no joy. It was working for a period, now its gone off again. Any time any sort of sound tries to come from the speaker I just recieve a high-pitched "ding" then no more sound until reset.

Sad your having such a rough time but to make sure its not your device, have you reflashed an original ROM and checked your handset to make sure these problems have gone away. Also, how about reflashing the BB v4.0 ROM again and see if it improves, others prior have posted success after a reflash.
I'm happy these BB ROMs have worked flawlessly from first flash (except with known bugs).

Ok got the sound thing sorted myself. Turns out the sound will only work if I boot my Orbit up while plugged into my PC with Activesync running. Its not a USB thing, Ive tried with just my charger plugged in but no sound there. I also tried loading Activesync on my Orbit before touching anything else, still no sound.
The only way I can have working sound on my Orbit is if I boot up while plugged into my PC with Activesync running ??

LOL thanks chum. Im the kind that likes to sit and figure out whats going wrong. Im trying to figure it out n leave posts here incase others have issues and maybe find a fix. Also I just cant be bothered to reflash as it takes too long to reinstall all my apps
it happen to me several times as i finish a phone call and go back to the Today screen but on the left top corner still display the title "phone".and i cant press it to open the start menu when im at the Today screen not even the start key works.try hold down the power button to shut down but no luck.but everything still works at the Today screen (weather,music plug-in etc)
had to soft reset it.anyone have this problem as well?or is it a radio problem?

I use this rom with 1.51 radio till the rom is issued. I never had to soft reset because the rom crashed. The only really annoying issue i had is the bluetooth's one (Time to time, it is impossible to reactivate bluetooth without SR. This is why i do not desactivate it anymore ). We can always argue on choices, taste and colors but this rom is quite stable and fast enough for what i do.
EDIT: BTW check also which applications you have loaded. Did you reinstall a backup done with SPB after coming from another rom? I experienced many problems with that. Even if not pretty, i always reinstall now all my applications after installing a new rom (and i use pimbackup for calendar, contacts,... infos)

I don't agree with that the ROM issue after call. Your deveice may be has some problem. What about bluetooth yes, there is some interesting moment that you select open bluetooth, it doesn't open, as soon as you mark to open you should restart your deveice, then it starts with opened bluetooth. BUt when you are going to turn the bluetooth off there is no problem.
I'm sure, Schap as a great moderator will solve this problems in next generation of his ROMs. The variation 3.60a (has posted), may be 3.60b, then 3.60c may be. Or he will post something interesting like Iphone platform.(I want him to do it)

I have the same problem too, what I have discover is that during the call and the screen is off (either it off automatically after a time or you press the power button) then anytime you power on the screen again in between the call or after the call in a short time the problem tiggered.
the only way you can 'fix' it is to wait until call end then off and on your screen once then the 'start menu' back or wait for an amount of time until the phone lock tigger (that one with number pad)
I said 'fix' (with quote) because this definitely a temporary solution to deal with this problem
hope schaps can get more idea in how to trigger the problem and can fix this soon
other than this issue, the rom is really very great

To the OP,
If you are using a Hermes I suggest you reflash from scratch ie Schaps ver 3.6 rom, then use radio rom version 1.47.10..
Install ALL your applications from scratch, manually. DO NOT restore from a previous backup using, say SPB Backup; that will screw your installation. Make sure all your apps are the latest versions, capable of running under WM6.
Preferably install one app at a time, as you would anyway, then test the phone and make sure it is working before installing another app, and so on.
Don't install a theme changer or other similar software until you are absolutely sure your installation works. Leave the performance parameter settings as they are, ie at default.
If all else fails use the ROM combination in my signature below. Rock solid installation, no problems or crashes.

No BT Issue till now
I use BT also with DrYAR-Bluetooth 1.6 (Whoopy!) No Issues at all either starting or Stopping BT
I'm using It for two days now It's OK
Did I mention that this rom Is even FASTER than the previous 3.5x?

I didnt have the bluetooth turn on just using it normally.and all application i install is fresh onto the phone memory.never install any program on the SD card.about the dialer skin i use Schen Kaiser 3G dialer.
Anyone got fix yet?

I've had this same issue for weeks now, ever since the newer ROMs have come out for the official releases (i'll have to track back the build numbers). I had it with Sleuth's last release, the vp3G 3.0 release, and now Schap's 3.60. I've done what other posters have said and hard reset, not loaded any apps, and still have the issue.
I believe I have tracked it down to do with X-button, as that's one of the few apps that is installed without customizations in both Sleuth and vp3G (and I run it in Schap 3.60a). My next step is to run vp3G 3.60 lite, without X-button, and see if that really solves my problem.

As a follow-up, I went to VP3G 3.60.1 install, ran the base install with nothing else installed and still had the problem. Still, the workaround suggested by others (putting the phone in standby and coming out) fixes the issue for me.
i have herems 100 and last rom i had was tnt 2 it was untill two days ago the screen somtimes doesnt close sometime open only white and when it works fine the screen view is shifted down i see parts of the soft keys at the top of the screen
i also have another problem s that the bottons at the buttom doesnt work sometimes.
the phone didn't fell down from me or hit
please if any one can help

I'm experiencing the same problem on my herm100. It has been like this for a few weeks now. I'm running the latest T-mobile test rom. I have problems with the buttons and also the screen both going white sometimes and shifted down a little. So I also see some little part of the softkeys at the top of the screen.
Anyone know what is causing this, and how to get it solved???

problem came back and it's worse now
I upgrade my phone to wm6.5 after the tmo stock rom is released, and am happy with it in general. However this is still one bug, which I searched but couldn't find anyone talking about it.
The customized notification and task manager drop menu will disappear after making phone calls using either speaker phone or sometimes with bluetooth. The problem is, it's not reproducible, but happens at least once for every three phone calls like that. The only way to bring those back is a soft reset which is kinda annoying. The only conflicting software I can think of maybe the smartlock I used, which is used to automatically lock the phone during standby or in the phone conversation.
Does anyone have a similar problem? I had similar problems when I was using wm6.1 stock rom (before the upgrade) but not nearly as bad (maybe once in 20 phone calls).

I had this problem when I installed a taskbar that technically wasn't for stock 6.5
This happens with the stock rom without any other taskbar installed.
Looks like no one has the same issue?
I've had it maybe not show up all the time without a custom taskbar installed, but never had to reset to get it back again.
Finally figured out this is actually associated with the smartlock I'm using.
Switched over to csdevctrl and symptom seems gone.
Hello all, First, I searched the forums for my answer with no such luck, that being said if Im repeating a question thats been asked I apologize. I have a problem with keeping android stable. I have flashed with different versions of windows several times all with success. I do however, prefer the android system, I find that it runs much better, faster and has better perks. Everytime I flash following the original how to, I run in to a couple similar problems.
The first is when I hit the power (not hold the power) the back light cuts off and the keyguard enables, the screen goes dark all as it should. Depending on the time ( the longer it is the worse it is) when I hit the power key to revive my phone, I often get a white screen, then it waits , then it goes dim, Sometimes If I hit the power button several times it eventually comes back to the key guard option, but others I have to remove the battery and reboot. This is the major problem, as I cant use my phone when I need it. This problem seems to get worse the farther it gets away from the flash date, e.g..,, after a brand new flash it works pretty good and then it goes downhill from there.
Second, it seems to lock up when I let it charge overnight, not always (but most of the time) I get up, click the power button to revive the phone and I have a white screen before me that is frozen solid. This like the previous problem seems to be linked to the distance from the last flash.
I hope that its something Im doing wrong, as Im currently using wmobile 6.5 and since Ive had a taste of the droid os, my wm phone is just disappointing. And as I was unsuccessful in finding a post that adequately describes my problem ,Im hoping that there is a way around this .
I have tried, Incubus Superfroyo, Wrym warm donut, and Cyanogens build. Im sure Ive tried others, they just escape me, I was re-flashing daily until I went back to windows. I truly hope someone out there has encountered what I have and has a solution. thank you all for what you do, these forums have been extremely valuable and helpful.
Sounds like you have the wrong panel type selected. Is it set to auto? if it is, try setting it to 2 instead. That cleared up the problem for me.

Well thanks for all the many replies. I give Ive tried everything on this site and m android is still really glitchy. Guess it will be windows until I get perhaps a phone capable of running android smoothly.

What we need to know is which kernel you're using, or an image of the kernel you currently have. Also, we need to know which radio version you're using, as this can have detremental effects on stability as well.
Personally, I have been using radio version 1.70.19.09, which seems to be the most stable with kernel .25 IMHO.
I have also "personalized" ThoughtlessKyle's "Fat-Free Froyo", adding/removing apps that I need or don't use respectively (navigation, QQPlayer, Pandora, etc.).
Currently, I think I might be one of the only people not experiencing any issues with this phone running Android 2.2.1. I do get the occasional "hang" (I wait for it to finish what it's doing instead of force close), but that usually has something to do with network coverage or an app requesting something from an unopened port.
Old phone, new OS and runs smooth as could be expected.
Next for me will be the HTC HD2 (if I get one at the right price, the tilt was free)...
I know, I know that MANY PEOPLE THINK OF THE WAKE UP WHITE JIBBERISH SCREEN as NEVER WORKING.

Ill try that combination and post my results. The latest I tried was
Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1.2 RLS6 with 2.6.32 still no joy, white screen crashes and hang ups. and it seems progressively worse the longer the rom is on the phone. To whomever asked what phone I have, its the at&t tilt II

I can't help you regarding panel selection but, please have Radio ROM version 1.65 or higher. And do give my fresh foryo a go with 2.6.25 kernel (everything is there in the thread on how to use it with 2.6.25 kernel).
the WHITE GLITCHY SCREEN IS THE PROBLEM WITH ANDROID DRIVERS. Install with Data on SD Card often causes lockups / force closes.

Ok, so I installed your version of froyo, the accompanying 2.6.25, the radio that you use. For the most part the hanging up is fixed. Now the second problem is still in place. Sometimes when Its been in hibernation(or whatever you would call when you hit the power button once ) when I attempt to refresh my phone (hitting the power button once) nothing happens, the green light is still blinking at the top but the screen stays blank, normally have to remove the battery and restart to get back to using the phone. Is this a sleep setting? or is this something Ive done wrong during the installation.
